    • Half of playing a paradox game is learning how it works. CKIII is my game of choice, and despite playing hundreds of hours I still discover new little mechanics and stuff about the game every now and then. This tutorial is great because you want to prod the player to the point where they can figure out the game while playing it. Certainly that's how CKIII has been for me - the most fun is had when you're experimenting.

    • Amazing tutorial! Just one more thing, when and where should i invest in development? Should i wait till iam ahead of tech and at peace? Should i invest primarly in my capital or everywhere?

      @jakubkotas3617@jakubkotas36173 жыл бұрын
    • That is a good question! I don't have a definitive answer to that, unfortunately. However, I'll tell you what I usually do: Investing in development is primarily used to increased the stats of your provinces. It will gain you most to: - Increase Admin Dev. in your capital (however, that is expensive) - Increase Diplo Dev. in provinces with high value trade goods (this depends on the period your in, but Gold is always highly profitable) Secondly, you can use development to help the spread of institution. For example, let's say you are very unlucky and "Global Trade" spawns in China and you're somewhere in Europe. It is not smart to wait until it all spreads to Europe. Instead, you can increase development, which will help the growth of that institution. (Just try this out in a game and you'll get what I mean). My rule of thumb of when to invest is generally: - I need the institution (as explained above), or; - I have an excess of power points and I have nowhere else to spend them on. Hope this helps :)

      @roninodikai@roninodikai3 жыл бұрын
    • @@roninodikai If you start the game without dlc, and then buy ones, you can no longer play that save game sadly :( I have had this lots of times. I believe that transfering occupation is not part of a DLC anymore. You have to click the province, and that is where you can transfer occupation. If you want to give the province to you ally in the peace deal, simply select it there. It should now show up in the summary of the deal :)

  • It seems I watch a tutorial and maybe pick up a thing or two, playing Castile, usually go incredibly into debt, get attacked and then not sure what to do. The basic functions I know how to do. It’s things like should I go into debt to get the best councilors, combing regiments into an army, the nobility and making peace. Most tutorials talk too fast, they show things way to fast without zooming in or like yours is too blurred to often read. It’s nice that yours is easy to skim through and maybe I will pick up something that will help or I can build upon.

    • This game can be really tough. I also struggle to not get into debt with Castille. It is a deceptively difficult nation in my opinion (even though it is listed among the "recommended nations"). I personally prefer Aragon over Castille when it comes to playing in Spain. Good luck! :)

      @GameStach@GameStach Жыл бұрын
    • Thanks for using the generally accepted English spelling of Castile. One of my pet peeves of Paradox's EU and CK games is that they spell Castile with two Ls. And don't get me started on Victoria giving the names of German provinces in German when so many other countries have their provinces in the English equivalent.

  • I just want to say that this is one of the best tutorials I've seen about a game EVER. I'm new to Eu4 and I stopped playing it for a while but lately I've been getting back into it and I'm trying to learn the game because I really love it and I love how realistic it can be. Don't get me wrong I also love Hoi4 and other paradox games but lately I've taken a keen interest in EU4 and it's starting to become one of my favorite games. One reason that I would prefer EU4 over Hoi4 is that EU4 is in it's own way really realistic becasue of the complexity which for some reason most people don't understand or even try to understand. I'm planning on doing a lot more EU4 in the coming Thanksgiving break and I really cannot wait until I actually get good at the game. I just want to say that this tutorial has definetly helpled a 70 hour noob like me. And I can say for a fact that this tutorial is going to make me enjoy the game evem better. Thank you so much and stay safe. Just earned a sub btw

  • Man i wish there were good Stellaris / HOI4 videos out there like yours; your intro was 100% correct in that most Paradox tutorial content on YT tends to be meandering, unscripted and full of unhelpful info or too overly technical for a beginner tutorial. You make very good use of the phrase "worry about that later."

    • Wow, thank you for your amazing compliment :) I have a degree as a teacher, so I know that most people (myself included) don't have an extremely long attention span; so I try not to tell non-essential information. Before making this video, I obviously watched what other tutorials were like, and most of them start by going over the icons in the top bar. That sometimes takes them an entire episode of 20 minutes. I did that in under a minute, because I think people can read a tooltip themselves - they don't need me to do that for them. But anyway, if people know enough to play the game comfortably after my video, my goal is achieved :)

      @GameStach@GameStach3 жыл бұрын
    • man, I feel you, I bought stellaris like 2 years ago and I just gave up because the games tutorial is so hard to grasp and to watch tutorials with 40 mins about 1 single thing is just ridiculous

  • Amen for the opening sentence of this video. I just stumbled on an EU4 tutorial for Castille that looked pretty popular, but it was boring as F### telling me all minutiae that didn't tell me ZIP about the game and what's the point of it. Already I can tell this video is the video for me (a newb wanting to know what this game is all about). Thank you!

  • This seems like a very good video that gets to the point with it's tutorial. I liked how it just flowed between topics and gave you a guide that is under 20 minutes that goes through everything important. I did see that video that was mentioned at the start. I do disagree with that video, If someone wants to play EU4 as a role-playing game, it's perfectly fine to. People should play games how they want to.

    • It sure is! CK2 is, in my opinion, more about the characters and not so much about conquering (although you can still do this of course). I'm more of an "I want to conquer everthing" kind of guy, so that's why I enjoy EU4 a bit more than CK2. How about you? Anyway, thank you for your compliment! Glad to hear it helped!
