  • I heavily disagree with modifying the wind. As you saw yourself, wind stalls very often, therefore the build should take that case into account.

  • Not sure if you know, but you can reclaim the shrubs up on the mountain behind the eco/air spot. Area reclaim doesn't work for some reason, so you need to do the "reclaim all of this type" command. On grid it's: hover over one of the reclaimables then alt+e+left click drag to select all of the same type of object in the circle. It's the same way you reclaim windmills scattered around your base with having to manually queue the reclaim commands.

  • Metal wise a Basil is a better choice, regardless of faction. For armada it's the same cost as the hounds but doesn't need the extra 2900 metal for the factory, so break even there in metal. For Core it's cheaper than the 15 sheldons you'd make, the price is almost half that of the facility plus the sheldons. Either way you need time to build the factory + units/LRPC. So it's faster overall, cheaper to build (metal wise)., and it's also more impactful. A single 2k damage LRPC round will kill virtually anything T2/T1 while having a nice AOE to it. The range is great enough that it will be 100% recovered metal most of the time whenever you're done as well. Which is a far cry from the lost metal of the sheldons/hounds you may or may not recover. Just ask yourself, which is scarier. 15 hounds at ~18 minutes or an LRPC pounding your frontliners to dusty bits in the same time. The answer should be clear =)

  • I wonder how good this strat would be if a few players linked a constructor onto one of yours and had their eco help building. Or if the other players tried to make sure to either give or overflow eco to the tech player to hyper build them up. All they have to do is hold the line, if they can hold or stall the line long enough for you to start pumping out a t2 economy and giving allies that help.

    • My addendum would be that if you get that first AFUs up then I'd pivot to making at least four fusion reactors and handing them immediately off to the frontline players. Frontline players getting a protected fusion a little more than 10 minutes in would be game changing for them. Getting an advanced energy converter with that would be a turbo boost on their consistent production.

    • @@osamaal-humaimidi1481 There's a lot of team play optimization that can be done by cooperatively building and equalizing team economy in the early game. Like if players were huddling and trying to maximize working together then the concentration would be on making sure the team gets a maximum of mexes as soon as possible then making sure that the mexes are redistributed according to greatest need. I'm surprised how often on Straits people will leave a mex spot undeveloped within team controlled territory or uncontested territory. Like sure, there's reasons to be annoyed if a team member gets really greedy and takes and squanders all the mexes on the map before their team members can get any, but there's a certain strategy possible where a player is dedicated to building infrastructure for the team while the front focuses on microing units and managing unit production. The question becomes which team can get the infrastructure up faster. Somewhere between start and about 20 minutes, the players have many reasons to be playing as if they're independent and can't rely on someone else to take up slack, but somewhere between 5 minutes and 30 minutes, the backline can merge their economy with other players on the team to turbo charge the team members that are under threat. Early game handouts of constructors, res bots, a wind or solar here or there, rushing to build a mex that you hand off not more than 30 seconds later to someone else can absolutely make or break a game for a team. The calculus is only "would I be able to give a larger contribution faster if I kept this now" as to whether you hand off a solar or wait to hand off a fusion.

    • I agree with this wholeheartedly, if it took 90 mins of attempts to finally give in and edit the game files this strategy is not at all a 10 min Afus. Now if you can get lucky and get each player to donate 1-2 wind turbines…

    • The answer here is luck. As Drongo says, this video is the result of editing game files to create a consistent wind run, and it is the end result of several failed attempts to demonstrate a possibility. This is basically what speedrunners call a tool assisted run that is a proof of concept. Actual AFUs timing for real players using real wind conditions during a standard match will likely be later than 10 minutes due to that wind variability. A lot of that variability could be reduced by exploiting tidal, but the problem there is going to be speed of constructors due to water. Still that means on Straits either the players near the pond or the beach side player might be able to do a consistent AFUs around 10 minutes. The sea players should be able to absolutely scale faster than land players due to the marginal benefits of sea power and naval energy converters.

      @KAClown@KAClown10 ай бұрын
    • Sea battles are so intense that building your eco on sea before winning the sea is risky. Its safe to say that a 10min afus on most maps is unlikely

      @Isoweb1000@Isoweb100010 ай бұрын
    • @@Isoweb1000 the sea players have access to either the Haven or the Oasis. They produce +300 energy per tick; they cost comparable to 15 tidal generators and produce energy comparable to that, and three or four of them are more than equivalent to a naval fusion plus they're anti-nuke and have two aircraft landing pads; they can be quite dangerous when they have a swarm of air escorts set to repair when they're under 80%; the air pads have 1000 build power and very quickly repair the escorts. Gunships, torpedo bombers, and scouts set to guard them make them very powerful for any sea engagement. Their mobility as air pads and anti-nuke should not be underestimated. I am surprised I don't see more higher level players in the current meta treating them as eco units in a proper eco strategy, and the fact that all the air players are treating their air as absolutely disposable explains a lot about why a lot of players think air is mostly worthless. Sea players also have access to the naval energy converters which are strictly better than the land based energy converters. Their energy and metal production even on maps with NO metal patches for mexes is strictly better than land players. Sea players are literal powerhouses when they are played right.

I'm already an RTS player that knows how to react, read the front, backline, etc. IF you're new to RTS, it isn't DRONGO's responsibility to train you up to be a competent player. He's very entertaining, fun and had some great insights. There is BAR content you can watch but it's not as fun to consume. I got called a DRONGO for the first time yesterday and it was an honor SIR. Drongo built a fast Afus that must mean Afus is always best...". For the love of whatever you find holy or not, people stop going fast Afus unless your very skilled or know absolutely that you can (aka scouting the enemy). I RARELY build fast Afus both on strait and glitters, I backline a lot and im at the front helping by the 9-11min mark with 1 fusion and 1 advance converter. After that its all feel from there. Most of the time I end up building 4 fusion with 5 advance convert with an anti nuke mixed in their. This is with me pushing with units at the same time. Mind you all Im only 32 average true skill and in most games im 1st or 2nd in metal/eng income. When making my first Afus it builds very quickly because i already have a lot of con turrets up and have them eat my fusion to finish it off at the 50%. I think you should have some kinda disclaimer at the start of each Afus video build you do lol.

And losing the comm removes the valuable tool that is a dgun which might come in clutch. The antinuke is also quite selfish, which is going to hurt your air player who is generally energy starved. There's also as some players call "communism builds" which can have significant advantages that Drongo isn't considering, taking advantage of, or advocating here.
