All I can say, is that Crusader Kings 3 is definitely not a FPS
Let me pin that so the world can know!
damn i didn't know that
Can someone please explain to me the appeal of this game? is it only menus & maps? How does anything happen? I encountered this game by comments of some people under videos about RTS games (which i love) but i can't begin to understand what kind of game this even is so i'd know whether i want to play & therefore learn it or not.
@@childofvenus3781 well it's definitely not a 2D side scroller if that helps
@@childofvenus3781It’s… weird at first. It’s a role playing strategy game where you manage whatever type of ruler you wish to be and events play out. It’s fun once you get the hang of it but it’s overwhelming for a beginner due to all the different things you can do and manage.
"Sadistic lets you kill your children." "That will prove useful later in the game." That was Game of Thrones-level dialogue. LOL
Don't quote me on that! :'D
Its a Mouskatool we can use for later
This game confuses the hell out of me I would like a part 2 xD Your tips were very clear and helpful thank you so much for this!
Thank you very much! :D If I were to make a part 2, which subjects would you like to see covered?
@@GameStach The stress thing seems to confuse me and maybe more indepth with in game currencies like piety and gold! I would also like to see how a pro gets better people to their courts. I'm really new so a lot of things are difficult.
@@GameStach I also found this video very helpful and a second one would be great, I only just started playing, maybe something about expansion? when to start pushing for more region? I'm sure there is much more.
Late answer, but the best advice that people gave me when I first started playing is to just play until you lose (or win) and learn from your mistakes in the next playthrough. With that said, one of the most important things to learn first imho is how to prepare for succession (what happens to your realm when you die). Ideally you want your realm to remain intact wherever possible.
@@GameStach I'd suggest covering what one needs to know to play as a vessel to a higher rank ruler, how to rank up, etc. Also as @christiaanbruin4989 suggests preparations for succession would be useful.
I have like 30ish hours in this game, which mostly consisted of me being confused, baffled, blundering and flailing about like a drunk seal. Your tutorial has actually helped me so much, i will definitely be returning to it using all this fantastic information. Thank you so much, you've turned a dormant game into one that I'm excited to try again!
Thank you for sharing and for your amazing compliment! Great that it was of help. Hope you're enjoying the game :)
Creating a custom character is by far the most fun, but I highly suggest to play your first playthrough as Murchad in 1066. Ireland is very easy to conquer and relatively safe from invaders early on. With a custom position you just risk having a terrible starting area.
As an Irish person thinking of buying this game, what is the likelihood of me conquering England and starting a famine?
Yeah, I started the tutorial thinking .. ughh I guess I'll do this and then go play the "real game" .. but Murchad's campaign is actually pretty fun and it's easy going. So much so I want to restart but I dread having to redo the entire tutorial section.

I'm only a minute into this video and by God thank goodness people like you exist. Can't wait to learn the basics of CK3 without watching a 40 minute tutorial, then finding I have to watch parts 2-5 as well...
Thank you very much! Hope the tutorial helped :)
Thank you so much for making this. I've had CK3 in my steam library for ages and always been unsure of what to really do every time I decide to give it another try, but after watching this I actually had some confidence in what I was doing :D
Wonderful to hear! I hope you'll enjoy the game :)
I hope this blows. Super tutorial, complete and easy to understand, it is great. I was wanting to know all the basics and your video came out on time. Thank you, really. Hope your channel grows !
Thank you very much! Happy to hear it helped! :D
Firm agree! 🤞🏻
that's not how you use "I hope this blows"
@@hatimzeineddine8723I'm assuming they just forgot to put the up after blows lol
OK Sandra Bullock.
Thanks for the tutorial. It helped me a lot. I was feeling very overwhelmed at first but now I’ve started to understand it more.
I been playing for a couple of days and this is the best tutorial video I've watched, thank you.
Thank you, that's great to hear! Hope you're enjoying the game :)
Really great walkthrough. You answered a lot of the questions that I had!
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback. Glad I could help and I hope you're enjoying CK3 :)
Thank you so much for this video! I've been overwhelmed by this game for weeks. Now I have a basic understanding. Subbed!
Thank you! Great to hear my video helped! Are you enjoying CK3?
