I would be terrified to play Asal, the wild racket strings and trailing legs, amazed he hasn't injured more opponents
agreed
Asal with the ufc leg kicks. Very lucky Diego didn’t get injured. Like Jon “bones” jones, I mean “eye poke” jones.
He threw his leg back as a blocking technique. They need to start taking away points and maybe he would stop. I'm sure he has a reputation on the PSA tour now after this match, if he didn't already.
Asal is a great player but not a great personality …
Wouldn’t worry too much he’d batter you, you’d be safe 😂
I'm really tired of asal at this point... dives for the ball unnecessarily to fake injury and cause court service to disrupt his opponent's flow, moving into his opponent at every opportunity to prevent his retrieval and general melodrama and argumentative... hope dessouky wins the final
Yup I have defended Asal at times, not because his behaviour was acceptable, but because he is young, and needs time to mature, but I am not seeing his conduct improve over time. He has just served 2 months ban for bad conduct and first tournament back, no sign of improvement. At this point you are choosing to conduct yourself like this. It doesn't seem that his behaviour will improve until sanctions are so tough he is unable to ignore them.
I mean youre right, but gaultier did it too
@@angadvirk7309 Greg did what, trailing leg? No. Blocking opponents? No. Trying to injure opponent? No.
@@angadvirk7309 what on earth are you talking about?
Asal is danger in the court and not because of his good skills. Are they waiting for a tragedy to take action? Players should unite to refuse to play with him until he gets expelled from the professional squash for ever. He had chances to change his attitude, but did not care.
Someone could easily break a leg or end up with some sort of strain or shoulder injury from his antics. What happens then?
Exactly, he should be permanently banned immediately for lifetime.
Question: does he ever played a dirty match like this one against one egyptian legend?
You have some great sportsmen from Egypt like Ali Farag, Ramy Ashour, and Amr Shabana and then we have this asshole like Asal. Asal should be banned from Sports till he corrects his technique of blocking the people and faking injury to recover.
Asal should switch to football too much pretending to be injured then once he wins he jumps around the court like a grasshopper
Dessouky will have quite a few people rooting for him tonight
Hope he keeps his head cool, he tends to loose his mind when up against Asal's dirty antics
There will be lots and lots of rough contact I think. Asal is a p.o.s as we all know
Asal you have a long way to go before you really play a world class game. I will be cheering for Dessouky tonight!
I love how Dessouky cleaned up his behaviour and I started to be his fan. On the other hand Asal... he is really talented, but his behaviour is awfull.. hard to watch him and i am always rooting against him. And it doesnt seem that his behaviour will change in near future.. shame
Hard to play an opponent who is always leaving a leg trailing, blocking and feigning injury. WE used to call it cheating. Now its called giving 150%
@quadrant03 Look what they got this sport to be today. And the same mistake is about to be made. Yes, the future of this sport is blight...
Refs have to be brave and deal with Asal, for the good of the game.
It's the only way. He's cheating his way to his ranking. No doubt he's insanely talented but if he didn't get away with half the stuff he does then he'd drop down a good 5 or 6. Elias was better than him tonight if it were under fair circumstances.
He's the Putin of squash
Elias actually won the sport though Asal won the match. Don't know how much more the game will suffer cause of Asal
Asal's dives to get breaks is insane
He has an explosive movement, so he needs these breaks to regroup. They should give him a conduct stroke for that. Btw, since they started with the towel on court more phisically strong players start to win more matches.
@@ricardoborges4637 Yeah, I'm curious if the towel boxes will stick around after COVID. It's always seemed a little ridiculous in squash that you are placed at a disadvantage as a heavy sweater, but the gamesmanship around the towel breaks is also an issue.
Yeah, looks like he took lessons from soccer players.
asal's come back and his behaviour is actually worse than before lmao
Asal ruins the whole game, I cant belive he gets away with what he does.No doubt he can play good squash but his ways make the opponent lose focus and ultimately lose the game.Elias really deserved the win he is such a calm composed player
I can understand Diego's frustrations on court. How many times does Asal need to deliberately put his foot back before someone really gets hurt. We don't do it at club level, he is supposed to be a professional. All the determination in the world to win, but very poor execution.
