We need more what makes this song great!!! That would be a good change it’s been over a year!
Agreed 100% Please start with Hardy, truck bed.
I assumed he was notified he can't do those anymore because he doesn't have rights to the songs.
@@msj56 only if the original owner blocks the video
Agree
@@tphvac87still pretty risky, given that you can lose your channel with 3 strikes.. So probably not worth the headache
Therapist appointment CANCELLED. I realized while watching this, I actually don’t have OCD. Thanks, Rick!
LOL 😂
All of Rick’s 4 million subscribers should upvote this.
😂
😅❤
Hahahaha! 🤣
Rick sounds like a teenager explaining his room to his mom
To be honest, as much as we might understand and respect your need for change and for things to be in their right place, we're here for the incredible interviews and conversations, and not what's in the background. You could conduct your content anywhere in the world and we'll still be here to watch and enjoy. Thank you Rick!
The room temperature is good warm :) ;)
No one cares Rick. Jus' keep doing your thing, all is well.
Yes, yes, yes... This is why you don't ask a fish about water. Don't obsess on your environment, Rick. Just swim; you're already an expert.
1 minute in and I’m relieved we’re just talking about the set dressing rather than stopping your excellent interviews and analysis videos.
When the OCD kicks in.
Love Rick, but he's definitely guilty of exploiting the curiosity gap to get views! Well ya gotta do what you gotta do to make a buck in this online economy, I guess...
@@vitordelima Does Rick have a garden? Maybe a more soothing and less "busy" atmosphere for interviews.
@@SuperNevile No idea.
Right??? He scared the frack outta me for a second!!

As an artist, your awareness of design principles is refreshing. I don’t think you’re crazy, you’re instinctively applying them.
It has always been clear to me that you have a team behind you making your content. I’m proud of you for finally pulling back the curtain and revealing the people that make your channel work. There are far too many channels with creator/wankers that refuse to acknowledge that they are just the front facing jabber with a knowledgeable team behind them making it all work.
For what it's worth Rick, the quality of your videos has increased dramatically over the years.
I occasionally kinda miss the old white board theory lessons to be honest. It’s nice I can always go back and get my fix when necessary.
@@Chiller11me too
If you feel there are too many guitars in the background… I’ll take one off your hands!
"For What It's Worth" yeah, that's a good song...
@@jrm2fla You say that like there’s such a thing.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Love you Rick!
🤣
My wife is an Interior Designer and was sitting next to me while I watched this video. Every time you spoke about “balance”, “negative space”, and “flow”, she kept affirming everything you said. You’re absolutely on point Rick! 👍
Sometimes when I'm in a rut I'll rearrange my room and it rearranges my mind. I'm going to do that today
I love how he obsesses over this. It makes sense too. His videos always have a particular and curiously inviting warmth from the lighting and how the atmosphere is part of the conversation or the message. I do look around when watching his videos while absorbing what is being said. The space, the room, is part of the lens.
Speaking of change, please bring back What Makes This Song Great! Love your channel, but the world could really use some more WMTSG. Just saying.
Agreed, it's my favorite series on this channel
Here here!
Completely absolute!
Why did he stop making those?
@@MrBfg586 Think they all get non-monetized
"You're going to think I'm crazy... but you already think that" 😂😂😂
Hmm . . . "Next on what's in his drink"! 🤔😛
My philosophy (and yours): Surround yourself with all the people and things that you've always loved and play with them endlessly. Much good will come of it.
i love the obsession in this video no one got anywhere without just a hint of obsession over their craft!
“Because I’m Kinda neurotic that way” 😂 That attention to detail makes you you.
Amen, we love “neurotic” “nuts” Rick - he’s the best!
This was the coolest tour of someone's mind that I've ever taken. It all makes perfect sense.
So much of this video reminds me of my brother and his studio. Rick needs to hang out with Mario C in LA, two music producers who could nerd out on making their work space beautiful and functional.
It’s been clear since I first started watching this channel that Rick pays attention to details. He can’t tune out the details, so controlling the flow of the space eliminates distracting details. It makes perfect sense.