I just started this week. Love the vid bro! Hope your channel grows
Good luck, it's a fun game! Thank you! I hope so too :)
I just got the game. This is the third video I have watched and byfar this one left me with the most confidence. DUDE you are awesome at making something that is both informative yet concise and not boring. There was not a single point of my attention wandering and I have ADHD. Good job dude and thanks for the help.
This is the best tutorial ever made regarding the difficult games of Paradox. To the point and easy to understand clear explanation. Finally I am about to understand the game... ;-)
I just watched your eu4 tutorial, and saw you had made one for ck3 as well. Super helpful :)
Awesome! Glad I could help! :D
Great tutorial! It's good to finally see someone speaking from a perspective of a complete beginner, following each small step. I started playing paradox games with HOI4 and it was impossible to find a good tutorial. Almost everyone suggests to pick a strong nation at the start, since it gives you the most advantages, but what those people dont realise is a complete newbie that has no idea of game mechanics can't utilize those advantages at all. Everyone seem to assume you have the basics in line which I don't, so ultimatelly I had to learn everything myself, starting with small generic nation to learn the basics. It's great that I stumbled upon your channel wanting to try out CK3, I wish I had a tutorial like yours starting with paradox games. Really great job you've done, best of luck!
Wow thank you very much for your extensive comment and nice words! Glad that my tutorial helped :) I also have tutorials for EU4 if you're interested by the way. It is a bit more difficult than the other Paradox games I have to say, but it's also the only game I still play regularly. And yes, you're right about others telling you to play the strongest nations. For some games that is the best way to learn, I think; for example with HOI4 or EU4, since, if you're too weak, you'll probably be eliminated early on in the game. With CK3 specifically I think it's a terrible idea to start with a strong (or big) nation, since the power structure (counties, dutchies, etc.) is (in my opinion at least) quite difficult if you're new to it. Glad to see that you also noticed! :D
I've been asked if I know a good tutorial or tutorial LP for CK3, so I started looking. Great work, left a sub.
Awesome, thank you! :)
just bought CK3 and it's so overwhelming!! thank you so much for this video! a lot of it isnt relevant yet, mostly cause i havent booted the game up but i will definitely come back to it and use it as a reference. thank you again!!!
You're welcome! Hope you'll enjoy the game :)
That was probably the nicest way I've anyone ask for a like an sub. So I did respectfully. This was very helpful. I've had the game for a while but was very overwhelmed. I will also check out your other videos. Thanks again.
Thank you very much! Hope it helped and hope you're enjoying the game. When it finally clicks, it becomes really fun :)
Very clear and straight to the point thank you
I watch surreal beliefs and his ck3 videos are my absolute favorite thing bc he makes it feel like a movie and it makes me want to try the game
I am returning player after a pause of months, you video is really good, I will definitely check up your channel, best of luck ❤ (Must learn quick to go back to my Moroccan Kingdom)
You are a great KZheadr! I am subscribed just so I can see you grow and become the big creator you deserve to be! Thank you for making CK3 easier to understand, you are great at describing things and at being concise. You also have a pleasing voice, the accent is especially appealing to Americans like me. I think you could have great success making videos about stories you’ve had in CK3 or other paradox games. Or even narrating real history stories! Your voice and ability to communicate should be shared with the world!
Wow, you're making me blush! Thank you very much. You're too kind :) It would be amazing if I could turn this into my job, but I also have to stay realistic and not expect too much. I will, however, keep trying and making content that I hope you love! Thank you for getting on board with me :D
Every tutorial I see on this game with it being “quick” makes me wonder what I got my self into.
I revently bit the bullet and bought CK3 when it was on sale. CK2 confused tf out of me and I never really felt like I knew what I was doing, so this tutorial has been really helpful!
Awesome! That's great to hear, thank you! Hope you're enjoying the game :)
This video is fast, to the point, no bullshit and easy to understand. 👍 Been wanting to get into this game for awhile but even the games tutorial has me going wtf am i doing!? Even had to look online to see if there was a ck3 for dummies book. Lol Thanks for making this a bit easier to understand for this old brain of mine.😊
Thanks for the comment! Hope that my tutorial helped a bit :) Enjoy CK3!
About How to find someone to marry: instead of using the "Find Character", you can just click on your character and click "Find Spouse". Then you can just use the filters there to find the traits you want, and only the ones willing to marry you will appear. Much simpler imo. Otherwise it's a great video!
