Hi Guys!!!
This video introduces the process of making traditional Japanese bow.
▶Only ONE Shop of Kyoto Bow
Today, Shibata Kanjuro bow shop is the only bow store that continues to make Kyoto bows. The origin of the Kyoto bow dates back to the Warring States period in 1534. The first head of the family served the Satsuma clan as an archer, and from there he moved to Kyoto to serve the Tokugawa clan, where he was given the title of “Onyumishi” (royal bow manufacturer and archer). His name spread so widely that there is a rumour that the bow was used by Nobunaga Oda against the forces of Mitsuhide Akechi in the Honnoji Incident was the Kanjuro Shibata’s bow. In 1889, Kanjuro Shibata was appointed by the Imperial Household Agency, and he also produced the sacred treasures for the “Shikinen Sengu” ceremony held every 20 years at the Ise Jingu Shrine. Today, the 21st generation of the Kanjuro family continues preserve the name of the Kanjuro, and in 2013, 59 Azusa Yumi bows were delivered to the shrine.

Don't loose your roots Japan, we westerners have already lost so much of our cultures..
In order not to lose this wonderful culture of Japan, we will first clear the phase of gaining recognition from people all over the world.
The destruction of the cultures, nations and races is the result of universal democracy and internationalism which have its roots in the Marxism ideology.
The West doesn't have culture, maybe that means you are European 😅
The reason Japan retains its culture is, it doesn't allow immigration. Immigration means dilution. 😢
@@dennisneo1608you must be an American certainly Japanese people do not allow immigration then what are they finding other places they should stay in their country because if you preach you must practice.
I'm glad they changed their ways and incorporated modern tech. No point being stubborn and acting authentic when you are already authentic.
It is important to preserve the traditional skills of the people in addition to obtaining the benefits of civilization. And we believe in making high-quality products available to more people.
So nice to see this ancient craft and skill handed down through generations still being practiced by traditional masters of today.
Fantastic skills and effort!!! Thank you for sharing such talent and such clever work!
一旦完成後とは逆に反らせてからもう一度反対向きに反らせる工程、反発力を生むためにそうしてると聞いてまさに目から鱗だった。
The time and commitment that goes into each bow is humbling. Thank you for this video.

These bows are some of the most beautiful bows in the entire world. The process of making them is incredibly intense. I am honored to get to watch them being made by these skilled craftsman. Someday I hope to own one of these magnificent bows. It would be an incredible experience to use and work with one after using a mass produced one in the past. Absolutely Beautiful! The skill level is beyond anything that a machine can do... I would be very proud if I was able to make a bow half as good as yours. I do hope that there is a large enough market, and you get paid at the level of your skills.
Thank you so much!!!
A true master at this and could you imagine prior to electric all the steps seen were done by hand. Impressive.
That bows me away. ;) Nice craftsmanship.
Alot of hard work. Interesting to see the process, wonderful craftsmanship..just amazing!

Bamboo is the plant that I absolutely love from how it is born to how it can be worked to make the most disparate objects. The beauty of the color, the versatility and the scent it leaves when you work it fresh is you are immensely lucky to be able to use it as and when you want. unfortunately in Italy there are strict rules that almost don't let you get close to such a perfect material (there are very high fines)then seeing you work on it is relaxing and we can see both your mastery and the respect that should be given to it.congratulations and greetings from Florence 😉👍🏿

I was surprised that Japanese bows are made with so much effort. The work of striking the wedge and making the shape of the bow is excellent.
Thank you for your comments!!! The possibilities for bamboo are endless.
And he’s a young man too. Usually it’s an elderly craftsman because the young don’t want to do the work.
@@trappenweisseguy27 That's right. The youth employment rate in the craft industry is declining... We will tell the appeal of their craftsmanship to young people through our videos!!!!
It might be very relaxing to watch (as someone commented) but if I recall right, the open time of the glue used is not hours. You can see the intensity of the process from this young mans face and forehead (no studio sweat there 😅) as he hammers the wedges in and adjusts the shape of bow, takes a pro with ability to use his skills in limited timeframe.
Open time is only 15 minutes. When this happens, a sense of urgency pervades the workshop.
@@Craftsmanship-Process Yeah, wow, I remembered it was short, but not that short. I have to say, I tried to do a mental full procedure counting the wrappings and wedges and adjusting the shape, and after checking the time I ended up with a botched "virtual bow" in my hands. Amazing craftmanship from true artisans.
@@anonplayer8529 The patience of the Japanese people is truly amazing. We will continue to bring this meticulousness to the world💛💛💛💛

Time is essence, it is Beautiful Brother
Thank you so much!!!!
I've weed five videos of these old bow making techniques, jealous and envy pop into mind. These bows, the Korean bows, Mongolian bone bows, I'd love to have st one of everyone created. My ole Kodiak Magnum recurve has been by my side forever. Taken every big game animal on our continent. Meat bearing, not a trophy hunter. I harvest, I don't trophy hunt, but I'd love that to be on my list of accomplishments. To have hunted with all these amazing bows. I'm sentimental 😆
Thank you for your comment!!
I'm old, disabled, and retired... However... If I was young again, I couldn't think of any accomplishments more satisfying than what you've done. Bravo! Especially when you allow "The Trophys" to live and breed... Too much Trophy Hunting diminishes the quality of future herds... For those that don't understand, go ask any rancher why they keep the best breeding stock alive.., and only harvest the lesser quality animals. It's a gene thing. 😊
Love that 500 year old bandsaw and planer.
Thank you so much!!!!
500 лет работы на станках и с электроинструментом. Это круто. Это Япония.

Excellent, but strange, 😃 where do these bows uses? Now modern weapons are ready for war , know. As per my knowledge, are they using it in the Olympics? But then how many they sell, ? Strange know!! But video is fantastic, thank you🙏.
