I feel like we’re going back in time with Wawrinka and Thiem winning again, and I like it.
talking about 29 years old thiem like he s some veteran lol
@@vladraduandrei5227 well, because he was more or less out of the winning circle after his injury... And now he seems to have recovered well... That's what's meant by "going back in time"...
Give it time. They gonna lose again 😂
O'Neill: I feel like we're going way back in time seeing Cressy stuck in his serve/volley game.
They both will lose next round no doubt, don’t count your chickens before they hatch 😂.
That Stan Wawrinka backhand will never get old.
Thiem did look like his old self today. Powerful Forehands and Backhands. Good topspin and bite on it as well. Great serving. And most of all fewer unforced errors. He does look solid. Next round may not win against Rune but would definitely wanna see him play the same kind of tennis he did today.
not even close. he did win but theres a lot still missing. often late to the ball, missing energy in his shots. these high balls you can do against gasquet but not against the young gen. at least its a win tough. still he needs to get his act together this season, this very next tournaments or its over. he already lost his ranking, he still has a few wildcards left. but comming back with futures wont go well. he already tried, didnt win a single one.
@@woswasdenni1914 agreed there is still a lot missing. But his level today was something we haven't really seen since his comeback. His power will come. But mainly he looked confident and solid which is very important. He will have a good clay season
The main thing missing this match was his depth. Still a very good sign. This was a top 20 level from Thiem imo. The first step is getting into that form consistently. Unfortunately, this is starting to feel like Andy Murray 2.0. He had some great wins last year, then regressed. I hope it doesn’t happen again, but it feels like he’ll just keep taking 2 steps forward and 2 steps back from here.
Coach changed
He will lose the next one easily, his opponent today was playing the worst possible tennis
3 of the 4 best one-handed backhands of all-time in one video.
Yeah, pretty much...who's your number four???
@@hiwayman981 1. Roger Federer 2. Stan Wawrinka 3. Dominic Thiem 4. Richard Gasquet
@@RamZar50 Guga Kuerten has a heck of a good backhand and won 3 slams on clay. Probably may have to edge out Gasquet here, in terms of results. Gasquet's got a great backhand but unfortunately it didn't win him very many big titles.
@@TurnOnTheBackburner You need more than a great one-handed backhand to win Grand Slams. - Gasquet has won 16 titles. - Kuerten won 20 titles including 3 French Open Grand Slams. - Thiem has won 17 titles including one Grand Slam. - Wawrinka has won 16 titles including 3 Grand Slams (AO, FO & USO). By virtue of titles & Grand Slams won by a one-handed backhand player, Roger Federer in a class all by himself: 103 titles including 20 Grand Slams!
@@RamZar50 Absolutely! Fed's backhand wasn't the most powerful shot, but what he was able to achieve with its versatility is what got him so far. Blocked backhand returns, chips, drives, slices, lobs, drop shots - all of it!
Holy hell that is one convincing win from Thiem. Haven't seen many of those lately. He's coming back, it seems. And what I hope for. Stan, as wine, the older, the better. His play style evolving into "I only put effort when necessary to win" is really paying off. Such a classy player, clean, smart, smooth, focused. Joy to watch.
Real test will be at RG- but I think he can make the finals, against Rafa or Novak.
I am not a fan of clay court season but I'm a fan of Domi and Stan, and I like seeing them playing well again, not to mention their cool one handed bh
Without the Nadal fixture this surface has become very boring for me. 🙄
@@notsohandytim5090 without naDal it's Dull 🤔
@@kingnole4237 Somewhat, yes. Hoping Carlos makes a quick recovery though to make it more exciting again.
Same. Fan of both and glad to see them on court in big tournaments.
Go Old school! Stan and Dom ❤🙌 hope they continue and good effort from Murray refreshing to see them in action
Stan the Man! A man with zero haters👍
Don’t underestimate the ability of a Djokovic fan to hate everyone.
@@SJ-di5zu mirka federer at some point lol
@@SJ-di5zu I have never seen one negative comment from Djoko's fans towards Stan, so you better shut up
@@milesarchery6010 cry baby!!! 👶🤣
I hate him
De Minaur has improved so much that Murray had no answer. Andy never varies his play according to the surface. He now pays the price. Matteo has been very spotty, but when he is focused, he can be explosive.
Wawrinka defeated Novak on his best fork ever, in RG 2015. This guy is on another level, and it shows on the match against Griekspoor.
Really nice to see Thiem playing well again!
Very nice....
Definitely great to see Thiem improving specially in his favorite surface ;)
Thiem looked soo good Dictating rallies Happy for thiem stan and matteo❤
If Berretini can finally stop being injured every 3 weeks, there's a high chance he can perform to his potential : Consistant top 5-10 player who can give great difficulties to the top guys. He's that good, but just never at 100% it feels :(
Not a great body type for tennis. Tennis calendar is brutal, and therefore favors more efficient builds
@@bonzwah1what’s wrong with his type
@@bonzwah1 delpo?
Not an expert here, what kind of body type is ideal for tennis? I see many varieties of body types in both male and female tennis and was really wondering how it works...
@@biigsquid Delpo is litterally the exemple that proves his point lol, the guy was always injured
Anyone else think De Minaur’s groundstrokes suddenly look better on both wings? I always thought his weird technique held him back, especially on clay.
Yes. I had the same thought. I never thought his technique was that weird except that he hits very flat, which is great on grass, OK on hard courts, not good on clay. He normally adds a bit more topspin when playing on clay but the topspin this year looks very impressive for someone who normally hits so flat.
Tough match for Murray, De Minaur is really consistent and has improved use of drop shot too! Kind of strange that Murray wasnt able to attack his serve more though.
+t 3 De Minaur is the best pusher in the world
@@eyeofhorus1301 And what does that make Murray?
@@pjmmccann a worse pusher... and he used to not be a pusher great shots
@@eyeofhorus1301 I think that's Medvedev but De Minaur is pretty damn good too
@@AGAU1022 hm I know what you mean but I'm not sure I would quite call Medvedev a pusher he hits a lot of nice winners aces aggressive shots... defensive human wall style yes but not exactly a pusher... de minaur is pure pusher
I have a huge expectation for Thiem! He’s been struggling for a bit since he comes back from the wrist injury for sure but getting in clay season and also whether it’s good or not the split with the coach could somehow make some change in how he plays. Go Thiem! Wanna see glory in his career again especially on clay 🌍
Finally. Clay court tennis. Fabolous!
Dominic Thiem 😍
@easyscore Hope not
@easyscore Even if he loses, the main objective is that he plays freely and aggressively like he did today and really rip those balls
@rafaundisputedgoat4291 of course no doubts until he retires
Cressey is special type of serve & volleyer, can't serve, can't volley.
Yeah 😂 he is just a double fault bot
lmao
Hope it’s gonna help thiem to change the coach… hope for a comeback in top 15.
Stan is still the man!
Thanks for the cerundolo vs norrie highlight.
Psst nobody gives a damn
bro lets go im so fucking hyped for the clay season for thiem i havent seen him crack that forehand like that since early 2021 and im loving it!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Berrettini definitely has the weapons to get into the top 5, he just has to figure out how to use them. Great match though.
Top 5 😂
new gf in Matteo's box and voila hes wining again...man oh man italians just cant live without love and passion
La forza della TOPA!
Good matches.
Cressy double fault master 14 today 😂
Has he been practicing with Zverev lately?
Zverev: I'll just put myself in there
@Rafa undisputed Goat 🤡🤡🤡🤡 bot
Gasquet, the player who made the cover of Tennis Magazine at 9yo and NEVER got beaten by Nadal... in the junior and never beat him after that. He totally stopped improving since his 13th anniversary.
Cressy is getting too predictable with his serve and volley. But on the other hand he needs it because his serve is literally hit or miss.
What a stupid comment
And maybe he lost, because this surface is literally the worst for his gamestyle of the whole season.
Maybe..though I remember guys like Edberg, Samprass, McEnroe, having pretty good careers, with the same "need to get to the net" game. But that said, it seems that the only ATP player that plays the serve-volley game is indeed Cressy, who, though a fine player, will unlikely see a GS final etc etc.
Yeah he's not a Pete Sampras..😮😂
@@airkuna Not like Sampras was any good on clay though.
Eso Dominik, ese es el nivel que recordaba ! 🎉❤ 🙌🏼

