The conclusion to the final movie in Christoper Nolna's Dark Knight Series.

Giving Bruce Wayne a happy ending as opposed to having him killed off, to me, feels like Chris Nolan is thanking his fans for sticking with him throughout the entire trilogy.

I love that Selena also smiled at the end. Bruce probably kept tabs on Alfred and knew that eventually, once Lucius, Jim and Robin had realized that he wasn't dead, word would get to Alfred it would prompt him to resume his quest from decades earlier, going back to that cafe in Venice. Bruce undoubtedly told Selena about this. She didnt even have to turn to see Alfred. She saw Bruce's reaction, and she just knew. I love that tiny detail. I'd like to think that in time, Bruce and Alfred would have resumed contact with each other. But the whole point of the silent meeting in Venice was so that they wouldn't have to...that Alfred would know he was happy and would never have to return to Gotham.

I love the subtle ways that Bruce showed people he was still alive, Leading Robin to the cave(ok that wasn’t so subtle), the nod to Alfred in Venice, but my favorite was repairing the Bat signal. I really like how Gordon notices it out of the corner of his eye, runs his hand over it and looks around hoping to see the Batman once more.
@aMarita79Ай бұрын
Not only that but how it symbolically showed that Blake would continue the Title of Batman onward after Bruce. Even the bats flew by Blake in the cave similar to how they did with Bruce as he held the lantern in Batman Begins.

I would say the top two superheroes ever created are Batman and Spider-Man. What they stand for, the responsibility they feel they have, what they are willing to give. Honestly the best part of this is the shared look of love and thankfulness that is shared between Bruce and Alfred. There is so much translated and said with just a look and a nod. Alfreds' relief and elated happiness that Bruce has finally found peace, and the love and appreciation that Bruce has for Alfred to make his dream come true after everything that Alfred has done for him... just perfect.

I seriously cannot understand why people think that they should not of shown Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle sitting there. and saying "Alfred's reaction was enough." BULLSHIT. it was very subtle and when I saw that in theaters I was like"What is Alfred looking at? is he looking at Bruce Wayne? I wanna know for sure!" and then they show Bruce and Selina and I'm like, "YES, that seals it, Batman did indeed not die and now he's with Catwoman. Thank you so much for clearing that up."
@jayNicks1010 жыл бұрын
It's what some directors do, sometimes to leave intrigue and make the audience keep talking about it. It's like Inception (Nolan's other movie) at the ending...you wonder if the top will keep spinning or will it fall to reveal if it was a dream or reality. We will never know and it's left to the audience to decide...
@kjames146310 жыл бұрын
LAME.
@jayNicks1010 жыл бұрын
Jay Nicks I think if the studio left it up for Nolan, Nolan would've just left it with Alfred reacting. However, the studio expected the audience to be pissed (similar to your reaction), so to reduce the likelihood of public uproar, they told Nolan to reveal who Alfred was looking at. Sometimes leaving the audience with a sense of wonderment is the goal. It keeps people talking.

Nolan was always a dark, more gritty, realist storyteller. But all the while still having that spark of hope. The fire of the human spirit that refuses to be extinguished. Batman is the embodiment of that ideal and one of the most formidable characters in the DCU; as a MORTAL MAN. This was a good homage and “fairytale ending” so Bruce can finally relax and let a new generation take up the mantle.

Its honestly such a good twist of fate. We all know what would be a realistic batman ending. In the end , we rooted for batman but no one rooted better than Alfred and his arc to trying to get bruce to have a life was something of a tragedy. So this finishes Alfred's arc and while seeing bruce alive would make him happier. NOTHING would make him truly happy than bruce actually having a life outside the tragedy. Thats why its the end.

If someone wonders if Alfred actually saw Bruce or an hallucination, notice that, in movies, when there is a ghost or an hallucination in front of someone, and someone or something passes in the middle of the person and the hallucination, the hallucination disappears. But in the scene where Alfred looks at Bruce, some people pass in the middle of them (in front of the camera) and the image of Bruce doesn't disappear; therefore, he isn't an hallucination, but he's actually there; he's alive.

