Hello
It's been more than a year after The Sims 4 release date and people are still asking, which one's better?
So I've decided to put all of them to the test.
Sorry but Sims 1 has never been requested to put to the test... but gets 1 free point just for being the first one and the most nostalgic one.
I have ALL of these game's current expansions and stuff packs BUT it's only fair to compare ONLY base game content since Sims 2 and Sims 3 have the advantage on that matter.
So truth be told, if we're talking about the game play in general Sims 3 and 2 are better by NOW for sure if you have all their expansions.
I'll later upload a video comparing some objects, worlds, interactions and animations. I'm only going to focus here on the visuals, not on the game-play. Also I'm not going to talk about CC because they all have very different CC styles...unless anyone can name something that is the same in the 3 games.

I'm having problems with Sims 2, seems like it's not compatible with Windows 10 and the quality wouldn't go up, so I had to use my old computer to get a full screen and it's soooo slow, gets abut 20 fps, sorry about that.
I was planning on uploading a video where I'd show CAS for both genders and all ages, but since just the first part took about 20 minutes I decided to shorten it and upload only the female's process since the only thing that changes with the rest is some clothing and hair.

I agree with you! I think some people don't know how to get into their creative side.
Now take the foundation's of The Sims 2, creativity and open world of The Sims 3, and the multi social function's of The Sims 4, cram every item from every generation in it, then add a graphics setting style of 2,3 or 4 with Video Options. And the last bit, a modding suite to build on the foundation, THEN you will have the #1 Sims release to top them all.
that would be awesome but they wont make it as they wont need that manye expansion packs which means a lot less money
Well I don't think so, they could just keep the base versions of the game and make expansion's that way, and If EA won't make content then the people of the modding community will, Modding sites are like expansion's to me, either way is a win win especially since modding is still active. And in everyday life there is so much creativity with furniture and living interactions. I'm sure they can add room some where for future expansions.

Sims 3 is best for realism and customization & projects. Sims 2 is best for gameplay and sims 4 is best for probably just screwing around with sims lol. That is just my opinion.
I think I would agree with you. Personally, I have only played TS2 on a friend's computer, so I haven't gotten a chance to really experience it, but I love TS3 because of the open world and ALL the customizable style options (which is the thing I miss the most in TS4). But I play TS4 the most, mainly because I can change almost EVERYTHING about the way my sim looks in CAS and the sims are WAYYY smarter. Like they can MULTITASK!? I was so excited when my sims could cook AND have a conversation at the same time, WHILE listening to music hahaha! I still get irked though that I can't change the style options hahaha
Sims 2 was just the best. A lot of clothing options that actually looked good. The sims looked good for their time. Game not to hard to run. Really easy to mess with clothing and completely free to make your own world. Kind of hard to take care of needs though so you mostly played with cheats. The Sims of Sims 3 looked like shit. Only a few face types worked and you couldn't really create different kind of people because they would just be ugly. Consumisation was AWESOME. You could make anything and create anything. Open world gave a really real feel to the game. Like it was a real town, anything could happen. But it was really slow. And needs where are to keep up with too. The Sims 4 of sims 4 look really good. They did a really good job on different races and you can really recreate people because you can be quit extreem and people still look like they could be real. Body types are really nice because it creates real diversity. The game is all over quit beautiful also with build mode. But it is really annoying that you have SO LITTLE OPTIONS. They are trying to fix it a little bit but still. And there is no open world, and you can't customize the worlds AT ALL. Really makes the game less creative. But the multitasking is really good and it is really easy to keep your sims happy and still do things.

sims 2 is best for laughs, specially the exaggerated body sliders, I once made a guy with a nose so big it covered his entire face, which means, his face was a nose
yeah when the Sims 4 came out years ago, I can't remember the year of it, There was so much complaints over the Sims 4 because of no Toddlers, Pools and other stuff. One of the EB Games staff told me about it. Also I not sure if I want to buy the sims 4 as can't do custom colors, patterns and other stuff like the sims 3 has. I though, I wonder if they will make The Sims 5 and what will it be like or what's in it? But that might not be made yet or never will?
Sims 2 is still my fave, and you get a lot more options when you have all the packs and stuff.