Beato got dosed and broke the 3rd wall. We all appreciate you opening up the space. Much love from VA
Everything is driving rick nuts!
"What makes Rick great," ...is the attention to detail in all aspects of his life. Successful people understand its importance. Love it!
Thank you so much for presenting all that stuff and important people in your studio. For those who don't know your organization, it's really appreciated.
Your channel is great Rick. Please bring back "What makes this song great". Your interviews are terrific and so revealing. Changes are good for the soul, keep up the great videos!
He can't, unfortunately. KZhead are absolute SNOWFLAKES when it comes to the copyright system.
This is “what makes this channel great.” The neurosis of genius. It takes that kind of attention to details that operate at the subconscious mind by to produce at this high of a level. 👏
Rick, nothing can drive you nuts. You have been nuts all along. Thanks for making the world a better place.
One thing that is constant is change. The biggest room is room for improvement. The reason why sir Rick's channel is so fun, informative, and no-nonsense is paying serious attention to details complemented by his outstanding musical know-how. Apparently, sir Rick's art is not just about musicality but also studio/interior designing. This channel only further justifies why my Premium subscription is all worth it.
The whole mood, atmosphere, quality, Feng Shui, whatever you call it. Compared to your earlier videos, this channel has become so professionally cozy and inviting.
Don't tamper with perfection Rick! That room always makes me envious. Love your channel!!!
yep, you're over thinking it. Put stuff wherever you like... we'll like it too! , just don't move those guitars! Embrace your inner-terior designer.... but all looks great from where i'm sitting.
What makes this channel great? You doing whatever is interesting to you. So just keep on keeping on. Also, a new season of "What makes this song great" would be awesome.
I suspect any number of music-loving studio designers would compete for the chance to set Rick up. Rick: keep your talent on the tunes and analysis and give someone the gift of helping you make your videos look fabulous!!
I love this! To show your humanity to the world is beyond refreshing. Thank you for being an authority in your craft, but also for being human.
Your studio is absolutely stunning. I don't think I'd ever leave that room if I lived there!
Rick talking about visuals like he's mixing ... Perfect as usual!
What a wholesome video. This made me smile a lot hearing about how particular you are about the studio set-up and about your fonts/emoji debates. Brilliant!
I honestly appreciate you care about these details. It makes for such a good composition, look and feel overall
It's been really cool to watch how this channel has grown over the last five years. The people that Rick introduced who are in the background play an important role in what is presented. Thank you to the whole crew.
Hey Rick. Great vid. Totally with you, here. I've been a lighting camera op for 30 years and EVERYTHING you say here makes sense. With composition, the devil is in the tiniest detail.
That is such a beautiful studio. I love ❤just looking at all that warm lighting and gorgeous decor
Cant wait to see and hear the band , Rick ! Love your videos ! Peace and Love !
Congratulations for your induction into the Rochester Music Hall of Fame. I was there and thoroughly enjoyed seeing you and all the other wonderful talents from our city.
Massive announcement, folks. Rick redecorated. More updates coming..... Stay tuned.
Funny.
Rick is acting slightly manic today. Reminds me of Nuno Bettencourt. 🤔
When the OCD rubs up against the rest of Rick’s neurosis, it can make for a tough day. It’s why some people drink or eat benzodiazepines like chiclets. But those are just short term fixes that bring their own long term pain. Just letting it go and roll with it is usually the best option.
Yeah, did the video accidentally end before the "new direction" was explained?
Rick, I really admire your spirit and pure love of music. I truly do.
I love being able to see the entire studio! The attention to detail is what makes your channel the gem that it is. It is consistent with your analysis of songs. John's insights into the similarity of the creative constructs between mixing and baking was enlightening. It has sparked my thinking about the potential around other creative constructs. I also like how it is clear that to produce a show with the quality such as yours requires teamwork, and you have a cohesive team "behind" you (off camera) who really seem to enjoy their work. This was an excellent video. Thank you also for your interviews with musicians - you get into areas that are of real interest to people who listen deeply to music. Great Job, Rick!
You're one of my very favorite personalities on KZhead, Rick. I feel the same about the visual stuff, being a cake/cupcake decorator... EVERYTHING is about balance... everything. 😊 Kudos to you!