❤
Ohhh! I love this! Definitely makes sense.
or she's smiling at her bf
I see a lot of love for Nolan and not enough for Zimmer. He's the man!!!
YES! Thank you. Happy someone notices.
@@jaredtgriffinatyahoo We know that Hanz did his thing.
We know... we that know...know
As important, if not more. So sad they don't work together anymore.
you mean james newton howard he wrote the score your lidtening to no zimmer
I love the subtle ways that Bruce showed people he was still alive, Leading Robin to the cave(ok that wasn’t so subtle), the nod to Alfred in Venice, but my favorite was repairing the Bat signal. I really like how Gordon notices it out of the corner of his eye, runs his hand over it and looks around hoping to see the Batman once more.
Not only that but how it symbolically showed that Blake would continue the Title of Batman onward after Bruce. Even the bats flew by Blake in the cave similar to how they did with Bruce as he held the lantern in Batman Begins.
It is a wink to Sherlock Holmes, who did the same with his loved ones
Can’t forget Fox figuring out Bruce fixed the autopilot
My favorite was the nod to Alfred in Venice.
Bale will always be the best Batman. Screw the haters, I absolutely love this trilogy.
100%. Bale was top batman.
Can’t agree enough!
Totally agree!!!!
Still, the College Humor parodies are hysterical you gotta admit 😂
I still wonder how some think otherwise. No questions he’s the best.
It's no small irony that the greatest superhero ever (DC or Marvel) has no superpowers whatsoever.
His superpower is he is the best!!!!
No, it's that he's "rich."
"rich and nuts"
I would say the top two superheroes ever created are Batman and Spider-Man. What they stand for, the responsibility they feel they have, what they are willing to give. It's a shame they are owned by separate studios. It would be amazing to have them work together or get to know one another without either ever finding out who the other was.
Just like Iron Man.
That smile on Gordon's face when he looks around for Bruce, 😭😭
To see Bruce Wayne smiling and happy at the end... Gets me every time. Such a beautiful scene.
Amen❤
It's also mean bruce Wayne is still alive
Double Amen. You guys remember the android game of this movie?
When Morgan Freeman makes that little twitich in his face in response to the ID on the software patch being "Bruce Wayne" makes the hairs on my arm prick up. Goosebumps.
Watching Alfred crying so desperately… poor man.
This is a thing about batman. He's not strong like superman, fast like flash, can't swim like Aquaman, still is one of the most iconic heroes. So is the irony of one of the best superheroes of dc.
Yet Batman is nothing without his money except for an above average fighter in hand to hand combat
Christopher Nolan is the greatest director of this generation.
An astonishing conclusion to the series!!! Love the moment where Alfred and Bruce look at each other from across the tables in the cafe. They don't speak a word yet Alfred is proud to see that Bruce has finally found peace. I also love how Gotham is left in Blake's hands. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES may not reach the levels of the first two films, but it was the perfect ending to Nolan's masterpiece, THE DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY!
I don’t think there has ever been a trilogy/series of movies that has ever ended better than this one! Christopher Nolan is truly a genius!
Amazing trilogies deserves a beautiful ending and Rises didn't disappoint
+Dan Tee it certainly did not
Sublime way of handing over the mantle of a new Dark Knight to Robin.
Gives me goosebumps every time I watch it...Epic!
the soundtrack gets me in the feels every time! wonderful story with a beautiful score!
What’s the name of the score?
best ending ever.. closing all open stories and keeping a room open for future Batman series with new cast completely synced.. Awesome
Bruce began the trilogy, honouring his parents by becoming Batman. He ends the trilogy honouring Alfred, by putting aside his guilt and living a happy life. I love that these movies gave Alfred a win.
One of the best comments I've read about this
Honestly the best part of this is the shared look of love and thankfulness that is shared between Bruce and Alfred. There is so much translated and said with just a look and a nod. Alfreds' relief and elated happiness that Bruce has finally found peace, and the love and appreciation that Bruce has for Alfred to make his dream come true after everything that Alfred has done for him... just perfect.
Gordon like a happy child seeing the bat signal restored was great to see. Nolan is a genius.
Only movie that has gotten me to cry twice...
On the same watch, as in once about 50 minutes in and the other here.
The ending was just very perfectly balance with emotion and goosebump.
LAME.
Moreover, we all hoped Bruce is not dead! Now we know he's alive and well. What a relief.
