Hi Guys!!!
This video introduces the process of making traditional Japanese bow.
▶Only ONE Shop of Kyoto Bow
Today, Shibata Kanjuro bow shop is the only bow store that continues to make Kyoto bows. The origin of the Kyoto bow dates back to the Warring States period in 1534. The first head of the family served the Satsuma clan as an archer, and from there he moved to Kyoto to serve the Tokugawa clan, where he was given the title of “Onyumishi” (royal bow manufacturer and archer). His name spread so widely that there is a rumour that the bow was used by Nobunaga Oda against the forces of Mitsuhide Akechi in the Honnoji Incident was the Kanjuro Shibata’s bow. In 1889, Kanjuro Shibata was appointed by the Imperial Household Agency, and he also produced the sacred treasures for the “Shikinen Sengu” ceremony held every 20 years at the Ise Jingu Shrine. Today, the 21st generation of the Kanjuro family continues preserve the name of the Kanjuro, and in 2013, 59 Azusa Yumi bows were delivered to the shrine.

  • Bamboo is the plant that I absolutely love from how it is born to how it can be worked to make the most disparate objects. The beauty of the color, the versatility and the scent it leaves when you work it fresh is you are immensely lucky to be able to use it as and when you want. unfortunately in Italy there are strict rules that almost don't let you get close to such a perfect material (there are very high fines)then seeing you work on it is relaxing and we can see both your mastery and the respect that should be given to it.congratulations and greetings from Florence 😉👍🏿

  • I've weed five videos of these old bow making techniques, jealous and envy pop into mind. These bows, the Korean bows, Mongolian bone bows, I'd love to have st one of everyone created. My ole Kodiak Magnum recurve has been by my side forever. Taken every big game animal on our continent. Meat bearing, not a trophy hunter. I harvest, I don't trophy hunt, but I'd love that to be on my list of accomplishments. To have hunted with all these amazing bows. I'm sentimental 😆

    • I'm old, disabled, and retired... However... If I was young again, I couldn't think of any accomplishments more satisfying than what you've done. Bravo! Especially when you allow "The Trophys" to live and breed... Too much Trophy Hunting diminishes the quality of future herds... For those that don't understand, go ask any rancher why they keep the best breeding stock alive.., and only harvest the lesser quality animals. It's a gene thing. 😊
