Actually the city government is emotional too. Their actions are driven by fear, hatred and power hunger.
So very true!! They are definitely operating from a place of emotional terror and fear!
Not necessarily. You don’t have be fearful or hateful to be invested in power.

"Leaving your home this late is illegal!" "Then why are you outside?"
Yeah, its so stupid
It just a movie chill
He's a security
This entire book series is excellent.
This is not a book. This is socialism. The only missing thing is mass poverty

But movie is crap.

Thank you for the recap! 😁

did you know you are a sinner? But did you know that Jesus loves you and He can change that? All you have to do is believe Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead 3 days later, repent, and give your life to God, Jesus loves you, it’s your choice if you want to accept or denie Him.
It's at the start of the video.
So… was there still humanity outside? The house had electricity running after all and seemed in good shape. Was that memory from someone who had also left- an ordinary person not a giver or what not.
Based on the books, yes.
Ye, movie kind of makes it look like the whole earth is abandoned but in book its a small community
I seem to remember that in the book you can't tell at the end if they made it somewhere real, or if they died and he was dreaming it in heaven or something. I never understand in this story why everyone else remembers when he leaves???

What a beautiful story. I wouldn't have watched this movie so these recaps are really doing all of us a favor presenting these amazing stories.
i know right ! just long enough that you don't get bored watching it but at the same time, you're getting all the information needed to say that you have watched the movie
The ending made me cried
I am sick so sometimes i'm in a lot of pain, for some reason, i think its the music and the voice, but your recaps always help with the pain so thank you so much.
I suffer from nerve pain, full body spasms and other stuff. I agree with you
I don't usually pray for strangers but I will for you. May god bless you.
This is actually pretty good
So it's like the movie Equilibrium but with less blood lol
so, the way to break the whole system is by passing through a barrier? why couldn't the old Giver do that? feels rather far-fetched, including the instant recognition everybody has about their true self, feelings and emotions. could that father truly have instantly acknowledged the situation? i would have expected everybody to fall to the floor holding their heads while trying to adapt to the newly aquired emotions. as such, the ending is rather lacking for me.
apparently this movie is based on a written novel, i'm sure there it is better explained but as a movie it does feel contrived
the amount of bots, 5 year olds, and trolls in this comment section makes me lose hope in humanity... decent looking movie though, however the plot has been used... WAY too much
No, other movies have copied this plot, it was a book originally published in 1993 by Lois Lowry...
This was a book from 1993, nice attempt at intelligence though.
Sorry you didn't get the group of distinguished gentlemen that you were hoping for in the worthless movie read-by-machine comments section.
Yup... end of the world... these days it's always global warming bs, and government in total control over remaining population... I honestly think that these movies are written by the cia.
holy shit this comment is from a bot? I guess its not that sophisticated but props to whoever wrote the comment, its a good bot comment, def tricked me 😂
ooh man i have seeen this, it was amazing
i actually read The Giver book for this for school its a really good book
I kind of cried when the twin scene happened in the book. Only time that ever happened 😭
Happens all across America every day. Very sad. People should do something about it but they won’t.
@@mike-yd4py No it doesnt lmao, the fuck you mean hospitals are killing twins?
I read the book, book is insanely good
Amazing book!!!! I read it in high school
I had no clue they made a movie out of this!! Read the book in like 2012 in middle school!
Thank you for confirming. I detest YA literature.
In order to have friends you have to have and express emotions
When i was a kid, i read the giver at least 10x. That book made me love reading
Our teacher made us read this book and write our own ending, what about yours?
Read the book in 6th grade. Excellent book.
This movie plot is similar to Equilibrium. In regards to emotions being suppressed.
this is like mr beast video stay in the circle but extreme
The montage when The Giver shares all of the wonders and horrors of the human experience is deeply moving. This film is beautifully done.
Equals + Pleasantville + Equilibrium - guns
who else had to read this book for school...
What’s the piano music called
they made me read this book in school and do a book report on it
me too!
This is basically a longer version of "Anthem" by Ayn Rand.

I remember reading this book in jr high or high school. I never knew they made a Hollywood movie about it! Such an interesting and dystopic world that's built up

Sounds like modern America. Well at least it sounds like California New York.
Only rightwingers bash the expensive lib cities that they cant afford WAHHHHHHHH
Awesome
A mysterious mist and a barrier??? nope its just clouds and there isnt a barrier
So basically equilibrium
Cool video
First book that I read that stayed in my memory after more than a decade. I still remember when I was in theaters watching previews for up coming movies when I was first announced. I swore the scenes shown and certain details were so familiar and just before the title for whatever this film was, internationally and outwardly, I said “wait a minute, isn’t this-?” and like if it were the opening to an episode to Invincible, the title dropped with perfect timing. I lost a good pare of pants that day and the chair I occupied might’ve had to have been removed by a biohazard team.
I loved this book. I remember arguing they found people outside, and a classmate countered the claim saying "Jonas was witnessing the last good memories he had, since it's what we do in death" and that hit me
There is a book on this "The Giver"
Part 2?
Hey this was good🙂
I read the book awesome
The amount of random famous people in this movie

Danm, it sounds just like the flat earth believe... I read this book 3 times, but never thought the flat earth had the same concept. how the world is a circle ... everything...
World isn't a circle, there's just a circle of territory the city controls, it's still just normal Earth outside of it.

I read this before and tbh the book is better
Very true it my favorite book from my childhood.
I remember dis movie in my sophomore English class 😭😭😭
The second half of the book seems way better. They really went off the rails here with the story 😂

Ah, such a bad movie. Whole plot doesnt make any sense, especially at end when main character finds house in middle nowhere. How crossing borders will set memories free? Why preventing people to see colors? This movie literally dont make any sense.
Anothr bland dystopian movie where the government hates the concept of love.

While some of the things that society did could be considered sketchy given how much their society was peaceful and successful I get getting rid of Jonah. Society was amazing even for being in black and white no wars, crime, disease, or even poverty.
You do know that this is just a small community and the rest of humanity lives outside, right?
