About the SKELETON: Inside the oratory were kept the relics of Santa Pulcheria, exhumed in 1671 from the catacombs of Priscilla in Rome. Last year they were moved to the nearby parish church, to protect them from vandalism.
So glad to hear this! I wondered!
Excelente new 😊👍
Also, the extra rooms on the sides of the chapel may also been used as confessionals. Kind of sad, the skeleton was gone, but at least the blessed sacrament on top of the altar remains intact.
So pleased they were saved!Thankyou for sharing this info!
@@rayva1 it woukd of had to be taken away hun to preserve it in case some vandals destroy it
Thank you for your respect in the churches and chapels, Leslie. Because you so often find these holy places in historic homes, I know you may find some factoids interesting (from a 'cradle Catholic' in the know): * the little box in the middle of the altar is called a 'tabernacle,' the most sacred place in the chapel. (Thank you for being kind to these old altars; it means a lot to us Catholics!) * The 'kneelers' would have normally been accompanied by pews right behind them. Likely those chairs in the back were at one time used with the kneelers in the absence of proper pews. During Catholic Mass, participants do not kneel the whole time. But, you're right; the pews and kneelers were not made for comfort, but to help Mass-goers pay attention (i.e., stay awake. 😉) * The "windows" on either side of the chapel with kneelers beneath would have been used most likely by visitors outside the family -- or "overflow." There may well have been benches behind them, as well. * The statue with the broken head is of St. Joseph, the Foster Father of Jesus. In old traditional Catholic chapels, you will always find him on the right side, facing the altar, and the Blessed Mother (Mary, mother of Jesus) on the left side. Many of us sigh with (Holy?) envy at the many Catholic statues, relics, and images you find. Again, thank you for being respectful of them.
Thanks a bunch for sharing your knowledge too.

Amen 🙏 god bless you
@@briandelaney1300 Well said Brian, Thank you
@Lisa Davis, very well explained, thank you!
Kneeling before God shows reverence; lying prostate before Him shows utmost humility. Often, women would kneel from afar or through the ironwork. Sometimes that position was reserved for the nuns. You are a year younger than my youngest son, which makes me feel so old. I love listening to you talk. Lol
@ christine robinson, Thanks for your insightful comments! In regards to the areas concealed behind the ironwork grills, sometimes these areas were also used by high ranking noble men & women, or their families.
Magnificent home i would have love to have seen it when lived in. The ceilings and walls breathtaking. Thank you be safe and love to you
Oh Leslie what a place. You are the sweetest kindness young man I've ever had the privilege to watch and listen to.Thank you,and God Bless you.Love your videos.👍❤️❤️🇺🇸
Beautiful sentiment!
I love these Italian and French homes! Like Leslie said, they really took pride in their work back then! The amount of time spent to paint the ceilings and walls must have been months! I love how the painting on the walls are done because it breaks them up like picture frames. Some walls done need anything else added because they're so beautiful. Like the one down stairs that was pink and soft green!
🌹
Stunning property. The skeleton was the relic of a Saint, which every cathedral and chapel had received from the Vatican, and kept in the Altar. The baby angels are called cherubs or cherubim. In Italy they are called putti. This place shows a lifestyle that is no more, but was elegant and lived with care. It is so sad to see so many fine old mansions just left to decay. So nice to see you with a great sponsor...your skills continue to improve steadily, so keep going and stay safe out there.🖤🇨🇦
Leslie, I'm an Australian and I'm loving shows there's only one other person I watch so thank you please keep doing the homes.i love how respectful not only to the home's but the people who lived in these places
This place can't be entirely abandoned if someone is cutting the grass. Thanks for the tour--as always, your videography is outstanding!
1997.. the paper is as old as you because you are so young but you are an old soul. I’m sure people have told you you’re an old soul ...that’s a good thing. Love your videos keep it up!
What a good taste this family had, so elegant , luxurius simplicity, and the colours !
What an incredible find. This palace is so beautiful inside with the exquisite painting of the walls and ceilings. Loved the chapel so authentic and glorious. The iron work was amazing. Can I say I felt a little sad for whomever was sick in that area with the 3 small beds you could just feel the patients there and that they had been very bad in health. It was like an imprint was left. Wonder if you could sense this as well. But on a more positive note this was truly a remarkable opportunity for you to share with us and was breathtaking with its artwork and architectural design features. Thanks for sharing. Please stay safe. We love you guys. Great job. Again you have the most wonderful way about you. And you take us on a journey into the past in such a sincere lovely way. Bless you guys. Love from Maryland USA. ❤🥰🤗😊❣🙏😇
I can see that at 22:22 , a woman is seated on a chair reading, who is she? Leslie and Jordy, this is by far the most amazing video you ever had!! How I wish I could have seen this beautiful palace in all its glory back then, so grand & beautiful, i love the painted walls with intricate designs, truly very Italian!! Nice reading the comments of your viewers, so many good and useful information they share which make your documentaries more colorful and interesting!! Hoping many more subs for you, your voice Leslie is so so cool and Jordy so good in videography. I am from the Philippines!!!
