Hawks are large, strong birds. Their large beaks are hooked for biting and shredding flesh, and their feet have sharp, curved talons for catching prey. Hawks can not only see farther than humans, but their visual acuity is eight times that of humans. If you want to see some spectacular hawks in action, keep watching, as we count down the 14 best hawk attacks caught on camera.

Iguana
Predators of the iguana include birds of prey and the hawk is one of those birds. Watch this hawk attack this iguana, but what seems like child’s play for the big bird is not. The lizard is powerful and keeps escaping the grasps of the hawk. The hawk has injured the reptile, but it is not able to seal the deal. It looks like this hunt is on the verge of collapse for the bird of prey. In this video, you can see how the hawk clamps its talons on the lizard and then jumps up and down to weaken it. Once the mission is completed, the hawk takes the iguana back to the nest to feed its family. Finally, this hawk uses this iguana to skateboard on the grass. I guess it’s training for the upcoming Olympic games. Curiously enough, after enjoying a few moments of skateboarding at the Iguana's expense, the hawk lets go of the reptile and takes off. I guess it had something more important to do.
Cat & Dog
While hawks will not go out of their way to attack and devour a cat, especially because cats are larger than their usual prey, if they are hungry enough and have the opportunity, they will. In our first video, this hawk targets a smaller cat, holding it tightly to a fence by putting its talons on the cat’s head and squishing it. This must be painful for the cat who tries desperately to free itself, but the hawk is too big and powerful. Once the hawk feels the cat is either weak enough or just plain dead, it takes off with it, probably back to its nest. A man was sitting at his workstation when he noticed a huge hawk perched on top of a cat out the window. The man grabbed his phone and hurried outside to film what was going on, not wanting to miss out on such a rare up-close encounter.
The hawk had complete control over the cat, and after it was weakened, it flew away with it. What an incredible sight to behold. A hawk and a small Yorkie were fighting for their lives in a family's garden. As another terrified Yorkie waited by and watched, the bird of prey viewed the dog as its next meal. A 15-year-old teen girl takes a seat cushion and begins pounding the bird in the head with it until it flees. The hawk allegedly cut a huge hole in the dog's neck, but the girl managed to get her to the vet in time. The teen said she'll be keeping a closer eye on her dogs from now on. Finally, this poor kitten took its last breath at the hands of this fearsome hawk. The little feline had absolutely no chance of escaping the powerful grip of the bird. RIP little kitty!

  • Hawks are incredibly intelligent. I'm in Florida and have several that live around the area. There's one in particular that comes flying in everytime he hears me crank up the riding lawn mower. He'll follow me around the property from tree to tree watching the ground closely as the lawnmower sends lizards and the occasional snake scurrying away. He swoops right in and grabs them up. He understands that the mower means lunch is served.

  • I was in my driveway and standing by my car just about to open the door. I heard something and looked and a hawk was flying right toward my just a couple feet above my head. It's eyes were focused and it was carrying a dove in its claws. As it flew over the dove was looking right at me on the way to it's death. I felt like I could actually see fear in it's eyes. It's one of the most unforgettable things I've ever seen. It was disturbing to see the difference in the two birds as they passed by me.

    • Crows are invasive and kill baby animals and swarm and attack humans crows are smart and stay away from a posible danger like a giant with no feathers or fur (thats us)and besides hawks only attack if hungry this hawk could have been starving. and btw crows get very greedy and beg for food VERY loudly i don't trust you either

    • @@goldenscar3933 yes they are invasive, but they have expressed tremendous memory, and other high level cognitive skills such as pattern recognition and creative problem solving. Some corvid experts postulate crows may be as intelligent and as aware as a 7 year old human! Sure they can be invasive, but humans account feeding crows and having their families recognize them. If they go to a national forest a lot the crows will announce your arrival, sometimes bring you shiny things (like a button or ring), tell other animals you are good shit! (Crows will warn the game and scare them off when they CAW CAW CAW. That's the sound of an intruder or someone dangerous) They have been known to show wolves where food is, and hunt in tandem, the wolves allowing crows to take pickings The crow and Raven are also deep esoteric symbols of death fertility and rebirth Sorry I guess I'm biased in this discussion 🥺 God bless! Love em!

  • My family and I raised a baby sparrow hawk some years back. It had fallen from its nest along with its two siblings, it was the only one that lived through the fall. We fed it raw meat until it was fully grown, then released it. The first thing it did was to fly up and land in a tree, which made all the birds around go crazy. For a few years afterward, we would see it occasionally in the spring and summer flying around our house.

They are so majestic i risk crashing into someone else looking at them lol. Recently one of them almost hit my car but his keen eye made him take a quick turn away, and as i slowed down too nothing bad happened. If I wanted to hear music while watching, I could put on a music track - and that way, it would be music to my taste, not to somebody else's.

But they also get a lot of shit, when they're alone other birds mob them, and from the time they are young, some birds try to knock them out of the nest, just so it is one less raptor (predator) as opposed to one more. I have observed some cool stuff tracking hawks (mostly). I have seen a Red-shouldered hawk adult male grab a 3 ft snake (rat snake I believe) right off of the bank of a crick, I was like 25 feet away from where he dove and snatched it up, and then flew right over me, shrieking its victory call. About 13ish years ago when I was in high school, I was walking home one day down the sidewalk, and I saw a red-tailed hawk chasing two songbirds. I stopped and they flew right at me. One songbird was faster than the other and he flew past me, but the other one was grabbed by the hawk, who brought him to the ground, and they literally slid across the grass and came to a stop on the sidewalk about 5 feet in front of me. What was even more crazy, both the hawk and the songbird, who was being squeezed by the talons, looked right at me and we all froze for a second before the hawk flew off, carrying the bird lmao. The little bird had such a desperate looks on its face too, like he was asking me to save him. I almost forgot about that, thanks for reminding me haha

  • I work with these birds daily, and several of these examples are extremely rare, starting with cats and dogs. They also mentioned a hawk killing a 5 pound snake. While that is definitely possible, don’t confuse killing with flying with 5 pounds. The heaviest hawk in the USA is the Ferruginous hawk, and the largest ones don’t quite reach 5 pounds, and they certainly aren’t flying with that much weight.

    • Idk how rare it is. All I know is I caught 2 hawks in my coup today. They killed a chicken but they weren’t able to feast. I scared them away, I’m sure they where hungry/desperate because not even an hour later when my dog was outside to pee they came back and swooped at her, one of them cut her pretty deep. She’s only 5 lbs. I’m sure they could have killed her instantly if I wasn’t there. Anyways, now I’m researching hawks.

    • @@rayssadantasbirds106 cats are way less ferocious than birds. Cats are loving and sweet, unlike these predatory birds. So it’s sad when a hawk kills a cat. Especially since the cat will die a slow painful death. When a cat kills a bird which isn’t super often, the bird will die faster and less painfully. Cats are graceful killers. So no i don’t think it’s good for for hawks or whatever, it’s sad. Especially since half of them are probably house cats too.
