Mals of this size over 65 lb are out crossed about every eight generations or so to get that kind of size. Without crossing it's impossible to get a Malinois like that. Working line Malinois and Dutchies have an open stud book so that is why they can cross primarily for size and a few other traits and they breed back. Keeps them also very healthy because a lot more diversity in genetics. I see a few breeders here in the states doing it but most of the out crossing is done in Holland or Eastern Europe. Basically you out cross to improve size because Malinois tend to be very small when not out crossed down to 40 lb if not careful, and then after you out cross then you lined breed heavily to get consistent looks. These dogs can even enter the FCI and then AKC some people think it's nothing but a purebred but the reality is it has been heavily out crossed selectively. I suspect whiskey has not only working line German Shepherd but also mastiff in his lines probably 8 or so generations back

I have two Mal pups, brother and sister, 22 weeks old. Had them since week 10. They are kennel trained. My day starts at 4:30am, with dogs out of their kennels for potty break, and fist feeding by 5:00am. They go back in the kennel while I go finish getting ready for work. My wife works from home and works with the dogs during the day. They are awesome little guys, well 31-pound little guys now! Can't tell you how much I would recommend a Malinois for anyone's family!

Wow !what a Joy! Puppy super smart, Luna NEVER peed in the house ,started at 5 weeks and within a week she was trained! I love his exuberance and keen sense of adventure and bravery. Are Whiskey and Freedom always this calm? I ask because I have a 5 year old Belgian Malinois who is incredibly calm (she's a couch potato, to be honest). Most of the Mals I've seen on KZhead are busy busy busy.
They are both pretty darn calm but I wouldn’t say couch potato calm. They are both full puppy mode right now with the new puppy toys being all over the house. They are in heaven 😂. The internet does seem to make these dogs out to be crazier then they actually are.
