By Request-Braun Series 7 Electric Razor Review.
I’ve been requested several times to do a review of an electric razor. Some people can’t use the DE Blades that I usually use to shave with, and they have asked my opinion on an electric razor. This is the first electric razor I’ve tried in decades. I did a little research on KZhead and many people favor the Braun Series 7 razor over other newer models. I was able to purchase a new in box Series 7 and I’ll be using it today for the first time.

Hey Ken, nice to see you try electric. I really appreciate the fact that you don’t shy away from variety. Amazing and love your videos ✌🏼
Hi Ken, I have been watching you for about a year and I really enjoy the content that you are putting out.I enjoy the review and also the conversation aspect of your videos , feels like an old friend talking to me. anyway I just wanted to say keep up the good work. .
Thank you very very much
It’s cool to see you mixing things up! Variety is the spice of life. Everything gets boring after a while it’s fun to hop around and try new things it keeps it exciting. I have electric razors, Gillette cart razors and a huge collection of de razors and brushes. I wake up and use whatever the hell I feel like using that day..lol
Just watched. I am a wet shaver but when I travel or in weeks of laziness I use the Braun Series 7 360. I love it. For electric foil razors, the best shaves always come from against the grain shaving. This is a bit counter intuitive for most of us wet shavers but an against the grain foil shave with a Braun Series 7 is about the closest you’ll get. Thanks for the great vids.
Nice Ken. I enjoy seeing all types of razors from straights to electric and carts.
Thank you Steve👍💈
I bought a Series 7 about 4 years ago and it has been fantastic! I use it when pressed for time and to cleanup around some areas of my face that a DE razor can’t get to safely (moles). Good video!
Awesome Chris👍💈
Great video. Im switching to electic cuz Im a senior with poor sight. The series 9 is way too expensive so def looking at series 7. Thanks for helping to ease my mind in making the right choice.
I'm impressed! Looks like it could come in handy for when you just need a quick skim!
Exactly
Interesting shave Ken, I’m 18 & just got a safety razor and have been very satisfied with the results, wet shaving is something that I’ve researched and have recently started, it’s cool to see it become popular again.
Thank you Grayson👍👍
I looked at the website and checked the page showing how to buy. For prices like that and most likely corresponding quality, no doubt this razor gave you an excellent shave.
I bought mine off eBay 👍💈
Great shave. I used to use an electric shaver, which was made by Wahl. It got the job done, but I always wanted to get into DE shaving. Once I got into it, I gave the Wahl shaver to my little brother, who uses it now on himself sometimes and also to do touch-ups when he gives my older brother’s friend a haircut. Have a good one!
Thank you💈💈👍
I appreciate your perspective on the Braun series 7, Ken. I've used electric razors for years and only started DE shaving about 5 years ago, and really only have time to DE shave on the weekends. I have a Norelco that's about 15 years old, the battery still works and I've replaced the heads twice, but it shaves pretty well. The only foil shaver I've used was a Remington, and it was so loud it hurt my ears. Technology is improving and while an electric will not provide as close of a shave, it's hard to argue with a 3-5 minute shave every time w/ no aftershave or prep necessary, unless you want to.
👍👍
Myrsol Pre-Electric Shave followed by a light balm recommended, as quite often, an electric shave can leave the skin rather dry soon after the shave. That Braun certainly looks very old new stock. Nice job Ken👍🏻
Thank you. I will look into the pre-electric shave.
I love mine and travel with it all over the world, it’s fast, quick, clean and I don’t break out love it ❤
I use the series nine on my head. It’s like a single pass with a blade. Great stuff.
Lisa Interesting unboxing. The Braun Series electric razor is ideal for travelling.😎Enjoy the birthday party 🎂🥂🍸🍹
Thank you Lisa👍
Hi ken Been using the braun seried 9 for a year now and love it good clean shave with no irritation. I always put coconut hair conditioner on or the ck formula pre-shave as it helps shaver glide
👍💈💈
Haven’t used an electric razor in a long time. They’re not really for me, but it’s nice to see someone reviewing them..
Thank you. This was my first electric shave in about 30 years
Thank You for the change up to an electric shaver from your wet shaving format. It was very enlightening and informative as to the new technology now available for electric shaving. The Braun Electric Shaver is worth considering. You mentioned that you will be trying out a new Rex product from Matt of Razor Emporium. I had a very disappointing and unsatisfactory response from his customer service department some months ago. I place my first order for a vintage Gillette Black Tip Razor almond with another product. When my order arrived, I received another Gillette Razor not the Black Tip I had ordered. After many attempts to contact them to rectify the mistake, I never heard back from their customer service department. Based on that experience, I will not place another order with Razor Emporium. I hope no one else has had that bad of an experience with Razor Emporium customer service.