After long and ardous effort to find a wife, most player will marry their half sister to strenghten the crown claim anyway 😂😂
@@kingdom1872 lmao true 😂
Thanks man, I was having a bit of trouble getting going cause I wasn't even entirely sure what this game is but I get it now and I'm looking forward to installing my GoT mod and getting some time in now that i get how the base game works on its own.
Let me know how the GoT mod is! Might try it myself :)
Excellent video. Definitely deserved my sub! Thank you so much kind sir
No, thank you for taking the time to write this comment! It really makes my day! Thank you :)
Very good introduction guide thanks
Thanks for the tutorial I picked up this game long ago and I was completely lost on what to do with all the new additions.
You're welcome! How are you enjoying the game so far?
@GameStach It has been a lot of fun to get back into. I'm trying to break the things engraved into me by hours of eu4 to expand expand expand, which is proving hard to do.
I stumbled upon CK3 in a live stream and I was confused as hell, but at the same time thought that this might be a game for me. You covered everything I needed to know to start out, get a feel of the gameplay, without spoiling some of the OP strategies (ok, murdering your children might be one of those). I think I'm gonna buy it. Thanks a lot!
Awesome! Let me know how you're enjoying it :)
I wonder if you have any idea about how great of a tutorial you have made. You got yourself a subscriber
Thank you and welcome! That's really nice of you to say :)
Thank you kind man, I will pick this game now :D
You're welcome! Hope you'll enjoy the game :D
My brain hurts, but I THINK I'm ready to play now. Thank you for the awesome, condensed tutorial. :)
And thank you for your awesome comment! Hope you'll enjoy the game :)
Great tutorial, thank you!
Thank you! :D
i played years ago but forgotten most of it, here for refresher course ;)
I begin then thank you for the tutorials.
This video is an absolute gem!! It has been so hard to find resources that are made by people who actually remember what it’s like to be a beginner, and that address the biggest pain points and knowledge gaps. Also, I love that as a KZhead creator, you are self-aware enough to realize that most KZhead “how-to’s” are loaded with SO MUCH BULLSHIT! There’s nothing I hate more than pressing Play, and the presenter spends 10 fucking minutes saying, “Hey guys, if you’re watching this video right now, it’s probably because you have this video game called CK3 and you were having some difficulties figuring out how to play it. So, you picked up your phone, you opened your KZhead app, you searched for CK3 “how-to” videos, and now you’re here. So what is this video going to show you how to do? I’ll explain that in just a minute, but first let’s talk about some other reasons that you might have gone in search of a “how-to” video, and some of the many other ways you may have made your way to this one…..” Anyway, thanks again, great stuff! And now I think I finally have the confidence to dip my toe into this game and have some fun!
I started playing on the Xbox last night. The in-game tutorial was ok, but left me without a clue for most things. Your guide here is extremely helpful. I'm going to follow through it tonight.
Good luck and thank you! Hope you're enjoying the game :)
I've always wanted to try this game out. Did so yesterday (on stream, no less) and was basically destroyed within minutes. Well, at least the viewers were entertained by my failure. But one day I will conquer my hometown, I swear it! 😄 Your video has already helped me a great deal, thanks a lot.
Haha, yeah, it's a game that you can lose really quickly all of a sudden! Sounds like fun! I subscribed, so hope to catch you online soon :)
@@GameStach Thanks man. I don't stream reguarly but you're always welcome to come in.
A great 20 min primer for CK3, obviously can't fit everything in in that time but frankly the only thing i'd have added is a bit about buildings in holdings but frankly this is great for new players.
Thanks! Yeah, I think you're right! Thanks for the suggestion :)
This is a clever tutorial thumbs up
Thanks :D
thanks bro Keep Going❤
Thank you! I will :)
thank you for this!

great tutorial with no waffling and huge intros
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for the subtitles. Hello from Brazil !
You're welcome! Hello there in Brazil! Best wishes from The Netherlands :)
I don't think he put subtitles in there. Must have CC on
We're at the ruler customization and I'm still trying to comprehend Europe, big Bulgaria, 2 Frances, a lack of china, part of Siberia being empty.
thank you for the video !
You're welcome! Thank you for your comment! :)
Just bought the game after falling into the rabbit hole of watching Zieley save people's messed up games. I tried the free CK2 and created the Kingdom of Ireland but after a while I lose the kingdom to internal and external strife. CK3 seems to be a little more forgiving and I can't wait to master this game and start building empires.
