After many years and many request, I finally review an Islander on the channel. Marc is a super nice guy, but does that translate into super nice watches? Well, what do you think? Cheers, Jody
Thanks for the fair shake, Jody. I appreciate your hard work and review. Shirt looks great!
I knew of your shop for mod parts, but I was unaware of your watch brand. I really like what you've done. Your modding experience is clear in giving the customer a great looking watch with everything they could want for a reasonable price, but also giving them the option to mod it and make it truly unique. I will definitely be checking out more of your stuff!
Marc, i want to buy this actual watch if it's being returned to you. Absolutely love the colors you chose.
Damn. He was a little hard on you. I love my timepieces from you Marc! They're great value for the money. The Red October is my favorite. To both you and Jody, keep doing what you're doing. Amazing work.
@@jtec99 it's been sold
One of the most beautiful watch I’ve ever seen 😍
Marc is just so darn kind....it is refreshing to see a brand exist based on the genuine love of horology and the passion of the owner.
His dork level is off the charts, you know he's genuine
This brand exists because Marc saw an opportunity to make money as the SKX range were being discontinued, he openly tells us this. It's definitely a passion project for Marc but lets not get all teary eyed about it, it's an insult to the guy and his business acumen
My 1 experience with LI watches was excellent. Class act.
@@morganthedruid1 Yea, he started the brand, because a large part of his sales was from the modding community, and he was worried with the loss of the SKX, that there would be no platform for which to sell mods. This is why almost all his watches are interchangeable with SKX aftermarket parts. However, It doesn’t take anything away from how awesome of a guy he is.
Gonna buy an Islander just help Marc out -- he's killin' it.
It’s literally exactly what I thought Jody would say about Islander. Thanks for getting it in and thanks to Marc for sending it in. You’re both a couple of stand up gentlemen in a hobby that seems to be full of the opposite.
Itd be a really good conversation if Jody joins the chats between Marc and TGV (all 3 are my favorite watch dudes on this plat). I like all their takes on watches and you can tell they have a true passion of the hobby because they can talk about $30 watch and a $6K watch other than just what’s on the spec sheet. Thats the crossover we need! Itd be like the Avengers
‘…in a hobby that seems to be full of the opposite.’ What. A. statement. So true
I have 10 Islander watches and love them all! Love that you are finally reviewing one. Best values in the industry. Unbelievable quality control and specs.
Did you get the cherry blossom diver?
@buddhagunz what's your favourite of the bunch?
@@Sam_D I see your point, but “a proper” watch? 😂 Are you sure you don’t have some sort of fetish?
@@Sam_Di have to agree. One, maybe 2. But having so many with a name that not alot know about ruins the feeling for me.
@@shawn1928 the range master
I'm kinda surprised you didn't ask for the green and white one.
I left it up to Marc, he should know his best stuff! I think this one is pretty sweet, for sure.
@@JustOneMoreWatchMarc is really into blues and white. When you get a chance, check out the blue dialed Squale he wears often - especially in the warmer months. He usually pairs it with a white strap & it looks awesome ⌚😎🤙
This colorway reminds me of Marc's beloved Squale ...
Perfect colours for a Scottish guy 🏴 👌personally I prefer the orange, & No I’m not from Essex 😂 @JustOneMoreWatch 😎
Man, no matter how much I move up in the hobby and going luxury, I just cannot stop watching your videos and wanting some of the affordable kings you’re reviewing. Such an amazing channel Jody! Kudos!
"Mawk" from long island watch is such a stand up dude. And his new designs are incredible. Great video as always!
LOL Mork
I picked up a 38mm diver a couple of years ago from Marc that has a gorgeous yellow dial (ISL-24?). It's still one of my favourite watches. Love the burnt orange dial on the Northport.
Its always a pleasure watching a JOMW review as you know it will be fair, transparent and entertaining so well done! Big shoutout to Marc as he's done a fabulous job growing the Islander brand and his business but I can't help but feel that the range has ballooned out and the lack of minimum 2 year warranty is a let down for the asking price... 👍
I think a lot of the watches he's been releasing are rather limited runs that quite often sell out. One of the criticism I can think of is that the Long Island Watch web page seems to keep the discontinued and other sold out models on the lists. It makes it unwieldy to look through the catalog. I have one of his "Hexad" bracelets on my Samurai and it's a 200% improvement over the stock steel bracelet.
@@swilkobarfingtoniii1642there’s a “Stock” drop down. Just pick “In Stock” and all your troubles are over.
