The Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra is simply the best webcam I've ever seen even right now before its launched. The Kiyo Pro Ultra price might be steep but oh my goodness does it look amazing.

Happy to see webcams in general get better in quality, for years we'd been stuck with the Logitech c920 being the top dog. Finally seeing stuff like this, Elgato's Facecam Pro and Insta360 Link cameras coming about. Judging from the footage, they look like they surpass previous 4K webcams like the Brio and Avermedia's PW513/515 offerings.
yea I bought a C920 literally ages ago... 2013 I think? am surprised we haven't seen something that requires higher bandwidth USB 3.1+ or something 4k60.. honestly
I still don't understand the use case for this price range webcam really. It pokes into the second hand mirrorless prices and definitely loses the competition there.
probably for people who just wants a "plug and play" and that has features like this one. if it really has a good sensor then they can improve the image processing overtime via updates. but then again its razer so.... 🤷
@@frieddayfriday main issue is that nothing razer makes is plug and play. and their software is mediocre at best.
@@p4l4d1n7 which is why there's a "" and see last sentence. 😅
Yeah but adding a capture card on top of dealing with either extra batteries or just running a cable to it. With a high end webcam just USB plugs and there you go.
@@p4l4d1n7 Their software is bloatware. It is not even close to being mediocre...
Razer just destroyed EVERY other Webcam (under $50)
(through a x5 price increase)
(Whilst still being worse than any modern smartphone)
I don’t think you understand how much better it is vs everything else. If you watch my Webcam round up from 2021, nothing even comes close to this depth and colour white balance. -D.
@@HardwareCanucks I was only half serious haha, I'm a former photograph actually! Yeah maybe its much better than the webcams in 2021, but we're in 2023 now and the difference between this cam and even a logitech BRIO is nearly indistinguishable (considering you can tweak white balance yourself regardless) and its HALF the price!! There are a lot of alternatives on the market for less than 200 with a +/- margin on quality but certainly not enough to matter for the vast majority. If the colour depth and white balance was so much better, it certainly isn't noticable at this point in time. (at least for me) This product just has the "Razer tax" all over it - No offense to you of course, I get you're playing the algorithm :D
@@Skyflairl2p @Hardware Canucks Insta360 link sensor size: 31mm2 Facecam Pro sensor size: 37mm2 Kiyo Pro Ultra sensor size: 85mm2 Almost 3X size of Insta360 and more than 2X size of Elgato's. There are things that's pure physics. Light gathered, Depth of field is lens aperture and sensor size related. Can't overcome that. People are comparing a hotel room first look of a webcam to Harris Heller's review in a great studio of the others...
It's a decently detailed looking web cam but the colors look just as rough as the kiyo and kiyo pro. Still think it doesn't topple the insta360 in terms of quality though
Insta360 is a go pro style camera. Not the same use case
@@boppernostopper8598 Insta360 also make many other cameras, one of those being a 4K webcam.
@@boppernostopper8598 The Insta360 Link is a PTZ webcam that sits on top of your monitor like any other, and by all accounts it's a great webcam if a little pricey. Has no 360 features at all, that's just the brand name.
@@boppernostopper8598 No, it's a literal webcam, and it has 100 times the image quality of this one while being quarter the size
@@boppernostopper8598 ??? they make webcams too and its probably the best webcam considering its form factor
Quality looks like it's there. The first scene needed some color correction, but the detail retained is pretty amazing for a webcam. The darker, color saturated room scenes, were very impressive at keeping detail with little or no noise. With proper settings I bet this thing is actually pretty awesome. Might trade out my Brio 4k for this.
The insta360 link makes this look like a 2005 laptop webcam
Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra: "I'm here to destroy every other webcam on the market!" Insta360 Link: "Doubt."
i really wish you could've shown what the software and cam can achieve with manual tweaking instead of sticking to the Auto settings🤔
I'm sure he will once Razer officially releases this product and everything's definitively calibrated.
all those idiots who liked ur comment don't realize this is a ces preview, not a final product with final software, and the razer staff might not have allowed him to go in and tweak settings. idiots are prevalent.
Once I get the webcam 😂 sure! -D.
Synapse can't even remember that I have a Razer mouse or keyboard plugged in all day long; they just vanish from Synapse at random times (yup, checked the cables). I don't think I'd trust it to keep track of a camera either. Razer might make ok hardware, but their software fails so hard and so often that I won't buy another Razer product again.
agreed, the software is atrocious. Its a shame because the hardware is great.