Thank you.
this is, for obvious reasons, not a guide to understand 100% of the game but it will surely help you to get your feet wet on the game. im currently at 200~hours but here i am still looking for tutorials. thank you very much :)
Absolutely, that was my intention :) Good to know you’re still enjoying the game! Thanks for the comment. (Love your profile picture btw. Big fan of bocchi myself 😄)
@@GameStach would you consider doing the same for Victoria 3 ?
@@GameStach bocchi the rock is such a great anime, it made me go back to my guitar.
I actually am! But first I try to put in enough hours, so I have some idea of what I’m talking about 😋

Thank you! You're not the first to comment this! Maybe if the channels grows, I can do a collab xD
THANK YOU!
You're welcome! Thank you!
Thanks.. just got this for half price now deciding if it's worth it.. steep learning curve
You're welcome! Kinda depends on what kind of player you are. Have you played more strategy games? Have you played Paradox Games before? If yes, then it's definitely worth it :)
@@GameStach love total war, but mostly the battles. Did not like EU4 but didn't make an effort to learn it. I like RPGs so I bought it as I heard it was a cross. I mostly like strategy games like advance wars, fire emblem, chess, pikmin
Please make a part 2 😂 of all the tutorial i watched i only understood yours
This is an honest statement he wants to make this his full time job so he’s you don’t like an sub witch is nothing but moving your fingers then your really not that appreciative of the work an the free knowledge he’s giving you so be a good person an give this man a chance!!
Thank you, that is very much appreciated :)
Wow....great job, new sub
Thank you very much! That is very kind :)
at first at 15:31 when you declared war the sound that played sounded exactly like the intro to mask off by future, and i laughed my ass off imagining that song playing every time you declared war in a game based in the middle ages lmaooo
I didn't know that song, so I had to look it up, but loool, you're totally right xD
this is great but now i want to see you do super in depth and play some games
I am in over my head on this one 😂
awesome!
Glad you think so! :D
Decided to get into CK3 after playing 1000+ hours of Stellaris. Perhaps it just because I'm learning something new but I think CK3 is harder. This video was very helpful in streamlining the early game process for me, thanks!
Glad to hear it! Thank you! :)
Thx for the video! As am Austrian, I'd like to start as "Steyermark". Is their advice to be found, how to play as a vassal?
I love Medieval total war 1/2 and this game looks good.I’ll definitely need this tutorial saved. This game is deep. Above the knee for sure. Lol
I love the Total War games too! Thank you :)
Thank you so much for making me understand the game mechanics you definitely earned the sub but just a little question or two - Will i see all future events and bookmarks like the viking invasion fate of England etc if i start in the earliest period i.e., The Struggle for Iberia? And if I start in other parts of Europe except England Ireland scotland will the Vikings invade my kingdom or not? Kindly address these questions I'd really appreciate that
Thank you very much for the comment and the sub! :D 1. Yes, I think so! 2. I'm not sure about actual invading, but I do know that Vikings will raid basically everywhere if you have less levies than them. Hope that this helps!
@@GameStachAlright Thank you for replying!
I started this the other day in 1066 in Northumbria, was absolutely smashed by invasions and imprisoned. Was very confused. This has cleared a few things up, thank you. I played HOI4 but I never could manage invading Russia. A few hundred hours in Stellaris too but I still struggle to keep an empire going. Compared to both, how does CK3 compare? Can i "take my time"? Would you say its more laid back? HOI4 was so stressful sometimes.
Hello i love the video! What is an easy way to make money and improve military strength is one question of mine and the other is how to get casus belli because i have a hard time in doing those
Thank you! :) For money, I would focus on a lifestyle in the Steward > Avaricious tree. You can also (this is what I mostly do) upgrade buildings in your capital, since your capital is (most likely) the county that your heir will always inherit. Also don't forget to set the Steward in your Council to "Collect Taxes". For getting casus belli; it is sometimes easier to get those with different faiths or government types. In general: You can send your Court Chaplain to "Fabricate Claim on County". That will give you a claim on a County, which is going to be a bit slow. There are also so-called "De jure" counties, dutchies and so forth, which you get a claim to if you own a majority of the land from the Dutchy. (For example if the Dutchy consists of 3 counties and you have 2, you can declare war for the last one. Google this for more information). Ultimately, the easiest way to get started if you want to conquer a lot, is as a character in Scandinavia. The combination of Tribal with their faith lets you conquer Counties, Dutchies and Kingdoms easier and cheaper. Good luck! :)
@@GameStach thank you brother, you are the best, i had a hard time with the game upon first download however after this video and your comment it is very much more familiar and simpler to me, i subscribed instantly, cheers!