@@sunnyyyyyyyyyy The Sims 2 had the simplest CAS if we don't consider The Sims 1, but the game really shines on the sims' personalities, even though it may seem limiting because of the personality point system, sims will actually act like the traits you assigned to them (Unlike The Sims 4) We would get the perfect personality system if you took the traits from The Sims 3 and mixed them with the point system of The Sims 1 and 2
The Sims 4 is known for it's graphical improvements, enhanced CAS, and simple navigation. The Sims 3 is known for the vast-openness, and the most freedom in a Sims game. My ideal game (Sims 5? Maybe) is this: - Open World, maybe broken into districts to avoid lag - Graphics of Sims 4, customization of Sims 3 - Bring back toddlers, elevators, and whatever else made Sims 3 even better - More NPCs - Overwhelming variety of traits (We should have more than 30, Sims 4!) - Challenges (if you've ever played Sims 3 Pets for console) - 1st Person view, one thing I've always kinda' wanted

I disagree on the open worlds; sims 5 will be a big game and open worlds of any sort will put a lot of lag on it. I’d rather have loading screens than a laggy game. Sims 5 may not even come out, EA said it will if Sims 4 has good sales, but let’s hope it does!

The first time I got The Sims 3, I couldn’t stop playing it. When I got The Sims 4, I played it for about an hour before getting bored and spending several days only on getting custom content to make the game funner. I love the emotions and building and everything in the Sims 4, but I feel like the Sims 3 has much better gameplay. You don’t get as bored. And CARS! And BIKES! There weren’t any annoying loading screens!
And every additional gameplay coming with new games is so damn expensive. Like (in my country), sims 3 pets costs 70, sims 4 pets 140. Wtf. Everything is so expensive.

@@yati_xox I know this is a year old, but I have to point out to you, sims 3 is significantly older so the prices have dropped considerably from what they were at release. The pets expansion for sims 4 is the exact same price as it was for 3 on release, the base game is barely 20% more expensive (which makes the price in line with every other base release for a AAA title)
there werent loading screens because the whole game was so slow and you could only play with one family. complete trash I say, I prefer sims 2
There's only one thing I don't like about the sims 3 and that's the fact that it crashes every 10 seconds
Personally I prefer Sims 4 because I think sims 3 looks kinda.. Dirty? I don't know. I just think sims 4 is brighter and more simplistic, which I like.
I love sims 4 style. It's modern. Sims 3 looks clunky. I can't even play it anymore without cringing at the style lol
Yeah, every time I see a TS3 sim all I can think of is potatoes. Lot's of good memories from that game though.

I like the sims 4 the most the CAS is better and you can choose every gender you want and the bodies are more beautiful the sims 2 and 3 are more bugging bodies the and everything is rounder 🎈😋😜
sim 2 deserves points for how groundbreaking it was when it first came out but i can admit after 15 years of playing, it's waaaay dated. sims 3 has great options but loses for basically being unaesthetically pleasing. they're hideous and the game's lighting does nothing to highlight any positive physical aspects. they have fat heads, look plastic and they all have the same gaunt cheekbones, down turned mouths, beaky noses and sunken eyes. someone shouldnt have to be a simulation maestro to make an attractive sim. sims 4 wins out for bringing us past the limitations of sliders and building up on the strengths of those that came before. AND for correcting the dna system that's sims 3 broke
It is very true that compared to Sims 1 Sims 2 was like 5 steps forward, they made Sims a lot more "customizable", they gave lifetime aspirations and wants, they added more ages and a lot of other stuff which was missing from Sims 1. Sims 3 was like 3 steps forward with it's customization, traits and open world. And Sims 4 could've been 4 steps forward with the emotions having a big role, multitasking, the new CAS and basically making the game much smoother than the past games BUT taking 2 of the 3 steps Sims 3 gave (even 1 from the Sims 2 aka toddlers) was a bad idea. The game was rushed and if it wasn't for that this could've been the best Sims game so far.

