    • Having so many players is awesome as well. When we go to Arenas with 4 or 5 people on our team, it is easy to see those that are carrying and those that are being dead weight. Resulting in more toxicity. 25 players mean it is much harder to tell people apart. Only the collective exists. I want to play this.

    • This game has so many great features like that, you can see allied construction queues, there's the drawing and labeling pings like Winter mentioned, and there's tons of great control and macro features as well. This game makes it really hard to go back to other RTS games, it's just too good!

    • @@KraziEyevin Yeah, and not a studio behind it as such, but gamers. It is still a bit of a niche game, it's not the huge well known game like some C&C games for instance were in their day, but then again, this is probably the most successfull current RTS, it has a serious following. They're doing what studios apparently can't or at the very least won't do. And yeah, they added extras but also things you'd think should be more of the norm nowadays.

  • To really hammer it home just how well optimized this game is The framerate we were seeing from most of the players, and the time dilation as well (a few even said in chat that it took a few seconds for orders to go through), is the kind of stuff you might normally see as a standard issue occurence in both Supreme Commanders and the space-based successor Planetary Annihilation. These are games with playercaps, framerates they hit when running a couple thousand units across 16 players in an 8v8. Beyond All Reason hits these frames at 25v25, with 9k+ units on the map. If you play the game "normally" at its typical scales, even a bad computer could run it smoothly with potato mode turned on. There are very, very, very few games in general that can boast that degree of performance- let alone do it with this level of graphical fidelity (and this is the *lowest* settings, and it still looks pretty dang good!)

  • For reference, the land that Blue lost was ~100k energy. They were making 460k at that point. Red was capped at ~360k on land, and they were losing sea. It was pretty over way before this just because I think Red overcommitted to attack land, which wasn't even close to worth it considering how much Blue had at sea. If red had expanded more eco in the ocean instead of spamming as many experimental units, this would have been a very different game.

  • Honestly you should do a review on Zero-k, it's the more fleshed out predecessor to BAR on the same engine. Made by RTS players for RTS players.

  • As someone who was just introduced to your content, I just want to say you are truly an inspiration. You really showed me that anything is possible…The fact that someone with your voice has made it a career to talk…truly amazing.

  • so awesome seeing an identical replica of total annihilation in 2023 graphics....its crazy I still remember all the old school names of the units too. Honestly Im totally fine with it if thats what it takes to make this happen long term. Ill never forget though, juggernauts aka KROGOTH experimental battle mech. Ah good ole CORE vs ARM. Big Bertha battles across maps. Absolutely love it. Thanks for highlighting this Winter I would have never known about it otherwise

  • I remember back in the day with planetary annihilation coming out, it was wonderful, it did miss to make it stable and competitive enough to bring people in.

  • Can we talk about how much of a technical achievement it is for this many people to duke it out without crashes, desyncs or performance problems? Something NO AAA studios can't get right.

  • Blizzard really knocked the new Starcraft Expansion out of the park with this. So well done Metzen, Morhaime and co.

  • Was a fun game, but I choked on building out resources in the winter to stop the assault. Thought we were coming back at one point... lol. That was me at 56:30 underwater with the com. Was hoping to Dgun from shore, but the battleships went by too fast. =[

  • crazy how well this game is made especially by community members. Even at 12-20 fps that Winter is getting while spectating. It still looks highly playable. But I guess back in the day og C&C ran at like 15fps and that was fun to play.