The music at the end always gets me! Hans Zimmer is a GENIUS!
Real tears man.. real tears
What I love about Nolan’s rendition of the Batman is his play on the classic characters. When I saw this in theater and finding out that Blake is Robin my jaw dropped. And seeing him having Batman and Catwomen as end game is great. Like it does not get any better than that.
To me, Blake's Robin-reveal was like the forces of good reacting to Miranda's Talia-reveal.
Nightwing Begins >_>
nolan and his badass endings
Very touching ending, something that we all hold close to our hearts.
If you dont cry at 0:51 you are a strong human being.
this and the dark knight are the 2 greatest superhero movies i saw in the theater ever
Who wants to pitch in some cash to buy a big searchlight and create "the Nolan signal"? because god knows we need him now more than ever...
1:29 the desks make a joker face
I wanted to cry on the theatre when I saw the statue
Nolan was always a dark, more gritty, realist storyteller. But all the while still having that spark of hope. The fire of the human spirit that refuses to be extinguished. Batman is the embodiment of that ideal and one of the most formidable characters in the DCU; as a MORTAL MAN. This was a good homage and “fairytale ending” so Bruce can finally relax and let a new generation take up the mantle.
Nah, it’s better than DC Comics canon because Batman is a title, or more than just a person, with Blake taking on the title after Bruce.
Fox's face on 3:00 is like this mother fucker 😂😂😂 best ending ever 👌 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hands down!!! Greatest superhero movie ever made.
2:18 crazy enough, Christian Bale actually opened up 12 new orphan homes this past month. He’s really Bruce Wayne !!
It was not only the story telling, imagine the Alfred batman eye contact moments. If a Mexican music's play their it won't be that intense. Music is the thing that gives the ending story the height and feel. Hans Zimmer just elevated the whole theme and gives them a feel.
It's a delicate thing in storytelling to tie up loose ends while allowing ample opportunities for new ones to exist.
this ending made me cry in front of my friends in theaters. the one time i ever cried in front of anyone...especially when Alfred started crying too...
I just realized the final scene, where John Blake steps onto the platform...where it RISES HIM UP....Nolan's symbolism: Bruce Wayne hopes John Blake will rise up to take his mantle... mind blown
thats kind of what the scene is trying to get across...
***** That's kind of what my statement is trying to get across...
Mind=blown when everyone realised this 2 years ago
Joshua Thompson Yea sure buddy
Well Sean and I both thought it was obvious
I'm glad that they hinted at a new beginning, then never made a fourth movie. Sometimes the best ending/beginning is the one we imagine for ourselves.
I find myself coming to this ending quite often, arguably the greatest triology ever created
Always making me cry. That was so real.
Second best movie ending ever.
Whats the first?
Ricky Chen PoRz Anabel The Dark Knight is the first.
What is it what is it won't pull over Batman Batman
Surprised you didn't say Iron Man 3
The ending scene at 4:28 was my favorite, seeing them together in the end.
This is not just a scene, it's an emotion.. ❤❤❤❤
Love him or hate him Nolan sure knows how to end a movie! Fantastic!
Who could ever hate Nolan
Michael Caine is suck an amazing actor.... And this ending... the best ending ever I have to say... Nolan is a genius
Hans Zimmer 👌🏻👍🏻 what an epic Soundtrack to an epic ending The Story of Batman never get better than thos triolgy
0:40 Sir Michael Caine…. Just breaks me everytime here…..
One best film everything trilogy the dark knight, thank you nolan
Most epic and touching ending to a trilogy ever
Genuinely cannot pick a favorite of the three each movie is just as good as the last and they all build so well, this ending definitely gives chills though🎉
Get the chills Everytime
Love this whole scene, gets me every time! Love the whole trilogy. Very powerful and emotional. Love the eulogy by Gordon, so moving. Nolan’s Batman is the best!!!
Having seen countless movies, hands down this has to be the ultimate Batman trilogy, no debate on that
WB: You really started something here, Superheroes in the Real World, Hope for the fans Nolan: But WB: Marvel is beating us, and now we got three mediocre DC movies. Nolan: We will, we can bring DC back. WB: what about escalation? Nolan: Escalation? WB: We make Man of Steel, Marvel make Winter Soldiers, We make Batman v Superman, they made Civil War Nolan: And? WB: You are the one of the few directors that made quality DC films. WB: Take this guy, Directed by Zack Synder, has a taste for the theatrical like you, leaves a calling card. Nolan: I'll look into it. WB:We never said thank you. Nolan: And you never have to. Nolan jumps off rooftop.

