Created in 1977, The World's Strongest Man™ has become the premier event in strength athletics. For over 30 years, the strongest men on the planet have come together in a series of unique and amazing tests of strength to determine The World's Strongest Man. The competition has travelled to stunning and varied locations such as Zambia, Iceland, Mauritius, Malaysia, Morocco, China and the USA.
For over three decades The World's Strongest Man has tested the limits of human strength, power, and endurance. The best strongmen on the planet and the most demanding challenges including Fingal's Fingers, Truck Pull, Dead Lift, Giant Farmers Walk, Plane Pull and the Atlas Stones have made the event a highlight in the TV calendar and the show a family favourite with a worldwide audience of over 220 million people.

  • Saw him working out at his gym in Auburn in the mid to late 80s. I have never seen weights bend bars like that. Benching 500+, squatting much more. Absolutely insane and a great guy to everyone he met!

  • in 1980 he scored an impressive 105 point, his runner-up scored 79. giving him a lead of 26 points. keep in mind the average score of those events at the time was about 50-60. doubling the score of the competitiors both then and today.

Yeh theirs new guy Zedrunas, Marius but I just think that if he was competing now or he had to compete against any of those guys hed of just blown them away he was immence just simply mind blowingly awesome. No ones has strong has that Marius was ok but Kaz was more consistant over all n power per square in marius was in no ay has strong has kaz, n anyone who thinks marius in power per square inch of pure strength is stronger than kaz dont know what their talking about. I dont no who am i maybe zadrunas could of competed against him n held him a bit well nvr no who am i all hyperthetical lol...........

    • This is a very late answer, but I think Kazmaier from 1981 (before his pectoral injury) would be the strongest Pound for Pound today, but not the strongest in absolute strength. Give him a year or two and he would make anything possible. He would be a top contender for both the Arnold and WSM for sure, but I'm not sure how he would perform against Shaw, Savickas, Björnsson and Hall, surely give them a hard time though!

    • 2 of his titles were against some very weak fields of athletes (2005 and 2007) compared to what came in 2009. In 2006 and 2008 respectively, only Pfister as the fortunate yet great '06 winner and Poundstone as the very close '08 first runner-up were a real threat to his dominance. As the other threatening big guys went to IFSA after the WSM and IFSA split. His best wsm victories, to me, are his first in '02 and second in '03 with such big margins of respectively 8 and 20 points ahead, especially considering the quality of the athletes he was against.
