  • Good product but what you need is some sort of fast switching mechanism.. Otherwise the current is too high to utilise and it will damage the part to be spot welded. Shorting the battery for a long time may even damage it. You can use a 200 amp relay as a switch.

    • @@lyndonp6296 That's a 6A4 diod... it's common diod that comes in at 6 amps at 400 volts... that's a 2,400 watt diode. It will survive that little 6v battery ... it's there for back flow protection to keep the battery from heating up... it's still a super unsafe build, but the diod definitely didn't fuze... in fact diodes can't fuze into a conductor because of how there constructed... it would glow red hot, let out it's 'magic smoke' and loose it's conductive properties then the glow would go out and it would just be a dead diod. If your lucky it happens fast enough that the thermal expansion causes a miniature explosion, but usually it's not that spectacular when a diode fails though... usually it's just glow, smoke, fizzle, dead all in the course of about a second (a really long time in electronics).

    • It seem to be good enough for certain jobs, especially if a guy already has all the components laying around like this guy typing this comment. I have a specific task is why I'm watching a few videos, the easier and more inexpensive way I can achieve my objective is what I'm looking for. I have a $10 u.s item that I would like to repair so it don't make sense to spend $30 on the circuit board and whatever else to achieve the same results in my case. I'd be happy to return to comments when finished and give a honest review of my success or failure. If anyone would be interested in honest opinion of how this performs on everyday materials? I'm not a welder or an electrician and have very very limited knowledge how electrical currents flow. The easier it is to comprehend and implement the better for a lot of people who don't have the knowledge of electrical currents and how they work and what components you need to build more sophisticated devices. Im just a regular Joe that turns to smarter people then myself i. e KZhead for ideas to aide me along. To criticize an idea just because you have a more elaborate sophisticated way to achieve near same results. Well post your KZhead video and maybe the way you suggested would be better. But is it more practical for everyone or only a one time use? Keep on keeping on fellas all these diy vids are great. And I'm sure they help tons of people..

All new adjustable coilovers front and new adjustable 4 link coilover in rear to replace the leaf springs , new disc brakes front and rear, HEAVY sound deadening for floor,doors,roof and heavy duty weather stripping replacement. @Quickened1@Quickened12 жыл бұрын
    • @@Quickened1 Just like the path of least resistance is not the only path for current, the highest resistance is not the only resistance. Considering the large currents in this ridiculous "spot welder", Sourav has made a correct observation. In every case, the connections should be mechanically sound before soldering. Solder is not intended to be the current carrier as it's typically 5 to 10 times the resistance of copper, depending on the alloy used, with a much lower melting point than iron, which is about 4 times the resistance of copper. The diode that was soldered in place was absurd. Not just because it was soldered in place, but because there is no way that diode is going to handle the current... and since it's missing at the end, it definitely didn't survive. Never mind that is served no purpose. THIS is why people who make videos on KZhead are often dangerous. You can be king of the blind with partial sight in one eye and blind in the other.

  • @Catalina Ramirez keen observation, no diode at all. May lower power output if diode in place, and Higher output without diode but will make battery shortlived.

  • Appreciate the efforts but there are some disastrous design flaws which you can work upon. Sorry for being a critic, but this can get dangerous to viewers who may try to copy you. 1. The SS nail literally melted. What are some better alternatives? 2. Should've used proper battery connectors instead of directly soldering on the battery terminals. The battery material (chemicals) get damaged due to heat, thus reducing battery life. 3. Diode alone is not sufficient for protection, how about adding a fuse of appropriate value? 4. How about PWM switching control (using maybe MOSFETS) for variable output power control and efficiency. Also when it gets touched it should automatically disconnect after few milliseconds for a precise spot weld, after that even if it stays touched, it won't be connected. 5. An assembly setup with a handle like how vertical drills work. If the two terminal probes touch each other by mistake, then it will blow. 6. How about Using an 1:1 isolation transformer between battery and system?

    • The diode has been removed by in the video of it working. I'm guessing the current killed it.

    • What is a PWM switching control if I may ask? And what might it look like? I mean down to the component level. I've been trying to learn about circuitry basics and the fundamentals...any input helps. No obligation though. 💁‍♀️💖

    • @Merrick Brody what kind of stuff do you make DIY? Any chance I could see some of your work?

      @chloedevlin6544@chloedevlin65442 жыл бұрын
    • @@chloedevlin6544 basically, you would use a switch which can be controlled (turned on or off ) digitally/ with a digital signal like a 1/high or 0/zero, generated from a digital circuit. This switch can be a MOSFET, Relay or other any other electronic switching device suitable for this application. (Suitability depends on factors like maximum current rating, polarity, switching speed, triggering circuit specs, etc.) For starters, now you can turn things on and off with precise timing with use of this switching devices... For eg. you turn it on for precisely 100milliseconds and then turn it off automatically by using a digital circuit.

  • He needs to use steel nails for electrode to ensure better resistance than copper. If your voltage can be reduced to 3V then copper is better else battery will get damaged.Good idea though I prefer a 3V source

    • Learn to type! By reading any further you agree to assume all liability and responsibility for your own actions and what you decide to do with this information. That being said, it's a "6 amp, 400 volt, rectifier diode"... If you could not figure that out on your own, than you should not make one of these. I told you anyways because I believe in natural selection. Do with it what you will, but remember I warned you.