Getting very tired of Asal's antics.
Asal has to be the worst ambassador for squash EVER! Actually, he and his dad both.
There's about 4/5 strokes that should've gone against Asal in that game. End of the 2nd game where Asal leaves his arm out after his shot and keeps it stiff so Elias couldn't get to the ball. Elias definitely returns if Asal doesnt intentionally block. You just have to compare it to the previous shot to tell that it was intentional. In the 3rd game Asal puts his leg so far back to block Elias who then trips over it. Should've been a conduct stroke there. At the end of the 3rd game at the end he doesnt make any effort to clear the ball, assumes he's won the point and doesnt give Elias a chance to play it. He shouldve dropped back away from the wall rather than towards the player and then embarassingly dives. He seems to exagerate a dive whenever he feels like he's done something wrong to try and get sympathy. In the 4th game Asal screams before the ball has even bounced twice putting off Elias. Might not have gotten it anyway but you still can't be doing that. Also makes no attempt to clear a path to the ball at the end of the 4th game, I thought that was a joke call. More of a stroke Elias than no let. The way he dives and goes down is embarassing. Almost every time there is contact with another player he could just take a step but instead he just decides to collapse to the floor and complain. So glad that conduct stroke went against him . These are only the ones we are shown as well. He has to be refereed in a different way because unlike most other players you know he is doing everything he can to cheat the system. He got away with a bunch of calls in this game. Elias wouldve been 10-10 first game and 9-10 4th instead of losing them at those moments. He could've easily won one of those with the right calls.
I agree the refereeing was way too lenient.
Asal is so toxic player it is painful to watch.
I would have liked to see the final with diego and dessouky, a gentleman's game.
What a way to start with that Philadelphia! Disappointing to see that Asal needs to be suspended again already. You'd think someone advising him would have half a brain.
Managed by his father I understand. He needs outside Counsel and quick. Having your parents manage you will only take you so far. Unfortunately, they tend to stick with that process too long and it often goes from productive to counter productive about the time a player moves from amazing amateur into professional player, where everything changes but the parents don't make the required changes for fear of losing control.
The PSA have basically got to ask themselves if they want an aggressive cheat at the top of their sport. This nonsense seriously has to stop. I, for one, won't be watching the final.
@logan: Just take a peep at the end and then decide whether or not to watch the final.
You can watch the replay now for schadenfreude at least.
@@georgekrumm1857 spoileralert!!
Please please please PSA do something to control ASAL. His behaviour on court is disgusting and dangerous. I feel sorry for any of his opponents, he needs to change or go.
Asal's first tournament after his suspension and he's right back at it. Give him another suspension and if he doesn't clean up after that, just ban him for life. He is going to injure his colleagues and he is turning squash into a mockery. PSA stop him before he injures somebody.
He has had enough second chances. An immediate lifetime ban should be enforced.
Asal equally gives quality to squash as much as he takes dignity from it. I didn't watch the whole match, but judging from the highlights he was intimidating, and cheating. Horrible disgrace for the sport
The first match was awesome, great players… sorry that Diego forgot to take the trash out.
Tripping is a penalty in every sport. It would be nice if psa would address this publicly so their fans know that they are at least trying to be proactive. Instead of just saying "no further comment" when they announce a suspension.
They have to change the way they ref these matches with Asal. Penalise him, penalise him, penalise him until he can only win by playing the correct, fair way. Elias wins that under fair circumstances. Should've had 2 conduct strokes and more other strokes and lets against him.
Asal’s backward leg lunge is completely out of control. It just looks bizarre - like a spasm of opposite motion.
PSA, are you looking? Asal should be banned for another few months! He put his hind leg out again to trip Diego which caused Diego to fall.
video decision and conduct strokes will be enough for education purposes. Another ban will not change much. He has to be tought the hard way.
At least 2 times egregiously on the highlights video. How many others?
I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point, but I find Asal's intensional body blocking, flailing falls and obnoxious showboating so exhausting. The most annoying aspect of all though is that he's an extremely talented player, and these silly behaviours actively lose him points and/or distract his opponent. And without them, his victories would either be more decisive and impressive or less controversial. Good luck to Dessouky!
