    • @@mitchellcotton7346 Yeah, I think to even have a chance of getting to the top of any of the strongman tiers you probably need that myostatin gene or you just won't build enough muscle. Negative about the hercules gene is you're pretty much guaranteed to not live past 80 or so, but who needs to live much older than that?

    • Dude wanted the lift more than anything else. Even said he probably would have gotten himself killed chasing it if he couldn't get it. In an interview he said if he could do it again he would, and admitted his lifestyle is costing him decades of his life. Its just what passion does to a man.

    • Definitely not one of the GOATs in strongman. He was a beast, but he won 1 WSM title, never made the podium at the Arnold Classic and never won Europe's Strongest Man. Static strength-wise, he's one of the GOATs for sure though

  • Eddie breaking the axle OHP record with literally 0 leg drive and way more energy still in the tank is honestly one of the most dominant moments in modern strongman. It's a shame we never saw him try his maximum effort on the axle, cuz I feel like if he gave it, he would have been able to get over 510lbs

    • It was 1100 pounds that he lifted that day. Top right corner shows 500KG. 500 KG is over 1100 pounds. 250 kg is probably he does for reps before a light workout without breakfast.

    • Eddie, especially in the later parts of his strongman career was a world-class stone lifter. I do not think he could have challenged Brian for max stone due to his short arms, but he treated the regular stones like basketballs.

    • Wanna throw in another name there, Kirill Sarychev. Amazing powerlifter. He had the world record in raw benchpress with 335kg (RAAAW!!) and also have the world record for three lift powerlift with the combined weight of 1082.5kg, he benched 320kg, squated 360kg and deadlifter 402.5kg. I know that he isn't in the same sport, the ones you said are all strongmen, Kirill is a powerlifter, but I think that his feats is worth meantioning and to be impressed with in this area!

    • @@rannethtan The nosebleed is actually the most normal thing about that. The narrators explained it a little bit in the clip but basically the blood vessels inside your nose are very small, fragile, and close to the surface, so they're much more prone to bleeding.

  • In one of the deepest eras ever, & in an era full of literal Giants, 6'2 Eddie (he's not 6'3) reached the pinnacle of the sport & was undoubtedly for a time the strongest guy (statically) on the planet. Wasn't bad at moving events either to be fair. Shame he walked away but he still left an indelible mark on strength sport history.