Hi there Leslie - I think the strange side rooms or alcoves in the chapel where people could pray on the benches behind the iron grids looking in at the main congregation is about, I'm afraid to say, the poorer members of the household, servants, cooks, grooms, etc being allowed to attend the chapel services but not being allowed to mingle with the family. Much further back in history, I found this information, which is not relevant to the chapel as such but related to separating congregations and interesting on its own account: "Although we now know that there is very little risk of contagion, people in the Middle Ages were terrified of contracting leprosy and lepers were forced to stay well away from everyone else even to the extent of observing church rituals through a little hole called a leper's squint or leper's hole." There are many UK churches with these weird little windows.
@@briandelaney1300 May I ask what the child is holding in the statue with Saint Joseph? I thank you for your explanations in this and your other comments.
@@sharong8511 I do believe it’s a sphere and is meant to represent the world. Jesus, through God was put on this earth in human form to teach us, die and then rise in order to deliver us from our sins. If we ask for forgiveness and truly make every effort to live up to the 10 Commandments he will save us all (The entire World) Mostly... “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Now we are afraid to catch a cough and a sniffle. We’ll put the unvaccinated ones in those side rooms.
You may have the universe. If I may have Italy! Your opening lines are so poetic, Lots of thanks and love from Sri Lanka
Just magnificent!! ❤ The Italians have great taste and style. Wine, quality leather goods, food, ect. Just my opinion as a Christian.., the position of the praying benches is more humbling than "uncomfortable ". I love and enjoy your talents in video photography and hope to donate soon. We here in America are in a bit of a pickle these days. The cost of everything is going up. I know that many countries are suffering as well. 🙏😔 We are praying for our Beautiful Country and the other countries that need our help. Not hand outs. From America with Love, peace be with you. We love your historical history.
This is a beautiful place with all the detailed workmanship. You did an excellent job showing it Lesley.
My dear Lesley! Amazing is the word to describe the Castle . The Architecture is always perfect in Italy 🇮🇹 😍 . I am enjoying your respect and enthusiasm in your narration. Please stay safe and give to Jordy one big hug. 🤩😍🥰😷😘💖❤. Yours parents are proud of you and Jordy too.
Loved this home, it just breaks my heart to see such beautiful architecture just sitting there decaying....thanks for showing us this beautiful property
Hi BROS of Decay/leslie + jordy😘 Happy to see you wearing gloves🖐lol!! Now you can keep touching stuff as you share with us. 🍃This place looks AMAZING! And because of you guys ... we get to see it too! Bye bye Bros of Decay🌺🍃 See you in the next video. Peace.
I really like the emotion you have when you are showing us a place. It’s real and it makes us feel like we are there.
I always look forward to your videos. You explore very interesting and beautiful houses. Thank you Lesley.
So sad to see such beautiful places just left abandoned.
Love this one so very much!!! so many wall paintings decorations , the owner sure had a great taste!!
Amazing! Love to see the architecture, the art, the staircases, railings, and the chapel/memorial for the person who passed away (the skeleton that no longer exists)... thank you so much for sharing this.
Those beautiful decorated pink rooms remind me of similar rooms with the same kind of ribbon decorated patterns in a derelict building that I used to live in West Flanders Belgium in the 1980's. I associate them with the aroma of roses because there was also a soap left behind I think or at least its aroma in the room which I used to experienced on a beautiful sunny day just like in your video. I love the warm glow of the natural light that bounces of the light shades of the yellow interiors in your video. It awakens the place with energy and enthusiasm.
Here for the ASMR...your voice soothes the soul x
Dramatic and visually exquisite opening to the video!
Breaks my heart to see this not lived in and loved!!!
One thing I love about the Italian palaces is the frescos painted on the walls inside of the rooms. Instead of wall paper they painted such beautiful frescos and it's amazing how vivid the colors still remain on the walls. They are still so bright. I also like the doorways between rooms in these old castles and palaces. They look like they are approximately 18" wide. Maybe this was once used as a children's home.
Hey dear Lesley! I really enjoyed this video. The palace is magnificent from the outside , and i really liked the beautiful garden!!!! 🥰 what is really special about this place, is the ceilings and the walls! Very artistic and all the detailsss! Work of art 👌 and really lovely that both of us have the same age as the journal haha! Thank you for uploading this beautiful video , see you next week , be safe and goodnight! ❤👋
Kneelers & pews which are long wooden seats, those are missing. Mass is mostly sitting , parts are kneeling.
