This is what I learned from watching these videos obsessively: 1. Best to spray the nest at night when they are "dormant." 2. Soapy water works great because it does not allow the wasps to breathe, but it takes about 2-5 minutes to kill them 3. You can never "out run" wasps or stinging insects 4. Wasps can re-sting as many times as they want 5. Some species will aim venom at your eyes, which means you should cover them too 6. The workers who are flying back to the nest won't usually sting you. But the "nest guards" will. 7. Even a small nest can be very dangerous in proximity to allergic people, pets or kids 8. Trying to "relocate" a wasp nest is very dangerous and is rarely justified 9. Insecticides work fine. But so does soapy water or WD40. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
5-year old video…and it’s still bringing a smile to the face of every homeowner like me who has been stung once too many times by these pests. Long live the “mass murderer” of wasps!
"Get back. The power of soap compells you!"
Sometimes, when I'm feeling down, I watch this and it makes me feel better about absolutely everything
Go see a doctor and get on medication. Swallow your false pride
There's something about it...
I started dying when the music came In 😂😂 this video is hilarious
Just the music and you saying"BACK" I died laughing I wanted you to say "BACK YOU DEMONS!!!!" 😂😂😂 idk lol
they're squeaky clean now.
Most deffinitely...lol
Hi kelly.....how r u?...
And Dead😂😂😂😂
They're clean...dead!😆😆😆
Omg lol
For anyone wondering how, bees have an exoskeleton and they breathe through their “skin” when you use a dish soap that has a degreaser, it clogs the pores on the exoskeleton essentially suffocating the bees. It works really fast
thanks for the tip man. The wasp nest on my balcony just got wiped out for good!
I was a bit shocked they were not more aggressive. Yellow Jackets can have quite the attitude even just getting close to their nest. Great video👍
They were paper wasps, Polistes Dominula, or the European Paper wasp. This species of paper wasps are not anywhere near as aggressive as yellowjackets, but they do resemble them to people who don't know about the difference.
Exactly@@yearginclarke. These Polistes Dominula are so friendly that there's even no reason to destroy them. You could walk past their nests without being harrassed by them, you could even just stand a few inches from their nest without them even being bothered. It's actually insane how people are scared of these little creatures which are very useful in decreasing the chances of you getting stung, namely by mosquitoes, which they kill and feed to their larvas. We currently have a hornets nest in our back yard and we have experienced absolutely no danger or agression.
@@NathanVeenstra Yeah as long as they aren't directly disturbed there's basically no reason for them to attack.
I thought the blowtorch sounded like fun! Great job
I came for one thing, I got another and I'm so happy. This is a gem.
You should do it at night when they're dormant.
Plus, they are all back at the nest during the night. During the day some of them are gone.
I might try it
I was thinking same about why he didn't wait till dark lol
I tend to leave wildlife alone, but a lone wasp set up shop right outside my garage door and I'm certain that would have been a problem once her offspring started to help. I pulled up with my car and cracked the window enough stick the nozzle out and sprayed her nest down with soap and water. She fled immediately and I closed the cracked window just in case. She came back a few times and I sprayed at her each time. I don't know if she's dying, but it looks like she's leaving the site alone either way. Thanks for the video. Helpful AND funny.
This was excellent . . . the sudden music at @2:45 was too good. What piece is that?
2:47 wasps: BRACE FOR IMPACT!!!!!! Spray with water: so you have chosen death Spray: kills wasps (45x combo) *FLAWLESS VICTORY!*
SMALL wasp nest? I'd like to know what you call a big one ....lol
Gail Yarbrough haha 😂 at my house probably that size and I think it is really crazy big lol
We were tearing out and old hot tub right after we bought our house and found one the size of a volleyball 😱
Nice slayer music and you're ready for the zombie invasion too!
Did not expect that music. Good stuff.
I understand napalm works well too, and you can use the same music, great choice!
The music added humor to this video! Too funny! And this solution of dish soap and water works great on killing wasps and spiders! :)
Love the music!