Could you imagine if Sims 4 was made before Sims 3 and Sims 2? Everyone would complain how Sims 2 and 3 wouldn't have the good CAS, house building, emotions, and everything else Sims 4 had. That'd be hilarious considering Sims 4 is always the game everybody wants to hate, despite them even playing it >.>
The thing is Sims 4 is the only game which took a few steps back.
***** It depends on your game preference, it maybe for some but went forward for others. Some hate toddlers some love em. Sims 4 did many things right, and so did the others. Sims 4 and the others did bad too at times...as a personal preference. There will never be a definitive answer, just have to judge them all when they are all out (stuff packs, game packs, expansion packs.) and base it on what you have more fun with.

When 3 was as old has 4 is now, it already had pets.
There are leaks of pets and seasons discovered by modders! Who work on ts4 custom content/mods it is very exciting

I adore sims 3, but it has so much stuff on it that I can't run it on my laptop and since I had so many expansion packs I'm scared it might ruin my new desktop. *sigh* I'm stuck with sims 4

Sims 2 is so nostalgic to me, it was my first Sims game (besides the game cube sims 2 pets and sims bustin' out) and its still the most fun out of all of them. Sims 3 was really enjoyable as well since you can customize so many things vs the sims 2, and the expansion packs are great! Sims 4 for me wasn't as enjoyable as the other two, its not as custom as sims 3 and not as fun as sims 2. I purchased sims 4 and only played it for like a month and haven't played it since :/ :(

two is the simple, chaotic little game that you played hunched over your grandma's laptop at a family party three is the realistic game that your uncle was blown away by when you showed it to him four is the one that you spend hours in cas, but get bored by the time you actually have to play

I'd have to say sims 3 realism, sims 2/3 gameplay (sims 2 had loads of animation and it was realistic with stuff like washing up after toddlers and bathing them) sims 4/3 cas (hello anybody else miss colours?!) sim 3/4 emotions (they fluctuate too easily and need work) and sims 4 building-but with sims 3 items.

I don't really know why people are so disappointed with sims 4? its so neat and its a different style but thats what custom content is for, sims 3 looks kinda... dirty?? and they didn't have as many cool feature such as restaurants and gender customization, though ill admit if they combined sims 3 and 4 it would be the ultimate combo, idk i just thinks sims 4 is really great, idk why it gets hate. Edit: Not to mention the clothing options for sims 4 is realllyyyyy cute! not just plain thins like sims 3 mostly.

the hates comes from the expectation that sims 3 fans wanted in a sims 4 game (which were improved a lot with mods), basically what sims 3 lacks and making it better (or so you say combination of both). however since this kind of stuff would mean ea had to spent more money and time into making sims 4 to meet those expectation, which they've proven times after times that they care more about money than their fans, they decided to take the easy way out (which they've always done), creating a game with a limited budget. if ea really did care about the fanbase, why remove such features that made sims 3 so wonderful? judging by the mods, it was clear what the fans wanted in a sims 4 game; AI improvement, realistic/textures and more customization of character, better house/world creation, larger world, more jobs/opportunities, more realistic gameplay, and so much more! only 1 reason why these things did not happen, ea did not want to invest money and time into it.
Boring Banana Chicken Wing I guess you could say "they don't care" but really unless you or me own a company like that, finances and money and budgets are more difficult than we can understand, especially with gaming companies like that, they could lose a lot of money if they weren't doing what they were doing, and yes i get it, it sucks but still idk, it's still a great game. But I understand, I hate paying 10-20$ for game packs and I wish they'd been included, but money is important and we'd be lying to say it isn't. It's still a great game nonetheless.

i hope the sims 5 has the best parts of 3&4 combined. like open worlds from ts3, cas from ts4 but with cast, graphics like ts4 but improved and so on. it would be my favourite game yet
I love the build mode in 4. But I miss all the stuff you could build/do in 3. Elevators. Spiral staircases. Stair rails (they're a right mess in 4, you can only have them on *both* sides or not at all, and you can even see this in some preset community lots... that the designers/devs weren't (sufficiently) bothered by those horrible non-aesthetics is worrying)

For me, Sims 4 definitely nailed CAS. I don't care if the color wheel is gone, The modification of the body alone is a big jump. I don't know why players here aren't recognising the good side and only see's the bad side of the game.
Finally found someone, Like bruh which do you want more? Color wheel or full body modification? I didn't even know there was a sims game untill Sims 4 came out. I know Simcity though.