It's amazing that beautiful places like that are left to fall to pieces.
Beautiful tour and filled of memory of poeples who had received their last breathe.Thank you for your exploration with love and respect!😘❤🙏👍
Thank you for the wonderful video and those making comments and the education that goes along with it. Saving this video to rewatch for the future. So many interesting artifacts. Appreciate your time to take us along for the tour.
This palace was so beautiful...eye candy!! I loved the wall and ceiling art!! TY!!
This one really breaks my heart. Such beautiful detail and craftsmanship should be preserved.
You always find the most beautiful places! Thank you for sharing these beautiful places!
Leslie, that was awesome!! Such a gorgeous place. I just hope someone comes along and is devoted to saving it for the future. Many thanks!!
Thank you for that amazing adventure. You did a wonderful job showing all the details. Love the drone footage.
The pictures on the wall are called: The Stations of The Cross! That was the dreadful journey He took to Calvery on His way to be murdered on the Cross! That is where He Shed His Precious Blood for the sins of the world and forgiveness of our sins!
Thank you. I was going to post the same
One of the most gruesome fairy stories from antiquity
@@RandomRetr0 yes, what a strange death cult that worships a god who required himself to be sacrificed to himself for actions he knows will be taken as he is all knowing and as he is all powerful has made happen...that he will torture nearly all humans (all but 144,000) for an infinite amount of time for despite the finite nature of the behavior. Also, he is all good...yet created evil and then called his creation (which included evil) good.
I to share Christ with these young man. Jesus died for them too.
Such a beautiful little chapel. The chairs were probably paced behind the kneelers to use during different parts of the Mass and the sermon. Catholics kneel or genuflect to show honor to our Lord and God. The kneelers behind the metal screens were generally used Nun's or other religious. Maybe even a choir. The details in the house itself were beautiful. They gave the palace a true sense of nobility. Thank you and Jordy for your beautiful work.
It looks like the grounds are kept up. I try to imagine what this place looked like when it was first built, and also the family that lived here! Thank you. It is a very beautiful place.
You are so good at what you do guys. You are very blessed in so many ways. I love visiting you. Thank you for another adventure.
It is one of my favorite channel. Excellent videos and very professional guys. Gracias 🇵🇦😎
What fun you have exploring! It is such a great way to observe the past! Thank you for sharing your exploring adventures!
Thank you for this. Great as always!! I would move in this weekend 🤗
Latin mass was offered in the chapel because the altar is facing the tabernacle. The "strange kneeler" was used for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Tabernacle.
not necessarily Latin mass, this mansion could have just been built before Vatican 2 where that was the tradition
Hi there, dear Lesley, Thank you very much once more for taking us viewers on such an amazing tour through this former italian palace. It was really an amazing explore, and I enjoyed watching after the actual lifestream, - taking in a more restful way a closer look at your video. I loved most the still beautiful and remarkably well preserved interior details like the very decorative murals, the old and original ceilings with their special architecture. - You focussed nicely on all these details, so it was possible to see the former beauty of that location. - I also think, like some of the other commenters, that this palace has been transformed into some kind of caring home but not necessarily into a hospital. - This was a fascinating explore, dear Lesley and as always such a pleasure to watch and to listen to your comment. - By the way breathtakingly beautiful introduction with wonderful outside images of this historical building! - Very well done! - Stay safe, my dear friend, and I am already looking forward to your next explore. - Kindest regards also to your dear brother Jordy! Much love from cold and partially snowy Switzerland. - Blessings and kindest regards.
So beautiful..shame it can’t be restored I love your videos...you show so much of the Architect and the details and thank you so much
So beautiful and i really like how respectful you are to these historic places. I am really enjoying your videos and just subbed.🙏👍
This is probably one of the most exquisite finds of your discoveries. The detail and magnificence of the architecture are absolutely astonishing. Great job as always guys! ❤❤❤
Love the architecture and artwork throughout! Great explore! Take care!
Very beautiful thankyou for showing us Lesley
Just subscribed. You guys are great and very respectful, which I truly appreciate ❤
Wow!! Gorgeous place! Thank you for sharing your wonderful explore 😘
Might hd been an old age home by observing those books. Any ways...love ur voice & videos always ❤️
Looking forward to seeing this. Thanks for sharing
What a fabulous house, , the are artwork on the walls is beautiful, thankyou again for sharing it with us
Loved this video as always thank you for sharing lv Ann
Hello, from Ontario, Canada. Your technical skills are so much improved since the early days of your explorations. Your speaking and narration is also so much improved over your first ones. Congratulations. Your curiosity about chapels and religion is remarkable. Your Catholic viewers of this video are generous in their remarks, explaining the significance of the features and images. I appreciate their generosity. Tips for more improvement. Pronunciation of some English words. Example. Chandelier is said like shandelier, with a soft S not a harsh C. Movement of the camera. Slow down the movement. We your viewers want to focus on the wall features. As always, you do fine work and I applaud you for continuing to seek improvement.
