How Cycling Gear Became Fashionable | Behind The HYPE: Rapha
When Simon Mottram founded Rapha back in 2004, their main goal was to rejuvenate the world of cycling apparel. The first label of its kind to actively steer away from the gaudy logo-adorned on-bike garments of the ’80s, Rapha went about designing functional and stylish apparel that not only contributed to high-performance, but looked good too. Collaborations with Snow Peak, BYBORRE, and, most famously, Palace has introduced both Rapha and the sport to an entirely new audience in recent years and, in turn, has continued to blur the lines between cycling and fashion.

This is 4 years to late.

Rapha is like Apple, you love to hate it but you can’t deny it’s influence
Being wore by British doppers at TdF for years helped a lot
@@simonrano8072 like there are non-dopers in TdF)) last 10 places maybe, but still doubt it
yall need to make a whole documentary in this style...this channel too fire
there was most certainly luxury cycling apparel before rapha, many of them. rapha's exclusivity when introduced was due to location [london, uk] price point and marketing. i own rapha kit and i like it. but when the brand was sold to in part to walmart interests [via third party investments] it was re introduced to the US in a big way. key word: bentonville, ark.
Finally a new ep 😊
i like pas normal studios!
Amazing video. Rapha really changed the game

Ralpha didn't innovate cycling clothing, they innovated selling cycling clothing. Plenty of stylish luxury brands for decades before them.

BRANDT-SORENSON based out of LA. That's how.
Where is Maap?
People wear this outside of cycling?
Of course they do
Nah. This video was essentially a paid advertisement.
@@schnibbyy come to Asia, you’ll see
@@phatana2490 can confirm. Rapha is huge off bike in Korea
Terrible audio mix. Narrator's low voice fades in the background music.
Hint: It didn't
Assos is way more high end with better technical materials. But great vid.
I once bought a Cervelo Bike. It was worth about $3K. I posted it on eBay and immediately I got a message from original owner telling Me that it was stolen. I had to take the listing down. People go crazy about their Bikes. Never sold Bike. It actually got stolen from Me when moving stuff later on. Crazy how Life works out sometimes.
