We visited Rapha's London HQ for a quick walk through with founder Simon Mottram. Come along as he takes us through the entire office, from their killer employee bike parking, full-time barista with free coffee for employees, and a look at their in-house atelier. The latter lets them create patterns, test designs and check fit quickly, ensuring everything goes to the factory in perfect order.

Thanks for the tour, I like the minimalist deco and open space. Except for the freshly brewed coffee and barista, Rapha doesn't spend millions of quid each year on corporate layover and fancy HQ. I am a Mamil who can't afford their clothing and equipment. But I can tell it looks really good on fit and fast cyclists.
So this is the place that will fix my week-long RCC Forum access problem. Awesome. Would greatly appreciate your help. Very nice space.

1:26 we try to encourage everybody to ride by putting a bike hanger. This saves a lot of gasolines and minimizes traffic. This is a subtle way to fight climate change.

No longer a fan as company now makes all of their products in China with a lesser quality materials that go bad rather quickly! Much ratter prefer Ornot or Eliel. Both much better quality, made in USA for about the same price!
In a long enough time line all companies eventually source to China to increase profit

As a cyclist and one who has studied business. There is two sides to Ralpha on the one side the review of the company is amazing in taking care of its employees as in Facebook and Yahoo, etc. However, the fact of the matter like Apple the product is way, way, way overpriced and NOT worth it. Its kind like the automobiles of today. YOU can get a good decent vehicle with Toyota or Kia versus BMW and Mercedes. The lines in quality have gotten so blurry and so close today. As with Apple and Ralpha these are OVER PRICED products made under slave labor conditions in China. Good promotion but that is it. An educated consumer can see that these way, way, way over priced and NOT worth their weight in gold frankly speaking. So thank you Ralpha but NO thank you in your products. I did NOT see anything amazing in your products upon close inspection in Boulder, CO when I watched Peter Sagan win the Hell of the North race in 2018.

@@rrosomasa he has a point. Mercedes isn't far superior to Kia. Both of them are cars with 4 wheels and a steering wheel. Both can get you from point A to B. The point you're missing is the $ vs exclusivity. Sure, you can buy a cheap Jersey/bib from the competitors. Or buy a Kia vs a Benz. But the ones that are willing to dish out $ on more expensive products is because no one else is willing to spend that much money on it. It's the marketability of product A vs product B. Why are you wearing Nikes when you can wear a Walmart brand? Same concept/mentality right?
@@cpcxgsr - I get the point that both products will serve the same purpose. However, the extra money that you're paying for Rapha isn't for exclusivity (you can buy on sale items and their Core range is way more accessible and yet high quality) but rather for the extra attention to detail and higher quality materials. Of course, a jersey is just a jersey and an item like that won't make much of a difference out on the road. But, in my experience Rapha has some items that (to me at least) make a difference when I'm riding in cold conditions because their attention to detail. I have tried other brands, from more stablished such as Castelli to more local (California) but either their materials or their design or both is just not there. I know Rapha is "boutique apparel" and there are items that i refuse to purchase from them, but generally speaking in my opinion they separate themselves from the rest with great design and attention to detail.
@@rrosomasa I'm with you with Rapha's pricing with their products. Some are ridiculously expensive for what it is worth... I too will never buy them at retail. The Rapha gear that I do have are either their lower end line or their on sale products.. But you know what? Some people with deep pockets won't mind dishing out the extra $$, if it means that no one else is wearing it on your weekend group rides. I have friends that are in fashion. One in particular works in the sock manufacturing company. I asked her specifically why cycling socks are so expensive... $20 for 1 pair of sock?!? thats crazy! Her response, it's actually not expensive when you factor in the quality of the material. It is on par with the rest of the garment industry. Why cycling apparel (Rapha in particular) is so expensive is because they buy small yardage of material. Hence why they have to offset their pricing with inventory... If they buy more in bulk, the pricing for us will be lower... Sadly that is not how the market is going. Cycling clothing is a niche market. The average cyclist with a bike will never spend that much on clothing... Rapha on the other hand, they built their brand on marketability. We all know that they're an exclusive brand. And when select cyclists wear Rapha's current season's apparel, we all know what type of riders they are. They are the ones with the up to date gadgets, most current bikes, wheels, and everything else that matches their motif... Sure, Rapha and lower their margin for us common folks. But at the end of the day, it's all about business and Rapha knows the ones with deep pockets are willing to pay for exclusivity. Not a marketing plug, but Ornot Cycling is a cheaper alternative to Rapha. US based too!

I want to like them, but i feel that their products are nearly as expensive for not as high quality, aaaaand the design (attention to detail) it's definitely not there. But they're based out of San Fran, there's a lot of money in that area, so ppl will pay for their product bc it's the hipster thing to do