You're already so far ahead of the pack by having AN ACTUAL STUDIO to shoot in instead of green screen like most other youtubers. The fact that it's an absolutely beautiful studio is just icing on the cake!
I hate to admit it but on watching his earlier videos I'd thought the background just looked way too good to be real, so much so I thought it was green screen! :D
He would be driven up the wall by a typical home studio like Steve Perry's. He did a zoom shout out to his fans a few years ago and the dangling clusters of wires, beanie babies, Christmas lights, and tots under foot made it clear why his output has been small in recent years.
Rick you are 100 % correct visualization of things and colour is so important. I think same reason you buy a guitar a certain colour you love looking at it Doesnt change the playability. Keeps you interested. Good job Love the show
Thank you, Rick, this was so enlightening! You showed us how a consummate artist is not just one or two dimensional, but a multilayered prism of senses in thought and soul. Some of your enthusiasts may question your reasoning about the importance of your efforts. Tesla said, "If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration." By editing, and arriving at the beautiful color , scale, and harmony =balance in this space, you substantially amplified its positive vibrations, acceleratedI the frequency and ultimately "kaboomed" the productive energy in your room--a joy to be there, which emanates and connects to us...why we keep returning to you and your channel!
Rick I really like the addition of the lumberjack in your studio, he really ties the room together.
😂😂😂😂😂
GL! The man who put up with years of my weirdness, and took my guitar solos to new heights. Good to see you on here. Love you, brother. Love you too, Rick.
Such great times we had Efrum! We would love to see you again and maybe work on some new music. Miss you man!
I work in TV/Film production on huge budget shows and the reason I am here is because your content is fantastic. I have never felt cheated by the look of your show. You are a wealth of information and an incredibly interesting guy Love the show and all the knowledge you share with all of us. Thank you for that.
Aesthetics, also part of art. Your attention to detail shines not only through sound but visual as well. Thanks for this behind the scenes tour and thoughts behind all. Love your channel ❤
Change? No. Noooo!!! It’s your channel, Rick. Do whatever makes you happy.
You’re so fucking special. I wish I was special…
@@DirtyDirkDiggler 🤣🤣🤣
Rick, I do all of this everyday as Creative Director at a marketing agency. You've got the right idea! We deal with print, digital, and video. Composition and storytelling is everything.
Hey Rick, It’s great you’re highlighting the importance of space layout and placement details. I’ve worked for many years advising clients and interior designers of flow and energy. It’s refreshing to watch and now I’m back making music again, it’s so important for your mind and spirit, I’m sure your interviewees will reap the benefits too!!
Rick--I'll pray for you!... Love your pod, learned lots.
3:09 "you're going to think i'm crazy, but you always already think that" I love this guy 😂
Yes as a quilter and retired photographer that has OCD, balance is a calming need. I understand everything you are saying. Perfect and you’re never crazy.
Love it , and i totally agree Rick. Things like this is important, not only for us viewers get an even better production quality in the videos, but also for you spending so much time in that studio..a place spent so much time must bring some kind of peace to your mind, so i can totally understand the mindset behind this. I might be bias since i am a designer 😁
You rock. Nuff said. Love the channel thanks for the drive to continue.
There is a little Nigel Tufnel in all of us. Love you man
"Dminor .. It's the saddest of all keys" 😉😅
On today's lesson of Feng shui with Rick Beato! Good stuff Rick
Totally get it. Your work space and head space are an extension of one another. Great video!
It'll be awesome to see the videos on recording process. Can't wait!
Rick Beato, master of mise en scene. ♥
Love the lighting, the colors and the production and topics of your videos. Top notch!
TOTALLY correct about ratios and balance!!! LOVED this video!!!
pulling back the curtain on what makes Rick Beatos channel great!!! How many of we followers even gave "this" a second thought? TY Rick for always doing your very best to make your content great. Thata a true artist...The Details!!
You Rock, love your videos and at my 59 year of aged, i am starting to learn to play acoustic guitar. thank you - Tenerife Spain
I just love your attention to detail not for detail itself but for whole composition 🤟 do what ever will make you and your guests comfy to give us such golden time when ever you drop a video 😉
I mentioned before how good your set up looks from a lighting perspective now I know that you put a lot of thought and time into it and it shows!!
