Cafetaria aan de Tilburgseweg te Goirle volledig in brand. Goirle 1-04-2020
Aankomst brandweer en politie.
Het gehele cafetaria, Kwalitaria Tra, aan de Tilburgseweg te Goirle werd door de brand verwoest. Dit cafetaria bestond al 70 jaar.
Er werd snel opgeschaald door de brandweer naar Zeer Grote Brand.
Vanwege de grote rookontwikkeling werd een NL-alert verzonden in de omgeving om ramen en deuren dicht te houden.
Na ongeveer 2 uur blussen kon men het sein Brand Meester geven. Het nablussen duurde nog uren.
De volgende ochtend moest met met trio 1 terugkeren omdat het vuur oplaaide.

Sometimes, when it's not yet clear where the fire exactly is or if you can reach that place well with the first truck on-scene, it can be better to get a good idea about the environment and situation. Just throwing water on something can worsen the situation if not careful, especially since it's an older building that probably has a partially wooden frame and probably wooden floors.
Vind wel dat de brandweer erg traag is, het duurde wel erg lang voordat er eindelijk werd geblust.
Ik denk dat die eerste TS meteen beseft dat ze het pand niet gaan redden en eerst een paar extra minuten pakt om goed te schouwen en te plannen.
Not a very aggressive fire attack when arrived, a lot of communicating, and bad parking. Fire already spread from the main building to the front within 10 minutes. No one went to set up at the main fire building.
Wat is de toedracht van de brand
This is an old video now. These old Dutch houses have huge amounts of wood inside, especially the floors and the staircases, layers of paint and grease from the restaurant make a good combination for dangerous combustion. Why they didn't open up the roof to ventilate is something I wonder about and i'm NOT a fireman.

First impression- that building looked like a death trap of hallways and rooms on different floors. For as much fire appearing in the back I would not have sent anyone in there. I’m for aggressive attack but that just looked ominous
At 5:48 you can see an interior crew entering the building and pulling back right away, taking some things with them (i gues keys or something?). Must have been very hot inside since at 6:34 fire is already coming through the windows.

Ik dacht dat brandbestrijding er om ging om altijd zo snel mogelijk water op de vlammen te hebben. Maar ik zie heel wat anders. Maar ik ben dan ook geen brandweerman :) Dit lijkt een beetje op de filmpjes uit de USA.

Ik vermoed dat de verhuur op de 2e etage niet is doorgegaan. Duurde inderdaad zoals velen zeggen wel heel lang voordat er met het blussen begonnen werd. Maar zal wel reden voor zijn geweest.
Ich bin zwar kein Fachmann,aber das nach dem Eintreffen der ersten Feuerwehr ,es so lange dauert,bis der erste Löschangriff vorgenommen wird,ist schon etwas bedenklich.Im Beisein der Feuerwehr entwickelte sich es ja zu einem Vollbrand.Wenn es mein Gebäude sein würde,hätte ich mir jedenfalls eine etwas schneller reagierende Fw gewünscht.
Es ist ungewöhnlich für die niederländische Feuerwehr. Da gebe ich völlig Recht. An sich agieren sie deutlich schneller. Als ich vor vielen Jahren in de Bilt war, haben sie ihre Taktik und das direkte Vorgehen erklärt und gezeigt. Das war definitiv ganz anders, als es hier zu sehen ist. Gerade im Innenangriff, sind die Niederländer sehr schnell. Ich bin selber Feuerwehrmann und überrascht, über diese langsamen Reaktionszeiten.
Welke eenheden werden er in gezet en dan bedoel ik met HW en TS? En hoeveel
Hoi Mees, er werden 4 TS'sen ingezet, 2 HW's; 1 SB, OVd en H-OVD en de nodige ondersteuning zoals het droge team en de verzorgingshaakarmbak. Beantwoord dit je vraag voldoende?

Ze hebben natuurlijk even gewacht tot de friet gaar was.... Nee ff serieus altijd triest zo'n brand, en de boven verdieping was net verhuurd, het bord hangt nog op het raam. :-( Goed werk brandweer en eigenaren en bewoners veel sterkte gewenst in deze rare tijden

Die rook lijkt denk ik geel door de stand van de zon en een camera die het kwa witbalans waarschijnlijk even niet meer weet. Verder is er vast genoeg kunststof om rare kleuren rook te veroorzaken. Heb zelf ooit groene vlammen gezien: dan sta je ook wel even raar te kijken...

