I have both an ASUS FX505DT and FX505DV. While the DT (the lower end of the two) feels pretty solid, with its plastic and aluminium top shell construction, the DV is made entirely of a thin, flimsy plastic. This video actually demonstrates how flimsy the outer shell is. At 0:13 when the person is clearing the mere weight of the power supply and headphones from the top of the laptop, note how the plastic pops up. That is precisely how flimsy the FX505DV is. None of my other laptop lids would even budge from that small amount of weight.

My ASUS TUF gaming notebook suffered a somewhat worrying drop, and when I saw it, worried about its condition, I was surprised that it did not suffer serious damage. Still, I'll send it to some technician to check their components. Excellent machine.

knocked my Asus TUF off a desk twice...once on a slightly more soft carpet floor and once on a solid floor at school...minor damage at the corners but still holding up really well, very brilliant laptop!

The manufacturers have thought along and actually EVERY device that has a battery has a built-in buffer so that the battery will never charged to the point where it is damaged. You should generally keep a battery between 40% and 80% charge, this is how you maximize the durability of every battery. There is also a program for this notebook where you can set the maximum charge level, mine only charges up to 60%. In addition, this program can also tell you the health of your battery, mine is at 97% The gaming notebooks with a second real GPU are all a little more power-hungry and the battery life of these gaming notebooks is generally relatively poor in the under €1000 class. There are generally only 2 - 3 alternatives in the price range of this notebook and they all have such a bad battery life and more or less all the same problems. I would recommend Intel processors, which consume a little less power than the Ryzen. Best regards!

No, it isn't water proof. If you spill water or coffee, you keyboard will get damaged. If you immerse it in water, your motherboard will burn

@@sachindey7812 can amd tolerate indian heat temperature? Amd processors are made for foreign countries only. Its not recommended for india. Because in india there is soo much of heat and dust, which will decrease the life span of the amd processors. So intel is the best choice.

Yeah, but RGB driver wasn't installed for some reasons (that's not your fault) and you need to install RGB Driver for RGB keyboard so it will iluminate itself in many colors and for brightness on RGB Keyboard
I had the same problem (after an update from Windows Update) and I installed that driver so it worked (and I recommend you to do it like I did)

The backlit keyboard had small light bulbs which will get damaged by water immediately. Other than that the keyboard is relatively water tight. So, it won't spoil into your system. But keyboard may get damaged.
I'm not sure about water damage but my asus tuf dash f15 2021 model fell to the right side with screen open by an about 2.5 foot drop and it had no scratches or anything. However I'm sure it will easily survive a 5ft drop

Nice hardware and build quality. But it has driver issues. I bought fx505 DT it has touch pad issues and bluetooth issues 🤷 the Asus precision pad driver sucks. So i am using additional mouse now even though mouse pointer is lagging. The bluetooth disconnects itself or no audio is coming out of the bluetooth speaker, i checked the bluetooth speaker no problem in that its the driver 🤷.

i have mine just last january 2019. the fx505 gold. now my mouse has this blue circle(loading thing) always flickering and it is not as fast turn on and off as before..i think im gonna go to shop for check up..Also, a friend spill a little water to my keyboard f10 part..now the light of f10 key and half of f9 is not working..also i made a small scratch at the left upper back of the screen when i accidentally drop the port usb of my mouse..i thought it was anti scratch until i notice. I'd like to fix all my stuff asap when i make any little or big damage..can u please advice me what to do with this 3 issues i have? thank you
I know that if is late to reply. But for anyone else who have these problems, I will answer them. The lagging is mainly due to windows error. The windows for buggy due to some internal error or write during updates. So, it is now getting show. Clean installing windows will solve the problem. The laptop is not scratch proof or waterproof. If you scratch it, there is nothing that can be done other than replacing the screen display which will be unnecessarily expensive. About water damage, I think the LED bulb of the keys got shorted. You have to replace the key board which again is unnecessarily expensive. So, as long as the keyboard is functional, just ignore the lights

Bruh all electronic company does this , TV , mouse, keyboard, mechanical switch, etc. If want a durability test drop from 10meter see how many time until it breaks. 0:43 change the color temp to cooler thin and ramping up air conditioning doesn't mean high altitude, buried it in snow for 30min than will see

ASUS has the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I am talking monumental incompetence. I purchased an Asus ROG Strix 1080ti. It worked for 3 days. I contacted Asus. Due to circumstances around my graphics card, I was promised a new in box card to be sent to me, after I shipped them the broken card. That was on October 15th. I am writing this on December 3rd, and there still is no resolution. I have over 20 emails from Asus. I have made countless calls at 30 minutes to 1 hour a piece. Just this week, I have spoken to Asus 4 times, each time being transferred to a further escalated person because while 1) everyone is sorry and 2) everyone knows I'm supposed to have a new in box card 3) no one seems to be able to get anything done 4) I'm told I'll be called back (which will not occur that same day EVER), and 50% of the time that does not happen at all and I am again forced to call them. When I sent my card in initially, they shipped me a card. It was not new in box as promised. It was a refurbished card and the accessories package looked like something chewed on it. Obviously, I was upset. They were "sorry" of course. I was given another label to send THAT refurbished card back and they would send me the new in box card. This, of course, meant that AGAIN I had to wait the 5-7 days for the refurbished card to get there. Them to do whatever they do for 3-5 days after that. Then the 5-7 days for them to send me my new card. They shipped me a card again. When I opened the package, did I find a new in box card? No. I saw..... THE. EXACT. SAME. CARD. THEY. SENT. ME. THE. FIRST. TIME. Same serial number. Same everything. This package arrived to my house on November 24th. Naturally I called that day. The person who answered was 1) sorry 2) knows I'm supposed to have a new in box card 3) can't do anything about it 4) told me a manager would call me back. 3 days later, after no call, I called Asus again. My call was naturally escalated (at this point my calls seem to go to a new number where it is always escalated). That person said/did the same standard 4 things. Because I refused to be told I was going to get a call back (and not get it that day of course, or not at all) this agent told me they put me in the manager's queue to be called back, and that I was #2 in line. 4 hours later I called Asus back again. This time the agent looked everything up. He told me I was never put in the queue for any manager. For the first time the agent seemed to hear that I had called countless times before. This had never happened and he consolidated some things into one #. Supposedly, an advanced replaced was ordered. However, after 4 days of nothing, I called back again. Nothing had been done. I have been given the following case numbers so far: N1811115397 (which I think now has most of things consolidated onto it, where the agent wrote notes), N18106555, N181085687, N1810116095, N181089560, N181086112, and N181085687. I have been given the following RMA#s so far: USPCJA1602, USPCJA1621, USPCJB0863, and USPCJB2052 (which hasn't been used yet, because I was told I would be sent an advanced replacement first, which has not happened). The last time before today that I spoke with ASUS, I said I was done and just wanted a refund. Supposedly, the guy sent that in to be approved. But the thing is, I have said that before, and have been told that a refund is not possible. When I called today, after hearing nothing for a few days, I wasn't looking for a card or refund anymore. I am filing a small claims case against ASUS. I tried calling their HQ # and the call dies after 6 seconds. I did this multiple times. I searched for other areas to contact to no avail. I called the only number I had and told the reps, I simply needed to know if they have a representative to name in the case or if they could get me to their legal department to find out that info. They told me they could not transfer me there. I asked if I could have the number and they told me no. I was told that the legal department would contact me. I asked when. The agent didn't have an answer.