You know what kills bugs hairspray. That stuff kills me sometimes
Good job!
afterwards, I wouldn't waste the stop and fire up the pressure washer and blast it all into grass. For the lawnmower to chew up.
I just knocked down to wasp nest over underneath my neighbor's carport today. The only problem with that is they all came back and I think they're building another Nest there. I'll talk to my neighbor and ask if he wants me to spray some say cypermethrin maybe mixed with soapy water at least it'll stop them from coming back in that area and if they do they'll die. I will use a pump sprayer set on streem so I can stand back a good 15 feet. I am almost positive that will do the trick because obviously knocking The Nest down didn't discourage them from coming back.
"Just Nock it down with a stick and run like heck" xD Best ever!
Soarch he will die
But it is funny
My uncle did that to a hornets nest.... im not going to finish the sentence
Spray already!!
I'd be much shorter on things...and I wouldn't waste time gabbing, either! Spray 'em, & be done with it!
You make me laugh bro.
good job.
Wow ... those were pretty docile compared to the red/brown paper wasps I get around my property.
Because the polistes dominula are extremely friendly wasps and can easily live near you without you even noticing or them annoying you. They will not be looking for sugar so they won't even come near you when you're eating or drinking.
Never let the nest get to that point. Check more frequently every early-to-mid Spring.
Hindsight
@@Bryce_C. Well yeah...sort of. No time better than annually.
Okay, so do you have many mosquitoes around the house? In that case, you might rather have a wasp nest near your house because the wasps will kill the mosquitoes and will not sting if you just leave them alone.
@@NathanVeenstra Everyone with shady/moisture areas has mosquitoes, but they are primarily nocturnal when wasps are inactive. Makes no sense.
Just get a large cup and dilute dish detergent in it and throw the solution at them. Your way works, but you can't get all of them as fast
Love the music
The proof is in the pudding, and you get extra points for the bonus melodrama:)
I like to use a pump up sprayer from the hardware store. I fill it with about 2 gallons of water with about a cup or two of dish soap (dawn, ajax, or equivalent generic brand) dissolved in it. I can set it to spray in a jet and stand about 20 feet away from a nest. I just keep spraying a steady jet until they start to fall off and die. That’s all it takes. I can get a pint of dish soap at the dollar tree, and it is non-toxic. Raid, on the other hand, is about 5 to 10 bucks a can, and I have a toddler who likes to play outside. Raid is also VERY toxic to cats.
That's a great idea. Thanks for sharing.
I've got the power of soap and water on my side!
Thanks bro that shit hella worked! I’m drunk as hell and it’s 4th of July
Woah I came across this comment on the same date!😂
Love how drunk you thinks what can I do.....? I know ill watch videos about wasps 😂😂😂
I like the Requiem. Rest in peace indeed, hornets! A question though.. What kind of soap? And how much to use?
Pam cooking oil spray works much better. CONSTANT spray at nest there wings will get stuck together and they fall like rocks no pesticides done. CONSTANT SPRAY. Been doing this method for decades.
Would have liked seeing you knock down the nest itself. And the end was funny.
Great video Steve, have tried Dawn & water. It didn’t seem to work. What is the soap to water ratio?
I'm sorry. In don't remember. I just squirted some liquid detergent into a spray bottle and the added some water. Mix it up a little and then make sure it sprays out a little sudsy. You're just trying to coat their bodies so they are covered in sodium water. It suffocates them because they breathe through their exoskeleton.
Good job. Much better then using chemicals. I don't like chemicals.
All the chemicals I use. I think dish , Dawn works the best. But I don’t know how to keep them from coming back in my shed.
I must say, u r the brave one.
The one wasp that flew away… “i will have my revenge”
I didn't know why but I really enjoy when I completely destroy wasp nests.
Ok. I don’t mean to sound mean, but I swear this guy is related to Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys.
