I decided to create something kind of unique today. It's basically a diy snow globe, but since we are past the Christmas season, I decided to put a twist on it and make a DIY sprinkle globe, with a touch of magic. I hand sculpted the inside piece and created a custom base. I even tried resin for the first time! Hope you enjoy.

Hey! my name is Moriah (pronounced muh-rye-yuh) Elizabeth and this is my channel....obviously. I'm 29 and like doing creative activities (mostly painting on things), or really anything that gives me an excuse to use rainbows, sprinkles and my own cutesy characters in excess. I'm heavy into editing, so my video are chalk full of sound effects, filters and lil....moments, or as we like to call them "MEmes." I paint on squishies, thrift store finds, and various other items I find. I also love to draw, traditionally and digitally. I'm not the most skilled artist out here, but I like to focus on having fun with creativity and being able to laugh at my own mistakes.

Hey Moriah, something I learned while messing around with snowglobes is that to achieve a slow falling, soft floating effect with the sprinkles and snow, you can use baby oil, either mix it with water 1:1 ratio or leave it as it. It's much denser than water, and so the sprinkle will be suspended for longer.

It's like a cake dreaming the idea of a slice of cake! I love that the colors inside the globe are lighter along with the magnifying effect of the water, makes it dreamlike.

I wish I could attach a picture as I am using them right now mixing my own ME rainbow colors...and I think I got the Pickle color spot on...Thank you for always making my Friday! Oh and when mini me is old enough, your local Home Depot does a Kids Workshop for free every 1st Saturday of the month. You could take her and let her paint the project of the month.

hey moriah! you can use baby oil in the snowlobe instead of water and then you can use slightly heavier sprinkles/floaty things
Baby oil will yellow over time. Water and glycerin is how a true waterglobe is made. Baby oil is more "craft kit" for kids.

I know in crafting small decorative bottles (we even used the ones your nail art beads were in!) , we used to always use baby oil to create that sort of snow-globe effect as items would, well, sink to the bottom or float with water but since you're making a shaking charm of sorts, I highly suggest baby oil! You can even ask @Nerdecrafter since you two do talk I believe? I know that she's made a few shaker charms with the resin crafting kit Elf Boxes and such in the past so perhaps it's something to look into! A shaker charm would look pretty neat for your squishies or perhaps a mass product for sale in your merch store, too!

@nicodiangelo1942 she did it correct by adding the glycerin that is how a waterglobe is made. Baby oil will yellow over time. Also straight glycerin would make it bubbly when shook.
Admittedly I made these years and years ago before resin was all that readily available (UV that is) but that's pretty cool to know. I never had any yellowing problem with baby oil myself, though, how strange.@@tkgosselin

I LOVE spongebrushes! I've used them to create a few impressionistic paintings, and they're just plain fun in the first place 🙂
moriah should make a cake cake jewellery box! it’s like a regular box painted and then you pipe it with polyfil frosting, add sprinkles and fake cherries and they are so cute
I feel you with the foam brushes being very annoying. A technique that works very similarly is dry brushing. It works best with a brush with thick bristles or a cheap scratchy brush so it will leave more texture. All you have to do is wipe off most of the paint from the brush onto a paper towel to leave just enough to add texture. I hope that helps!

This is great and I love the colors especially! I hadn’t watched one of your videos in a while, so I searched you up tonight. I guess I have to go watch those blob videos now. FYI, I am a naval architect by trade. While it is true cutting the rubber bands smaller makes each bit weigh less, it also makes it displace less, so there is no change in the “floatability” due to piece size. Luckily snow globe makers have tricks like the glycerine you used or the baby oil others have mentioned to change the density and viscosity of the fluid. It was very interesting to see how much the sphere of water magnified the sculpture too!

The comically large cake is just everything. I love it. Also snow globes aren't just a Christmas thing. I've seen them for other holidays, events, and things of that nature.
I find it interesting that, even though you fully coated the inner cake with a glossy top coat & resin, once it was inside the water it appeared matte once again. Really fun idea. I love that you thought ahead to do sprinkle testing. Hopefully, the rubber band bits don't disintegrate with time.