Marc is killin it. Fairly certain what he’s done with Islander in such a short time has exceeded everyone’s expectations.
Mark has always struck me as a genuine gentleman, and this video has not proved me wrong. I really like his watches, and one will probably end in my collection in not too long.
Great review, i respect how you remain fair and objective even with a friend of yours 🙌🏻
Wearing my ISL-87 Mitchel Field watch right now. Fantastic watch, fantastic service from LIW.
I currently have three Islanders from Marc starting with the ISL-02, and I am pleased with the interaction with Marc and the experience of buying many other watches (lots of Seiko!) and bracelets from Long Island Watch. It is pretty cool to observe the evolution of Islanders dials, case backs, and bracelets over the course of three or so years. like many of us watching this channel, await the next model of the Islander. Great review, Jody, as always.
I have always had exceptional experiences when dealing with Marc. He has personally answered customer service inquires at hours well past closing time on the east coast. To put it briefly, he's not happy with the purchase until YOU'RE happy with the purchase. Because of his dedication to his customers, I'm trying to decide which one will be my third Islander.
Got my flightmaster from Island Watch a few years ago and it still runs fine and stays in rotation. Haven't had the chance to purchase an islander yet, though there will surely be one that I can't say no to soon enough. Mark has a great reputation where I'm from and is always working to keep standards very high for the price point of his products!
Kinda have to admire Marc and what he's created and become. Nice watch, I'm liking the full lume dial that I've seen poking around.
I bought an Islander ISL-02 diver as my first automatic watch. Marc was so nice and very helpful with my many questions. He's my "go to" for affordable watches. Marc is a class act. Thanks for the review.
Yes, finally!!! And reviewing their best model, IMO!
Well, I asked Marc to send me whatever he liked, and this is what I got. I think he agrees with you therefore!
I have the black Northport and I love it! The dial texture is subtle in black but noticeable at certain angles/lighting and the grey bezel is unique and adds some character. I sometimes wish I had gone with one of the more colorful variants but the black makes for an excellent go-to watch, regardless or outfit or season. Excellent value for money IMO and I always love to support Marc on his journey to becoming a top microbrand 👏 Thanks for the review Jodi!!
My problem with these is that they all remind of a Seiko in some way. This case looks too similar to a 62MAS and seems to be emulating the Grand Seiko Omiwatari dial, among others.
Before watching this, I'll just say that I bought a ISL-154 Black/Grey Northport 3 months ago & it has not left my wrist. Hits every beat that I wanted a 62MAS for, with specs that are better than SPB143 in nearly every way!
I have this exact Islander Northport and I love it! The dial is stunning, its the perfect summer watch. And very comfortable for my 6.75 in wrist.
I live out on Long Island so its always great seeing a local brand get reviewed on the channels I love watching, even though Im not a fan of homages.
I happen to own this exact same Islander, along with three other Islander watches. They are all great and very much worth the money. Hope to see you review more of them in the future!
I own 3 Islanders….all great! Plus, Mark has the best customer service in the business!
I have the orange version on a oyster style bracelet. It definitely adds well needed color to my collection. Its a great summertime piece. My only minor grips are the logo and branding take away from the look of the excellent dial. Also the bracelet, while not bad at all, it just feels a bit on the cheaper side. Honestly I'm totally happy this watch anyway.
I absolutely love my Islander. I have the samurai ish one with the full lume dial. Next I am getting the same watch, just with the "Great wave of Kanagawa" dial. I also have 2 different bands from him that I put on mine and my sons casio duros. Love his stuff.
Worlds collided with this review! Both your channels are my favorites!
Agreed!
It's like worlds have collided! Two of the nicest people in the watch enthusiast world represented here. Marc is a great guy and I'm pleased to have an Islander in my collection among the other pieces I've acquired from Long Island. And I'm seriously considering adding this one; that color scheme is absolutely amazing! Enjoy it Jody!
I've been wondering about these watches! Thank You, Dr. Jody!
I got the Seafoam color in the first release, which sold out in about a day. I still love it, and recently put it on white rubber for the summer. A great combo. I have other Islanders and have bought several other watches from Marc, going way back to my first Bambino. Needless to say, I am a big fan. Thanks to both of you for doing this review!
