He's such a sweet man. I love stories like this. Looking at how Skooty looks at him with such obvious love made me think of Jennifer Hudson's song, "Your Gonna Love Me!" Some people are so surprised by how loving cats are. The misconception about cats melts away quickly when a cat purrs and rubs and just loves their humans.
I also believe the energy one puts out towards any living creature is the energy you get back. A lot of people dislike cats from the get go so they return the same. Lol.

One of my best friends (dog owner) was pleasantly surprised the other night with my 7 yr old boy cat who loves people. He would make a bee line when I have visitor. My 10 yr old girl would hide instead. She is a typical cat after all! 😂

I think of it in the opposite way. Cats love to be around people that initially don't really care .. they are drawn to that "take it or leave it" energy and turn on the charm!

That’s so right, I can’t say I don’t like cats, but every cat I meet first wants to be pet and is super friendly and then just bites me out of nowhere. Now I don’t trust cats anymore 🤔😕
@@corvuscorona6019 Some cats bite when they're overstimulated from being petted. That's particularly normal if they don't know you.
I used to be one of those many years ago, until my Panda found me. She changed me for the better. Rescuing them is a privilege . This man was saved by Scooter.
@ Allison true even if they do know you and you've overstimulated them. Not really a bite tho ... more of a nip when people aren't paying attention to the other subtle clues cats give.
My Dad wasn't a huge fan of kitties back in the day, but them Snowball became pretty much a best buddy to him😊 May they both rest in peace Edit: You guys are All Amazing, I appreciate all the kind words and stories, thank you😊💯
They are both having fun with each other until you can join them. They know it will be a while bc you still have buisiness to attend here but oh boy when you do get there....it will be truly special

I'm sorry for your loss. My Mom and our sweet little Rat Terrier were best friends, too. Mom died 4 years ago and our munchkin passed away a year later. She was confused as to why we weren't visiting my Mom and it made her so sad. I miss them both very much, too. Cheers.

Honestly, respect to Christina and her folks. It takes a lot of guts, brains, business skills, and other things to own a business, especially during Covid and being Asian, as she said, and especially owning a cat cafe? That takes serious sanitation skills, and management of the animals, to take care of them and love them and give them the proper care they need, but they do (from what it looks like, I don’t know 100%). So major respect to them, and major respect to them for making masks, that’s super rad of them.

People don’t hang out in gross or dirty places, especially with their kids or beloved pets unless they live dirty themselves. Most people don’t. It’s a safe assumption it was doing fine before the pandemic kept most people in large cities home, if it only closed due to the pandemic.

Yup, my Dad wasn't the biggest fan of our cats after they did a huge misbehavior, but then later on he softened up alot haha

Our Dad took such care of our family cat after college. He was not crazy about taking on a cat, but ended up taking care of our tabby. Treated her like one of his girls too! Rest in peace Dad! ❤️💯🙏

People that say they don't like cats it's because they have never been enough time around one. Cats are super affectionate and protective of their loved ones and are far away from being the jerks people think them to be.
Well... many of them are still jerks, but they're also loving and affectionate so it's ok 😁
@@cocolime6496 agree about many cats are jerks. I've tried interacting with them but most either just hiss or try to scratch me. Dogs however are amazing. never have I been hurt or growled at by any dogs
@@ViewByRay Cat's sense your real feelings, they can't be hidden. They're reacting to that. They won't like you in return. My now adult child once dated a person our cat hated. She'd attack the person constantly. My child listened to the cat. Our cat knew this person wasn't ok to be with. Never happened again.
I once read that many prefer dogs to cats because bonding with a cat is very similar to building a friendship with other humans; it takes time, boundaries and respect and for some people that's too much "work". Neuroimaging/behavioral studies found some interesting results - dogs treat humans better than other dogs and cats treat humans just as they would treat other cats, as equals. God, I miss my cat so, so much...
@@ViewByRay maybe its the way you reach out to pet cats? you cant just go up to them and start petting all wild like with dogs, a giant strange hand coming at them is going to be scary. be gentle, let them sniff you, and then give a little scratch on the chin. it also helps to be sitting closer to the ground instead of coming at them from above

Skooty makes him feel more energized and more alive. You can tell by looking at his face when he's around him. Sometimes, pets work better than medicine.