I was a big Braun fan before moving over to traditional wet shaving. I started electric after shaving for years with a Gillette Sensor getting tired of in grown hairs. Unfortunately, I still got them with the Braun and razor burn too every so often. That’s why I started using safety razors. I miss how effortless the shave is with the Braun and it was great for shaving your head. The Braun Series 3 Pro that has the little trimmer was my go to every day. Have a great Memorial Day Weekend! 😎🤙
Thank you Johnny
Hello, Ken. I used to be a straight razor user until 2011 and that's where I switched to become an electric user shaver. Back then I have developed an infection due to the use of the blades every 3 days. To make the long story short, my dermatologist recommended for me to stop using regular shaving tools and to start considering become an electric shaver one. Nonetheless, I made the switch and even though this electric shavers (some models) offers a real close shave when used with foam or gel. It's amazing to see you using an electric shaver, now in my 12th. year using this great technology. By the way, I own the same model of Braun Series 7 you used in this video and it's fantastic. I'm not planning to go back to regular blade shaving.
Same here. got a skin infection. Dermatologist recommends lathering up with ant-bacterial soap when you wet shave. I mostly use the electric. Mine is a Series 3 braun.
What is your go to electric to use with foam or gel?
i only used the Philips round electric as a young teen then Gillette contour plus over to Mach3 i tried my friends foil it did take some of the beard i missed with the round. today i use whatever DE, multiblade round head Philips Braun foil depend on my mood. great shave and video stay safe....cheers...Peter
Thank you Peter👍💈💈
I use a series 9 , with shave soap (usually arko stick) , love it
Thank you for sharing videos about pinball, knives, Hawaii and so on apart from the core wich obviously is DE shaving. Nice to see that the electric razor has evolved the last 40+ years, even though I will still stick to DE razors no matter what.
Very good 👍👍
Hi ken was surprised to find you when I searched for Braun series 7 reviews, seen many of your DE reviews , I have ordered one it’s on its way, a classic shaver in the Eletric shaving community and according to the reviews of the new Braun series 7 it is nowhere near as good as this one you reviewed, they will become harder to get as time goes by. Thanks for posting ATB👍
Thank you very much. I was very very surprised at the quality and smooth shave I got with the Series 7.
Great review Ken. While an ardent wet shaver, I still have the mobile version of Braun M60. Pretty handy to have... Do check out the mobile series of Braun (if they still make it) - small electric razor, excellent for travels.
👍💈💈
I’ve used nothing but the Braun electric razors for over 50 years. I’ve had the Series 7 razor for eight years. I’m purchasing a replacement head as we speak. I love my Braun Series 7
Great review, Ken. I challenge you to use a Panasonic Arc 5 according to your wet shaving ritual. The Panasonic devices are known for giving a closer shave than the devices from Braun. I have them both at home and with the Panasonic you can achieve really great results. Greetings from Belgium.
Thank you very much Michel👍
I remember those old Norelco three blade ones from the '70's...the Christmas commercials with Santa riding on one through the snow. LOL. Those were a pain to clean back then: where you had to pull the blades out of those aluminium rings to brush the stubble. Yeah, they always heated up, too. Never a BBS! Nostalgia, but I don't miss it. Wet shaving is the best!

👍💈💈💈💈
Had a Panasonic electric razor that was the bomb, twin foil head, small form factor, no mess, no fuss just good shaves. Norelco triple was a distant second, not nearly as good and was a pain to clean those tiny rotary blades. Phillip's made one also but I didn't use it, my dad had it. Of course that was back in Fred Flintstone's day, I'm certain tech has advanced in electric razors as this one self cleans...nice. I'll stick with the "wet" system though, just doesn't get any better. Great video Ken🪒💈, thanks.
I remember having to clean and put a small drop of oil on the rotary blades
I’ve been using my braun all week and man, it makes life so easy. Super smooth skin! Really makes me wonder…..lol
👍💈💈💈💈
Interesting video Ken. I use a very cheap £10 electric razor, also a Braun, only when I've missed a bit and have cleaned and put away my DE razor, usually for under my nose. Mine is not as fancy as yours and it leaves my skin dry and abraded, so I always use some shave Balm if I have to reach for the electric.
