Boulder Harbor Refilling August 3rd 2023 | Lake Mead Drought Update BEFORE & AFTER
Boulder Harbor | August 3rd, 2023: Not even 1 week after releasing our latest BEFORE & AFTER update showing Boulder Harbor dry (watch here 👀👉 • Lake Mead RISING! Boat... ) we returned to the lake again this evening to see historic Boulder Harbor starting to REFILL AGAIN! This once popular launch area has been dry and abandoned since around July of last year, when drought and overuse downstream drained Lake Mead so low that water could no longer enter the channel. Is this the beginning of a significant recovery? Stay tuned as we continue to track these changes and where the water will leave it's mark this year.

It's coming, it's coming!! We'll, did you get your kayak in the water? I'm going to go out to Stewarts Point in a couple weeks to do a little fishing. I can't wait to see what it now looks like out there. It was pretty bad the last time I went out there.
An interesting and well presented video. Of course, according to The Compact, Mead still 'owes' huge amounts of water downstream to wherever, to be delivered not later than September 30th. As things stand we are 86% through the Water Year and Mead has delivered just 75% of its quota. Powell has a 75% of average inflow for this time of year and has already reached 100% of its legal requirement for release to Mead. I'm guessing the managers at Powell will now release only as much as is coming in ie ~7500 cfs. Mead is now pretty much at its peak (1062) for 2023 and will drop substantially as they try to meet the 9 maf by Sept 30th deadline.
I've been trying to start tracking those numbers again because I know it's about time for Mead to "deliver" now. Thanks for including that data👍 USBR was saying 1065 was their goal for September, but they didn't mention how much they would give up from Mead after that. I guess we'll see...
@@mojo.adventures Yeah, Mead is pretty much at 1063 now - it's still coming up one foot per week - so they could hit 1065 by the end of August. 2.2 million acre feet still has to go downstream in the next seven weeks though.
Keep filling up - until the dam overflows start happening.
Yes! Funny you mention that, I've been digging up news reports from 1983 people were mad at the USBR for poor management because they let Mead overfill. I don't think anyone would complain this time!
@@mojo.adventures Govt hubris (ie over-educated, under-intelligent officials) and common logic were not apparent to the local population who would have thrown these stoops out on their ear. Now is the time to reverse all of the stoopid (i.e, Stalin and Hilomodmir protocols killing off 4M Ukrainian farmers and populations) and returning valid officials that listen and actively respond back to the people of the nation - for which they were elected, appointed, and employed (!!!).