There's definitely been one too many times where mine/a friend's issue is resolved by closing synapse.. not only is it performance heavy, but it's just so buggy
I've steered clear from razer after having the carcharias 2012 headset and the naga hex mouse. Both of my friend's kraken headsets had issues after a short time too. Fragile AF wiring which made the audio cut out on one ear for all the headsets, and a bad clicker for my mouse. Synapse is something I want to avoid as much as humanly possible too.. They're had a good few things lately like the blackshark headset for that value but.. the past experience left a bad taste
Same with my razer barracudas. I have to unplug the 2.4ghz dongle and plug back it back in for it to pick it up
Been using Synapse 3 for about a year now. Biggest problem; it sometimes crashes. And the RGB studio really sucks.
It would have been interesting to see the output of this compared with a recent smartphone. Since more of us are used to seeing smartphone video, rather than webcam video, a comparison between the two would help us see the advantage - or disadvantage - of spending so much for this product.
There's a great video I watched recently comparing the Pixel 6 Pro against a Logitech Brio 4K. Not this exact camera but a good example of what you're looking for. Really highlights how good smartphone cameras have become.
@@jjpaq Thanks 1
@@mo-akif I don't know if I can link in the comments without getting flagged as spam, but if you search "Brio 4K vs Pixel 6 Pro", it's the first result by Creator Coast. I think the outcome was that the Brio is simpler to set up (just plug in a USB), but the smartphone image quality is way better.
Tell me you're sponsored to say nice things without telling me you're sponsored

I was excited about the "Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra" but then I saw the auto-focus problems at 00:34 and 01:17, so I removed the webcam from my shopping cart. Thanks for doing this real life review!
Literally said early versions of it. Meaning once it's ready for public they won't be there.
Razer just show it can do "ok webcam", with "ok video quality" - just this!
And really shit audio quality
So I get to download and use that dumpster fire-of-an-app known as Razer Synapze in order to use this stuttering, low-quality webcam and all for the ultra low-low price of $300 dollars?! Poor Dimitri...struggling to say something nice about one of his sponsors products 😂
Looks just like the Kiyo Pro to me... Which I was really let down by. It's good, and I never expect and webcam to blow my mind/be DSLR quality as it seems a lot of techies think, but it was WAY too expensive for what it is, and it CONSTANTLY has USB issues or refuses to work with conferencing software. Fish eyes me too much, but if I don't take it out of "Narrow" FOV, it's cut in WAY too close at normal sitting range. It wiggles ALL the time, so I'm not sure how you're saying there's no wiggle. Camera is okay at best, but the software issues really make me dislike it. Can't wait to replace this thing with a Logi cam one of these days. "DESTORYS other webcams" is a gross overstatement, reminiscent of news sites saying "[politician] EVISCERATED for this [milquetoast decision]." Do better, HC, this isn't like you.
This clearly looks better than the Kiyo Pro, I know because I literally use one almost everyday.
Quality looks OK and the low light performance seemed decent. However, if it doesn't have Windows Hello support, it's not going to displace my Brio for general user. Looking forward to a more in-depth review. Curious if it has a tripod mount, and what length the USB cable it comes with is.
it does have mount
Need a comparison with Insta360 Link. Honestly think that's the best webcam
The Insta360 is better than this one, that's for sure. The video quality and color reproduction on auto isn't even close.
Yup insta360 link gets my vote too.
I stream 5 days a week and have decided it's time to upgrade my old razer kiyo after 3 years, so excited for this to arrive on Monday!!
Actually surprised by the quality. I love Razer mice, but all the other products I have had from them have been subpar, so I wasn't expecting much from it.
since its razer it will only last maybe 6 months.
That's being generous.
Still more into the facecam pro... for same $299, elgato offers 4k 60fps and insta link a freaking gimbal that tracks you...
Yep just commented the same thing, for the money elgato wins.
I think we need a side by side comparison. And im pretty happy with my kiyo pro cuz it also has good mics. So its a lot easier for teams than to try to get my mic to work without picking up the other peoples voices.
If there is someone out of frame pointing a gun at you, blink 5 times in rapid succession.
I'm still looking for a tiny webcam on a boom arm that I can position right in the middle of my screen. On a huge screen it always appears that I'm looking up and not making eye contact during calls. We have tiny cameras (in cell phones) so why not tiny web cams?
You can get a teleprompter if eye contact is the issue
is it just me but the crisp focus and the blurred background create a whole "the background must be fake" vibe to it?
Looks nice but don't think they destroyed the other options out there.
Wish they would push an update where it retains the settings when using on a device where you can't download the software, such as a work pc
Excellent work! Could you do a webcam comparison between the Kiyo Pro Ultra and an iPhone 14 Pro using Continuity Camera? That would be very interesting to see.