It's not mean, bubbles is a good reliable dude
And (suds)enly they where gone
Rip wasps 1888/2017
I’m in the process of destroying a nest at the moment. Bastard thing is the size of a large watermelon nd woven into the branches of a shrub so my plan to sneak up on it at night, scoop it into a bin liner and leave it on my neighbour’s doorstep ain’t going to work. Instead I’ve already blown it open with two thunderflashes (fireworks) and tomorrow I’m going to hit it with a high power hose. I’ll be firing from within the house with the window cracked open just enough. What could possibly go wrong?
Hilarious but why was I scratching lol.
They breathe through their skin, soapy water chokes them to death. Works on lots of insects. Will possibly discolor some paint, fabric, etc. I've been using it to cheaply kill ladybugs, box elder bugs, and whatever for years. It's a good cheap trick and no poisons.
WHY WOULD YOU KILL A LADYBUG?
Ladybugs are beneficial insects, bro.
The piano music at the end lol
Putting soap and water in a water is fun and safe compromise
Rest in peace lol
NICE JOB STEVE!!!!!! I LOVE U
Now you're ready to work on your deck..and you did a good deed for Humanity in the process. 😁
What kind of soap did you use?
Dish soap. Dawn (not antibacterial) is best for not disturbing good bugs and nearby plantlife as much.
What kind of soap did you use? It kind of looked like Pine-sol :-/
Betsy Brunk. I dont remember but any soap will work.
My dad got rid of a wasp nest with a spray and grabbed the wasp nest just with his hands and scared all of us
Your dad is one brave man going against mother nature
too funny, but effective.
Can diesel spray work?
Probably but it seems like it would make a mess. What the soapy water is doing is coating their bodies with sudsy water. Since they breathe through their exoskeleton, the soapy water suffocates them
But I wonder if the soapy water causes more damage to the wood than a RAID spray?
slrecordings. The soap shouldnt damage the wood. Chemicals like raid are not good for the environment. Think of all the pollution caused in the manufacturing of pesticides.
Also with soapy water, the scent is safe, unlike raid.
Rest in Bees
"small wasp nest"
What to do? Flame thrower, hand grenade, 3 megaton nuke! The nuke may be overkill.
Ammonia or Windex works great, too.
Clorox too.
Does anyone know if this method immediately keeps them from flying? I want to try it and get rid of the wasp that’s been haunting my apartment, but I’m deathly afraid of it when it flies. When it can’t fly, I’m perfectly okay with smashing it with a shoe. It’s just a matter of… getting rid of that pesky ability to fly.
Well, you may want to reconsider because: A) not every wasp is the same, the European paper wasps in this video are actually harmless and should not have been killed; B) wasps are very useful as they kill the mosquitoes that are 1000% more likely to actually sting you than any wasp is. People should definitely be better informed about nature, and wasps in particular. See I don't blame the hornet that stung me last month as she did not attack me, but was probably frightened because she somehow ended up under my shirt. Also, even though the sting caused some pain for a few hours (we're not sissies, are we?), it didn't itch all day for several days like mosquito stings do. Don't kill wasps, be more informed and appreciate them for their part in the ecological system.
@@NathanVeenstra I know that they provide benefits, which is why I don’t kill them when they are outside unless necessary. When they’re inside my home, however, is a different story. Inside, not only am I personally afraid of them but my cats will go after them which, if it is a wasp that stings, puts them at risk. Additionally, my window does not open meaning that I can’t simply let it back outside. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going outside and killing whatever I can see. I’m getting those that invade my own space out. Also, inside my apartment, the wasp will simply die anyway whether it be from starvation, dehydration, or a solid swat from a cat, and inside my apartment it isn’t serving any purpose. As stated before, I cannot just let it back out as my window doesn’t open and if I opened my door I would only be inviting more in as they live somewhere around the entrance of my apartment, which would result in more of them dying. While I agree that people should be better informed about nature, you also need to recognize that different people have different situations. Some people have kids who are put at risk by the presence of wasp nests, some people are deathly allergic, and some people like myself only want to kill them when they get inside. My question for you is this; Why in the world are you watching videos about how to safely kill wasps if your stance is to not kill them? It seems to me like you might have come here just to cause problems in the comment section.
