RAISING the ROOF! (Off-Grid, ALASKA)

It still snowing! Can you have too much of a good thing? I don't think so. Nevertheless, it won't be around much longer because next week's forecast is for temperatures between 40 and 50 degrees.
The snow needs to melt a little more before we move the small cabin out to the edge of the lake. In the meantime, we have turned our attention on the old shop. This week we made some good progress on the interior. There is a lot of work yet to do, but the we are excited about the nice space we are creating. The shop will be the hub of this project. Many things that we need will be built in there.
Thank you all so much for your wonderful support of our channel. We love and appreciate our KZhead community more than we can say.
Oh, and also, we have set up a post office box for anyone who would like to communicate with us through that method. Our address is:
This Is My Alaska
PO Box 58228
North Pole, Alaska

Have a blessed weekend - Peace

  • Love how Stella went into protective mode against the moose, it was so funny, that's the most vocal I've heard her. Another great video as well. You two really are super hard workers.

    • Good afternoon Diane. Stella has had a few run-ins with moose and they have scared her. She does not like them very much. The moose could not hear her of course, she was just grumbling to Tanya and me.

  • I would say more of a construction Guerilla than cowboy, I never know what he's trying to achieve until he's finished and then I'm amazed. What a clever old sausage! (As we say on this side of the pond).

  • I used to be able to watch these videos first thing in the morning in my cubicle. I used to be a school administrator. I am now a tile contractor and so I don’t get to watch until the evening. Total career switch. Watching these videos, in part, have encouraged me to seek more in my life. I was presented with circumstances that I had to make a change, a change I wouldn’t have had the guts to do on my own. I now love what I do, remodeling bathrooms and making spaces look nicer. Thanks for the inspiration, I’ve never done so much living. God is good.

(cordon bleu) Coincidently the only other place I've had that dish and it was spectacular was at the Turtle Club I believe in/near Fairbanks. If not at that place, somewhere else. So many years ago now I cannot quite recall where exactly it was, but was great. The cooking of the hamburgers is funny! She cooks like a fine lady in a cast iron skillet. Then he cooks his on a grate on top of the stove. 🤣🤣🤣 The difference between men and women on display right there, y'all! 🤣

  • So Many Comments, so Little Time! I loved this week's video and once I watch this one, I will spend my week waiting for the next one! Today is 5/23 for me, and you've probably made another video that I'll get to see in a few days. And, NEVER a negative word or a gripe about anything. Surely God has put you on MY KZhead to help me LOVE My Life! I used to love watching old movies from the '40s. But Alfred Hitchcock has nothing on y'all! I'll take an hour long video from Alaska any day! Thanks a LOT and Peace to y'all!! Leslie Ann Farrar

  • It is so nice to have a extenda hoe on your 580. I believe that’s the best tractor/ backhoe you can buy. I’ve put in a lot of 12” concrete pipe in with one of those back in the 80’s-90’s, great all around machine! Stella didn’t like that Moose messing with you guys! Great work guys as always

    • Mark, it’s always good to hear from you and I sure do like my tractor! It has to be one of the best for sure and honestly, I don’t know where we’d be without it but I imagine we’d still be standing out on the road wishing we could get into this property 😂. Stella does NOT like the moose taking up space in her world and she sees it as her duty to alert the entire state when she sees one. She’s a good girl so we don’t mind too much when she about gives us a heart attack with her booming bark alarm. Thanks so much for being here friend. Take care!

  • Boy that fellas comment on “like Christmas morning each time” really says it. Made me tear up.. not unusual for me anyway..... been following you for quite awhile now and have been wondering what the end goal is with both the cabin you moved to the lakeside and the shop you are refurbing. Was aghast at the trusses in the section you are strengthening!!! 5plus feet of snow and though it curved it didn’t collapse ..... 1x4’s?? Whoever built it must have been from Phoenix...... love you guys..... We’ve only been married 5 years at 70 and 80 yrs old - my wife had a stroke 2 years after we married.... she is the sweetest girl I’ve ever met. Her memories are less than 2-3 min now but she remains very sweet. We watch and enjoy your videos every week. Keep up the good work you rogue cowboys!! I lost count of how many cabins you’ve built or worked on....... a man living the dream and seem to know all the trades.... love it! Tim and Claudeen in Eureka, CA. Both of us have been to Kodak in the 70’s in the Coast Guard and out in the Pribilofs and Adak etc. Loved Alaska times.... Shalom. (Mouse droppings ARE yucky......)