What is the maximum field of view for the lens?
who is the target adience for this price point? - Streamers? amateurs either use a cheaper 150$ webcam or their phone pros: use a dslr (even a used one is better and they probably also want to film stuff like vlogs, so you have one anyway) - business: a cheaper webcam does it for 99% I guess. The mic qualy is bad and only looking better but not really good in a zoom call? I don't get it
looks like as if video was shot using anamorphic lens.. how did u get that aspect ratio? On a side note, how is the quality compared to Logitech 4k brio pro that has the same tech spec,. Maximum resolution and frame rate: 1080p, 60 FPS and 4K, 30 FPS. (USB 3.0 required. 1080p, 30 FPS is max with 2.0 connection.) Detachable USB 3.0 Type-C to Type-A cable included. 85 inches in length. Field of view: adjustable 90 degrees, 78 degrees, 65 degrees. 2 built in microphones.
It's quite interesting for Razer to think there is a significant market for such a device. I have a dedicated webcam, some kind of Logitech, but when I need a good quality on the go, I can easily connect my phone via USB or Wifi a pretty much get the same ... or even better quality.
How does this compare to the Instalink 360 Webcam?
Curious if the focus issues were because of the person in your background. Might be different without another person in the frame.
Can the ir tracking be used for something else like Driving sims would be cool if they have that
Will be nice to have some updates to the now the Regular Kiyo Pro
The mention of the reference track or the audio is something it would not have considered
And still, the fact is that none of these webcams (with very few exceptions) can hold a candle to even a 2-3 year old iPhone or decent Android phone, connected with Camo over USB. Since I bought a Pixel 6 Pro to use as a webcam, I haven't looked back.
Dell/HP/etc have this same 4k webcam with the same sensor... if you want the image quality without running the razer synapse software.
question is about that led is. is it turned on becuase the software tells it to or if its done purely/pickyback by power going to the sensore if its only software then the camera can be hacked without the light turn on and you will not know it but if it's pickyback on the sensor power only then it can't also wish som of the big company's made a webcam where you can put the lens on that you want and can change out as you want like with a dslr/mirrorless ( aka like the one in this video but witn a lens mount ( ex. C mount ) on instead of a fixed lens )
I hav eboth a C920 and a Brtio and the Brio is failing after only a few uses, so this couldn't have come at a better time. Wish you had a link so I could purchase it through your channel. I'll keep my ears and eyes peeled.
Should have been 60hz to be a buy... and that's if the price would have been ~$129
except, its impossible to buy.. cant find it in my country, cant find it on amazon..
I want to see an image quality comparison between this and the insta360 link
The titel " Razer Just Destroyed EVERY Other Webcam " implemented that its the best one out there and its your opinion. But watching the video it feels like an add superviced by producers.
NO way this thing tops the Insta360 link as far as quality webcam images. The Insta360 link is the current champion
Man enough with the Razer shilling
They need to promote their overpriced products as they are sponsoring this trip for them!
My man, Razer sponsored his trip, man's gotta eat. At least this time is not shilling yet crappier laptops that require Hafthor Björnsson levels of muscle to carry around and call that innovative. Pro tip, if it requires more power/size for a jump in performance it's not Innovation it's enlargement...
This honestly feels like a paid spot. Not really sure why you're refusing to acknowledge the Insta360 in the comments, which is objectively a better webcam at a similar price point. Love your content and have been watching for the better part of a decade, but this video feels very odd.
Video and Audio quality is pretty good compared to the usual (horrendous) offerings. But the value is atrocius. 300 USD for something that ought to be 100. Is that a Razer PR person in the background?
Comments saying 4K looks like 1080p proves they've never owned a real camera before.
Soundbar trying to be like parking assist instead of focusing on the basics of speakers.
They girl in the back snapped her neck when he said "Elgato" XD
I liked the canon with sub par lighting conditions more lol
What lens are you using with your Canon EOS R? The picture is incredible
Oh, wow, that looks like a horrendous stuttery mess. 😮😮
Was he serious?
He literally explained that in the first 30 seconds
@@davidsamuels3054 Not really. He said it reduced the shutter, which has more to do with visual and motion clarity, not to do with an inconsistent frame rate. The YT video is also playing at 30fps so it’s not a mismatch in frame rates in the editing software.
@@davidsamuels3054 no he didn't. He said he was recording at 4K30 and talked about how good it is.
@@SirSethery the only stutter I'm noticing is in motion, but that's the only time you'd be able to tell any framerate issues anyways. If you just look at the section starting at 6:30 where they turn off HDR, I'm personally not seeing any frame issues.
You need to compare this device in the same environment with the leading webcams available today, everything else doesn't make much sense. To me, the image has quite a green touch and colouring is off.