Die Reptiloidin most of the time it’s just criticism. although the CAS in sims 4 is great along with the build mode, it does lack a lot in gameplay when compared to the previous games.
Sims 3 is still my best cos of the colour wheel, but I do have much love for 2 and 4 :)
just have both. I would do the same but I might need a 1TB hard drive to fit them all like Sims 2, Sims 3 and Sims 4. I do have a 600GB hard drive but some take that of from windows so it's really 574GB.

and the traits! i hate how in sims 4 you have emotions, because it's sometimes UNREALISTIC of their whims to do this and that compared to that of sims 3. depending on the traits your sims has, you'll have SO MUCH FUN to do and realize that this sim of yours actually has personality and there's a lot of fun details as you play along. (heavy sleeper is a personal fave, bc they snore; clumsy, too, bc reasons) sims 4 is just so bland compared to sims 3. i had high hopes for sims 4, what a disappointment.

I love the Sims 4 CAS and everything about the sliders, ect. but I don't like the hairstyle options or clothes options (Personal taste). I also really miss the sliders and colour wheel and the unlimited decorations in Sims 3! I vote for the Sims 3, definitely!

+Melly S. LOL a colour wheel like that won't bog the game down as badly as you are implying. The Sims 3 was sluggish because of the open world (in ts4 there is also some open world too which is the neighbourhood area in between lots, therefore they could probably make open world run much smoothly than in ts3 as long as they make the programming more efficient) But no Colour wheels do not make games slower by such a substantial amount.
I think sims 3 is best for creating realistic sims, sims 4 is good for messing around ,sims 2 is great for gameplay.Sims 3 is really laggy for me though

Sims 2, hands down the best Sims game they made. Especially if you play with Custom Content because that is where the best custom content creators came from.

Yes, but no Toddlers, how sad when I found out online when it came out was it about 2 years ago, or more then that? sims 2 had toddlers, sims 3 had toddlers, but no toddlers in sims 4 :( everyone love Toddlers :) Through I don't get why they told poor toddlers out of sims 4. I wonder if sims 5 will have toddlers, but that not made yet I don't think? I have Sims 2 and Sims 3.

sims 4 is my favorite. the characters just look more aesthetically pleasing and the fact you can change their walk and voice is cool.
personally i love the sims 4- while i agree that the sims 3 is more realistic, the graphics and over all look of the characters seemed really dirty and i can't get into the clothing style/hair styles at all. although there was diversity in colour and pattern in my opinion there wasn't much difference in actual style (excluding mods) , not to mention the game was horribly laggy and slow even with just the base game installed. i have over one thousand pieces of custom content on the sims 4 and it still runs smoother than the sims 3. Even though i miss the colour wheel and open worlds, sims 4 is sure to top them all once they start releasing expansions that people actually WANT. the game's problem right now is that they are adding things that we don't want (get to work and get together were pretty useless expansions in my opinion, along with the useless stuff packs that add little of what we need into the game) and add things that are necessary like pets, generations, seasons etc and at least add some new swatches for furniture and clothes. EA is just being lazy at this point.

It's been out for months now.... The loading screens kill the game. The amount of content doesn't compare to sims 3 with expansions. The lack of customizability makes you very limited on what you can do, especially for those of us who liked to design buildings.

+Noothinx I know. I got the Sims 2 just a few months ago after years of not playing it. It was so nostalgic to play. I spent SO much time playing that game when I was younger, for me, it was the most addictive out of all.

The worst thing in Sims 4 is that the cities aren't like in sims 3. Its more difficult and I don't like it :((

Every sims game is very good and has it's own style. Sims 1 and 3 had a more realistic style, while the sims 2 and 4 got a more cartoony look. Every game has it's own new features, but some missing ones, too! Ts1 was new , Ts2 3d stuff and alot more things, Ts3 cast, open world and realism and Ts4 multitasking, cast is better , building is the same, less lag, alot more clothes , very detailed textures... Shall I continue?

i just got the sims 4. i noticed i get bored of it A LOTTT faster. i can play sims 3 for hours.. sims 4 its like half an hr max. maybe cause my household is just me atm...but idk ill test it. also hate that i cant customize anything anymore. i noticed you cant with clothes, didnt test it on house objects yet. and i hear there is no toddler? wtf. why.... idk. it was on sale. so i got it... id never paid the 60$ for it.

