Tadej Pogačar and Adam Yates Epic Duel on Jebel Hafeet | UAE Tour Stage 3 2021
Stage 3 of the UAE Tour was the first World Tour level mountain top finish of the season, with the riders finishing on top of Jebel Hafeet, a 10.5km climb of around 7% gradient. Tadej Pogačar began the stage in the leaders jersey 5 seconds ahead of Quickstep leader Almeida and 39 seconds ahead of last year's UAE Tour GC winner, Adam Yates (now moved to Ineos Grenadiers). With Yates' penchant for early attacks, and the numerous strong climbers out of GC contention but hunting for a stage win (Sepp Kuss for example), there was always going to be a big showdown on Jebel Hafeet in this UAE Tour Stage 3 2021.

New vids are super slick, but I kind of miss the crappy MS paint graphics. Nothing says "this is a serious production" quite like an arrow drawn in paint
Same, especially the basic labels he'd do when he paused in on a mountain stage or sprint train
Lmaoooo
Waking up to a new LR video, nice.
Same
Bout to go to bed
LR, Please continue doing this kind of highlights! Promise us!
He has to buy the rights to or be given the highlights from the race organizers, but I believe he has quite a few lined up!
That literal rewind-edit of Kuss’ attack before recapping Stage 1 - the bar has been lifted! many many thanks for making this content.
Apart from ridiculously talented, Pogacar is a very smart racer aswell. He's gonna be unbeatable.
Gonna be honest i cant know for sure maybe hes the most stupid dude in the world BUT he won the tdf with a weak team he cant be that stupid probably need a lot of bike iq
@@philipmeisterl How can he be stupid when he's always spot on with tactics?
@@danteintx7621 thats what im saying i dont inow him maybe hes stupid as fuck but his sports iq is through the roof
Tactics were perfect, they also have a very experienced DS talking into their ear who has a better picture and analysis of what’s going on around them....
5:05 Dear god, that Colnago frame is beautiful.
that new font in the matte gold made all the difference, its stunning
Proud of Pogacar! Congrats Tadej!!
Thank you for including the broadcast details!
You are THE Man. I love your analysis every time I tune in. Thank you for sharing your insights!
I feel the this tour is in the bag for Tadej. Yates taking back 40 seconds on Pogacar unlikely.
Remember the tour? Maybe the same will happen you never know. Even though I agree :)
I think the result was made like in a criterium with your favourite World Tour Pro
Yeah he's the favourite but Yates is a great week long stage racer.
Nice touch listing the broadcasters. Very helpful
These videos are so good, this is definitely my new go to for cycling.
Love watching your vids during this pandemic, keep it up!
Awesome commentary. Subscribed. Youre the go-to for this years races 👍
These highlights by You are just the best @Lanterne Rouge Waaaay better than all the other companies. Please keep it up! What a win for the pro cycling community!
As someone who lives in Abu Dhabi and did cycle Jabeel hafeet , fuck that mountain lol
LOL
Perfect way to start the day
Great video! Been watching LR for a long time. Big fan
Just discovered your channel 😊 Thanks for your insights! Go Adam, local lad!!
Great recap mate. Damn Tadej’s shoe/sock lace up combo looks boss 👌 I actually had to check SammyB and Ewan had made the start after getting dropped in the crosswinds. Nothing but a win will be good enough for either of those two today
These photos are lit.
The new graphics and high quality photo and videos really make the difference when watching your analysis
Got to break up a stressful day with a few minutes of Lanterne reprieve. This is just what I needed to get me through the day and look forward to my own training. Thanks big guy!!!
Awesome to listen Lanterne Rouge
Can't wait for the classics
Very nice! Best commentary out there!
Yes where to watch it schedule! I've never seen that before any where.
Pat yourself on the back mate. Your style and delivery is spot on. Cheers.
That race looks hard as hell
Loving the look mate
So good to have you back. Nu is het Echt wel Koers.