Another beautiful presentation. Well done.
Ik kan niet anders zeggen, erg mooi. Dank jullie wel. Onzettend goed gefilmd.
I’m guessing the musical instruments are on the wall because that particular room was the ballroom.
Ik ben nu al meer dan een jaar enorme grote fan en lid van SkillShare omdat er zoveel te leren valt over bijna iedere hobby wat fantastisch is. Alweer bedankt voor deze prachtige rondleiding 🙏💝😁
Think this one is my favorite so far. Absolutely gorgeous
Wow that intro shot with the birds flying off the building.. and that pull away! Fantastic and lucky! 🌟
I love your videos just looking at the architect is amazing. Something you would never find in the US. I'm here in Las Vegas.
Loved of course. Thank you for the interest shown by you, concerning all the details and care.
Hi, Jordy and the Bro’s of Decay families. I enjoy watching your tours of abandoned homes every week. Each one of them leaves behind a different atmosphere. Especially the ones with a lot of pictures and religious artifacts in them. I was just thinking before I watched this video that if you believe that the Bible is the word of God, that Jesus was the son of the living God, and if you received his sacrifice for your sins, you don’t need religious artifacts because you already have all the faith you need.
So georgeous 🥰 love the little Chapel too 💒💕 thank you for such a great Explore ❤
Magnificent mansion with wonderful artifacts, intricate furniture and ironwork
What a wonderful secret adventure... thank you for the lesson in history too... I’m so grateful for the treasures you show people like me. I’m stuck in my own body with my disability but my mind still works xxx. 🥰
Interesting place. Thanks for sharing your adventures Leslie. Very interesting indeed.
ah so sorry i missed your premier, especially as its in Italy. i love just Italy, fantastic work you guys as always I'm jealous
What a place, bet it was grand in its day. hope it can be saved. enjoy your videos. Look forward to the next one. Take care.
Great video. So sad to think no one wants to bring back the beauty to even a small building , true it would be costly but what isn't these days. Thank You. ✌️
Wow, thanks Lesley, what an amazing place!
Nice as always!! 👍 Bella Italia 🇮🇹
Thank you , Great Job as alway's.
Hi from your USA grandmother. I hope you all are doing well! Love you, keep up the excellent work you do. See you next week.🇺🇸🤗
Fantastic house! It looks like it was an old folks home.
Amazing! Thank you! Greetings from Russia!
You guys are wonderful!
Music with the birds flying... Awesome!
this is amazing, im blown away
This is so beautiful. I don't understand why empty. At lease do a bed and breakfast. This Castle needs a family please
Costa to much$$$ upkeep and italian real estate laws are very different not like the USA just nobody can come take this from the family! And that also goes for any furniture! Can't remove it ! It belongs to the family! And you must have permission to be a citizen of italy or special Visas Cost thousands for a upkeep of a castle and tons of money to fix any necessary repairs So not just anyone can take this away from the family has to be a relative and maybe that relative doesn't have the income to do it So it sits
Beautiful! The pictures in the chapel may well have been the “stations of the cross”. Not uncommon in Catholic churches!
Such a beautiful place and so disrespected! I loved your video.
Stations of the cross for Catholics. Also, the bones that were on the altar were what Catholics calls religious relics. Sometimes bones of a deceased saint or person important in the church. The benches you kneel on are called pews Great job Lesley! Love your videos!
Relaxing 😌😎 early today by watching your beautiful work👁️👀💜
That palace was very exquisite! I am really amazed that it looked as good as it did. I wish we could always see what it look like and its former glory. Alas we can only leave that to our imaginations.
Very nice job! And what a breathtaking place it must have been!
Awesome as always
I enjoy watching furnished places more. The ones which were not touched after being abondoned for the 1st time. Thank u for the great work tho I'm a big fan
Great place to discover and look at. Love the video. Mezmorizing
Thanks for the great tour. The building itself is there a true date for being built as many of the buildings of old are older than 1800's
Please be careful!!! You're truly a risk taker. I've noticed in a lot of your videos you refer to items as copper. Just to let you know most are brass...much harder metal than copper. Copper is reddish while brass is more yellow/gold color. Love your videos.
Very good video Leslie very well done I loved it :) xxx
I rewatched their vids ( love how Dutch sounds ) and they don't age. They are as good as they can be ( but with some nostalgia for me (outro music)). That's life.
That was an amazing place and explore.