Hate watching Asal, his coach has given him bad habits, he is a danger on the court, he has the most incidents of physical contact, players tripping and falling due to his movements.
First three games is of 90 minutes!!! Insane fitness by both.
Great effort by Hesham
Very exciting semi-finals! The first one for the magic that both players produce, the second for the drama and the duration.
Around the 16:00 mark you can see Asal move stright back instead of towards the T after his drop. Hes so blatant of blocking that even the average squash player can see it. Hes a cheat, he may cement his legacy as an incredible talent but with the tarnished record of being having the worst attitude
Personally, more often and often I avoid watching the Asal play. He deserves a longer break to have time to consider engaging in other sports and stop ruining squash.
How many times is PSA going to allow this behaviour from Asal. It is embarrassing to the sport and should not be tolerated. Quite sad from PSA aswell for allowing this to happen. You guys seriously need better management, the current people working there are not doing there job well enough unfortunately. PSA really has become worse and worse over the years
love the moving camera, its great to show the real depth of the court swell as the intensity of movement/hitting that the stationary front on cameras don't quite achieve. saw it a while back in one of the Egyptian tournaments (the one with the pink court) and have been waiting for its return!
We can't keep giving Asal chances to change at the risk of other players' safety. If he really injures one of them, they should not only be suing him but PSA for putting them on a court with him. In the last 2 days alone he's smacked Makin in the head with a racket and blatantly tripped Elias.
Not an Asal fan however I don't see anyone's health or safety at serious risk during a squash match. A bump, bruise, scrape -even a cut in worse case isn't *really* the worst thing in the world. Saying this, I agree it should always be avoided where possible
@@adamburton99 specifically I'm thinking about the time he tripped Momen and, during his own overly dramatic flop to the ground, landed with a significant portion of his weight on Momen's ankle. Momen wasn't moving right after that and should have stopped the match. That incident could have turned out much worse and taken Momen out the sport for who knows how long.
@@adamburton99 this is a pretty closed minded assessment. People can, and have, had horrific injuries playing squash. Concussion is a real worry when he's pushing ppl around and tripping them like he does. At this elite level, any sprain or tear can cause massive disruption to someone's career.
@@eggwiggle I don't think I'm being closed minded about a physical sport being physical and the acceptable risk of a few knocks and scrapes being endured. I believe my comment was rather fair and balanced all things being considered and as in any sport (perhaps not snooker although even then..) severe injuries are always a risk. Did you know that over 50 people in the the alone die each year just putting their socks on for instance? Perhaps if my mind were more open, we'd agree to ban these dangerous cotton / polyester goods and making sure we all wear Jesus sandals for the health and safety and future of us all! ;-). In all seriousness, risk is risk. Sport comes with risk. There's an acceptable risk and is Asal a higher higher player- yes he is. More onto him self though I think and im ok with that part however, hurt my beloved Wilstrop, Momen, Farrag or Dessouky then ill come back and apologies to you. Note, I would include Coll in the above list however as he's made of granite, I'm not overly concerned..
@@adamburton99 squash isn't american football or rugby mate. there's a duty to protect athletes from dangerous movements and behavior, which he's clearly exhibiting match after match. as mentioned, lifelong careers are at stake. write more succinctly, you might come up with the right answer.
congratulations for both ! Dessouky, I hope to see your beautifull style on N 1
Why cant any match with Asal be just straight up clean squash?
Should be another ban after this tourney. And a new directive to refereeing specifically regarding him and his antics.
ironically, that trailing leg is what's gonna keep squash lagging behind - I'm all for 'characters' in the sport, but this just shows lack of character the guy's got an incredible game, if he straightens it out, he can leave behind an enviable legacy - otherwise, this will just be a low point in the developing history of the sport no points for guessing, which player I'm referring to here 😊
Exactly. Its amazing how many squash fans confuse this behaviour with "character". Interesting thought - what would Asal fans think if one of the top 10 ladies started acting like this, especially the post match celebrations?
@@garethjones5385 The post match celebrations are fine. Gaultier did them too. It's the trailing legs that are dangerous
@@dontwatchdotorg I have zero issues or opinions of the post match celebrations - to each their own I say, but yes, other gamesmanship related behaviour is a little too blunt and much
Asal must learn that losing fairly is better than winning cheatedly. I will be cheering for Dessouky tonight!