I was here to say this. I live in NYC in an area with a lot of Korean people (and other Asian ethnicities), and let me say I feel SAFER around Asian folks in terms of covid than other groups because if you look at the stats, they are like 99% vaccinated and boosted, while others lag behind a lot. My Asian neighbors always wear masks. Their businesses have the most protections for their customers and employees.
No wonder cats love his energy, he's just so calm and gentle

Aww my dad was the same way. He never had been around cats, never liked cats until I adopted my first baby. He immediately fell in love with her, he worked hard to get all our strays TRN-d.

I was baby sitting a couple kids while their aunt was out years ago. My dog ignored them but my cat(now passed)Manny wanted to be friends with the girl who was terrified of cats. I had to stop her from screaming like a banshee and let Manny come near. He was a gentle boy, no claws to hurt, he never bit anyone and he insisted on being this girl's friend. So he plopped into her lap and the girl started petting Manny who absolutely loved the attention. I asked are you still afraid of cats? She said she loved my boy. I said I told ya he wouldn't hurt you. And the funny thing was Manny had never seen a child before but was extra gentle. If it wasn't for two cats I met in my 20's who were as calm and as gentle as my Manny was, I would never have gotten over my fear and dislike of cats. I'm now with a pair of cats. #4 and 5. So I'm not surprised that this cat knew how to make this dad comfortable. And my very first cat mom got me. A devout cat hater she was until she met my first cat. She loved her because she was mine. I used to be terrified of dogs as a kid until I was asked to babysit a poodle. Supervised of course. I fell in love with dogs, no more fear and decades later I had a dog for 16 years. Dogs and cats, or any animal, have a way about them that can reach people.

My parents specifically my dad never liked cats, raised in a culture that talked bad about cats but one fateful day in 2018 this tuxedo stray just appeared in our driveway and the next I see is cat food. I was shocked my dad accepted this cat after the cat adopted us 😆🌹♥️

You don't choose the cat life, it chooses you. My mom got adopted by a cat immediately after moving into a new house and their relationship is incredible. She never liked cats until one forced it's way into her heart.

I always had dogs growing up, and then I met my future wife 35 years ago, well let's just say we don't have any dogs, but we sure have adopted an loved a lot of beautiful and thankful cats in that time ❤. You can't help but love them, each with their own personalities! 😻😺

I sympathize with the person in this video. My family too owned a small minority business, that was destroyed by the government's policies in 2020-2021. It will never come back. Nobody cares, we will be forgotten, just like all the other people this happened to.

I think my favorite part is him checking out the cat carriers to see if there are fosters he's so excited for new kitties to befriend!
I mean, come on. How freaking adorable is this? "Hanging out with Appa" It's just the definition of wholesome. And that photo of "Appa", down on his hands and knees and looking into those pet carriers - just so sweet. Watching Korean dramas together...it's just the best. This. This story would make a great children's book, it has such a happy and important message.

This reminds me of the one time my sister brought home a kitten around the time I was like 10 or 12, my parents were not happy about him being with us for like 2 days, but then I see my dad being so gentle and loving towards him, giving him a cute meow and sharing his meals with he cat, we ended up giving him away to our cousin since my sister has asthma but a year later we were able to adopt a very needed dog we cherish and love for, so I see this as a win win for everybody
This reminds me so much of how lucky I am for having the loving dad that I have.

Reminds me of my dad. Swore he was allergic to cats most of my life. It wasn't until I brought home my second cat Piper. I had just picked her up from an adoption agency but needed to run out to get cat supplies since she wasn't eating the cat food we had on hand, found out she only ate soft food from her foster mom. I left her in my room and told my dad to keep my door closed so she couldn't escape. An hour later, I come home to find my dad halfway under my bed trying to get Piper out to see her. Let's just say, he's no longer allergic to cats.

Skooty picking Dad was a huge honor. We need to keep our elders in the loop. It keeps them active and apart of the life cycle.
Growing up, my family always had cats. But, when we got married, my husband said, no cats! Thirty years later, we’ve had 9 of them and he’s had several favorites. 😻

Got my Fletcher 18 years ago as a companion for my dog. 1st cat. Turned out to be a bigger companion for me, especially as my health has worsened. Sleeping on my side right now. Cuddle bug for sure.

My dad wasn't a fan of cats either until he met a foster cat Louie that my brother brought home during the initial covid lockdown in March 2020. The whole family and Louie quarantined together for several months. Then when the cat rescue people called to say they had found Louie a forever home, my dad couldn't let him go. So we told them we're keeping Louie and that we're open to fostering more cats (but not failing this time lol). We've been fostering cats for over a year now and Louie has been so wonderful with all our foster kitties. It's so sad when they leave us, but we're so grateful for the time we get to spend with them. Louie has been a blessing and we love him so much.