I'm sure Marc would have eventually started his own brand but, when Seiko axed the SKX line, there was such a demand from from the majority of his clientele (mainly SKX modders)for an alternative, I believe that spurred him to starting his brand when he did. When he came out with the ISL-08 (SKX yellow dial equivalent), I bought one. I've had a few different models/designs since he started his brand. Never been disappointed with any of them. Ones I sold were due to change in taste or necessity. I currently have 3 different designs & just bought a 4th today (a model that's not being released for another 2 weeks) being "premiered" at the Chicago Windup. It's a gorgeous 🥰 piece. ⌚😎🤙
Great to see an Islander on the channel. I have several Islanders in the collection and I can say, Marc really is one of the nicest guys in the business.
I love the cool, eye-catching ice blue color of this watch; it's perfect for lounging on the beach and enjoying a bit of skin diving. 🍎
Marc is my watch sales hero. You are my watch review hero. This is a match made in heaven.
I actually really like the case finishing. I must admit from looking at them online I thought they were very generic. I’ll have to have a bit more of a look into them
I just came back from the Windup watch fair. One of the many impressions left on me was how the Islanders looked much better in person than they do in online images.
They really do look very ordinary online. Not sure how much better they could look IRL.
I think I saw Marc describe the brand as an enthusiast brand, which I think is pretty accurate, it’s almost flawless.
I'm wearing my Northport right now. I have the Seafoam Green fade dial(ISL-155), and absolutely love it. The bezel action is superb, the sapphire bezel makes it feel so much more premium, the very adjustable bracelet gives a perfect fit, and I just love the aesthetics of the dial. I had this watch on my wishlist since I first saw it, but it was always out of stock, so I did something I had never done before which is sign up for the "Notify me when in stock" email. Bought it within 5 minutes of receiving the in stock email.
Jody, a huge thank you for reviewing an Islander. The quality to price ratio is very hard to match. The excellent customer service after the sale is fantastic! Marc is a genuinely humble and kind man that goes way beyond what is common today in the retail industry. I have experienced his exceptional customer service personally and he is my first choice when looking for another watch. I have been subscribed and watching your channel for some time now and I really enjoy your style of critiques as well as your honesty. You and Marc have much in common. Well done as always!🥃
It's so beautfully done, thanks for reviewing this
I really enjoyed Marc's videos when first getting into the hobby. Super informative and not at all gatekeepy. I bought my SKX from long island watch back in 2018. I don't really like their logo but their prices are hard to beat. I picked up an ISL-81 second hand and it's gotten a lot of wrist time. It is insanely comfortable on a Watch Steward strap.
I've used Long Island Watches several times, but not purchased an Islander as yet. However, I'd have no doubts about getting one. I've watched a fair amount of Marc's content and he really knows his stuff. Additionally, I believe he assembles his products in the US, so has a closer connection to quality control etc. I've found Micro Brands a bit hit and miss - but not Islander.
I think he's killing it in the Dial area. I just wish i would see some dressier hands on his dress watches
Having this blue one, the sea foam green, and the purple/black one in my collection I can confirm the north port is a great watch and is well worth your money. Glad you finally have one for your collection!
Which one is your favorite
Can't believe you're not sending the t-shirt back, you know damn well that was a loaner. Dangit Jody! :) Thanks! I always thought these seemed like great value for money, despite being out of my meager price range. Cheers.
I definitely don't mind having a Islander on my wrist. Got an Omega, a Hamilton, Tissot's and several German brands. But I have 6 Islanders!
Great looking watch and I love that dial texture 👌🏻
I've been VERY happy with every Islander I have purchased. Great review!
I have purchased seven watches from Marc and would have made the trip to Chicago to meet him in person, but had other commitments this weekend. Your point about on-the-fly adjustable clasps is spot on. I just ordered my 4th Zelos watch. On-the-fly adjustment is becoming must-have for me.
Marc is awesome and so are his Islanders. He's a watch geek making watches for fellow watch geeks that come complete with all of the mods a watch geek would need to add to a stock Seiko, but at a price that beats said stock Seiko. Nice, fair review - glad to have you in the LIW club, Jody! I have a few Islanders (two 38's, emerald and pan am, and three Bayports, black, grey, & green, and his Spinnaker Croft collab) and really like wearing them. I love my Bayports as a sort of cost effective everyday BB fill-in, but like the symmetry 9f the Northport with the 6 o'clock date 🤷🏼 Those 38mm SKX013 homages (and they ARE *HOMAGES,* not clomages, bc he's put thoughtful upgrade into the Islanders) are really top notch for weekend/casual wear. Great review as usual. I like finding out my watchtubers are in touch w/ eachother (bravebeaters, urban gentry, JOMW, Marc @ LIW, Mad Watch Collector, etc. - sorry to the 3-5 others I've omitted, just going off the top of my head)
A great honest review Jody. That’s why we keep watching.
