It has been almost 2 years since I first reviewed the Braun Series 7, so I wanted to put together an update review.
The video and audio quality is much better, and I touch on many of the common questions which have been asked over the years. After reviewing many shavers, I still feel this is the best, and recommend it the most.
This Braun Series 7 review will cover the shaver design, cleaning station set up, and how it performs. In this particular review, I actually shave quite a thick and "grown out" beard, which is not always recommended, so that's important to keep in mind. Also, on this particular model, I haven't changed the blades for over 20 months.
In a future video, I'll go through how to make your own Braun clean and renew solution which has been a common question from many people.
Lastly, if you're still not sure which electric shaver is best for you, download the full 70 buying guide which is still offered as a FREE resource:

  • Just wanted to give a quick thanks. I've been using blades my whole life (Schick Quattro) and was tired with the razor burn just overall health of my skin I suppose. I finally made jumped on the Braun 7 and I love it! Fantastic shave. Close, smooth and no skin irritation at all. The low - medium settings does wonders on my skin. Your review was a big part of my buying decision. Thanks again!

  • I know this is from 5 years ago but I have to leave a review. As an African American male, I get so much irritation while shaving (especially with the multi blades which I stopped using). I get ingrown hairs, bumps, pimples/whiteheads which rupture and leave dark spots. Shaving has been very frustrating for me no matter what I do. A dermatologist awhile back told me the best thing I could do is grow out a full beard, well, I can't grow a full beard it's all patchy and uneven. He told me the next best thing would be to use an electric razor and just accept I would have stubble. If I need to get rid of that, use a single blade safety razor. I've gone through about 5-6 electric razors (including one supposedly designed for AA men) and most did absolutely nothing to the hair on my face. I have been using one the past couple of years in combo with a blade but it's very uneven and chafes the skin on my face. I saw the reviews on the Braun Series 7 and I decided to pick one up a week ago. This thing gave me the smoothest shave an electric razor has ever given me. I rubbed my face to feel any stubble and only felt very light stubble on my neck. The rest of my face was very smooth. I am very satisfied with purchasing this razor. I didn't pay full price though. I can't speak for anyone else and if it didn't work for others, sorry to hear that, but this has given me the closest shave I have ever gotten from an electric razor and i plan on using it for a long time.

    • ODK yea I have the same issue as you. I'm in the military and I have to be clean shaven every day. I always get bumps whether I use a single blade straight edge, safety blade, or even multi blade razors. it's embarrassing to be in your 30's and look like you have acne. I saw this at a local target for $115 and decided to buy it. I have been using it for a few days now and have noticed a difference. Sorry for the rant but this is definitely recommended for people who get ingrown hairs

    • Personally I've been cutting for over 20 years, I'm active duty, and my AA Marines and my self use the Andis Pro Foil. Ive discovered that lightly rubbing the profoil on your face after using a clipper encourages the hair to be cut at (or just slightly above) the skin. Cutting the hair beneath the skins surface encourages (folliculitis) ingrown hairs to grow back. I'm done with razors (to include single edge blades). Only time I use single edge blades is when I have a special occasion, but the blades are one time use barber quality blades that fit into a strait razor. The moment my face gets itchy or irritated, or I sense an ingrown is about to come in, I immediately begin to rub the area with my handy Dandy Andis profoil or at least some type of pro foil shaver

  • Best electric shaver ive ever owned. Ive done it all, razors, cut throats (dovo), electric rotary etc etc .. this is the quickest, none messiest, easiest, most comfortable shave and it cleans itself. As close as a blade without the irritation

  • Lol got one of these five years ago after watching your vid. I wore it out and ended up replacing it with a 5090cc. It's numerically a step below but is a more modern design and pretty much the exact same in terms of performance. It even fits a Series 7 head. You trade a couple of "features" but the build quality feels way nicer with the locking head actually working as intended and being useful. I also have a Philips Norelco 7000 shaver that I prefer over all in general.

  • I have a Braun Series 7 7898cc and it is the absolute best shaver I have ever owned! I have never gotten as close a shave as I get with the Braun Series 7 foil electric razor using any other method of shaving! I get a closer shave with this electric razor than I did using the Schick Hydro manual razor! I paid $135 dollars on Ebay with free shipping and it was worth every single dime it cost and then some! I highly recommend the Braun Series 7 foil electric razor! Trust me you won't regret buying this electric razor at all!!!!!!!

  • I'm interested in the Braun shaver with the cleaning station and realised that all series 3, 5, and 7 have that option. Is there any difference in what the station can do between the different series? In the website, they seem to look different for each series. Furthermore, what is the main difference between the series 3, 5, and 7? I guess the 7 will be the top of the line but I can't discern what makes it better than the other series. Thank's for your help!

  • Hi there so I have tried several foil shavers . Im on the fence so guess my beard is on the thick side currently my Panasonic es 8249 seems to be the most powerful. I havent seen you review any other "off" brands like wahl or eltron etc. I had a wahl lift n wash. Several of them actually and it's great. But battery loses steam. They cant be found anymore online. Also Grundig seemed to be good. Again another hard find. What abt the eltron el 2000?? Do you know anything abt that one??