People in comments seem to don't undertand how good this webcam is. It's almost a 1 inch sensor at 1.7. Facecam pro is smaller at 2.1. The subject separation without software like nvidia broadcast it's fantastic and the low light performance astonishing. There's no comparison on webcam level. Now, i understand the comments about second hand mirrorless, but to achieve this kind of quality on a mirrorless you have to spend more. like 400$ on a 6000 with kit lens. Will give you about the same quality (16mm 3.5 is equivalent). You might argue that bigger sensor gives better low light but, it's also 20 or 24 megapixel cameras, not 8 Megapixel like these webcams (razer and elgato's). Bigger pixels are better for low light so for low light video razer's webcam should equal or outperform a a5100 or a6000 with kit lens. Then there's the need for a capture card (80$) and dummy battery (20$) plus mounting (40$). And the hassle... it's not plug and play For a streamer with a fixed setup it would be better to go mirrorless route if the camera setup stays permanently there. Otherwise this webcam it's incredible value.
Can't wait to get this, I have the Kiyo Pro, and now I can do a proper upgrade
is it a windows hello webcam? so to use it for login on a desktop PC (like the Logitech)
If it takes synapse to run it, i'm not buying anything 🤣
I don't understand how a 300 dollar webcam can be considered any good since it doesn't even have windows hello features. You can substitute it for a simple camera and basically have a similar quality camera while also having a camera that you can take everywhere. The fact that they also didn't include a microphone block with the privacy cover seems like a missed opportunity for the privacy oriented individuals
They need to also port their software into a linux package.
I like how the quality dropped after he switched to the Razer Web Cam lmao
is this a 1inch sensor?
Do you hear that camgirls? Get that Razer webcamera
Always good for competition, just a shame that competition is charging £299.99 for a webcam...
right now i can find it locally for around 100€ instead of the 200€ it was before so i'm definitely getting it
Video looks too greenish/not enough red? Beside that the quality is great!
Why do you look like a Star Lord from Guardians of the galaxy lol
For 300 buy a used smartphone, has a little more latency but superior quality and resolution
Folks probably have one or two laying around anyway.
Does this camera work on Xbox series x for live streaming? Looking to upgrade thank you!
Wow...this is really impressive. I see you Razor!!!!!
Maybe it's KZheads compression, I would of swore you were in front of a green screen.
Just go with DJI action 2 for that price, use it as webcam and action camera with same quality
Does it work with macs (m1)?
Bit of a greenish tint in the colors. But excellent overall!
Next Video : This Webcam Destroyed Razer in every aspect
Some of these webcams are getting questionably expensive tbh they're going for $300-350 you might as well get something like a Panasonic G7 at that point for $400 and get MASSIVELY better image quality. Only one I've seen that's kinda worth it tho is the Insta360 cam.
When it shifted to the pink background, the background looked false. Almost like it's blue screen.
Sony one inch sensor? Sounds good. My problem SITLL with Razor is I was told a mouse was not within the replacement window they allow even though a receipt shows it was brand new then failed much too quickly. Razor, it was several years ago. And because you decided to ignore your own warrantee rules, I couldn't tell you how many people have now learned about that over a few years. Sure, we could talk about microswitches wearing out within 6 months from non-gaming use, where an "e-waste" peripheral by comparison still works to this day. Razor, you had the opportunity to make it right. Would have been nice if you followed your own warrantee guidelines. SO as nice as your camera looks? Just no. And not without comment on your not honoring your warrantee when your things break. Or your new Razor software no longer supports your old things that COULD still work fine. Just no.
instalink 360
Did you notice any auto-focus searching? I noticed it once during your video. Otherwise its a pretty good cam but very expensive.
personally, I think webcams need to drop mics and lower the price. no one uses webcam mics.
The latest Cisco 4k Webcam does 4k30 and 1080P60. Prob find it for under 150$... New 2021. It's 2023 now and 299 is not worth it. Although you get HDR....idk seems a little suspect for 299.
It looks really nice but for the price I think I would still go for the Insta360
I enjoy watching Chris Pratt making videos of PC gear. It's a breath of fresh air. 😎👊
Audio was edited in post, right?
Whats with the stutter?
So in short, it sucks UNLESS you turn off HDR as shown at 6:30
'Review unit provided free of charge by ????. This video is sponsored by ???' Is this a placeholder or is this video actually sponsored?
Ngl, the 4k 30 mode looks pretty choppy.
A Webcam so powerful it can see your DNA
Has A.I., must be good. A.I. seems to be the new Bluetooth. Difference is, Bluetooth exists.
coming from a Kiyo Pro what could I expect to see different? Just the 4k?
Except for those who uses insta360. Insta360 can even follow you. For the same price. 😅
Go with the $60 Anker C200 2k webcam and you'll be all set
Looks great but not for $300! I could be tempted for 50% of that price.
its pointless to have a webcam do more than 1080p tbh
I'm just wanting Razer to update/make more Orbweavers.
Every time I hear Synapse, I shudder.