Jeez, man, kinda harsh to call out a fellow KZheadr like that...
Thanks dude for the tips, I started a campaign in Ireland and formed the kingdom, my next step will be forming the Britain empire. Any other fun nation to play as?
I like playing as the Duke of Uppland in Sweden. Not too difficult but still a challenge :)
Best game ever
i just figured i will try the gam eout with my gamepass before I buy it, but I noticed your start is different than mine, all I have is 2 star dates, you have a bunch of different options on top including from rags to riches 1066 start option. is that a DLC or a mod that give you all these options?
Good guide... I learnt something... pick Sadistic lol
Recently purchased the game, didn't know where to start. Thanks for this.
You're welcome! Thank you for your comment :)
Thanks for the walkthrough, just bought CK3 while on sale and I am very lost lol Went through the in-game tutorial thinking I got what I needed to know and boy oh boy, did I start off rough with creating my own character. Don't make a witch when your religion is Catholic and don't be shy or all your courtiers will think you're a wussy 🤣
btw, you could have also made your character younger, that also removes points. In your case, 18 would have been almost enough to get below the 400 points
Super video! Goed duidelijk uitgelegd, heb alleen problemen met het begin van de game, zoveel Engelse benamingen en verwondingen 😵💫
Dankje! Kan ik me wel wat bij voorstellen ... Bevalt het spel een beetje? :)
The best game EVER
Can I ask how you selected your lifestyle and already had 9 perks to unlock? I kinda followed the similar structure of creating my own ruler with the tips you gave and didn't have a way to unlock all those perks that fast.
this guy needs subs! only 4k subs and 147k views come on fellas!
On Xbox I maxed all my stats and traits used like hella points and it still let me get achievements
I have a question about 12:50 it says "chance of children : none" but then you wait and you got an heir? Can you explain? It was there even when "matrilineal marriage" was not selected.
Good question! I think that might have to do with some of the specific character traits that the spouse has or with the fact that my character was bisexual. I have had before that that prompt was not correct. Hope this helps!
Havent played it but Its still so similiar to ck2 i think
Yeah, I think so too! Like CK2, but less confusing in my opinion :)
I bought this on launch and I still don't know how to play it
Great video. Helped me alot
Glad to hear it! Thanks :)
I lost the war in a tutorial, this game is no joke.
Oh fudge >.
idk whats more borning learning chess or learning paradox games cuz both are fun but to get to play them on a higher level you need to be bored to death for hours
I have 240+ hours and it still feels like i'm a beginner 💀
Welcome to Paradox Games xD
What about raiding?
I created a marriage for my character but she didn't move to my holdings and therefor cannot join my council. How do I get her to move to my capital?
How can I rapidly expand the land in my empire? Every time I wage war, I only get the land that I had a claim on. How can I take all the land in a different empire?
I think the best you can do is conquer a Kingdom with the "Invade Kingdom" casus belli. You can, however, only use that casus belli if: - Your faith is unreformed, or; - Your faith has the Warmonger or Pursuit of Power tenets;
I see often the "not their rightful liege" or something similar to that. what does that mean?
Ah, good question! This happens if your subjects get the wrong subjects. Let me give you an example: Say that there is a Dutchy A and that Dutchy contains the Counties A1, A2. Also assume that A1 and A2 are not owned by you; so there are characters that have these counties. You will get the notification "not their rightful liege" if one of the counties is your vassal, i.e. they answer to you, but the associated Dutchy title is NOT owned by you. This happens because vassals want their liege to have their Dutchy title. (The same goes for country and empire titles if I'm not mistaken).
When i first started the game all i did was right click and left click in complete confusion, its the present now. I still dont know what the hell i do.
I bought this game an hour ago and I'm so confused. Thank you, because of your video. now I am very confidence to refund this game.
