SIMPLE STEP BY STEP ON HOW TO PROPERLY INSTALL A TIRE ON A RIM WITH NO MACHINE USED - OLD SCHOOL WAY FROM THE DAY -
Your right, why take it to a tire shop when I can just scratch the shit out of it at home
Lol
I thaught same thing .
Josue Lopez if you put the rim down on a tarp or something that would easily solve that problem.
Still a lot better that you do it than the tire shop scratching the hell out of your own rims . LOL
its for weight reduction
how to scrape the rim on the concrete..
Exactly what I thought!
You can do it on the grass
taulavaulol I cringed at 1:27
Yeah, cringe worthy isn't it. He could have at least placed the rim on a piece of cardboard.
My thoughts exactly lmao
I watched this whole video then realized it’s 8 years old. It was entertaining. Mikes auto. Doin it freestyle. Keeping that rust at bay and scratchin rims.
Inviting more rust with the scratches lol
i just learned something new: scratching chrome rims on concrete is worse than fingernails on a chalk board.
I like how serious/professional this guy is even when the other two guys are joking around haha
Cardboard is probably a good idea. Also, what the camera man referred to as a breaker bar is actually a crowbar or pry bar. A breaker bar takes a socket and is used to loosen nuts. You can also use a spray on soap or lubricant instead of the grease.
👍😅😂
🤣🤣
Why not make your own video?!?!
this video got a lot of hate, lol. Must be the city boys. Thanks for sharing how to put tires on my old beater and save a few hundred dollars!
Where does it cost a few hundred dollars! to have a tire mounted???
@@antcri730 California
These are the kinds of videos that made KZhead what it is today, I love it! Thank you fr the info!
I'm loving the smart ass remarks by the camera guy. "You gotta use sandals or you can use any shoes?" hahaha
DISCLAIMER: Does not work with Blue Handled Breaker Bar
that's hilarious
there ya go spin that rim on the concrete scratch it up yeaaaaaa, you go boyyyy
+sturgeon hunter He was driving a Primer Bomb "Rat" and installing a used tire, he wasn't worried about it LOL..........................................To the Original poster............................ Just kidding Yeah, could just lay the rim on a piece of plywood or cardboard.
I like how you drag the finished edge of your Cragar SS on the concrete. Good job!
You never know when you might need to use these tricks. Good video.
I'm a fast fit mechanic in the UK and the fitting costs come free with the purchase of every tyre. Also, our main rule is to never damage the rim, including scratches
I liked it because of the entertainment factor.. definitely not ever doing it this way.
+STENOOOOO99 I've done a few like that, late at night, needed car next AM Or No Money, usually No money. LOL
i think id put carpet down. that looks and sounds hard on the rims.
Dang it I wanted to see him air it up! That would've been BLAST 🤣
i was cringing the whole time he was spinning that rim on the concrete
Scraaaaaaape! Lol cringed every time.
Amen. Cringed for sure.
😂
looks like a good way to fuck your rims up and maybe puncture your tire.
+Josh Hudson I use a rounded end tire bar so there's no chance of puncturing or tearing the tire. Don't try this with a large screw driver. You'd have to have some really cheap rims to screw them up with a quality tire bar. Your tire bar should only touch the inside of the rim.
+Josh Hudson or you could just do as he did..
+Josh Hudson mounted pleanty by hand, my Motorcycle tires too, never hurt one.
I think my favorite part was when they called it a breaker bar. Then again, those were some pretty pro level scrapes so who knows, maybe the rest of the world has been wrong all this time.
Thank you, as a woman I found this easy and no nonsense. Even a little humorous.
Oh and you and mike should do an oil change on a Chev HHR and brakes and change a windshield :D just askin
This could work when you are off road and have no spare. Appreciate the effort.
how to fuck up the lips on your wheels
This is great. I'm trying to convince my husband to do this as directed by your video just for 100% entertainment on my part.
Entertaining Video!
Excellent video gentlemen
a prybar to be exact but a breaker is one of the greatest tools made. and thanks for the video!
great job, guys! takes me longer with a machine due to all of the redo's I encounter. I might try this next time.
starts here 3:05
Yes i would not recommend it on new rims, especially paint ones, but it just shows you that u can install a tire on a rim - especially used ones. Sometimes a beer helps to get it started.
Man yall need to have a show. Funny as hell !!!!!!!!
Pretty cool though. I diddnt know it was possible. Thumbs up
Eeek! The scraping of that wheel on the concrete makes me want to scream... lol
Dude. Nice.
ok fellas heres a tip for you dont put grease on the tire it will not rot out but if your tire ever actually needs to hook up the chance of you spinning the wheel in the tire is very high. but other than that not a bad method. this will not work wlth low profile tires but for anything with a sidewall bigger that 60 you would have no trouble. use soapy water to lube your tires the water evaporates and the soap helps the tire stick to the rim unlike grease that will still be slippery in 10 years.
