  • For all those saying the Blazers are weak competition or that Drexler isn't that good then how come Drexler was able to average 26-8-6 on 54% shooting against one of the greatest defensive teams of all time the 1990 pistons in a losing effort? People confuse the Blazers lack of big names outside of Drexler for being a weak team. The truth is they had 6 players scoring in double figures for the playoffs - Terry Porter averaged 21-5-7 on 52% for the 1992 Playoffs to complement Drexler. He also outplayed Kevin Johnson and John Stockton in back to back rounds in the 1992 WCSF and 1992 WCF. -Terry Porter in 1992 became the only player to average at least 15 ppg, 50% FG, 45% 3PT In an NBA Finals run (min. 1.5 3PA/game) - In the 1992 Playoffs he had 21.4 ppg - 4.6 rpg - 6.7 apg on 52% FG - 47% 3PT - 83% FT - They had the same Cliff Robinson that was a key starter of the 2002 and 2003 Pistons with the number 6 and number 1 defense in the league, as well as another elite defender like Buck Williams. Only difference is this Cliff Robinson wasn't washed up at 35 and 36 years old like he was with the 2000s Pistons. They also had a great supporting cast of Porter, Kersey, Duckworth, and Ainge (same Ainge who was a key contributor of the Celtics in the 1986 Finals). This team was insanely deep. - The Bulls beat the same team that the Bad Boy Pistons needed to beat in order to win a championship, and somehow it is only the Bad Boys that played in a tough era? - I have heard some people say that Jordan would have never beat the Jazz when they had Malone, Stockton, and Eaton on the same team. Malone, Stockton, and Eaton could not even beat this 1992 Blazers team, and they also lost to the Blazers in 1991 with Thurl Bailey as well. - The Stockton, Malone, and Eaton/Bailey Jazz in 1990 also lost in the first round to Kevin Johnson's 5 seed Suns team, and the Suns did not even have Charles Barkley on that team like they did in 1993.

    • @@TheDAWinz 1992 Finals - Jordan took 36 more FGAs than Drexler - Jordan 46 FTAs - Drexler 56 FTAs The Bulls were also ranked at the bottom 8 of the league in free throw attempts in 5 out of their 6 title seasons. In 1992 they were ranked 16th out of 27 in free throw attempts, so they were still a below average team in terms of drawing fouls in the lone season that was an exception. The Bulls also had less free throws than their opponents did, collectively, in 4 out of their 6 title seasons during the playoffs, and 4 out of 6 NBA Finals. The 2 exceptions were, again, 1996 and 1998. Since Jordan's last NBA Finals in 1998, only 4 of the 18 NBA Finals winners from 1999 to 2016 attempted less free throws than the losing team. 2000 Lakers2009 Lakers2013 Heat2015 Warriors The Bulls had to overcome that obstacle 4 times in only 6 title seasons alone, both for the Finals and against their playoff opponents collectively. Further proving that if anything, the odds were actually against the 90s Bulls in terms of officiating or free throws.

      @JP-qt7ho@JP-qt7ho5 жыл бұрын
    • Freethrows aren't the only thing in officiating. You don't get freethrows from charge calls and the such, plus you can get in foul trouble without being in the bonus, which this whole series proves. They fucked over the blazers with lots of No calls and bad calls in general, while the Bulls could get away with anything like ALWAYS.

  • People forget, but I remember being a kid at this time, and everyone was saying Drexler was the second best player in the NBA; not shooting guard, but second best player. After this season he was never the same, and he had some good years, but was never that dominant player he was here, and had some injuries. Same with Barkley, the next season he goes to the Finals and then he is never the same either. People that go up against Jordan just never leave the same, sounds strange, but he's like that fighter that ruins you. Today Drexler is always rated below the top stars of that era like Barkley, Malone, Ewing, Olajuwon, Robinson, Jordan of course, and even Stockton probably. Sad because he goes from being the second best to not even being close to that.

  • Michael Jordan is like the Manny Pacquiao in boxing. All the opponents he faced in NBA Finals just get morally demolished. When MP got knocked out cold against Marquez, he came back and became a champion again and beat Thurman on his last fight. For MJ that could be the days against the Pistons or coming back from his retirement. Emotionally and mentally, there could be a lot of questions and hurdles that he might not win another chip but ends up getting another 3 peat. Both had the challenging times of their career but still find a way to prove the naysayers wrong. That's what greatness is all about. The greatest achievement is when you get back up from a knockdown or a knockout. Dealing with a tough loss could either make or break people's passion. Overcoming a loss is already half way winning the next fight.

The Jazz had two of the best players of all times in their respective positions, but the competition was so tough they never won a title.
