  • Never chase attention, love or affection. If it's not given freely, it's not worth having.

    • These things are never given freely. The stoic philosophy will tell you to not WANT for external validation. Simply strengthen yourself and as you increase your personal transformation so will your presence in the eyes of others.

    • I agree up to a certain point. If everyone waited for everyone else to show affection first, the world would be bereft of affection. It’s probably best to show affection to those who’ve never attempted to harm you, and calmly remove said affection if they try to.

I’m married to a beautiful one, have healthy and beautiful children. But if I stopped providing for them or protecting them as a father or husband should, doesn’t guarantee love beyond the fact that I’m their relative. People have roles and duties. A key tenant in stoic philosophy. Women don’t owe men shit just because they’re a nice guy. Dudes who pay for pussy are the most pathetic ones. Women of substance usually require men of substance, far beyond financial. Those are the men reading this and watching these videos that don’t go to the gym, can’t fight, never been to war, or are not intelligent. The ones sit around and play video games, color their hair and beard, or smoke weed and wonder why they can’t find friends or lovers.

  • Here's some advice and I promise you it's good. If a woman doesn't meet you halfway, move on. Even if she is interested in you. If they can't meet you at least halfway then that means they are either not interested, play games, or have issues that will probably destroy the relationship anyway. I met women like this. Not worth your time. The best women I've met act normally. They don't make make you feel confused or manipulated. You may determine that she isn't really a person you want too see romantically but if they are interested in you, at least you won't have to guess. The video is correct in saying don't feel rejected either. I've rejected women who I knew were better people even though I think I'm a decent guy. I've felt rejected before but had to ask myself if she was what I really wanted. What if she wasn't so pretty? Do I like her personality enough? Never feel inferior for feeling rejected. Like men, some women don't have good judgment. As the video indicates, if a relationship doesn't follow a healthy arc from the start, they will never fully appreciate you.

  • When I was 12 years old I had so much of the stoic wisdom it's not even funny. The problem was when I turned 13 my parents got divorced and made me question everything I had learned. I had used many things to get my way argumentatively. I realized I was not a nice person by the time I was 14 and cast away my huge ego along with my stoic principles. I swore that would just be a kind person and not hurt people and feared my ego that always wanted to take credit for everything. Now at 56, I'm relearning these familiar principles.

  • I have to disagree with the meaning of happiness when he says that "our happiness shouldnt be determined by our outer world". I think it is a mix between our mind and outer world. If i want to be with friends because they make me happy I also have to rely on them to be kind, respectful, sympathetic, etc.. in order for me to enjoy their company thus feeling happy when with them. If our happiness didnt revolve around our external world at all then we would just sit indoors all day on the couch and do nothing and supposedly be happy yet people who do actually do that and dont connect with the outside world become depressed. Our happiness does depend to a greater extent on the choices/actions we make in our external world. I dont understand when monks say that external factors dont dictate our happiness yet they became monks because of an external factor ( Buddhist temples, other monks, buddhist scrips,etc..) shaped them to be who they are today. For me feeling like our happiness doesnt rely on our external world just creats disconnection with our souls and the experience of what life has to offer. We have to learn to connect with the outer world to be happy because its what we were put on this planet for to experience life and not to disconnect and disregard it.

I think the difference is that chasing is like doing a whole lot of extra work that isn’t necessary. Taking the lead is pursuing, but with requirements. Chasing is pursuing any port in a storm.
