TAYLOR and the Other pilots at the Carson California base, if they’re not busy, They will take you up to the AIRSHIP and let you walk around it and explain the features to you and even let you sit in the cabin in the Pilots seat, if they’re not busy! All very nice people, very friendly! I am very lucky to know them!

I've often wondered what it would be like to have seen the Hindenburg (approx. 803' long.) I believe the Goodyear blimp is about the size of one of the Hindenburg's vertical stabilizers.

@@hovanti Please use Metric! Your measure system is stupid. Check this math magic: The Hindenburg is 245 meter long what is 24500 centimeter what is 245000 millimeter. You don't know how I did that do you? It's European magic. Now check this: The Hindenburg is 803.805774 feet long or 803 feet 943⁄64 inches if you like this way better.

When I was maybe 6 or 7 my twin sister and I were fortunate enough to ride on a Goodyear blimp. It was in Texas around 1976. Amazing experience that I will never forget. I still remember the big trim wheel, and the pilot let us spin it and see the blimp pitch up and down.

I remember the 30 yrs back while swimming at Center Lake in Warsaw Indiana one Saturday, a Goodyear blimp appeared and was passing by when it veered and flew directly overhead. As it did so the words "Hello Warsaw from the Goodyear blimp America" flashed along the side. People went crazy yelling and waving, me included! So cool of that Captain to do that!

I can remember as a child growing up in northwest Houston back in the late 70's/early eighties and the blimp would buzz our subdivision quite often. You could hear it coming from miles away. I had a friend who's dad knew someone and we got to take a ride around. Lots of fun.

This blimp used to fly over my house all the time. I lived about 2 miles from the hangar. It's at wingfoot lake near Akron Ohio. I recognize the shot at 2:10, the building with the green roof on the shore of the lake is the Springfield Ohio fire/police department.

Even though Goodyear still refers to its airships as "Blimps" they aren't blimps at all. The last Goodyear Blimp was retired in 2017. This is a Goodyear Zeppelin because it has a rigid airframe. Cool fact: It was built by the same German company that built the HIndenburg back in the day.

This isn't a Blimp. It's a "Zeppelin NT". A true german invention. That's a big difference because it's semi rigid and therefore the engines can be fitted on the hull which means better maneuverability and less noise inside the cabin. So this type of airships can be bigger (they are currently the biggest operating airships in the world) and you need less people to handle them on the ground.

Not the company that operates in anyway that would be GOOD YEAR T&R As far as I know Goodyear is still alive and well Now….as a company in Germany company in Germany that built the AIRSHIP (zeppelin New Technologies), I do not know about them, I think they’re still around Goodyear just leased a “WING FOOT” TypeAIRSHIP from them in Europe to use for advertising! I hope “N T ZEPPELIN” is still around!

I'm here after I dreamt of this specific GoodYear blimp. But in my dream, this thing had a long tail and it flew so fast! I remember it crashed near the river that flows through our village, and I did want to go there on my motorbike to see if it crashed as close as I thought it did, but I was reluctant to do it and I just ended up not going. Eventually, I saw on a radar that its remains had quickly been moved away by the Government or whoever. Moral of the story: Don't consume dairy if you're sensitive to it; it makes you have wild dreams. It's very fun though - better than reality. And btw, this is not the first time I dream of this specific GoodYear blimp. I don't even know how I know about them apart from seeing one of them on Grand Theft Auto as a kid way back in 2006. But they didn't have the GoodYear logo on them so idk.

@@imamsukoco1298 Airplanes are moving very quickly when they land, even with flaps down. Airships are slow by design, so I'd figure landing would be easier because of it.

Even though Goodyear still refers to its airships as "Blimps" they aren't blimps at all. The last Goodyear Blimp was retired in 2017. This is a Goodyear Zeppelin because it has a rigid airframe. Cool fact: It was built by the same German company that built the HIndenburg back in the day.

This isn't a Blimp. It's a "Zeppelin NT". A true german invention. That's a big difference because it's semi rigid and therefore the engines can be fitted on the hull which means better maneuverability and less noise inside the cabin. So this type of airships can be bigger (they are currently the biggest operating airships in the world) and you need less people to handle them on the ground.
Did the brand that made the first Wingfoot go bankrupt? Nothing wrong with asking the Germans to build one, they have pleeenty of experience in that area anyway.

Not the company that operates in anyway that would be GOOD YEAR T&R As far as I know Goodyear is still alive and well Now….as a company in Germany company in Germany that built the AIRSHIP (zeppelin New Technologies), I do not know about them, I think they’re still around Goodyear just leased a “WING FOOT” TypeAIRSHIP from them in Europe to use for advertising! I hope “N T ZEPPELIN” is still around!

I'm here after I dreamt of this specific GoodYear blimp. But in my dream, this thing had a long tail and it flew so fast! I remember it crashed near the river that flows through our village, and I did want to go there on my motorbike to see if it crashed as close as I thought it did, but I was reluctant to do it and I just ended up not going. Eventually, I saw on a radar that its remains had quickly been moved away by the Government or whoever. Moral of the story: Don't consume dairy if you're sensitive to it; it makes you have wild dreams. It's very fun though - better than reality. And btw, this is not the first time I dream of this specific GoodYear blimp. I don't even know how I know about them apart from seeing one of them on Grand Theft Auto as a kid way back in 2006. But they didn't have the GoodYear logo on them so idk.
I also had a dream with a blimp! I dreamt that the Hindenburg airship was traveling over some large grass land and I realized what was gonna happen and I ran away but it didn’t end up crashing lol

You need a heavier than air rating (Or license) and a lighter than air rating! Goodyear trains all its pilots in house!

Very comfortable to fly with airship, but this ship difficult to take off and landing.
I'd imagine that landing is easier in an airship than in an airplane.

@@imamsukoco1298 Airplanes are moving very quickly when they land, even with flaps down. Airships are slow by design, so I'd figure landing would be easier because of it.