Finally an Islander! Got job Jody. I like these watches and am a frequent visitor to his website to see what he's pumped out next. My only gripe with his stuff are the colourways. But, if they were conventional colours they might look too much like the bigger brands. Saying that, his gold dial GMT has caught my eye.. maybe I will finally take the plunge and buy it. If you're open to suggestions, try and find time to review a Charlie Paris next, or a Wolbrook. Thanks Jody for another great video!
I have like 5 or 6 Islanders. I love them, even bought the Islander jubilee bracelet for the Casio Duro. (You should check out the assembled in USA quartz one.)
No other watch reminds me of summer at the beach more than the teal-blue version on this watch. Love it! Mark is a legend!
Hi Jody, nice review. I also provided feedback to Marc regarding the movement printing on the dial as that is the only reason I didn't purchase the seafoam green variant. I hope that detail is corrected in future releases.
Thanks, I've been so patient 😊
I recently picked up one of the Jubilees that he's done for the Citizen BN0150. Under £60 including shipping to the UK and brilliant customer service. The bracelet is great value for money and really boosted the look of my humble Citizen. Highly recommend his company and the Scottish Ausdie reviewer...😝
Love Marc, love Long Island, love many of the Islander designs and have purchased three. Unfortunately I have had absolutely brutal luck with the NH-35s in every one and all I was offered in terms of service was that he “could put me contact with a watch mechanic”: Warranty is definitely not a strength. That was somewhat disappointing considering how much money I’ve spent on that website. (Though since a lot of it was before the website change I get no “credit” for it.) Regardless, they’re amazing lookers and spec monsters. This sku specifically is a real nice one, but once I noticed the numerals on the dive bezel canting downward at the center I could not unsee it. I really like how the designs are finding their own look.
Can you elaborate on what your issues with the NH-35 are?
Happy that you have finally got hold of an Islander...... incidentally this ISL195 is also my first Islander and I love it. Great content as usual, hope to see more reviews of Islander watches in the future.
I tried this exact watch model on at the Windup Watch Fair in Chicago last weekend. It was really great on wrist and looked nice. It's definitely got that summer watch feel.
Great to see a review, i understand your criticisms and he had to know the warranty one was coming if he's ever watched the channel! At the same time i think @islandwatch has two things going for them - awesome quality Seiko homages and some interesting new designs emerging.
Lovely refreshing model ! The dial texture is really nice.
I love the sea-foam green one. I’d put it on a white FKM and have the perfect summer, or tropical vacation, watch. Love that Mark is using a 9015 in this, for the price.
I have always admired Marc and Islanders. We get slaughtered on the exchange rate here in Canada plus the uncertainty around duty. I just ordered bracelets for two of my Duros. Marc seemed to be the only one who knew what I wanted and there they were sitting on his site! Now that I have some “Crown Points” I hope to one day grab an Islander for my collection! Great review Jody. Merci!!
I think this looks stunning. As well as the fabulous textured and gradient-blue dial, personally I like the hands and indices - have quite a 62MAS look to them. Thanks for the review.
Very nice. Now I'm thinking about getting this.
That's a beauty. Being a native Islander, I really should own at least one of Marcs watches. Maybe Ill treat myself end of the year. Nice work Marc and great video as always Jody!
This may sound weird but Jody and Marc are probably the 2 men I've spent the most screen time with in my life.
Perfect summer holiday watch
Been long awaiting this review!
Ayeeee! That explains why you are first comment! Ten points.
I have the purple to black gradient one. It somehow finds its way onto my wrist over watches that cost twice as much. I also find the BGW9 blue lume fades quickly but is still visible in the morning in a fully dark room.
Huge fan of Islander watches. I've been able to purchase 4 of them and they are among my favorite watches that I own. You really do get a lot for your money and the bracelets are so nice to size with the micro adjustments.
Great review! I have the Sea Foam green Islander Northport and thinks it's a beautiful timepiece.
Jody, I'm so glad you're finally reviewing an Islander. I love the Northport model so much
Great review Jody. You are consistently on your game! I appreciate how you incorporate compliments and criticism as you wind your way throughout the review. You have a true gift of being amongst the best at your craft. Thank you. Oh, by the way, Mark is a nice person with great customer service with a solid watch.