I was still harboring reservations about Pogacar, perhaps last year's Tour win was a fluke, an artifact of his youth and zeal. Nah, he's the real deal. One of the very top elite riders, physically gifted, cunning and hungry.
Cracking content as per
Wow what desert scenery
Great summary and analysis. Thanks. I’d expect Pog to win it now....
It’s the UAE Team’s national tour... they are the big boss for this race and they have to win. In Pogacar, they have the goods.
Beautiful to see eschelons
Production gainz! 👀 Great analysis per usual. But also... rim brake gang? 👀👀
you made a great point yesterday about tadej tactical prowess. In auto racing if a car cant pass one on front on oval even if on back bumbper it backs off to pick up draft and use a slingshot while also already up to a speed impossible usually to jump right on wheel cycling wise as you said kwiato, savvy as any rider has dine it to beat the likes of sagan and gva i think. Its similar to when attacking up a mountain you do so on other side of road to create as much lateral distance to again make the effort to close the distance to the wheel hard enough that when they have already burned there matches contador was amaster at that nibali does it as well on climbs....most do. Pogacar also did it as soon as road went down using his extra weight and power so he would be in front to taking preferred line into decisive 180 degree turn. Great tactics and explanation LR. Quintana couldn't drop froome all tour one year 2014 maybe and actually tried it on about 12% , dropped back tp get a run what a climber in his day, froome still caught him. Its just make the man burn his matches just to get the wheel and get a run on the man who thought it smart to be in front.
Glad to see pogacar on rim brakes!
magisterial topping of the jebel; classy ride by both.
Miguel Bjørk - living for your pronounciation🔥You are forbidden from changing that!👌
UAE tour 2021 now is on hand of pogacar terrible mountain climber this young man💪👍👊
3:47 I bet those overlays took a lot of time!
He could probably make more videos if he went back to using MS paint...
nice!
Thank You Sir for the Sunglasses
@lanterne Rouge what you think will happen if Almeida had some team members who could help and protect him?
I cannot see anyone dropping pogacar on any climb anywhere in the next 5 years
Except at proper altitude I think
Bernal fully recovered in altitude maybe.
Fully recovered Bernal version
If Roglic have a good day then he can make difference.
@@raphaeltiziani7476 yes true
Nice...
Watch the 2019 Tour of California stage 6 finish on the top of Baldy. Higuita has a strong finishing kick but Pogacar manages to always know the right line to take in these types of finishes... How many wins is that now in this same format?
I think the one chance Yates had to win was that point where Pogacar had pulled, Yates attacked and Kuss lost the wheel, leaving Pogacar to close down Yates. When Yates saw Pogacar closing, he should have emptied the tank once Pog was almost on his wheel with another attack. That might have done it.
Almeida has the best pain face in the peloton right now.
GC first and second done and dusted probably be a repeat on Thursday. Only interest who will get third?
What track do you use for your outro music?
Rim brakes for the win👍
Lantern, do you know what on board cameras they are using? The slim white ones. Never seen em before
I watch THE OMLOOP, first WorldTour-race in Europe ! Cobble and climb-time. Possibly VDP vs. Alaphilippe and the Belgian Bunch !!!!!!!
👍
Where was Froome?
Epic pain face from Almeida.
One of the best pain face in the world tour. Aru is still unbeatable tho, funny how when he was costantly in pain he won and now that he looks chill he totally sucks
@@blackpaint9093 True. Aru is the undisputed king of suffer face.
@@pahouseholder it's actually impressive, he litterally dies
If we get a few regular sprint stages, Pogacar has already won. If we get some more crosswind chaos, I'd pick Yates. Ineos always seem to nail it in the crosswinds (except stage 1) but could see UAE getting caught out.
👍👍
Sepp Kuss riding for team in his key years. Let him ride!
For Pogachar to beat Almeida on that TT is very impressive.GC is done
What did Kuss do? Soft pedal to the finish after he popped?
He went and set pace for Harper
Its in the bag for Pogi, unless something out of the ordinary happens or a crash stops him
dude, you should commentate on like a real pro race; you're excellent!