Asal once again destroying the spirit and mentality of squash. A sport with no physical contact turned into rugby.. firstly against Joel Makin and now with Diego Elias. This needs to be punished on every chance the ref gets. This player needs to understand that it is his responsibility to give enough space to his opponent to get to the ball.
Unbelievable squash from both semi finals!!!!… loved it💪💪💪😂🙌🏾
The 3-2 game is one of the reasons squash is not in olympics. Asal is a menace for order players. PSA Fair Play Please !!!
Poor Ref in that second match...
3:35 amazing new angles
"Is the court Ok?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well done Dessouky
Top right dynamic camera angle is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used to do that show at 30 seconds quite often. It baffled the hell out my opponents
100% agree! Throws one off so much
Asal is like the school bully. Wins on the day, but fucks up everybody's weekend.
wow look at the hamstring recovery its as if it was never hurt
someone is gg to break his leg or snap his tendon in due course. clearly the 2 month ban did nothing to clean up his act. just so darn painful to watch elias lose the match, could hv been injured badly.
If, with all his rotten excesses and antics, Asal can still play this well, what would he be capable of if he controlled himself and ceased to alienate fans and clearly even referees against him? Clearly, the suspension was of no effect in steering him to more sedate comportment. Try threatening him with expulsion? I personally would not miss him at all.
I don't think he'd be capable of more... Might be even capable of less... His behaviour and way of blocking, unnecessary diving and sometimes injury faking clearly help him disrupt flow and make his opponent stressed and irritated, which in turn makes them have a harder time concentrating. If he played completely cleanly, he'd probably do very slightly not as good, imo.
@@hugopadilla5885 I have to say I do not disagree with you. Asal's true potential is probably as a loser, not a winner!
Asal must have spent the two month embargo perfecting the “tripping leg” technique plus some soccer classes. I wish the referee had the power to give a conduct game, not just a stroke. He used to leave his leg after hitting the ball to block passage but now it’s a leg coming out after hitting the ball. It’s intentional tripping and may end the career of an unlucky opponent one day. A 6 month ban will do him justice.
The sad truth is that the ref does have that power...
I don't see why Asal should or will stop playing as he is. I mean he exhibits his illegal blocking movements in most of the rallies and making many points out of them, however the ref only calls a few of them and consequently he only loses 3 or 4 points in a whole match. It's a simple math. Same logic as a pickpocket who steals $10,000 a month doing so and even though he gets caught once a month and fined $2,000, which means he still makes $8,000 a month in total so no surprise he keeps doing it. The saddest thing is that none of the officials seems to notice this is exactly what Asal is doing to them.
New sport: SquashX...gum shields, helmets, full contact...who's in?
BRAVO PUMAAAAA !!!!
Who else misses games like ashour vs elshourbagy !? extremely intense yet a gentleman's game. Asal is no doubt a danger for his opponent, but sadly, that's the modern squash..
Asap deserves a new suspension, 4 months this time. With this awful behaviour we'll always support his opponents for sure. Let's go Dessouky
9:03 - "Is the court ok?" said by the ref LoL This is the one of the best ref I've seen on tour! He has clear eyes and didn't bother about Asal's acting. Plus he actually cared about the player's safety. Hopefully, we have more of these refs on tour and less players get annoyed by the bad decisions/experiencing bad opponent behaviour on court.
Jeez, Asal is so good I just wish he would stop things like pretending he pulled his hamstring or something cos clearly he was fine given that comeback!
10:15 for shot of the month!
Haven't seen a single comment here supporting Asal for once. At least everyone seems to agree on that now XD
Fares is growing mentally and squash lyyyyy
To Asal for tomorrows match: break a leg!
I don't root for any single player as much as I do for anyone who plays against Asal.
Exactly!
diego more deserve than his opponent
Asal makes squash so entertaining and fun to watch . No doubt, some drama is there but I feel like it's a movie and for me , he is the one who can make your heart beat goes up ... chill out guys who doesn't like him but right now , he is in the finals and his haters will still be watching his match highlights. On the other hand, hesham and dissouky are just so graceful and cool guys .. we need to accept different personalities of different players
I think only Asal’s mum and the weird shouty guy in the front row could enjoy watching him win a squash game
I get really fed up that Assal gets away with such bad behaviour on the court, suspension should have been longer.