How could you not put Bautista v Krajinovic, hell of a match
De Minaur and Thiem completely dominates! Glad Berettini is back
It’s 1 match lol
Andy didn't show up today.
well he's just terrible on clay.
@@jay_aloc15 nah hes pretty good
His beans and toast was spoiled
Actually not quite correct. Murray got an unreturned serve on the first point and played very well on the second point (unfortunately not shown here), but de Minaur played even better on that second point and won it. That's when Murray broke down mentally & hit his first double fault. Murray hit a fair number of unforced errors from that point on but De Minaur was also playing better that he has on clay in the past.
Exactly
CLEVER Thiem: On Clay, the SPIN! Clever Clay!
Berrettini needs a long run here
Cressy was not a hard work. Cerundolo will be a real test about his conditions
Exactly
I think we will see only glimpses of Granpa Murray’s magic in the clay court season.
Al fin comienza la temporada de tenis. A jugar que sobre arcilla no se gana fácil....
Happy for Thiem
Cerundolo vs Norrie? .............
Yes Domi!!!!!
It s better for Thiem to scream out more oftens and louder in his games, I think it helps him alot to release his stress and play more risky in his games 😁
Im glad Thiem won, but people saying he played close to his peak are delusional.. Gasquet is not known for his aggressive style, but he was especially soft and weak today.. Good for the confidence I guess tho
Cerundolo vs Norrie?
Stan plays. First highlight: backhand winner. All is good.
I commented in another video that the match between Berrettini and Cressy was going to be a close match, but I was wrong. Somebody please comfort me
It's unfortunate that the second point of Murray v De Minaur is not shown here. Pretty amazing rally. Murray played great but de Minaur played even better and won it. That's when Murray broke down mentally & hit his first double fault. Murray hit a fair number of unforced errors from that point on but De Minaur was also playing better that he has on clay in the past.
berettini and cressy wearing the same color shirt and cap so I didn't know who was who lol
Cressy might as well skip the clay season if he’s just going to do serve and volley on this surface.
Starts to feel embarassing for Cressy to see him zverefying his serve&volley game...
where is the match of bautista agut vs krajinovic? wtf
Why is it so empty there? Supposed to be full
wawr 🔥
slow court + grinder opponent who gets everything... the least flattering circumstances post-injury murray could hope for
Yes, yes: much worse than being utterly annihilated by Djokovic, for example, or any one of ten other players.
De Minaur doesn't usually do that well on clay but he played great and it seems he's added more topspin.
i am a simple man, i see wawrinka, i click
10:16 is it Tomljanovic?
Thiem is back!
Lol didnt expect the old heads wawrinka and thiem to win
Thiem is not old
Thiem will be old if he turns age 30.