Yates looking good
You look like MIKE from "That Chapter" channel
What happened to Kuss?
What happened to the mullet?
Js in Portuguese are pronounced like in English, so it's J-wow Almeida, not Yao Almeida
Done
Where was seb kuss in the end?
had to go back and assist Harper to keep high GC
Was kuss really dropped or did they call him back to help their GC man?
He got dropped, knew he couldn’t win the stage, so went to help Harper
@@LanterneRougeCycling what Kuss did was moronic He wants to shine
@@unsplash146 he just isnt good enough
Didn't realise there was a 25th hour in New Zealand
Did disc brake won? Asking for a friend.
I thought Yates had the win in the bag but chapeau to Pogacar who had obviously studied the race hand book to make the most of the tricky finish. Sad to see Froome so far back, hopefully he can return to form soon.
When did Adam Yates move to Ineos?
When he wanted a shitload of money
Sad to see him leave Simon & Greenedge. He's new to Ineos over the off-season.
Request a video explaining Slovenia where the two grew up when they first met what is happening w kids there now w 2 such great riders And address issue of deep doping ties history by 2 managers of podacars team who led and supported m pantani caught for Doping by French senate re testing
rim brake boi's upfront
i didnt know adam yates went to ineos. i thought he was with michelton scott bike exchange.. or whatever they're called now
Simon stayed at the Aussie squad tho
Folks will finally be able to tell them apart. ;-)
@@pahouseholder good one
Almeida is the new Voeckler.
Still, rim brakes 😇😇😇
mmmm gobble up dem rights
Gc done
'member last year when no one knew who was in shape for the classics and GTs?
Poor kuss with that heavy slugging disc brake bike
not sure he got dropped tbh, wasn't just waiting on what's his name?
@@Dorfidioten It feels like this story is really familiar. Kuss having plenty in the tank but dropping back to support his leader. From interviews it sounds like he's not quite ready for that responsibility yet in big races and his TT has to improve, but it would be cool to see him lead the team in smaller races to get experience.
@@Dorfidioten it seemed like he was going for the stage win, but once he knew he couldn't stick with Yates and Pogi he dropped back to help Chris Harper
Hate to break it to ya, but all the bikes weigh the same. 6.8 kg give or take
@@andrewo412 for example, go and watch Alex dowsett’s video where he reviews his factor and then weighs it; it’s over over 8kg. You are uneducated my friend, disc bikes weigh a lot more than rim!! Not to mention the rubbing rotors and heat problems
A. Yates is very strong since he’s in Team Ineos ! Maybe he‘ll be stronger in the GT than his brother?!
He won't be a captain lol
@@blackpaint9093 geraint Thomas wasn’t either in 2018 Tour de france
@@blackpaint9093 Sadly, true. I'm sure he'll get his chances as a team leader with Ineos some day, but I wonder where & when.
Whether Adam is stronger than Simon individually is one thing. But, as much as I love the Greenedge boys, Ineos is a stronger GT team by far.
the dignitaries sitting in chairs at podium celebrations looked oddly royal - socially distanced good to see tho
How can pogacar be so good at TT but still climb mountains so well?
Nice sunglasses......
Why did you laugh at poor Gallopin :D
Hi Lantern, Huge stockness on your chanel and new presentation ways of 2021, I don't know if you looked at that section of the attack of Tadej but it was really great to see the gap he created to pass Yates full speed on the down/flat section. Here's the link for the section where the deal was sealed between Yates and Tadej. Really great and patient attack. I've put the link for the video if interested. kzhead.info/sun/g9GBpsN-sYRsqH0/bejne.html Cheers
jumbo on cervelo's is so cheesy
Hang on who to tf Florian Stork!?
Turns out yates could be reborn at ineos
Ineos have the budget to develop any rider
Both rim brake are king 😂
Why did FDJ waste Attila Valter and not let him try on the climb.
Boy, Seth disappeared! Didn’t even crack the top 10.