I’m going to order some myself👍👍
Was not used to you using an electric razor lol. Nice looking one though. But youve got me so hooked on wet shaving, i dont think ill go any other way again. Have a good Memorial wknd
I agree. I got so many requests that I figured I better try one👍💈💈
Great video Ken, made me smile. I bought this same model for my 50th several years ago and absolutely love it. solid build, great features and battery life. Cheers from Australia, Rick
I remember when I first started shaving I used an electric razor. Williams Lectric Shave (pre-shave) was always my personal preference before the shave and Gillette aftershave lotion for after....I can smell the nostalgia lol.
Lol.👍💈💈💈
Pretty cool shave, Ken! I haven't use one of those in a very long time. Love Sauvage!❤ Thanks for doing the video. Have a good weekend and Memorial Day. Stay safe!💈👊😎
Thank you👍💈
The best way to get a good shave with an electric is right after the shower use some pre electric shave, let it dry and then shave. You can also put a little powder on your face to make it glide. I also have the 7 series, works great.
Awesome. Thank you👍💈
Now I have to go watch the old commercial of Santa riding the Norelco down the hill... Ahh memories.
👍💈💈
That's a classic
I use the old fashioned fold out razor because of my beard and the cartridges clogged up too much, I might just have to try one of those again and I got the same result with the pulling, etc. I shave my beard off the other day and I was a bloody mess because my neck has more of a turkey look to it these days so I have to give one of those a try!
Hey Ken, Braun series 7 is the best model by far. I’ve had it for 10 years and it’s still going strong. Now I use it to shave by head and it shaves it clean
Really? I was going to get the series 9, but reviews for the series 7 seem much better
That’s what i want to use for my head. Does it make you razor smooth
What did you get? I use a Series 8 for head and it does a good job especially with shaving cream. I tried out a Series 9 and that moves faster for bald heads. Takes more work with the 8 than the 9. @@mervyn2316
I use my braun series 9 with nivea men shave cream from a tube just a thin lather with my hands. Now I get no ingrown hairs or irritation on my neck. Very very close shave. Took me a bit to find what works for me but this seems to be best for my skin and I've tried most things.
Awesome👍💈💈
Have to say this video has me wanting to get an electric razor. I do enjoy the whole ritual of traditional wet shaving but, at times, I wish there was a faster way to shave well. The Brauns are expensive but no more than what I've paid for some of my de razors.
👍👍👍👍
I am looking into get an electric razor to shave my bald head. Shaving with a razor is too much work and tired of cutting myself. I'll have to look into this. Thanks Ken!!
Thanks for watching
Shaving with a razor on my head gives me less irritation than an electric razor
Nice Ken 😀😊🔥🔥🔥
Thank you
Hi, Can you tell me what is the + and - sign on the razer what is it used for?. Thanks.
Can you shave over lips without cutting them? Never used electric, but this is a problem with blades. Thx.
I have never used a Braun but I do have a Norelco that I use occasionally for both head and face shaving. I feel like I get a better result if I use Williams Lectric Shave as a pre shave. I think it is an oil in an alcohol base.
👍💈💈💈
I have the 7 790cc and I just got the Braun series 9 pro 6477 and I'm sending it back! it shaves my bald head perfectly but totally ripped my face apart and couldn't even get close to a close shave and this is 2nd 9 series I had! the 790cc might take a few extra passes but great close cut! stick with the older models!
Awesome.
My father used an electric shaver so that's what I started out with. Preferred foil shaves but could never get a close shave and had lots of burn and irritation, especially on my neck. Thought the old Panasonic wet/dry shaver would solve it - it was better but always had to go back over my face with a cartridge razor. Braun used to be kind of top of the line for electric shavers so am tempted to see if I may get better results now from the Braun.
👍👍💈
Pannies are really good, but you almost have to shave daily or no more than 2 days. Very restrictive if you ask me.
Hi Ken awsome shave I have sensitive skin electric shavers burn my neck
I used to get the worst razor burn ever on my neck using a rotary electric razor. On the rare occasion I use an electric shaver I use my Panasonic. I always use Afta pre electric shave lotion and shave before a shower. It’s the opposite of DE shaving. It’s not as close as the DE but gets the job done. The Braun looks good but the consumables and replacement heads and foils etc would be costly
Have you tried Williams Lectric Shave before using an electric razor? Works pretty good. Like your channel. Very enjoyable. Thank you.
I’ll have to try that pre shave. Thank you 👍💈
Thank you very much for watching and taking time to comment👍💈💈💈💈
Hi Ken, I’ve used electric razors for years and always going against the grain gives the best result for me. Great channel.