I got the Sims 3 but I still have the Sims 2 put away at the moment. Well I could put Sims 2 on my laptop but I only have a 574GB hard drive and I have some MMO games on it. man games can take a lot of you hard drive space. I might need a 1TB or 2 TB hard drive.
Sims 3. Their hairstyle customization was incredible. I spent so much time just messing with the colors wheel and the highlights, tips etc.
Its kind of weird when people say that the sims 4 looks too cartooney... I mean... It's a game so it's kind of normal.

sims 4 is the best by far to me x but it is lacking the amazing features and customization but you all have to realize that the sims 3 was around longer and the sims 4 is new with much new things and if you think about it and look that they're always updating the game ip even if it's small. like recently they've updated it so now your sims can be male and be feminine and a get pregnant and vice versa with girls without mods now. but if the had the customization with eyes, makeup, and clothes and also toddlers and washer machines I'd be totally hooked. but I like the new look of the sims I play both sims 3 and 4 for hours but what I mostly enjoy now is that you don't have to have parents at home or at all with teens and kids which is cool because I hated being with the baby sitter all day and then not having money to pay them...

I'm about to install the Sims 4. I'm concerned about the open world concept, that was the most realistic thing that I've ever played in The Sims series, and I'm a simmer since the 2000 Christmas lol. And what about the car and the todler thingy? cause I considered them sooo cute.

For Sims2 there was a Programm named Sims Bodyshop. In this Programm you could create your Sim very specific. There are more Possibilities for the Face.

I hate how a ton of people are saying they hate The Sims 2, when The Sims 4 is 10 times as crappy. TS4 may have new features for CAS, but outside of that it is nothing.

I don't know about you , but I once played Sims 2 Pets on PS2 and what I like about that game is that you can layer clothes ( undershirt , shirt , jacket for example) .

My favourite will always be sims 2, all the series' and made using that, the custom content makes the sims look amazing and extremely realistic, there are also lots of expansions and it's really fun, it's amazing for when is was made as well. Sims 3 is really good as well, although I'm not the best fan of the sims, because they all look very similar, it's still great when you get in game, and late night is possibly my favourite expansion everrr, I also love create a Style, and you can also get amazing cc, I also really like the graphics, they're fancy, but realistic. Plus, when you listen to music, you get MCR in simlish, which I may or may not listen to hours on end.Then we get to sims 4, which is honestly my least favourite by miles, although the create a sim is great and it's a lot easier to make sims accurate especially with amazing cc, I dislike the graphics, they're very unrealistic that's why I use lots of cc, there's no toddlers, and too many loading screens :(

oBet studios really just a matter of opinion. Always found Sims 3 hair pretty bland. Compared to better maxis match alpha hair made for cc there's no excuse for some of the hair in Sims 3. Sims 4 is more of a clayified hair least with some of the fuller hair, but I like them this way as it fits the style of the Sims 4. There's only been very few hairstyles in game for 3 I even liked myself.
April May I know it's a matter of opinion. Some of Sims 3's hair styles are awful, but out of the three EPs I have there's a good selection. I don't like using CC hair because I find CC is "too realistic". The Sims 4 hair does come in some nice styles but the clay-like appearance ruins it a lot. The limited colour palette for the hair is ridiculous as well.

Really, The Sims 3 is the most complete in terms of character customization and personalization of household objects such as: furniture, being able to change the color and choose from several styles of prints. I hope The Sims 5 has everything it had in 3 The Sims 3 may even be the most complete but it's the most emotionless, I don't know why seeing The Sims 2 side by side it was made to be funny the animations of the sims the way their expressions when something happens and even more when they get scared, they have more realism.

I don't like the sims 4 just becouse when I playing ts4 it's so borring. I can play the sims 2 & the sims 3 all day and it will still be fun. For me ts1,2&3 are better then ts4. This is what I think.

