Emergency responders in Nevada, Texas, South Dakota, and Nebraska scrambled during a major 911 outage after phone lines went down for millions of people. While officials do not yet know what caused it, there are concerns that call centers could be the target of cyberattacks. NBC’s Erin McLaughlin reports for TODAY.

Our physical landline is being phased out soon as services switch to digital, and at the same time our internet/cable connection has been going out multiple times a day for over a week now.

Whatever the cause, always have the number for local services; police, hospital, ambulance, etc. available...
I can see it's going backwards here to citizen band radio at least we can talk to each other over the waves it's very worrying

Power going out isnt the same as Cell service going out. And its probably just a city side issue.

Cyberattack
Every home & business *needs to get an "old fashioned" landline* - - and voters need to fight to keep phone companies from dropping this type of service. Phone lines via cable companies can go down during a power outage, but the old type will still function fine.

If they can make outgoing calls but not receive incoming it could be a problem with the LERG (call routing directory).
Thats what happens when theres not enough workers and the ones you have are underpaid and overworked.

I think it’s more likely to be the new systems and a glitch in updating it as they have been changing over on to new networks and systems and having a lot of IT issues globally