Thank you very much Alan👍💈💈💈
I’ll have to try that next time I electric shave. I concur, great channel
Manufacturers usually do not add oil to lubricate the blades. When it is used, the blades stay sharp longer :)
👍👍👍
Very nice shave Ken! I am glad the Braun Series 7 worked for you. However, in all fairness, you don't have a tough beard. Electric razors do not perform well for me. It's OK because I use every style of razor, except carts and get awesome shaves. Have a safe Memorial Day weekend.
"Electric razord do not perform well for me." J T, beware of _cheap_ electric razors.
He definitely doesn’t have a tough beard. I do. Braun and Remington work fantastically you just have to apply pressure and go slow, he was going pretty quick in this video. I have an extremely dense beard and this razor would give me baby smooth shave. Also important to have your whiskers trimmed down as short as you can before using electric razor. With de safety length doesn’t matter, electric razors work best when your whiskers are short as can be. No more than 24 hour growth. If you’re shaving for first time in a while trim with no guard before electric razor. Just my .02$ Been shaving my head and face for 20 years and I too use all types of shavers
@@divad44 I am glad electric razors work for you. I will stick with my my traditional straight, DE, SE and shavette razors.
You are right. I can’t grow a nice thick beard😖
I had a 7 for years, the 9 is well worth it, much closer shave... I mean not DE close but the 9 is a great electric.
Unfortunately never had a close shave with a razor of this type🤔🤔🤔
💈💈👍👍👍
Hi Ken🙂 I have the same razor. I haven't used it in a very long time lol. My opinion based on my experience is that these are great in a pinch when you don't have the time for a full wet shave but will never give you as close a shave as a DE/SE/Shavette/Straight razor.
Absolutely 👍💈💈
I’m actually so surprised you used an electric razor LOL 😂 I was like wait Ken really hold on let me look out the window are pigs flying lol 🐷 great video by the way
The many requests finally got to me..lol
Looks like you have your own bathroom! Do you do a lot of shaver reviews and that's your studio? I see a couple.
I had a Braun wet/dry foil electric back in the 90’s and could never get a decent shave with it either wet or dry. Maybe they have improved since then. I have a Norelco that I really only use if I notice after my DE shave I missed a spot or have a 5’oclock shadow I want to get rid of, or just plain in a hurry.
I have a Norelco that I only use for the exact same purpose lol. I have a mole that I go over with the electric razor so I don’t cut it with a DE blade
@@davidleonard1278 I have a couple moles as well and shave over them for years with no problem. Cut my self plenty of other spots though lol. But yours could be different and whatever works for you is great.
👍💈💈💈
It would be good to know if lectric shave helps get a better shave. I see lectric shave on the grocery store shelves.
Like you all I ever used was the Norelco Rotary head. It would give me what I thought was a good shave, and then about an hour later I would break out in what can only be called a rash where I had used it.
Lol👍👍💈💈 it used to friction burn me
Could you do a shave with the Rockwell 6C or 6S, Rockwell, Astra, or Gillette blades, and Proraso Products?
I love my Rockwell 6S. I’ve done quite a few videos with it. Here is a link to one. kzhead.info/sun/equundSjgGhnhY0/bejne.html
Hello everybody! Kensurf is here! Great shave, great day, great job, great weekend relax with your family. Let's Dudes!
Thank you👍💈
@@kensurfs Me too thanks again Man
Electric shavers are great. I’ve never like the Norelco style 3 pivot heads they just didn’t do the job for me. But Braun and Remington both make fantastic foil shavers. I go against the grain with electric foil shavers and get the closest shave of my life. But, I just love wet shaving too much haha so I stick with my DE safety razors on the daily. Haven’t used electric in about 10+ years. Curious, I only go WTG and XTG with wet shaving, if I go against he grain I get nasty razor burn. But with electric I can go against the grain all day long and get zero burn. Probably just the technology of the foil but it’s great if you desire a quick super close shave. I personally shave every day so closeness isn’t my top priority. Enjoyment is ;) Great video Ken
Thank you very much👍💈
Looking good ken ??. Braun 5 7 works great ?..
The series 7 really impressed me👍💈
I could never get a close shave with an electric shaver. Since the mid 80s I have tried a few different Remingtons , a few different norelcos and a few different Brauns. I gave up on electric shavers about 10 years ago because I could never get a close shave and got a lot of irritation. Recently I've been thinking about trying electric shavers again. I've been watching a enormous amount of review videos on KZhead and reading quite a lot of reviews and most reviews claim that the Panasonic Arc 5 es-lv95 and 97 shave closer than any Braun and as close if not closer than any cartridge or DE blade plus Panasonic is cheaper than Braun. Maybe you could do a comparison video between the Braun series 7 and either the Panasonic Arc 5 es-lv95 or 97.