Prachtige video ! Mijn complimenten voor alle brandweerlieden die deze zeer heftige brand tot de kiem smoren. Goed werk verricht !!!
Ik ken iemand die overleed toen hij 80 was en volgens jouw beredenering was hij in de kiem gesmoord....... Het duurde zo lang voor er eenmaal water was, dat ik me afvraag waarom er niet een tankwagen met water in de blusprocedure is opgenomen, zodat er direct met blussen kan worden begonnen en daarna overnemen via de brandkranen. Volgens mij komt dan die kiem dichterbij gesmoord te worden.

Op waterwinning, eventuele brandkranen daar waren niet in kaart gebracht
Je gaat toch niet als een blinde aanvallen. De veiligheid van de brandweermannen staat ook voorop.

By the way: there is no city with the name of Halverstrom in the Netherlands, and I have seen hundreds of fires and never saw bricks falling from a wall. I wanted to see what the firemen where doing to put it out - not one shot of the fire itself after another. Back was blazing - how come so slow to get water back there? how did the fire suddenly appear on the first floor front? And how come so long to get the ladder truck up and working - it was first to arrive and the fire could clearly be seen in the attic? And no final shot of the building.....very poor video
They seem very slow with the water, was there a problem with the water or just poor management of the situation?
I think they first just needed to make a plan or somthing to control the situation
@Mr.M My fire departments put water on the fire within 30s of getting there. The wouldn't dream of allowing a fire to extend like that into a compartment that was easy to protect. There was no actual firefighting for a large part of that video, poor response.

@@meesvanhees9951 Ik denk dat ze, gezien de rookontwikkeling op meerdere plekken in dit toch wel vrij grote pand al vrij snel doorhadden dat de zaak binnenin toch als verloren diende te worden beschouwd en dus een heroïsche aanval weinig zin zou hebben. Dus wachten op versterking in de vorm van 2e TS, HW en wellicht WTS. Typisch Nederlandse aanpak: Geen energie verspillen aan iets wat toch al verloren is. Kunnen de amerikanen nog wel wat van leren, daar rent iedereen een beetje door elkaar heen zonder dat iemand het overzicht lijkt te hebben.
@Mr.M Ze hadden direct kunnen beginnen met HD, dan was waarschijnlijk de cafetaria nog te redden, ook omdat er een tweede TS vlug ter plaatste was hadden die ook een verkenning kunnen uitvoeren. De eerste TS stond ook verkeerd, eerst te vroeg en toen er te dichtbij en dat kost allemaal belangrijke tijd als beroeps brandweerman in Rotterdam met zeer veel oudbouw beginnen wij ALTIJD met HD en om daarna aan te vullen met LD, dit waren zeer duidelijk helaas geen professionele brandweer lui.

Bob Vidoni , most fire hydrants in Holland are old and have small pipes a 50 mm main pipe in some areas is not unheard off. So depending on the water supply hand lines is the only thing they can use until better water supplies get established.
Major fire destroys cafeteria in Goirle 04/01/2020 A major fire destroyed the Kwalitaria Tra cafeteria in Goirle on Wednesday evening. An adjacent building suffered smoke and water damage. The fire broke out around six o'clock in the cafeteria on Tilburgseweg. The fire spread quickly. This was accompanied by considerable smoke development. Due to the smoke, a NL Alert was sent in the area of Tilburgseweg. “Close windows and doors and turn off ventilation,” the warning read. The fire brigade was present with a number of tankers and an aerial platform. The fire brigade's efforts were mainly aimed at limiting the damage to the adjacent building. That building did sustain smoke and water damage. There is little left of the cafeteria. (that fire brigade obviously needs a lot more training, look at how slow they are to start fighting the fire)
If you want to see slow you should watch American Fire Crews on arrival at scene. First... They all grab a wrecking bar, no-one touches a hose. Next.... They hold a meeting to see who is going to get the donuts. Third... They dump a hose pack of about 1/4 mile of hose on the ground for everyone to trip over, and, leave it uncharged. Fourth. They go back to the truck to put on BA sets. If you don't believe me there's lots of examples on-line, take a look. Americans make these guys look fast.

For such a big fire they scale up to low pressure hose. High pressure isnt going to do anything.