Thiem shots have improved, he needs to beat top players to gain more confidence in his game.
Am I the only one thinks Griekspoor's strokes are very similar to Krejcikova
lets go Thiem
Berretini is winning omg
#TeamThiem
If I was Cressy, I would just take the clay season off and prepare for Wimbledon.
I would only play Madrid and RG if I was cressy
Come on domiiiii
Norrie is better ranked than all this players and his loss against Cerundolo doesn´t appear??
Quel Talon ce Griekspoor !
Thiem is back on the right track,I think he just lack of confidence.
I think Murray will have a go at Wimbledon and then that will be it.
Yeah He should retire
A go at what? Being a ball-boy? Maybe a quick "transition" into the women's draw?
Go at what he won’t win Wimbledon or make the qtrs

We see I really like him but let’s pump the brakes
Mark my words properly Djokovic will win 3rd French open title and Rafael Nadal will win 3rd Wimbledon title in 2023 instead and create history Rafael Nadal will be oldest player to win major title

Poor Murray
All the players look really tired. They need rest before Roland Garros. I cant wait for it 👊
That’s why I didn’t mind someone not playing MC
When murray tries to win by just playing consistently and runs into another player who does the same thing but better (he loses)
Is Gasquet a sparing partner or what ? I mean, almost none of his strikes are putting the opponent in difficulty! Essentially sending the ball back over the net. How is he supposed to win with such a non agressive play 🤷??
I don't understand why stan and andy don't withdraw...
Because they love tennis
It is their choice and life they believe that they can win 1 more major title Having 4 major titles is better than 3 major titles at least
Big 3 players are the inspiration bro

He hits 2 first serves.
Serve and volley crumbles on clay.
Thiem champions

Rough watch if you're a Murray fan...
Murray tried to do his usual complaining, like the whole world was against him act, Alex bitch slapped him anyway.
Meme si je suis Suisse, je pense que Stan , Andy et Richard sont bon pour la retraite.. et Thiem n'est plus ce qu'il etait.
You cannot jus serve and volley on every single point doesn't matter how good you're at it... It should be a nice mixture ..cressy needs to be selective..

Griekspoor??? What an insulting name to people in Greece!
I remember when at one time you had Pete Sampras, Agassi,Courier, Becker, Edberg, Lendl, McEnroe all playing each one a champion each one a former number one then came Roger Federer and then there was dominance by one player and it's pretty much been the trifecta of Federer Nadal and Novak but now there is nobody to contest Novak. He thinks he's the greatest? He's fortunate to have one of the weakest draws in professional men's tennis. Carlos Alcarez is injured again,Nadal is in the Twilight of his career I don't see who can beat Novak until he retires? It's sad because he's not the greatest He was the most fortunate.
James Scott Connors is among greatest tennis player of all time in open era(1968 to 2022) He was world no 1 for 268 weeks bro Jimmy Connors and Ivan Lendl 2 most dominant players in their time both have 8 major titles each actually These 2 players more dominant than Andre Agassi though they didn't finish career grandslam.
Jimmy Connors was world no 1 for 268 weeks and Ivan lendl was world no 1 for 270 weeks and Andre Agassi was world no 1 for 101 weeks Tell me who is greatest among these 3 players. Career grandslam is more important than ranking in atp tour bro?
Novak Djokovic,Roger Federer,Pete Sampras,Ivan Lendl,Jimmy Connors and Rafael Nadal are most dominant tennis players of all time in open era (1968 to 2022). 1. Novak Djokovic=382 weeks 2.