@@NathanVeenstra Update: I’ve killed ten so far with this very method :) Vile things are suffering like they deserve. And yes, it does take them out of the air.
I'd have vacuumed them up!
I had it in our car on in the bonnet!!!😭
Just spray the fkin bottle already!
First, you should determine whether there's actual danger, because this is a nest of the polistes dominula, the European paper wasp in English. They are harmless and won't annoy you because they are not the kind of wasps that will be searching for sugar in the late summer. So there was absolutely no need to destroy these wasps, which you could live literally next to without anyone getting in any kind of danger. These wasps won't sting as quickly as the common wasp or the German wasp. Secondly, people should know that wasps just don't sting that quickly if you just leave them alone. If you aren't of threat to them, there's no need for them to waste energy in defending themselves. And they're more useful than you think because they kill mosquitoes, which will actually sting you and are more annoying than any wasp will ever be.
Got a nest in a vent behind my fridge right by my head where I sleep in my camper. I leave them alone and try and give them as much ventilation as pos. One stung me thinking I was a threat but for the most part we keep out of each other's way.
@@dancarter482 see? If you just choose to live and let live … Especially the Polistes species are very harmless and only defend when you pretty much touch their nest. Which is more than logical, what would you do if someone attacked your home?
@@NathanVeenstra I potentially pose a FAR greater threat to them than they do to me.
@@dancarter482 you are absolutely right.
They got REKTED
"blowtorch"
they were just hatched out. If you waited a day they would have been all gone . No fuss no hassle.
You must not be in Louisiana, those same wasps here are vicious!
I have to demolish a stone wall and at least one wasps nest is in the way. I think this is how im going to go about it but i will do it in the early morning so they will be less active.
That would be a good tactic - Or at night.
@@bwhite661 i hope so. Yes night would be best. Anyway im going to get it over with today in early morning in about two hours time.
@@bwhite661 did it. Was easier then i taught it would be. Probably out of season rain storms some days back helped reduce their numbers too
The looked like babies or ants compared to the ones in Texas. Everything is bigger in Texas even the bugs.
Good video. I want to make a suggestion to you, though, in just 2 words:Bee Suit! They help cut way down on the chances of getting stung, should an errant wasp land on you, & try to sting you. A bee suit is good for bees, bumblebees, wasps, hornets & yellow jackets. Happy hunting!
Where do u get a bee suit? Do they rent them?
You're out hunting bumblebees?

They don't look like WASP's?
They are. Yellow jacket wasps. They are horrible.
I HATE THOSE LITTLE PESTS WE DON'T NEED WASPS THEY ARE TROUBLE
The sad music lol
RIP hornets
Soap kills?
Yes i just tried it on a sleeping nest in the ground, glug glug, nothing flying now - crazy!
soap made them suphocate since they breath through their skin.
Yup! It works for many bugs.
A clean kill !
It worked as the nest was very small what if it was big??
Maybe using a house end sprayer filled with soap so you could coat them all quickly. And try to do it in the late evening when they are less active. They essentially breathe through their exoskeleton so the suds that coat their body suffocated them.
"naturally" still dont care xD super satiafying
How the hell are you so brave
johnny myers lol they aren't hard to kill... hotter the day faster they'll move?! Early morning & late at night best Time to attack them! Set yur sprayer/nozzle properly & spray away! I actually use ammonia rubbing alcohol & a touch of dishwashing liquid! They don't budc

Really??? Does it really work????
The soap is the key. It suffocates them. It works!
lol. what to do what to do? lets poke it !
I honestly thought Pain's theme from naruto was playing when u started spraying.
yo u made me laugh ,this was a good way to kill i just not sure i going to get bundle up like you dd lol
Thats it!? Dawn dish soap and water!?!?
Yep. Thats it. The soapy water suffocates them.
At 3:07 and 3:08...did you get stung twice?
chadergeist82. I was a little nervous with a couple flying around but did not get stung.
