    • Yup I have defended Asal at times, not because his behaviour was acceptable, but because he is young, and needs time to mature, but I am not seeing his conduct improve over time. He has just served 2 months ban for bad conduct and first tournament back, no sign of improvement. At this point you are choosing to conduct yourself like this. It doesn't seem that his behaviour will improve until sanctions are so tough he is unable to ignore them.

  • There's about 4/5 strokes that should've gone against Asal in that game. End of the 2nd game where Asal leaves his arm out after his shot and keeps it stiff so Elias couldn't get to the ball. Elias definitely returns if Asal doesnt intentionally block. You just have to compare it to the previous shot to tell that it was intentional. In the 3rd game Asal puts his leg so far back to block Elias who then trips over it. Should've been a conduct stroke there. At the end of the 3rd game at the end he doesnt make any effort to clear the ball, assumes he's won the point and doesnt give Elias a chance to play it. He shouldve dropped back away from the wall rather than towards the player and then embarassingly dives. He seems to exagerate a dive whenever he feels like he's done something wrong to try and get sympathy. In the 4th game Asal screams before the ball has even bounced twice putting off Elias. Might not have gotten it anyway but you still can't be doing that. Also makes no attempt to clear a path to the ball at the end of the 4th game, I thought that was a joke call. More of a stroke Elias than no let. The way he dives and goes down is embarassing. Almost every time there is contact with another player he could just take a step but instead he just decides to collapse to the floor and complain. So glad that conduct stroke went against him . These are only the ones we are shown as well. He has to be refereed in a different way because unlike most other players you know he is doing everything he can to cheat the system. He got away with a bunch of calls in this game. Elias wouldve been 10-10 first game and 9-10 4th instead of losing them at those moments. He could've easily won one of those with the right calls.

I believe my comment was rather fair and balanced all things being considered and as in any sport (perhaps not snooker although even then..) severe injuries are always a risk. Did you know that over 50 people in the the alone die each year just putting their socks on for instance? Perhaps if my mind were more open, we'd agree to ban these dangerous cotton / polyester goods and making sure we all wear Jesus sandals for the health and safety and future of us all! ;-). In all seriousness, risk is risk. Sport comes with risk. There's an acceptable risk and is Asal a higher higher player- yes he is. • Asal must have spent the two month embargo perfecting the “tripping leg” technique plus some soccer classes. I wish the referee had the power to give a conduct game, not just a stroke. He used to leave his leg after hitting the ball to block passage but now it’s a leg coming out after hitting the ball. It’s intentional tripping and may end the career of an unlucky opponent one day. A 6 month ban will do him justice.

  • I don't see why Asal should or will stop playing as he is. I mean he exhibits his illegal blocking movements in most of the rallies and making many points out of them, however the ref only calls a few of them and consequently he only loses 3 or 4 points in a whole match. It's a simple math. Same logic as a pickpocket who steals $10,000 a month doing so and even though he gets caught once a month and fined $2,000, which means he still makes $8,000 a month in total so no surprise he keeps doing it. The saddest thing is that none of the officials seems to notice this is exactly what Asal is doing to them.

  • Asal makes squash so entertaining and fun to watch . No doubt, some drama is there but I feel like it's a movie and for me , he is the one who can make your heart beat goes up ... chill out guys who doesn't like him but right now , he is in the finals and his haters will still be watching his match highlights. On the other hand, hesham and dissouky are just so graceful and cool guys .. we need to accept different personalities of different players

  • Asal.....what a bad advert for squash and for PSA. Every game with asal is the same, full of pushing, legs kicking or sticking out, drama. When refs and PSA will have guts to clean up this mess?

  • I don't why people watching asal's games like him or cheer him up. I have watched his game on youtube a lot. I also watched his game which he played 2016~2018 when he was unknown to sqaush fans like nowadays. From 2016 to 2022, he always plays same way. When he feels hard to win or play the game, he make weired movement like blocking the way to a ball(For example, using left leg and moving to the T in weired way). Most sqaush fans don't blame his behavior when he celebrate his win or getting point. I also really like the way he celebrate his win. But, most squash fans blame him because of his movement or tactics.(I don't want express the word 'tactics'. I think that is not tactics, that is wrong behavior) His weired movement can cause serious injury to opponent. I can't understand he says the game is nothing wrong with Soliman(It is applied all the games he has played in weired way not just the game with Soliman). After make a shot, he should make a clear way to the ball. This is really basic rule of playing squash. I really hope he can realize what he have done and he make a progress to right direction.

  • That trailing leg really is something. Do the refs meet the players before the match to go over anything? This could be the place to say ‘this is what’s expected’.

  • Game 1 13-13 Asal doesn't even acknowledge that point by his opponent. And then 6-6 game 2 absurd racquet swing. Game 3 5-9 tripping Elias, 9-10 wild swing, 9-10 is a stroke b/c of blocking! wild swing, Game 3 conduct stroke..cheats his whole way to the final score..trash talking..he has ruined this sport...That was f**king insane! Asal is so sad, go to college or something and get some life experience and learn some sportsmanship or spend more time with Ramy Ashour..

    • Bit dangerous? You are putting it mildly. I dread to watch Asal now and am genuinely concerned for anyone who plays against him. At that level of intensity, players can easily twist their ankles or break their knees if tripped.

  • In fact, this is Asal's big picture. He's trying to bring a reformation of modren squash rule by fully abusing its weak point lol. BTW, I knew he always keeps tripping and blocking opponents in tournaments, but the vocal hindrance skill was a surprise. It's amazing how well he finds an ambiguous area between legal and illegal plays.