I guess they forgot to mention, but I'm just saying, you can always clean off the grease from the tire and rim after you put the tire on the rim. I guess the grease is there just for lubing. I don't think you need to leave it on. Just saying.
John Titor So do you use soap to remove the grease and have a chance of missing a smear (Which will happen) and spinning the rim? Just use soap in the first place like every tire shop.
gOOD jOB RALPH
Wow. The people really felt the pain of that old rim getting scratched a little bit. And people say the world has no sympathy.
You guys ROCK
I stopped watching it as soon as I saw him scratching the rim by dragging it on the concrete. Genius
Great thanks
love the way he just scrapes the rim around on the concrete.....nor to worried about the finish on the outdie lip!
I APPRECIATE THIS VIDEO VERY MUCH
And when you are done you still need to take them down to the tire shop to get them hi-speed balanced which comes free with paid mounting. Otherwise, it's $16.00 per wheel & tire set. Net savings = $0.00
since when is grease used to install tires .. what we use is something that looks like grease called tire paste but actually dries and locks the tire bead to the rim to ensure it doesnt spin on the rim . and i love the cloves with the sandals also when doing this u use a tire bar not a pry bar
What the hell!!! people just make stupid comments about scratching the rims. who cares??? is NOT your rims anyways... just observe and learn how to do it and thats it... but its easier for many to run their mouth instead of think and learn... JUST SAYING!!!!!! Awesome video by the way...
one can run their mouth AND learn. Honestly, they sell spoons specifically for tire mounting/removal, it's not a secret. It hurt my soul when he did that.. I just wasn't raised to treat my vehicles like that.
Kind of ironic that someone runs their mouth about other people running their mouth.
Sam Munoz you must be one of the idiots in the video!
I can do that! Thanks!
now try it on a low profile, a different story altogether, large side walls easy. What was the tyre size you fitted apart from the 15 inch?
Top Safety Tip: Make sure to have a beer handy and wear sandals!
a rim, a tire, a pry bar, a pair of flip flops, and 10 toes In many foreign countries, they mount tires bare footed 😀
You guys cracked me up. Tire shop wanted $350, I'm going to Walmart and paying $120 bucks and using your technique.
$350 to mount tires? biggest lie ive seen in my life lol
tips from this video 1) dont be stupid and scratch all the rim up by rubbing it on the ground 2) make sure u DONT wear sandals 3) dont drink Floridian tap water 4) people from buffalo are scared of rot lol good video :P
Oh damn 😲
Thanks!
Bout to do this tomorrow. Luckily I'm fat so that'll make it easy.
apparently it took 5 mins to put the tires on the rims.. the video isn't even 5 min long
THANKS!
Thank you
You guys are ridiculous about the scraping you do realize that that is the inside of the rim and no one will ever see it..... right? I am also quite certain that the integrity of your aluminum/steel alloy rims will be ok. However when I do it I don't use soap just squeeze over rim than loop a ratchet strap over the tire and tighten while putting air in the tire it will pop right on. And then as to the balancing tire pressure that is not rocket science you use a pressure gage and make sure that the tire pressure is the same in both front tires and both rear tires hopefully the optimum pressure listed on the tire.... People that pay for balancing are dumb go to gas station and use the free air usually a gage attached.
Adam Reese you're so dumb balancing has nothing to do with the air pressure
And I imagine that you think it has to do with the weight around the circle of the tire. So lets say as I am driving my car around road eventually pieces of my rim and tire are worn away over time to create an imbalance across the circle this is called radial force variation. First off I challenge you to buy a brand new vehicle with wheels and zero miles on the odometer and take it to get your tires balanced. I guarantee you will end up with a bunch of weights attached to the rim of your tire. A machine at the place you took it to said it was out of balance. Now the person operating the tire spinning machine has no idea where to put weights to "balance" the tire so he guesses and moves the weights around until the spinning machine says its "ok". Well there are about a million problems with that. Number one the tire isn't the only thing spinning in your car you have an axle and a wheel hub that also spin, which means that although the tire and rim may be spot on it isn't accounting for everything that spins. Number two your axle spins at a constant speed split over 2 of these "balanced" or not tires determined by the amount of gas released into your combustion engine. The real reason that tires will cause your car to vibrate is because the rim which shapes the tire is not longer close enough to a perfect circle (no rim ever made is a perfect circle unless by sheer chance or a miracle). If your car is actually vibrating because your rim is so out of "circle" its time for a new rim not a "tire balancing". Because the centripetal force required to turn the tires with weights on them is increased however only one axle is turning two tires whether they have weights or not so you are using more gas and your tires aren't spinning in sync (granted the more out of sync they are the more it will cause vibrations ergo more friction). In my opinion balancing a tire is a bad patch job that will have to be continuously repeated and when you can buy a new rim for $20-40 that will better your car far more why spend $$ on it?