TheEasterling666 That was epic
TheDarkness666 I didn't realise it till ... Take this guy ... Nolan jumps off rooftop ... Epic XD
such a powerful and hopeful ending!
I just realized this last night where Batman’s statue is, is where two faces was and we know how there was two sides to his death which keeps the trend with this current “death” Batman died but Wayne lives
Bruce Wayne ,chose a life few could have followed.. To stand for those that had no voice, for those that lived in fear, he believed that people should have justice and it should never be out of reach of anyone. In that scene he was right "a Hero can be anyone even a man putting his coat on a little boy letting him know the word had not ended" Out of all the super heroes that have every been bought to life Batman has remained the very best of them.. Just an imperfect man trying to fix a broken world.
I love the ending just awesome and emotional.
Favorite ending it’s everything
Noble work of Nolan ❤......the master piece of batman
So epic. So beautiful. So perfect.
One of the greatest endings ever.
I don't think there ever will be a better Batman series! Nolan and Hans Zimmer have set the bar in outer space!!
God I love him so much and never want to let him go., We have to in this best way.
Always get goosebumps rewatching this.
should have included the end credits, give it that complete nolan touch
Golden days of life😢
1:30 to 1:37 Does anyone see an easter egg for the Joker?
LOL! the clown face smile, good find :D
Nice
Still cracks me up seeing it....
My favourite part of the ending was Alfred discovering Bruce got his happy ending with Selina. He just nods, to say "I'm happy for, sir. Goodbye" and gets up and leaves. Loved this trilogy so much.
selina kayl was wearing the necklace in the end... what an end
I could watch this into eternity. ❤ beautiful.
Damn even Selina stays true to the character to the end, a true thief. And now she goes deep. But i don't think she'll be robbing much tho, Bruce gave up much or probably all of his fortune away
Actually made me want to see a Robin spin-off film after that ending.
After breve heart ❤
If someone wonders if Alfred actually saw Bruce or an hallucination, notice that, in movies, when there is a ghost or an hallucination in front of someone, and someone or something passes in the middle of the person and the hallucination, the hallucination disappears. But in the scene where Alfred looks at Bruce, some people pass in the middle of them (in front of the camera) and the image of Bruce doesn't disappear; therefore, he isn't an hallucination, but he's actually there; he's alive.
"They know. It was the batman." *CHILLSSSSSSSSSS*
legends never die😢
OMYGOD THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL
You either die as hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain OR YOU QUIT. The third option was left out.
Still beautiful afer so many years. That's Nolan!
the part when the clerk said "Robin" I remember an "OHHHHH" from peoples in the theater when I watched this film for the first time.
"They know, it was the Batman."
still gives me chills
One of the greatest pictures of all time.
Alfred before he saw Bruce had a sad fucking ending lol. He was alive to witness the whole Wayne lineage die before him
