As students around the country set up Gaza solidarity encampments on their campuses, many universities have called in police who have arrested students and dismantled the sites. But students at a number of colleges have managed to negotiate agreements where administrators have acceded to some of their demands, including considering divestment from Israel. We speak with four students who have been involved in pro-Palestine protests on campuses at Middlebury College in Vermont, Evergreen College in Washington state, Brown University in Rhode Island and Rutgers in New Jersey.

Rachel Corrie's murder really showed how extremist the Israeli regime had become, and how it was pro-ethnic cleansing. And what happened to her could just as well happen to grandchildren of Israelis if they decide to protest. And if they convert from Judaism to a secularist agnosticism or something else (Buddhism?) then their homes could be destroyed and their land could be taken away and given to those more devoutly Jewish. It also shows the danger of electing really old people to high office. Biden was elected to the Senate 52 years ago at age 29. That's probably when he developed most of his political ideology, including supporting Israel, unconditionally. Whether it's been 6 months of genocide in Gaza or 20 years of ethnic cleansing in West Bank, we can see he's slow to change his views. Of course the Israeli lobby is out in full force to see that that doesn't happen!
If the Israeli forces could do what they did to Rachel, one can only imagine what they have done to the Palestinians for over three quarters of a century. The Zionists lack any remorse for the brutality and savagery of their actions. They claim, as a democracy, their regard for human life but it is clear they do not regard all lives, and especially Palestinian lives worthy of respecting and protecting. Hypocrisy reigns in Israel and the U.S.

Many if not most of the so-called protestors are not students but are paid anti-Israel agitators. They do it for the money and are bussed from campus to campus and supplied with expensive tents, gas masks and various and sundry non-lethal weapons with which to fight police and counter demonstrators. Only 6 of the "protestors", out of 27 arrested at the GWU encampment, were students. It's a shame that these PLO agitators/inciters, imposters pretending to be "pro-Palestinian", can blackmail Universities worldwide to foment hatred against Israel whose citizens, including small children and elderly, are still being held hostage by Hamas, a PLO proxy.

It's not just greed, but rather paralysis on a particular cause or ideology. That being America's (apparently) unconditional support for Israel. And there's good reason for that, like a safe place for Jews to govern themselves after the Holocaust, American guilt for allowing Jew-haters to prevent refugees from Europe during Nazi-dominance to come to America, a lot of pro-Israeli Jews in America who vote, an ally in the Middle East against terrorism, and it seeming to be both a secular state (pro-science) and a democracy. The problem is that situations change. Israel has been pro-ethnic cleansing for the last 20 years when Rachel Corrie was murdered during a protest by a bulldozer, and President Carter called it an apartheid state. And they've used the October 7th attack as a pretext to start a genocide in Gaza. The Netanyahu regime is also part of the worldwide, far-right movement to elect authoritarians like Putin. For those who developed their pro-Israel ideology in the 1970s or so, it must be really difficult to change.

And nonbinary people! Many of these students standing up for Palestine are nonbinary and it can make it harder for them when they are arrested. If the police can't figure out your gender often they isolate you and treat you worse or neglect you.

Only 6 of the "protestors", out of 27 arrested at the GWU encampment, were students. The rest were paid agitators. Thank the right people. the ones that paid for the tents, gas masks and weapons to fight the police.

If the only thing the university concedes to is to hold a hearing and vote on the matter, the work is not done. This is when students go to every faculty meeting, administrator meeting, department meeting and speak for a couple of meetings. Hold 1-1 meeting with each of them. Make your presence known and seen.
HEAR HEAR.. Don't have to Protest to Show FORCE.. Numbers matter.. they should show Up in the Hundreds and thousands if possible every single meeting... let them know we are NOT playing with them.
Many of them can't because they have classes to attend on unrelated matters.

Is it for humanity though? I understand standing up for the innocent Palestinians that are suffering due to this war. I remain totally shocked and disturbed regarding the large disconnect that is persisting within the US. THis is obviously a peace protest and a protest against the unrestrained killing and suffering of innocent lives in Gaza. I simply do not understand why this outrageous death toll, starvation, aid blockade, and ICJ findings are being interpreted as some fringe issue. Meanwhile the horror is literally streamed into our homes everyday. I have nothing but respect for these kids.

We as American citizens whose government has made clear their contempt for our demands and has acted with flagrant deceit and obscene indulgence in genocidal participation is now only being compelled towards change by this youth uprising. These young people, such as those featured here, have thrown out their dreams and ambitions, confronted arrest and violent abuse by our occupying stormtrooper police force, have exposed themselves to being harassed, doxxed, and targeted, and have had their reputations defiled by our multibillion dollar corporate propaganda complex. By giving these AMERICANS the platform to reveal the impact this revolution is having on the highest rungs of State power is precisely what we need to hear, for it is something which we can actively on an individual level participate in and recognize as proof that this genocidal giant can bleed. As gut wrenching and persuasive as learning about the nightmarish, gruesome scale of the genocide is, it can often only infect our resistance movement with despair and psychological torment. We need to hear from our fellow citizens that are inviting us to join their ranks and take ownership over those things within our own country that are in our power to change.

And if you turn away, He will replace you by some other people, then they will not be like you. These students are remarkable. They are smart, curious, and courageous. It was a privilege to learn from them.

THANKS TO THESE AMAZING AND INSPIRINGLY UNITED STUDENTS FOR MAKING SUCH IMPORTANT CHANGES IN A WORLD THAT IS FIGHTING ALL OVER AGAIN EVERY SINGLE WAR FOR EQUALITY ALREADY FOUGHT FOR OVER A CENTURY AGO. SACCO AND VANZETTI LOOK DOWN ON THESE AMAZING YOUNG PEOPLE WITH PEOPLE. Hopefully, They didn't give their lives in vain.
I hope graduates of those 4 colleges never be hired for prestigious or profitable job. Shame on colleges.