You literally talked nothing about air pressure all I said was it has nothing to do with air pressure and the balance machine tells them exactly where the weights go.
Tires are balanced and tested to meet the manufacturers specifications and then again just before being placed on a new car. They’re not going to be any more balanced than at the time of purchase. Most every dealership and tire shop includes balancing and rotation for the life of the tire upon purchase so it’s not costing anything but your gas & time to balance them. Also, with the majority of newer cars, the sensors in your ABS can give a real time estimate for any unbalance, in turn, taking the guess work out of play. There’s also a multitude of other reasons besides a wheel deformation that will cause vibrating.
ever balance your tire pressure? yeah I'm installing matte black rims let me just fucking rip all the paint off by draging it in circles on the floor.. good job lol
who said you would do it EXACTLY like this? Put the fuckin rim on a rug or on the grass and don't fuck your shit. Use your brain instead of looking like a brain dead -cant think for himself- moron.
3:07 homer simpson? lol
if i was to do that on my new rims, it'll be all scratched up after i'm done. did you hear all those bad scraps ?
I would've done it on the grass not to scratch the rim, but ehh, to each his own.
my spine shriveled when he did that. sloppy jalopy
Mine too but still informative
what about balancing. Could you bend the rim doing it this way?
Please share with us all how you dismounted the tire and then do it with in 5mins.... Also take note to the scratches and ding he put in the rim. Next question, are you putting this on a drive axle? If so, you will have your wheel will spin on the tire causing bead damage.
Does it work with any size tires ?
I have a breaker bar with a red handle will it still work
Lol all these people commenting about screwing up your rims. I've done this to numerous rims and not ONE have I screwed up. So maybe rethink how you're trying to put it on...? The way he did it in this video people have been doing for years no problem.
he scratched that rim, the noice was making hold my breat
any good ways to break the bead down? I used my Arbor press once, but it took 2 guys, one to support the wheel/tire, and one to operate the ram. It was sort od "a bitch" guys back when cars had bumper jacks, used to set the base of the bumper jack on the bead, and start to jack the car up. Motorcycle tires, are E-Z just used a C clamp or vise.
billy hold my beer
How to scratch your rims
U should open a tire shop right there on your drive way
a more appropriate title wouldve been "how NOT to install a tire on a rim"
was that stuff he was putting on just grease?
To get it to beed old shitty tires that don't seem to fit some starter fluid (not allot or you will bust that tire) and a little fire will beed it right up. Obviously you'd want them balanced by a shops machine whenever possible but this method does work if you just need a tire to get you through state inspection with no money spent from getting a shop to do it or get your farm vehicle rolling again.
That's not a breaker bar, it's a pry bar kiddo. Breaker bars usually have 1/2 " drives for beefy sockets.
3:47 does the breaker bar handle have to be orange?
im not strong or hevy enogh to do this, im struggeling so much after many hours im still not even done with my first tire and im currently struggle on this part 3:43 D:
lol watching people put tires on rims themselves is the best
what about resetting ur tire pressure?
Hey I’m in Buffalo too! You forgot to tell people that they should swap out their summer air for winter air.
1:10 when the jaw drops..
there's a FUCKING WOODEN BENCH behind him. Fat lazy sad
Scratching the chrome on the cement
Tire also comes off easier too with grease
All that beverage money you saved!!
okay great.....now how do you take the tire off the rim. lmfaooo
good job but try this with some 40 series low pro tires lol
Gotta keep those sandals clean too
...and if they won't seat, spray starting fluid in there and wad up a piece of paper. Light the wad of paper or anything really, on fire. Throw at wheel. Makes a cool noise, and seats the tire instantly. Sometimes bigger truck tires will jump. Good times.
what about balancing?
Mounting is easy, let's see you break one down.
Let's see you try that with a brand new UTV 8 ply tyre on 14" rim. No chance at all even with an X-tra pair of hands!
Damn, I'm light.
what about sealing the tire popp'n the bead
hold my beer
So quick question is he putting w- 40
Whats that tool called the one that he is using
What about the scratches you made on the rim
Pretty handy with the paint brush I see. Might want to take up painting instead before u do too much damage or hurt yourself.!!