Jody, we love his honesty!
@@Barbecuejag This review was bought, come on. He donated to his cause, gifted him the watch, he wears a shirt with the islander logo. This is a commercial.
I thought you’d be more excited about this one. That dial and texture is GORGEOUS! Also, the quality of parts Marc uses is top notch, especially the crystal. Can’t find many better watches at his price points.
Eh, sorry mate, it just looks tacky to me.
@@wintermute8315 it may not be your taste but tacky is not a term associated with this watch.
I was waiting for an islander review from you for ages. I ordered one for a friends BD and it’s amazing. Now looking for my own Islander.

Haven’t watched in a while, great to see you brother. Glad to see you are doing well.
I haven't bought one of his watches yet but I did buy one of his bracelets for the Seiko Samurai and it is very nice. Much better than the original!
This is a fair review. This is a nice watch. I think it’s excellent value. I’m delighted to see this very pleasant man doing well with his own brand. It’s also very nice to see honest reviews on KZhead Keep it up both
Marc is killing it. I have a couple Islanders and they’re surprisingly good quality and specs for the price. The blue color gradient on that one is beautiful! I almost bought that one a while back, and after seeing this review, I might just pull the trigger. 😅
I have a number of Marc's Islander watches - dive, dress and field. For reference, I also have a couple of Grand Seikos, a Roxex, an Omega, a couple of Doxas, three Ball watches, and others. Dollar for dollar, Islander watches quality and Marc's responsiveness make for extremely good bang for the buck. I highly recommend Islander watches, Long Island Watch and Marc. Islanders are a tremendous value!
Ive owned and reviewed a few. I love them. A below entry level collector such as myself gets a great watch, for a great price, from a great group of guys in the company. Win all the way around
Glad to see you here, Tommy! I'm a big fan of yours
@@taham33 appreciate it
Great balanced review Jody! Mark should have reviewed your video back catalogue and sent you any model but blue 😅
Hello and welcome! I've had islander on my short list for a while now. I might have to grab their 38mm skx style model. This one is a beaut!
Thank you Jody! I appreciate this review! I have an Islander Brookville and love it. Best to you! Frank in Colorado
looks really nice how can I get one in Spain ? looked on chrono24 but nothing there
Lovely watch, great looking dial. Marc's a good lad & deserves all the great feedback that comes his way.
I have several Islanders, and love them! Lot's of value for Money and Marc has always been great! This one isn't my particular cup of tea, but to each their own. Islander discontinued what I thought was the perfect dive watch (the Islander Southold) which is a shame, but they have lots to offer and I love the ones I have!
As a long time customer of LIW, thank you for your kind review. Marc always provides great customer service, fast shipping and he is always ready to help out with a problem (but you never seem to have any!).
Great review. BTW, I love Islander Watches! Seriously, I like their approach. Daring, affordable &….prestigious. I wear Tag & Tudor BB58 and I get more compliments on that very Islander watch. My wife’s ring needed service & at an International Diamond Center….that watch drew a lot of attention.
Pretty nice looking watch with some great specs. I'd like to see the Islander logo used as the 12 o'clock marker, applied of course.
Bought my Orient Mako & Phoibos Reef Master from LIW...saving up for an Islander. Nice to purchase from a dealer who is passionate about their products!
Marc is the best and so are his watches. I have 8 of them (yes, I have a problem) and every one of them is a gem!! thanks for the review Jody, just another Islander I want now lol
I've been wanting to pick one of these up for AGES!
I have 3 Islander watches and love all of them though there could be some things that could be improved, I think you get more bang for your $$ then those major brands. Plus the purchase feels a bit more personal and your supporting a fellow watch enthusiasts!
Excellent review your the best from Southern California.👍🏾
Great review. I have an ISL-36 and I just love it. I agree with all of the criticisms, but despite that I’ve never been happier to give a brand my money. 6+ months on, I still wear it as much as my more expensive watches. I’m pretty tempted to get a Northport too.
I own a few of the Islander watches and this one and the blue/white color is my favorite. The first time I saw this watch, I knew I was going to buy it. I do agree that the one downside is the bracelet. It does feel a tad light to me, but at this price, it’s not a huge deal. Marc knows how to make a solid watch. He needs to try his hand more with field watches now!
@@gilbertoflores7397 I don’t compare them. Islander and most micro brands are far better.