I will look into that👍💈
Did you notice any shaved hairs on your shirt. The last time I had a Braun I was covered as they dropped out of the shaving head.
I didn’t see any.
As I saw the Norelco razor I thought 'hey, that's what my Philips shaver looked like' . Now I know why. Norelco was Philips brand name on the north american market. 😉
👍👍💈💈
Tried it and the 9, they were perfect on my face but for some reason could not get any hairs on my neck! Every angle and all sorts.of pressure. Lol
👍👍💈👍
I'm surprised you weren't chewed up on the lower neck area. Either your skin is more tolerant of the electric and/or it speaks the the quality of the Braun. My neck skin has an acclamation period and it initially got pretty badly torn up. However, it wasn't a high quality one like that Braun.
👍👍👍💈💈
Not sure why but electric razors just make my face and neck break out like crazy
They used to burn my skin👍💈
Same here
I dont blame 4 holding to that stuff nostalga plus the great memories

A braun razor was my first electric razor,, back in 1985,,for best results, use LIGHT pressure for a first pas,, using cirkular motions,,after that you can do a second pas with more pressure,,,,for at even smother shave , use some soap for the last pas, because of the soap,(nice thin,, allmost runny) you can now ad even more pressure ,, something that would end up bloddy, if using a blade,, but this can in MY case get the best shave for the stubles under my chin,,,and under my nose ,,,if i have to do my best shave,,its(from a 14 days beard) a trimmer, a de razor,(weet) and then a braun razor ,,WITH soap,,,, the stubles ends CAN be pressed out of the skin ,,, just run your fingers over the freshly shaved WEET skin, and then again using pressure, you now feel what the foil of the razor casn reach,,,but be warned TO much pressure, and the electric razor will bite you,,,as everything,,, it has a learning kurve ,,,,you was happy with the first use,,,you will be even more if using it more ,,,,,,by the way, old rechargeble braun razors, kan often still run on the cord,,just like it was a non rechargeble even the batteri is dead
I'm sorry, what did you say? I couldn't hear a word over your shirt. 🤣 I actually use an electric shaver, but not on my face. I use it for head shaves. It gets ~almost~ everything BBS, but jot quite. There are always a few little skritchy spots that you can't see, but you can feel if you run your hands across the scalp. It's not perfect, but the plus side is no cuts, nicks, or irritation.
Lol. That’s my swim shirt when I’m too lazy to put on the sunscreen. Put a lot of use on it in Hawaii👍💈💈
Hi , I don't intend to stay away from wet shave and traditional razors ! but I know some use such a tool, so why not put a (baby body powder) like (Johnson) before starting, this helps it pass easily without irritating your skin.
👍💈💈💈
There awesome if you travel alot I love my bruan 7.

Funny. A lot of people seem to be shocked if they hear that I did spend 250 euro's on a safety razor (Rex Ambassador).. But I tell them that in the past I bought a Philips electric razor that cost about the same. The charger was worned out after 2 years and the razor did not fit properly anymore. So after putting it in the charger, I had to wrap a rubber band around it to keep it in place, or else it would not charge. Soom after, the plastic that was covering the on/off button started to crack. So all in all, I retired the electric razor after about 3 years. The safety razor will last me for the rest of my life.
I’m anxiously waiting to try the new Rex Konsul
@@kensurfs I hear a lot of praise about the Rex Konsul. Although I did not try one myself. As for the Ambassador. I have one since a few weeks now. And I just love it.
I love my Braun Series 6, I agree that these foil heads beat the rotaries by a mile with the closeness of the shaves. I’ve developed a morning wake up routine around my Braun Shaver. 5 minute Ice Cold Shower, Shave, Some Skin Bracer or other mentholated after shave to lock in that cool feeling and I’m out the door in under 15 minutes. Nice Review! Happy Shaving.
But gshocks are my favorite i got 2 ones analog and digital and its also my favorite color blue bonus it a solar
Gshocks are awesome.
I have the Casio 5610 solar one that charges it's battery in the sunlight and it adjusts itself using automatic time zone receivers worldwide. Smart watch for it's time!
Go with Panasonic arc 5 please
I’ll look into that. Many commenters mention that razor as excellent
I have a Braun in my den. It gives great shaves. I use it from time to time. it's just not as fulfilling as wet shaving.