Elias was at fault for crowding when they got tangled up no doubt about it but bunch of times Asal was in the way but for sure going to be some good match ups between these two.
Elias and Asal, I think they should be playing football with that performance 😂
Asal.....what a bad advert for squash and for PSA. Every game with asal is the same, full of pushing, legs kicking or sticking out, drama. When refs and PSA will have guts to clean up this mess?
I don't why people watching asal's games like him or cheer him up. I have watched his game on youtube a lot. I also watched his game which he played 2016~2018 when he was unknown to sqaush fans like nowadays. From 2016 to 2022, he always plays same way. When he feels hard to win or play the game, he make weired movement like blocking the way to a ball(For example, using left leg and moving to the T in weired way). Most sqaush fans don't blame his behavior when he celebrate his win or getting point. I also really like the way he celebrate his win. But, most squash fans blame him because of his movement or tactics.(I don't want express the word 'tactics'. I think that is not tactics, that is wrong behavior) His weired movement can cause serious injury to opponent. I can't understand he says the game is nothing wrong with Soliman(It is applied all the games he has played in weired way not just the game with Soliman). After make a shot, he should make a clear way to the ball. This is really basic rule of playing squash. I really hope he can realize what he have done and he make a progress to right direction.
ASAL ES TEATRERO, Y ONE EL PIE !!!!
That trailing leg really is something. Do the refs meet the players before the match to go over anything? This could be the place to say ‘this is what’s expected’.
Asal is ruining the sport- terrible to watch such behaviour!
Asal's diving is ridiculous. Glad Dessouky won the next day.
Also I've rarely seen a more obvious block than the one Asal did at game point in the 4th. kzhead.info/sun/qt2antWEn4yvq4E/bejne.html
asal is such a little baby i hope he quits the sport
Such a dirty player. Think not many would miss him if he got suspended permanently.
@@woshihuo all the flops are what make me the most mad
Game 1 13-13 Asal doesn't even acknowledge that point by his opponent. And then 6-6 game 2 absurd racquet swing. Game 3 5-9 tripping Elias, 9-10 wild swing, 9-10 is a stroke b/c of blocking! wild swing, Game 3 conduct stroke..cheats his whole way to the final score..trash talking..he has ruined this sport...That was f**king insane! Asal is so sad, go to college or something and get some life experience and learn some sportsmanship or spend more time with Ramy Ashour..
Cant remember watching a player who is as unprofessional as Asal. Intentional blocking and pathetic diving around the court. Embarrassing conduct
C'mon Dessouky!!
Who's that screaming in the audience for Asal, front row... ?
The camera angle from above the court to the right running on about 20fps is rubbish
'Fake injury Asal' against 'the puma'
Incredible fitness from both players but the squash rules should be tightened to prevent Asal's legs from blocking his opponents
10:58 lmao
The right corner camera angle is the worst. Please stick to the full court back view
Asap cheated many times with his legs. Players Refuse to play with him. He will injure Players and they don't do anything to stop his cheat games. Shame in him and the PSA for doing nothing to stop the cheat aptitude of Asal.
Don't know what to say Amazing play by fares and asal, you're good but try to control your movement it's bit dangerous for the other players. Waiting for the final
Bit dangerous? You are putting it mildly. I dread to watch Asal now and am genuinely concerned for anyone who plays against him. At that level of intensity, players can easily twist their ankles or break their knees if tripped.
The Academy Award goes to HATEFULL ASAL By Quantine egypt federation
Not liking that new camera angle.
In fact, this is Asal's big picture. He's trying to bring a reformation of modren squash rule by fully abusing its weak point lol. BTW, I knew he always keeps tripping and blocking opponents in tournaments, but the vocal hindrance skill was a surprise. It's amazing how well he finds an ambiguous area between legal and illegal plays.
He should've been a lawyer or politician
Those trailing legs are so dangerous. How many times will it take to give a match conduct? Soon or later someone will get injured by him badly.
