I put the latches in the cab ... the strikers on the door ... used a negative groung relay to power a solinoid pulling down ... with a weldind wire added sticking out the floor underneath with a bolt head on it for a diquise ... then used ground buttons anywhere you want to put them to open the door ... I stuck one in the mirror ... to lock you shut of the power to the solinoids with a hidden keyed switch ...
Neat
Kuse the Doors handel as a switch
Nice design man good vision
Love watching those splices
@@per-olavrask4715 yeah some of the modern cars have built in switches...sure that could be modified to work the solenoid grounding too
I love how you show the good and the bad and mistakes. It gives regular people motivation to keep trying. Love the channel!
100% most of us think that we don't have the skills because when we make mistakes we don't know what to do to fix them. He shows mistakes can be easily fixed, it is just sheet metal.
Your such a great fabricator Brent just love you put everything together
I've always been partial to the frenched in door handles that are flush and pivot out , or a twist handle made to look like trim
As a Ram truck owner, it hurt a little to see it get chopped up but it will live on in other vehicles. Your ability to improvise on the fly always is impressive.
I don't know how many videos ahead you are but you could make some speaker box enclosures out of metal in the cab corners area to reinforce it and have a place to put speakers maybe some six by nines
i used the key lock as the exterior opener. welded the lock rod to the latch rod. when you turned the key the door opened.
I could not understand how bloody rough this was being done as you proceed with the drivers side latch. Then you improved it bit by bit. By the time you'd done that side it was fair to ugly but I could see the strength? Then you go to the right side and proceed to copy it in a fast and tidy manner such that I finally understood you had researched while you work and got them both good enough to trust and barely notice the construction. Just lucky I'm not a betting man or I might have done my dinner on this episode Brent. Compliments Ol' son! Staying subscribed for further surprises LOL!!!
Latches look great. Those post brackets look coo. If you're gonna put an inside panel behind the seat around the corner maybe the additional bracing could be incorporated into that? Look forward to more on the GMC. Be safe and stay well.
I love your ethos of repurposing Brent. It always amazes me the vision you have.
Looking great thanks for sharing
Awesome Brent...lots goin' on....looks great 👍🤠
Loving This project more and more as she comes along
Great job Brent!
It seems like adding a piece of sheet metal behind the latch post boxing it in would make it more sturdy and wouldn't take up room
Real nice job Brent looks great
Looks great Brent!
Truck is coming along great
Nice job! And the music is exellent!!
Brent, Instead of a removal roof, why don't you just put a solid roof with an inbuilt eletric sunroof?
OUTSTANDING AS "USUAL" !!!
great work mate, keep at it
Getting there all the time while still setting up the shop 😊
Brent thank for sharing the fabricating on door latches. Take care.
Love the shaved door handle look
Nice use of the Dodge door latches!
Nice work sir
Awesome truck and a great ideal. I'm watching from Berlin in Germany and really enjoy watching you doing you got to do. Thanks. Thumb up
Those latches worked out nice Brent!
Never easy... You always get it done, for me that's really good for what needs too be done, Neat and thanks for all your hard work!...
It’s looking good!
Turning junk into useful goodness! Love it, Brent 💯👍
Looking good.
You are so expiring Brend. The end product is going to look so good 👍
Thank you. You are definitely a genius!
Brent, I reinforced my roadster body by forming a 1x1 square tubing to match the back radius (replaced the oak part). Only loose an inch of room, but made the body much stronger.
Never a dull moment and second guessing is the hardest thing
36:16. Think I’d still sheet brake similar gusset’s for the 3 vertical braces in the back wall of the cab
Those turned out Nice
WOW your not afraid to do anything. That was one project I would not have even considered. Great work.
Thanks for another , Brother !
Hey Brent! Looking good nice work my friend. 😃😃
You better check the valve springs. Notorious for breaking and dropping valves into the cylinder. 😬 If you find one broke, replace them all.
That is just too kool! Digging it!
Put an electric solenoid in b/pillar with a button in cab somewhere to open doors from inside.
Excellent idea on the lower door bracket. That should stiffen the area well .
Nice adaptation. That Hemi is probably on its second cam and lifters. Needle bearings in a lifter…what could go wrong?
when all is said and done, please paint it. any color tractor paint would be perfect love how your mind goes to another place to create art on tires.
Like the holes in those gusits .😊
Watching your thought process is a breath of fresh air. Always move forward, until you have to back up a bit and take another run at it....
