  • I love how he doesn't sweeten the life with a bird, he's honest about how hard cleaning and feeding them is, preventing unprepared and thoughtless people from wanting one as a pet. Also, I love magpies - it's so weird one of the smartest animals on the planet just walk among us in the cities, and we don't even pay much attention to each other.

  • The funny thing is I cared for a magpie for a few weeks, when I found it half dead in the park near where I live. I brought it to my garden literally just 5 metres away, to keep it safe. It couldn't fly and he had a gash along his neck and back (possible cat attack). We tried local wildlife aid... nothing. vets.... again nothing. I didn't want to leave it so I kept it in my large shed at night with everything it needed. Every morning at six, I'd let it out for fresh air, run around the garden, gave it food. He would like to spend hours outside can then run into the shed when he wanted. Everyday we did the same, but I kept my distance. And then finally it started to flap it's wings. And then the next day it flew away. So proud of him!

    • Had a similar experience, a young magpie got stuck in my window well, we fished him out, but the family had moved on, nursed him back to health until he could fly, and brought him to a nearby bird sanctuary sort of place, so he could grow up and learn how to be with others of his kind. Pretty sure he came back after with a family of his own

  • I rescued a magpie, which I named Pacino, a few months ago which had been attacked by a cat and had an injured wing and all her tail feathers ripped out. So I kept her for a few weeks, fed her up, let her heal then released her. She couldn't properly fly when I let her go so she stayed in my garden up in the trees and on the shed, and after a few weeks her feather were grown back enough for her to fly. She will still come back to my garden, now with her mate, and I can recognize her from her uneven feathers. They're ridiculously smart animals and I totally get why he enjoys having one as a pet so much.

I can't help but think my favourite crow passed away. I used to feed them several times a day for about 5-6 years. I really miss them. The crow cafe sounds lovely! I never thought I'd love crows, until two adopted me! They used to sit and watch me in my kitchen all the time. It's not the same without them.

      @finnjones2028@finnjones20286 жыл бұрын
    • You're more likely to get kicked in the face by a horse than a shark biting you, it doesn't mean you should fear it. In fact certain animals sense fear, it makes them skittish and more likely to hurt people. I've saved animals that could've easily killed or injured me, if I feared them I wouldn't of done and they wouldn't of lived. People are always hesitant to help wild animals, please don't be one of those people. There's no greater feeling than an animal's trust, the magpie I saved nearly a decade ago still comes back to see me

    • Taamz Heart it is more of Christianity's doing. In Germanic and Pagan religion/tradition crows are seen as wise, asociated with gods, guiding the souls of the dead and so on. A snake has many positive attributes in Greek mythology like healing-power and wisdom. The spider is also seen as more positive or at least neutral in Ancient Greece. Later many of those animals have become asociated with negative attributes due to Christianity.

Sometimes when I went for a bike I'd take it with me, but one day it just flew to a very tall tree... I waited for hours, but it still wasn't super confident in flight so I had to leave it there. I hope it's doing good and learnt how to care for itself; even if our bond lasted only for 3 weeks, today I still miss my little Pica

I remember working one day by the window and a crow was playing by taking stones, flying up, dropping them and trying to catch them again before they hit the ground. After a while some of his/her flock joined in and they were racing each other. It made me very happy to see animals doing something that must have been just for fun :) and not only that, but a game they had invented themselves.

  • In this now awful, selfish world we live in, it is so lovely and refreshing to see a young man like Charlie, do such a lovely, genuine act of kindness for this magpie, who without this young man's love would have died. It is clear the magpie adores the adopted parent (Charlie) and it is clear that Charlie feels the same. We can learn so much from creatures (even insects), they all do so much good towards the world and teach us how to treat the world and each other. Bees for example collect pollen then make all this wonderful honey, (that most of us take for granted). The love (like all animals show) is an unconditional love and Charlie will be paid tenfold for his genuine love and true kindness. I don't believe our creator is a man in the sky in judgement of us all, but i believe it's the spirit of all love and that the universe is made up all that love. This is truly a lovely video about love and the unconditional love Charlie gets in return is just a joy to see and so refreshing to listen to a young person that can actually speak the English language, rather than finishing every other sentence with "do ya know wha' i mean!" I hope they both have a long happy life together, 'Faith, hope and love, the greatest is love...'

    • London No Dippy Dolly Your the first person that thinks God is not a man. I've come to believe it doesn't matter whether God is male or female. I've never found anything in the Bible stating God is a Man. I think it's very possible that Men wanted God to be a Man thinking they are superior and wanted power over Women. Why make it a bad thing to educate Women anyway ? I find that suspicious right off the bat. Men are still trying to manipulate Women to this day. We're called a feminist if we try to stand up for Womens rights. Men have been fighting against Womens rights refusing to believe women are just as smart ect. I see no end to this ridiculous train of thought. Rape at an all time high due to this belief which is all about power over Women. Men have been treating Women as property since the beginning of time and until it stops things will never change sadly. Men would see things differently if the had to deal with being treated and thought of as a someones property to use and or abuse. No not all Men think like that. I know there are good Men out there. I applaud them all and thankful. Never change guys 😎

    • Anita Hammonds The Bible never states God is a man, it's unequivocally stated 'God is Spirit' in the Bible. God is only referred to as 'He' by way of human understanding, pretty much no Christian except for little kids believes God to be a man in the sky :) Just wanted to let you know! It's a common misconception of Christianity in particular that we believe in a 'man in the sky', but we believe in an all loving spirit just as much as any new-age follower or philosopher does :)

    • i do agree that animals are wonderful and we should appreciate them like charlie does. i won't really touch on the religious bits. but i think it's uncalled for to insult other people's way of speaking. when someone grows up around people who talk a certain way, it becomes so ingrained in them that that just becomes a part of their character. i think it's wrong to disregard that and pass it off as "they have trouble speaking english."

  • Magpies are so wonderful! i had the privilege of raising one here in New Mexico. She (?) had fallen in water and my neighbor found her and gave her to me. Rraca (Urraca is Magpie in Spanish) took over my life too, but it was the most fun. Does yours ever get mad tho...wow, she would try to take anything I was using, especially paint brushes, and would get so mad when I would take them from her! I learned to distract her with something else, an angry bird with a big pointy beak and strong feathers is not to be messed with. She flew all over the house, and outside, I would call her and she would land on my head, ouch. cuz they land and grab at the same time.. she loved to follow me on my bicycle, and would sit on the handle bars sometimes. She also stole things and had hidey holes all over the house. She hid peas in my pants cuffs one time, so silly. And loved baths, what a mess, and would dry her feathers in the sun with her head cocked to one side, basking I guess...I really miss her.... the flock of Magpies here wasnt her flock, and she was getting pecked on, so I worried about her fitting in...but there was a terrible accident, one of those split second timing things, and she got killed, so I didnt get to know her but one summer. I miss her terribly and loved watching yours in her beautiful "nest". I was hoping Rraca would be able to live wild...and just come visit from time to time, and I still cry when I really think about her. Her poop is still on lots of places, its hard as a rock and doesnt smell at all. RIP Rraca, you were loved.
