  • Animals is stupidly underrated. Shame they never officially recorded one of the shows from 77 because holy FUCK what a setlist they had.

She said a jet airplane flew kind of low over the stadium and as everyone was watching it fade into the distance out comes the Boys onto the stage and everyone turned back around from watching the jet to hearing glorious epic Floyd. If there's a heaven i want to experience all of these shows for eternity.

    • I'm 54yrs old now born in 1969 and 1st got into Floyd whilst at school 1st year of High School when the The Wall was released.! Me and my mates used to listen to the album every night after school smoking weed, giggling and laughing are tits off.! That got me started in becoming a Pink Floyd fanatic 😵‍💫 I was lucky enough to see Floyd 1st time at Earls Court in October 1994 Pulse Tour.!! Took a 100 magic mushrooms 🍄 in the car on the way down from Liverpool, we got lost and were zigzagging across London trying to find Earls Court, eventually whilst the driver and the four of us in the car were getting stressed thinking we were never going to find Earls Court in London and the concert was starting in half hour anyways I was in the back seat tripping my head off when I looked outta the window and saw Pink Floyd in green writing in the sky.! Coz I was really tripping big time I thought I was hallucinating the writing in the sky, so for 10mins I kept quite as I didn't wanna look like a dickhead hallucinating writing in the sky making myself look like a dick to my mates.! Anyways eventually I plucked up the courage and told a couple of my mates that I'm hallucinating writing of Pink Floyd in the sky..!! So my mates looked up to were I was imaging Pink Floyd in the sky and then 1 of my mates said you f**n idiot that's lazers coming from the roof of Earls Court saying Pink Floyd, the band had done this so concert goers would be able to find Earls Court in the middle of London so you could find the Stadium..!! My mates went apeshit towards me as I'd been staring at the Pink Floyd writing for over 15/20mins without saying anything to my mates as I thought I was hallucinating and didn't wanna look like a wierdo hallucinating something that isn't there just in my own head..!! 🤪🤪🤪 It was the Greatest Concert I'd ever seen + the band played nearly 3hours cos it was the rearranged concert from the weak before when all the temporary seating collapsed.! Animals is my favourite Floyd album ever and I was lucky enough to go to Roger's last 2 tours in Birmingham 2018 'This Is Not A Drill Tour' and was overjoyed when the band came out for the beginning of Set2 playing Dogs (Battersea Power Station rising up from the ground 200feet in the air from the front of the stage to the back of the Stadium and 200feet long from stage to the back of the Stadium, absolutely mind-blowing + I'd had a couple of Mollys and then after "Dogs" the band and Roger played "Pigs (3 Different Ones)"..!! And went to Roger's last Tour in Birmingham "Is This The Life We Really Want" Tour 2023...And was beyond my wildest dreams as the band and Roger played "Sheep", so I can die happy as I've seen virtually the whole album Animals played live except "Pigs on the Wing (Parts 1+2)... 🐕🐖🐑

      @vincentwierda5473@vincentwierda54734 жыл бұрын
    • Vincent Wierda That raw energy is what made the 77 tour their best since 1972. 73-75 they just sound bored. In 1977 they were revitalized and brought it. This is best exemplified by Nick’s drums being the best and liveliest he had played for many years.

Then i watched for the russien guitarist's review on that. It is not as simple as it seems. David plays so clean, that it's music you hear. Thats the reason!

The fast solos during the verses in Dogs are very untypical Gilmour kinda too fast for him actually, but fit the song nicely and he never played anything quite like it ever again. The whole Animals sound on the tour especially is much more aggressive than Gilmour usually sounds, fairtly fascinating to me.

    • It's funny you should say that. I was there at that concert in 77 and the only thing I remember about the concert (I was on acid BTW) is that the drumming was otherworldly. I don't know why that is the thing that stands out in my mind, but it is. Mason's timing was so impeccable and right on, the band was so tight to his drumming, that's all I remember. It might have been that I had recently decided that drumming was going to be my instrument of choice. I sang, played guitar, and drums. But I only had real talent on the drums. • One of the most beautiful solos David Gilmour has played in his career is in this piece. Although Roger Waters gave the song a lot of justice in his solo career, it is a sad point that David did not give the same value. I wish we could listen to Dogs on David's guitar. I think this will always remain a regret in my mind. In my opinion, the best live performance of the song is this concert where David plays an incredible solo.

Only major downer is that they never filmed the tour 'In The Flesh Tour 1977'....I'm sure somewhere their is a video of one of the concerts apart from the odd bootleg we've all seen, so fingers crossed it gets released though with Gilmour never playing any Animals tracks live l think to spite Roger to get 1 over on him in their pathetic fued..But we can live in hope 🙏🤞🐖🐑🐕

This verse could mean anything from loosing all you got, death, cold blood hardening to take you into your death, have a good death from or remembering your entire life and hope its a good one. It's a creepy! I'm 54 and I can hear the lyrics in my own life, I did not have a good growing up and screwed up a lot, I sowed many ugly things and to this day its not gone away. Yeah, I also wanted to try and have a good life in Mexico, alone! Iv'e been alone my whole life and now seeing physical ailments increase I think about paces in Mexico. • You got to be crazy, gotta have a real need Gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street You got to be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight You got to strike when the moment is right without thinking. And after a while, you can work on points for style Like the club tie, and the firm handshake A certain look in the eye, and an easy smile You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to So that when they turn their backs on you You'll get the chance to put the knife in. You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you get older Yeah, and in the end you'll pack up, fly down south Hide your head in the sand Just another sad old man All alone and dying of cancer. And when you lose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone Dragged down by the stone. I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze? Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner And everything's done under the sun And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer. Who was born in a house full of pain Who was trained not to spit in the fan Who was told what to do by the man Who was broken by trained personnel Who was fitted with collar and chain Who was given a pat on the back Who was breaking away from the pack Who was only a stranger at home Who was ground down in the end Who was found dead on the phone Who was dragged down by the stone.