HI again Halfass Costoms Brent and Ester from the D Michigan 😁 thanks for sharing another great video update on your progress of the Truck 👍🤩
Very nice!
i have a 49 shoebox ford and have door latch problems thanks for sharing your video thats what i want to do now
Looks great Brent…
Looking good
Haha. Love it, didn’t think that through. I so recognized myself. Great videos as always.
Yeah they turned out all right. Good job!.👍👍🙂🐕🇨🇦
I always enjoy your videos and have learned and applied some of your techniques. I will be interested in the mopar engine as we have an old Plymouth we'd like to update. I've been told they are one of the more difficult/expensive to use for a swap. Thanks for sharing.
Great creative work as always, however I was waiting to hear some music from the Doors, or maybe Bob Marley’s Jammin. I guess one of the main things about you is just straight out confidence. You can make it happen,
My hemi swap, I pulled the engine apart and inspected each piece. Also replaced the lifters and got rid of the mds system. I now have plenty of power, efficiency, and no lifter tick in my 79 Cherokee.
I’ve had two 5.7 hem both had the same ticking noise, once warmed up i t quieted down, was miss one exhaust stud😊
Great use of the modern latches, looking forward to see how you deal with the encrypted ECU on the HEMI (and i'm hoping you keep the 3rd pedal in the coupe).
Love it
Excellent video Brent :) those door work super 👍 agree to that and should be trouble free to yes ! Also yes those Cummings Desiel 5.9 litre have knock bit like on cold start till after 15 minutes clear if not that usually knock is mean need bleeding injectors on head or injection pump and sometimes saying need valves some adjustments to tighten up bit or need engine oil need changed too! You can try put 200 ml of GM Automatic Transmission fluid in fuel tank too and quickly take knock out to help lots!
How about that a Dodge part worth using on a GMC!
Very innovative job on the latches. Waiting for next one.
cant wait to see wat door poppers you use ive used some off amazon and they always stop working i think to much rain kills them
Good.job Nice GMC good show 👍👍👏👏👏👏
good show always good 2 watch u.😎👍
You could still have had the Latch assembly in the door post, just set the interior door handle on the floor by the B post ! !
The latch’s looks great now it’s part RAM 👍👋🇨🇦
those ram 5.7s are bad for breaking Exhaust Manifold bolts and cracking the manifolds. that is what I have had the most issues with
Thanks!
Thanks man!
NICE, your busting some new tunes and cool moves!
lol I could actually see a lightbulb go off when you opened the door!
Bend you a piece of pipe to go all the way around near the floor to make it more ridged. The latches are way cool. I sure do like me some old chevy bellair's , I bet you could find one around there somewhere....lol😊😊😊
I live in Brazil, here you can hardly find American cars from 30s,40s,50s,60s,70s anymore, you have several in your collection, congratulations..
Wao increible de show
If it were me, I'd put those little gussets at every vertical on the back wall. Behind the seat. I dig it.
yes the inside and maybe in middle if you are going to have a console.
Love to send you my van(2001 dodge b1500), to put in the 4x4 stuff from that dodge,,, your the only one I know who could make it work. Maybe even a hemi swap as well. Love to have that 5 speed in my 2016 power wagon, too
Electric system + hidden battery loading/ jumper cable fixed underneath the car to help others out and yourself without popping the hood.
Definitely be careful welding on doors with the glass down in them. They did that to our kabota buggy at work and the window exploded because of the heat. Looking good so far. Love the bed. 👍
Check out an older air cooled vw convertable for structure ideas
Very ingenious!! Who needs bear claw latches? Take care and catch you later.
I am always amazed, at how quickly you find a workable solution to a problem.
That light bulb moment when you realised you had forgotten the inner door handle made me laugh 😂😂 but like always you sorted it and I'm sure it will be good in the end.
Nice insurance job bro 👌
Nice
Did mine exactly the same. But forget to remove the latch before welding it in the door. They melt. Lol
I've just seen where they sell remote switches
The smile on your face says it all , you are getting the truck done one success after another and the way you want it to be . Thank you for a most informative video . Stuart in Ontario ..
That noise in your hemi could be a cracked or warped exhaust manifold.
I would have just ran a cable down to the floor and put a little pedal to the side in the floor to open it on the inside.
That looks very difficult to do 😮
Very nice work Brent. Those door latches were cherry. Thank you for sharing! ❤️💯👍👊
Great work today man . I just ran into a big problem on my build . I put bigger cam new lifters, push rods, and double timing chain in and now the Distributor won't go back down into the oil pump. It is a 305 sbc . Any ideas
Are you going to put a slot on back side of a ( pipe) like you did on the rear panels, then install a curve to help the rear of the cab from moving?
Latches look and work well. As always..waitin on the next one..later!
Great job. Thanks for sharing.
