    • It is accepted by Ethiopian Orthodoxy and their Tewahedo bible, which was more or less established around three thousand years ago during the early days of Judaism. Religious scholars and the established churches dismissed Ethiopia's addition of the book of Enoch since it was the only known copy until the dead sea scrolls were uncovered later on. The history of Ethiopia is actually quite interesting in both its age and it's relationship with Christianity/Judaism

  • A theory: the Watchers/Angels are no more closer to God than humans. They simply belong to a different dimension. Possibly, they saw the Creation of Earth and Humankind. Seeing humankind as possessing potential, they wanted to guide. But being from another dimension, they couldn't exist in ours without making sacrifices, like being confined to a material body. This is what they meant by "God punished us" - in reality, He didn't. But the Watchers made the mistake of entering the material dimension, and this caused their otherwise incorporeal essence to be trapped in a fixed form of matter.

    • That makes sense. If you want to help mankind, fine, but to truly do that you have to live with them, be like them, suffer like them, and be mortal like them. From bodies of light (infinite, immortal) they became bodies of rock (mortal, with limitations) It's clever because in Genesis, humans were made from clay/mud. The Angels also became clay/mud after entering our world. Lots of great symbolism here.

  • A key of biblical interpretation is to allow the Scripture to interpret itself. People fall into error when they try to make the Bible say something to fit their particular doctrinal position when the text does not say it. In this case, the text simply says 'sons of God', which is a designation for humans. There is nowhere in the Bible where demons are called 'sons', and especially not 'sons of God.'

    • This is why I consider the Greek mythology a closer footprint to the bible. In essence, all life derived from single source which is light from the stars and those stars also came from other stars. So there is certainty of origin of life, we just do not have the technology to trace it all the way back from the beginning. Demons are just old flame from old world we never know yet, or will ever be able to comprehend, the old flame which is old stars died eons ago probably was home to older species or what we came to know the fallen angels. Probably that's where Lucifer came from and the rest of the angels too, they eventually transcended by accumulating immense knowledge to understand how to stop life from ending and eventually understood what are the ways to avoid decay. Remember, on Earth, there are creatures with long life too, some are immortal too! so those creatures might not been exposed to corruption on a biological level. When it comes to reality, there has been 14 human species, only one remain which is the modern human. In the bible, the early tree of human family lived longer than 120 years and even up to 600 years for each person, that shows the purity of our DNA or bloodline and until after Moses some human lived to be over 120 years. I think the Sons of God has long been gone as our DNA continue to decay and exhibit deformities due to corruption and decay in our biology.

    • I'm not trying to be facetious or rude. So please understand that my question isn't satire. What story are you referring to? This isn't Biblical. Not truly. I mean, Jubal Cain was there, and Methuselah was Noah's ancestor. However, the Angels, fallen or otherwise, are not mentioned in the Biblical account in this way. Neither is Methuselah. His name and age is, but not this. Is there a source you can site to it?

    • Hey bro, for a better understanding of the movie, you need to have a broader perspective and not just base yourself on the Bible, I am myself protestant, but if you read the book of Enoc (an ancient Hebrew apocalyptic religious text, ascribed by tradition to the patriarch Enoch who was the father of Methuselah and the great-grandfather of Noah) that booked considered part of the Bible for some ortodoxan Cristian churches, tex in the Thora Jewish, in the mishrad also jewhis plus the coran you will see many aspects and will find the movie more interesting@boredblackbelt

    • @Ater_Nefarium I figured most of it was in reference to the book of Enoch by the different animals, the Angels, and the way that Methuselah talks about Enoch. Still, it's not biblical. It's not just apocryphal because they labeled it that. It is because of so many different elements, many of which point to it being written in the Hellenistic period and filled with Babylonian tradition and myth.

  • So are they like the Nephilim or fallen angels, or a bit of both?

    @The_Great_Eye@The_Great_Eye Жыл бұрын
    • Biblically speaking no! They are not Nephilims. There is a cryptic passage in the Genisis that says: "the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful. And they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose" After that, God says that humans will not live more than 120 years because: "He will not allow his spirit to live in them forever". This passage has been interpreted in many ways and none of them were really satisfying. According to one of the many interpretations, the Nephilims were the sons of the "Sons of God" and the "daughters of men". So they are not Nephilim, they are...the sons of God.

  • This movie is so inaccurate.......the pilot makes Yaweh God the villian and the fallen angels the good guys...... Something to note.....there are so many misconception about the fallen angels and their origins...... The bible gave account of two sect of fallen angels... The first sect is Luccifer and his angels(we all know the story....they were cast down by Yahweh God for their treachery) And the second sect are the watchers.....the angels that forcefully slept with the daughters of men and bore giants also known as the Nephilim. In extra biblical text like the book of enoch gives us a ton of information about these watchers.....and it was revealed that they were all imprisoned underneath the earth until judgment.... Their sons the Nephilim however were engaged in a civil war that annihilated them all.....this war was caused by Yahweh God to get rid of these abominable creatures..for they were not meant to exist.....so they will go on to become disembodied spirits also known as demons......

  • The Biblical truth is that those secondary fallen angels (the first fall occurred when a third of angels followed Satan) came to earth not to teach people but because they were seduced by the beauty of human women and wanted to sleep with them, and from that union (angels-human) which was not supposed to happen, different creatures were born some more some less human, but mostly known as the nephelim (it is said Goliath was one of their descendants) and described as giant and strong but harsh people. I have a theory that this act of spiritual crossbreeding "opened" human genetics and made it flexible, therefore further interactions of those nephelim and other half-humans with animals and each other created monsters like manticoras, trolls and other depicted in some ancient myths. Sin of altering human identity increased progressively with generations. All that led to earth becoming overpopulated with mutants instead of humans, and when humanity is lost - salvation is lost as well, so God's plan of saving mankind was corrupted (Jesus Christ can not come from a non-human). Obviously among such world God was forgotten or hated. And this is why the great flood was needed to purify the land from these creatures. Modern Christian philosophers talking about that sometimes mention that some of those creatures escaped the flood or somehow survived, some of them were very advanced (they had angels as their fathers and teachers, yes) and built ships capable of leaving earth and going to the moon or other places, some were probably able to hide under earth and swim or survive with no air until stuff settled down. This is why ancient civilizations have depictions of intelligent monsters (which mostly hated mankind), they were hunted and killed and the further we go in history the less of them remained. Anyway, I am a traditional Christian and only can 100% agree with the biblical part of what I said here, the theories remain theories.

    @Edelhif@Edelhif4 ай бұрын
    • It's not theory if it came from the scriptures. I will include Enoch and aprocypha in the bible even they were not inspired by got but more of a world building to the current events. Like book of Enoch. Not inspired by God well if you the fear of God in it, my theory is that it can be.