@@iDonkeeey Familie van mij is beroepsbrandweer en in de vs geweest. De brandweer loopt 40 achter met de onze, en ze willen niets aannemen wat niet uit de vs komt. De reden is simpel: opvoeding. Moet je eens zien hoe kinderen daar groot worden gebracht met al dat gezweer bij hun vlag en een obsessie voor alles wat groot is en verslaafd aan wapens. Ze zijn ook arrogant. Die bevrijdingsapparatuur (die hydraulische scharen) worden door hun Jaws of Live genoemd en hebben hun uitgevonden ergens rond 2005. Hier in Nederland waren die dingen er al in 1980... Ze vinden onze brandweer maar zielig en slecht omdat wij kleine brandweerwagens hebben en dunne slangen, dat kan nooit goed gaan...... En ik maak geen grapje. Amerika is met hun 250 jarig bestaan een land in de pubertijd en dat kan je heel goed zien, ze gedragen zich als jongetjes van 13, 14 jaar. Kijk maar eens naar de comments van bijvoorbeeld deze video, je vist de alles wetende jochies van 13, 14 er zo tussenuit. Zie naar wat er nu gebeurd op de wereld, het virus. Op de hele wereld kopen mensen voedsel in zodat ze zo weinig mogelijk naar buiten hoeven, in Amerika hamsteren ze wapens..... En o wee als je er wat van zegt.
De brandweer in Amerika is ronduit slecht. Ze gebruike lompe grote en inefficiënte wagens mat slecht blusmateriaal. Ook zijn ze laat met bijvoorbeeld automatische watrrkanonnen die nu 6 jaar in gebruik zijn in de VS en in Nederland bij de vuurwerkramp al gebruikt zijn.

The older buildings that tend to be made with more wood than concrete tend to be more prone to fast destruction by fire. In Amsterdam, and in my city (close to Amsterdam) and some other big cities that have a historical city centre, a fire report will immediately cause the total amount of crews to be scaled up because of the sensitive nature of most buildings in those areas (and lessons learned from earlier fires that caused a LOT of destruction because situational awareness was either bad or didn't cause for a call for much more extra equipment in time).

I've never seen this kind of response from a Dutch fire station before. That ladder was from another city and had a flow of water on the building before the other guys even seemed to know what their plan was.

@@johnnz4375 Really. Response to within 4 minutes 90% of the time and deploying a 1 3/4" attack line, breathing air and flowing water in 1:30 is the NFPA Standard. So Ok
david hoff , sad to say that I NEVER have seen a video where they got water on a fire in 1:30 , it was more like 15 min. So most FD don’t even achieve the minimum standard. And can you translate the hose size to metric as that is what the whole world uses in 2020.

Lijkt er als leek op alsof de brandweer uit Tilburg aankomt rijden en precies weten wat zij moeten doen, en dit ook snel doen. De brandweer uit Goirle lijkt bijna geen idee te hebben wat zij moeten doen nu er ECHT een brand is. Nogmaals, ik ben een leek, maar in tijden van nood hoop ik dat Tilburg sneller aanwezig is.

ten eerste, ik ben GEEN brandweer, dus ik weet ook niet de juiste manier van aanpak, maar ik ben van mening ( net als een hele hoop andere comments hier ) dat er idd veel te laat is ingegrepen. ja, het was uitslaand, maar zoals ik kon zien aan de achterkant, dat stuk is idd idd verloren, maar de voorkant had toch wel een tegenaanval kunnen krijgen, niet geprobeerd is altijd mis. ik ben gelukkig ook anders gewend, er zijn zat kleine en grote branden die wel snel en adequaat behandeld worden. en mocht het dan toch uitbereiden, hebben ze t in ieder geval geprobeerd. ondanks dat toch chapo voor de brandweer waar ook ter wereld ! ik kijk dagelijks filmpjes / lees en leer een hoop over de brandweer vak, en zou zooo graag eens een 24 uurs dienst mee willen draaien... helaas heb je hier in nederland veeeel te veel regeltjes, zelfs voor de vrijwillige brandweer is het een opsomming van dit en dit en dat en zus om erbij te mogen... mede daarom hoop ik ook snel te emigreren naar oostenrijk, daar kun je je gewoon aanmelden, en je doet mee, je leert op trainingen, en bij een uitruk ondersteun je bij wat je wel kunt. hier blijft het helaas bij alleen kijken en bestuderen... terwijl het brandweer vak mij o zo leuk lijkt... ik zou mn leven willen geven ervoor.. ( en ja ik weet de gevaren, en het is niet alleen brandjes )