Awesome. Looking forward to hearing what you're cooking up.
I'm with you Rick. I like things a certain way, too.
Whew. What a relief. I thought you were gonna tell us you took a job at Rolling Stone. That rag. Balancing your set/studio? Have at it to your heart's content! Achieveing balance in all areas of life is pretty damm essential.
I love this one Rick... we love your "craziness" and character... I smiled all the way through this one... Looking forward to the new recordings...
Jesus, there's so much depth to that studio than meets the eye! So many elements, each one with a history AND a purpose and you being the director of your own orchestra. You seem to really be enjoying your stuff. Keep it up master 🫡
Rick, if you ever need some space to store some of that equipment, I may be a little far away (Canada) but... me casa, su casa. 🙂 I'll even make sure it all gets tested regularly to ensure all is in working order when you need it!
Love all your videos, and it’s not surprising that there’s a lot of thought and effort that goes into each one.
Rick--you are a man of many talents. Now, you're talking like a photographer/artist (balance, vanishing points, negative space). Love it!
Hey Rick it's all good man. Do what ever you need to do to make yourself comfortable and keep that wonderful vibe going. Change can be an OK thing if it works for you. I get it, but no need to stress man. You will always have a devoted and growing audience.
Rick thank you for your OCD Video I thought I was the only one that suffered from this disorder…I now know that I am not alone ✌🏻😝
An architect and fan here. Yes to everything Rick said.
I love rick's level of passion for every aspect of creating
I super appreciate your attention to detail! Also glad to see you back into production!
Maybe I'm alone in this, but good heavens, I always thought the amp wall and all the other details that you get all worked up about looked like a intimate musician's paradise; a man cave that makes any musician feel at home immediately. And man, the interviews show just that, don't they? I tink if a genuine Sicilian saw this video, he'd reply: "Fa lache." Something like: "Let it be." You're doing a fantastic job and it has everything to do with you yourself and the love for music you bring to the table. You make the ambiance and that's why people love you. Alora, fa lache!
Yes please Rick - More production/band videos please - Love your work :)
I liked hearing about what goes into set design. It explores what makes your show visibly appealing to the audience but also what makes you comfortable and effective in that space which comes through to us as you perform your art in your appealing style.Taking these principles to the live performance space and stage would probably help many bands in similar ways. This episode is just another example of the many facets of music production and performance that we need to know. Thanks, Rick.
Not only do I love that you’re conscious of these things, you’re also always giving us the feeling that you’re prioritizing teaching people these things once you’ve learned them through your videos. Thank you Rick!
That's a good point.
Looking forward to seeing more in the recording studio. Love your channel, and the insider view to the industry, and what it was like to work with these bands. I'm subscribed now!
Love it, Rick, and your sensibilities on this stuff!
Really enjoyed this video on so many levels! and funny..'must be a door open!' Was lovely to see GL on screen with you and John and what you guys chat about.. I'm the same with the details for things like this, so I get it! ..and thanks to Tom for filming. Blessings to u all :)
When OCD has positve outcomes. I really get it now, why Rick is the Beato.
!!!
I somehow find this video simultaneously inspiring and comforting. And I have no idea why!
Fantastic video, Rick. Beautiful room layout; sets a tranquil mood - relaxes the eyes. Can't wait to view your new, added content. Cheers, bro.
Attention to detail makes my heart sing!
Something I have been missing in all of your great an long interviews. Is a table with a bottle of water, a cup of coffee or maybe a cold beer. On behalf of your great guests, I have been so dry in my mouth hearing them speak away about great times and good music. So cheers 🍻 here from Denmark 🇩🇰 Love your channel 🤘
Thanks for introducing the guys behind the scenes, enjoyed that! Now, I can't unsee the acoustics! 😉😊
I never really noticed how beautiful that space is before! Just took it for granted.
One takeaway from all of this: We all benefit from Rick's OCD. Keep on keeping on, Rick!!!
Good to mix things up. You got a heck of a nice studio.
