Slartibartfast i mean i could have been staged but just because May did not have any sort of control or clearances doesnt mean that the helicopter that filmed everything didnt have it, the heli was flying quite a bit higher and had to zoom in quite much so that tells us that it flew on the border to the controlled airspace

The US government had been looking into a hybrid airship in like 2015. They had planned to go ahead and purchase several but I'm not sure what happened because I heard about them for 2 or 3 years and then nothing. I think the future vertical lift program may have canceled the purchase. The airship was really cool and was supposed to be fuel efficient. Instead, it looks like they will purchase either a smaller, newer tiltrotor or a dual, coaxial rotor with push prop helicopter. While expensive they're far more practical

I love this show
How did he lose control of an airship and drift into Norwich ATC airspace?
+Brecconable because he's Captain Sense-Of-Direction
+Brecconable Because blimps don't steer well.
Because it is in the script. He pretends to be captain clueless so as per the scenario he has to drift away to somewhere where there is supposed danger. Also back at the time this was projected, there was still some talk of reviving the airship technology with modern versions but of course there were numerous and highly powerful interests against that, hence it is not at all accidental they were given this scenario to do, i.e. creating a ridiculous airship (not really an airship but a hot-air-balloon) with a caravan strapped, piloted by Captain Slow and heading into an airport.
Panos A thanks for ruining the joke
+Tonio Potonio I still like it as a joke, yet I know there is also an underlying reality behind some of the most popular television shows. Now in this occasion one may claim that there is not necessarily any clear propaganda, yet in the case of the Tesla Roadster - what was back then the world's most advanced electric car - it is clear-cut that the "petrolhead" TG team hated the idea of an electic car that put to shame their best gasoline ones in acceleration and thus resolved to defame the car in the most digusting way, i.e. faking failures.
Control Room : It is imperative that you remain well clear Pilot : Cannot comply, I have no control over airship owing to wind conditions Control Room : (I don't fakin care how you do it, ) remain well clear.
That’s a very strong blimp