@@marcmueller102 Echt jetzt? Gegensatz zu Deutschland, waren die jetzt echt Langsam. Bis das erste Wasser floß ist viel zu viel Zeit vergangen. Schau dir die Videos aus Deutschland an, in regel dauert es keine 5 Minuten bis das Wasser unterwegs ist. Hier nach 7:50 Minuten!
Da muss ich definitiv zustimmen. Viel zu langsam und dann dieses rumgeiere bei der Aufstellung der Fahrzeuge - einfach nur schrecklich. Und bevor wer anfängt - ich bin selber in der Feuerwehr und habe genug Einsatzerfahrung gesammelt!
Nunja. Ich habe nicht nach Vergleichen mit Videos deutscher Feuerwehren gefragt, sondern mich interessiert lediglich ihr fachlicher Background auf dem Sie Ihre Meinung aufbauen. An der Tastatur sind alle Menschen immer in Allem die Besten.. Ihnen die Situation, die sich den ersten Kräften der Feuerwehr bei Eintreffen darstellt, fachlich fundiert zu schildern würde hier den Rahmen sprengen. Es sei nur so viel gesagt: Die Situation war verdammt heikel.
@@marcmueller102 ich kenne solche Situationen zu genüge - auch in solch einer Komplexität. Und das läuft viel besser ab - alleine das aufstellen des ersten Fahrzeuges. Viel zu viel Zeit vertrödelt. Einfach am Gebäude vorbei fahren damit die DLK oder TMB sich dann dahinter aufstellen kann um beide Gebäudeseiten zu erreichen.

Sorry to say this as a retired F/F. But we would have had water on the ground attack within minutes. We also have DAILY fire training. Something they should try in this video.
Jim Bateman , come on your are making things up , there has never been a fire department in the U.S. that had water in minutes it takes them 10 min to get the hoses untangled. And as 90% of the fire brigades in Holland are volunteer they do weekly training. But most of them still outperform U.S. departments even the paid ones.

Wat ik niet begrijp: Waarom gaat u niet naar het dak met de draaischijfladder en verwijdert u wat dakpannen om de warmte naar buiten te laten komen ? Er was een constant gevaar voor rookgasontsteking. Het gebouw kon niet worden gered, dat is duidelijk, maar misschien zou de warmteafvoer het makkelijker hebben gemaakt om het te blussen.(Vertaald met DeepL)

LMAO. Ya, it was as if they were waiting until it entered every part of the building before they actually put water on it and then not even in the hot spot. Then they wait to open the shop door until they have the fire out. I'm not a firefighter but I Know how it works and that seemed pretty lack luster. Now if that was America, that front door would be the first thing that was opened and started with an aggressive interior attack and to search for any victims. Just saying. Although some American depts suck wind too. However, Stockton CA FD is damn good. Check them out on KZhead.
SOCIALIST DISTANCING , I this was America, the whole street would have burned down while they where still trying to sort out the hose spaghetti they just pulled of the truck , in the mean time the rest of the firefighters would smash all the windows so the fire got more air to make sure everything will burn to the ground.

@@SocialistDistancing They already asked if everybody was outside, and that was confirmed to them. The fire crew already knew that the couldn't save the building anymore. After that they ensured that it was a controlled/contained fire. They could've rushed it, but the outcome would be no different. Either the captain or the fire officer on duty would have told them to wait. If the captain says do this, in general the fire fighters will do that. Also one fire truck doesn't hold a lot of water, it varies but I believe about 3000L. Roughly 1500x more than a human being should drink on a daily basis.

Im not an expert, but I would have thought that the firefighters should have started attacking the fire at the rear of the building from the outside soon after they got there

If there are no persons reported inside and during the 360 you see that the building is already lost, then there is no need to utilize the interior attack, which is already dangerous enough. Instead, the attack from the outside and protecting the adjacent buildings is the priority.
We will take a high risk to save a life, We will take some risk to save a savable building, We will take no risk to save a life or building that is already lost. The Incident Commander made a risk assessment from information received from the owner/manager and his own 360, the plan he formulated would have been based on the risk he he saw with his eyes and what he had been told. The decision not to commit crews into the building would be that there was no life risk inside and the extent of the fire spread from the rear which the camera did not show but was obviously extensive.
Insurance job? Covid lockdown hit, old building, high bills. Now moved to a newer, smaller place nearer the town centre. Makes you wonder. This building has been demolished completely.
That looked like it took way too long to get set up and put water on the fire. Not up to the usual German standards of quick action at all.
