Toyota GR Supra vs Nissan Z | A Real JDM Battle

2024 ж. 19 Мам.

We compare the new 2023 Nissan Z against the 2022 Toyota Supra. Which sports car will prevail, the Japanese-inspired German Supra or the pure-bred Nissan Z? With nearly 400HP and a price tag of around $52,000 these may be the highest performing cars for the price. We drive the street, track, and throw them on the dyno to see which is king.

Considering the minds behind both Nissan and Toyota’s sports car development, its interesting to see how they played out almost exactly like the historical versions did. • Mark and Jack, Another Masterpiece, very, very well done. It doesn't get much better than this. Great comparison video, in depth, in my opinion this Motor Trend level. Love the editing work as well, the arcade machine JDM vs JDM. Most important, great job being honest. It makes me sad the Supra is basically a German car, it is synthetic, I would have like to see Toyota do it 100 percent their way. Happy Nissan is keeping the Z alive, and doing it their way, that is the one I probably would go with, however for 50 grand The Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers of today have improved so much over the years. I enjoyed how at the end you included the 86. 86 and BRZ are fun cars, however in that case I may go with the hardtop Miata RF. You guys covered this so well. Great job once again and I will always support this channel on Patreon. Mark, Look Forward to hopefully one day a Rotary Engine/ Mazda RX-7 in depth video. I know it will be great. Thanks for the hard work and time put into this, take care, Rich p.s. People if you like this channel show some support on Patreon. These guys are leaving us a great library of information on these cars, trucks, vans, and suv's that they review.

  • You guys make the best automotive content on youtube and it's really not even close. There's one other channel that probably rivals you in production quality, but you guys really stand out in the time spent expanding on the intricacies on the technical side and what it means to actually use and own these vehicles. I also really appreciate your sense of humor and showing yourselves which keeps it fun and real, without making it all about you. You've threaded the needle between education and entertainment and in turn made the perfect content. Keep it up! P.s. I'd love to buy a shirt when they are back in stock

  • @23:34 Funny, I personally I absolutely love that about the Supra. The short wheel base combined with the mountain of torque makes it feel very rear driven for lack of better words. I can powerslide all over town in it and that *to me* is one of the reason the Supra is such a fun street car. The razor sharp steering, great exhaust note, snappy trans, comfy seats and everything else are just cherry on the cake.

    • I've been trying to understand which car I would prefer since I don't mind modern stuff due to some of it being surprisingly amazing while I also enjoy older because I learned to drive and still prefer manual transmission, despite also loving how snappy and quick some of these newer automatics have gotten... so I guess I'll just have to quit while I am ahead and go find me like a $80K more expensive mercedes or just outright say screw it and go for even more than that... after all, can't get enough... then I also need to get about $100K to add mods and another $50K+ to fuel and maintain it, and all of that in cash so I don't have to care about any depreciation, then build it at a legendary tune shop, then I will be set for a while... now first I just gotta make that cash real quick and I wont have to choose between the Z or Supra since I'll just find a clear winner in an entirely superior price bracket lmao... why do they make it so hard to choose... could save me so much money... Edit: I found what I want, I think... The new Porsche 911 GT3 Wish me luck making that dough, it seems I will certainly need some...

  • Amazing video as always. I love how you guys get into the technical nitty-gritty with a splash of feeling. Both cars are amazing and it really comes down to what your wants are. Do you want a track car you can use on the street ala Supra OR do you want a street car you can track (Z). Personally, I lean more towards the Z. But now that I think about it, the Supra is great for drivers (like me) who has always wanted to own a BMW but didn't want to pay the BMW tax.

    • The Z has a "saddle bag" gas tank. This is only an issue on long sweeping right-turns at high speeds. I've never noticed it on the road, even flying dangerously through mountain passes such as Sitgreaves Pass in Arizona on Old US 66. Z1 Motorsports sells a kit for $550 that is supposed to cure the issue.