  • When you renew the cutting block, people are saying that braun have redesigned the foil? The web shaped one (earliest) is best so how do you insure you get the correct one? Cheers Tyler

  • Job well done, very sticktuitive. I recently bought the 760cc Braun Series 7 on Ebay for 180.00 with free shipping, I think I got a good deal. This video review was extremely helpful. I want to make this shaver to last a long time, and your video gave me a lot of great advice on how to do that and save money. I also was very pleased that you mentioned that it is not meant to be a wet shaver. I was wondering if I would need to, or could, use shaving cream while using this shaver. I think I'll just do the dry shaves and save money on shaving cream too. Thanks again for your effort and openness. Lester.

  • Something that I think would be helpful when doing these reviews. Prior to recording your review, call the service center within the warranty period of the shaver with a complaint that would require service. List the steps a customer will have to take and what the shaver company is willing to do for the customer. Also list what the shaver company asks the customer to do to receive service for their shaver.

  • I had the same question as before. Based on his other video reviews, a great shaver for that price range is Braun's MobileShave series. Their M-90, top of the line in the series, is at $21.99 in Amazon. The good thing about this shaver that it already has a trimmer and it uses AA batteries. So, you can just replace them when it's needed. Tyler can elaborate more on the shaving experience.

    @Kiddomike@Kiddomike11 жыл бұрын
    • It's a reasonably effective shaver that's just as good as some more expensive models. The foil design is brilliant. The only drawback is that it's a bit aggressive and you should use a very light touch and maybe some preshave (they can also be used for wet shaving and are ideal for this, actually, much better than a bulky model that is difficult to clean).

In my country the 7 series is very expensive, it's even more expensive than it was in 2008, which is total bs but the new 5 series is affordable; thing is i can only find few german reviews about that. • On the 7 charge cord is just a 12vdc w positive to the left. So any 12Vdc power supply will work to charge the shaver. Due to wet head feature cleaning is better done in the sink or a Dixie cup with hydrogen peroxide and maybe IPA. Just remember to oil the foils to reduce wear and extend the life of the cutters and foils. Torn foils Easily repaired with a little silicone glue but not to much and do not worry about the glue on the inside of the foil next to the cutters. The cutters will easily shave off the excess cured Si glue. One last thing the older non wet Braun did not need washing. You just released the foil and turned on the shaver this removed all the cut hair. On the 7 and 9 the head release pops the head completely off so you cant use this trick to clean out the 7 or 9 head.

  • there is a serious flaw in the shaving foil that was completely overlooked. I have had this thing for a long time and there would be consistent tugging with each shave. I replaced the shaver head, , but the problem persists. one day, it actually tugged a hair out of my beard, and it revealed the major flaw. there is a wedge like crevice near the edges of the foil where hairs get caught. I went to the drug store to see if I just got a lemon foil, but the flaw was present on all of the foils. I wish you could share pictures in the comments, it would make this much easier to explain.

The most important thing to me is that it not cause pulling or irritation. The whole reason I am getting him the electric razor is because straight blades give him horrible irritation, ingrown hairs, and little bumps (falls under irritation lol). I am between the Braun 7 series and the Panasonic Arc4 ES-LA63-S Wet/ Dry shaver. Do you think I should go with the Panasonic? Is there a better brand or razor I'm not considering? @floodland99@floodland9910 жыл бұрын
    • No, you cannot force a dry after using the 'Fast Clean' mode. This is outlined in the manual that came with your shaver. They recommend using some paper towel to absorb any excess liquid. The drying mode does take about 20-30 minutes to complete and this is why it is not available for the 'Fast Clean'.

  • Pro tip: When you put a cleaning solution cartridge in the base, keep the plastic stopper that you remove to open it. After you do a cleaning, remove the cartridge, put the stopper back on, and put it away until the next time you need to do a cleaning at which time you'll repeat the process. The fluid is mostly alcohol which evaporates quickly. By doing this, the fluid will last much longer saving you money.

  • The cleaning station and liquid packs do not add very much to the price, but they are completely unnecessary. The S version that deletes this appliance is the better buy. It is very easy to flush out the head with water or isopropyl alcohol, and you then don't have old hairs sitting in a big electronic appliance sitting on your counter. To save the most money, don't shave as hard as in this video. The skin should not be pushed that much and a gentler pressure will really help, especially on the neck or on more mature and stretchy skin. Never push on the foil with your fingers and never brush the thin delicate foil because the brush can tear a hole in it. Only ever brush the blades on shavers, although with this shaver you can't really see the blades so just flush it all clean. Again, better to have a clean shaver head and all the hair down the drain than that big silly appliance sucking money into your countertop. Following these tips will half the cost of ownership of a Series 7 over time.

  • It's all bullshit! I bought the S7 with charging/ cleaning dock! Don't be fooled guys, this is a really nifty package but will not, not shave closer or better than your $50 budget shaver! I have a Remington F3 that pawns this S7 ... I was hoping the S7 would be razor euphoria but alas! I'll say one thing ... Braun may not be a close shave ( for my face) by they make good on their promise of "easy on skin"

    • Your right!!! I remember back in the late 1970's I bought a cheap norelco & it lasted 20 years. Gave me a much closer shave then the newer models of electric shavers now. They design them to break down in 2 years so you keep buying them. I get the cheapest one & last just as long as these $200 ones. I wish those old ones were available again. You could feel the hair being pulled out & closer shave. These new ones you have to shave every day. They are crap period. The blades on the new ones are crap.
