This show really turned itself into a stand-up x improv comedy show and it's now just living the version of its best self.
You got the combo perfectly! To think it started as a late night show with the conventions and all (and it's own bit of flavor, as all late night has), and now it's become whatever THIS beautiful mess is :)

It was honestly a little shaky the first day back with an audience. As I had only started watching this show after the pandemic started, I was worried they would revert to a tame, PG-13-ish show. This episode put my mind at ease though 😀

Of all the late night shows these people have the most fun doing their job.
The show can literally start charging the audience. The monologue is literally a stand-up show now. They have celebrity interviews and musical performances to end the show. I would not be surprised and actually like it if James starts roasting the audience. And considering this show airs at midnight, it's perfect.
I'd be happy with him telling them to stfu every night. I want to hear the crew, not the freeloaders' damn hootin'-n-hollerin'.
I’ve never clicked on a video so quickly that had the word “staff” in it. The crew and camaraderie make my whole day! Love Reggie tapping the salad bowl instead of clapping!!!

In an average room, Hagar finds 43 items she can use as a lethal weapon, including the room itself. One of my favourite Chuck Norris jokes.
Best show in a while , I was laughing out loud for most of it. I thought bringing back the audience would take away from the new spirit of the show but it's nice to hear more people laughing at the interaction between James and the crew.

I honestly have no concept of what this show was like before this format as I have only seen short clips of interviews. But this seemingly newer format is fabulous. Reggie Watts casually eating a bowl of salad at the keyboard is amazing.

I totally want to become an audience member for the experience of watching all this banter.😂 Ps: It got me thinking however if there’s additional work hours for them because they now have to be present for the show at the same time do the scripts and segments and all. Hehe. So immense respect to all who makes this show!🙌
It does not seem mandatory (the presence); in the last 6 months, a lot of "new" people showed up and, sometimes, James mentioned that they were working remote or not there during the show. Its probably good for their career to be seen on late night television, interact with James, making joke, etc. However, immense respect to all indeed :)