I hate sims graphics. Sims 4 graphics could of been better to food and little things like couches. The sims 2 eh is fine. Even though I only play the sims 2 on DS. ON LP'S I hate the whole following the sim when they come your lot but you don't have much to do on sims 2 at collage. I love the sims 3 but hate the lags,open world and the not responding. The crashing is horrible. When it comes to pets I love the sims 3 it looks realistic like how sims 2 did a bit. Sims to be honest was a little laggy. When it comes to loading screens the sims 3 is better. Your right it does get boring but since I don't have sims 3 but my friends do I will play it. At the same time I won't the sims 3 is laggy with 8 household. Due to the lack of LGBT since they didn't support it when sims 3 was made. I love sims 3 expansion packs. I just hate supernatural and midevil. (I don't care if I spelled that wrong) But the one thing I hate the most is how you can't customize the sims 3 vamps eyes. I do love combing the children though. Midevil looked boring and I didn't bother to get it. Watching LP'S didn't make me change my mind either. Just my opinion

i think the Sims 2 cas is a little bit out of logic(I mean like,those eyes in full size omg). Also I have heard about that glitch in Sims2 cas where you can make the face parts larger than they should be. For me the winner is Sims4. I like how you can change almost any part of the body and without body sliders.
I wish we had TS3 personality options in TS4 CAS. It would be perfect. 3 traits + 1 aspiration traits are too few for me :C
Combine all 3 in my book. The challenge and interactions of number 2, the open world, gameplay and university of number 3, and the graphics, customisation and career opportunities of 4. Some of the little features of each game combined into 1 too, such as imaginary friends from 3, the sneaking out option as a teenager from 2, all the while keeping the phases from number 4
The only reason im giving sims 3 the win on this, is create a style and color wheel. Still can't believe we don't have that in Sims 4.
If EA watched your videos they would perfectly know how to make The Sims 5 one step above every previous game. This is quite sad they are obsessed over delivering the cheapest product instead.

The sims 3 create a style was one of my favorite features ever and I miss it so much! Sims 4 definitely feels like a bit of a downgrade but I know sims 3 had a lot of issues.
Sims 4 CAS, emotions, multitask and building, sims 3 open world and create a style, sims 2 cutscenes, stores and details (like cooking)
Sims 4 is my favorite. But some things that would enhance are the hair movements from TS2. And more color pallets. It would be difficult to bring back TS3 pallets style but I want deep purple hair and more multicolor hair.

64 traits in Sims 3, down to 39 traits in Sims 4 :( When I started the Sims 4 this really upset me. I love choosing the traits, and I wish there were way more!!

sims 4 cas updates since then: both genders can have all voices, feminine, masculine and more ( addable and removable) tags (one for CC ) , gender settings ( tab with 3 dots ) makes it so people of the same gender can make a baby or make it so female sims can have a masculine body outline ( and vise versa ) , new walkstyle and skin tones , toddlers , new clothing , ability to edit teeth , sims 4 cas features from expansion packs , Aliens ( ts4 get to work ) , Vampires ( ts4 vampires ) , acne ( ts4 parenthood )
For me: Sims 4 body and face cas + Sims 3 colour wheel for hair and eyes + Sims 3 traits and aspirations (even though I prefer Sims 4 aspirations with milestones but we need more of them and with more depth) + sims 3 interests and zodiac signs + Sims 2 turn ons and offs. That’s for me the perfect CAS
Personally I see Sims 2 and Sims 3 as better games than Sims 4 simply due to the open world from Sims 3 and the gameplay from Sims 2. Now don't get me wrong, Sims 4 is a VAST improvement from the last two in terms of emotions, graphics, etc, but they downgraded just a bit by leaving out the open world, color wheel, toddlers, and less traits. Granted I know that they made the game to suit those with computers that couldn't handle the color wheel and open world, but they could have at least given some way for those that could handle it to have those features back. I just hate playing on one lot where the only way my sim can travel is through a loading screen, I mean it's Sims 2 all over again lol

sims 4 looks like a combination of sims 3 and 2. still sims 4 became my favorite after a while of playing it. I did like that gloss on clothes in sims 3 tho.
I think a mix between Sims 3's and Sims 4's CAS would be the best. I like the possibility to choose any color in sims 3 and I like how you can modify any body part in the sims 4
They should add all the animations(especially the little videos like when you have your first kiss) from TS2, All the patterns and styles(oh yeah and pets) from TS3 and put it all in TS4 and I will be happy. Lol
