piracy never is/was considered theft. it’s a different crime altogether. piracy is defined as the unauthorized reproduction of copyrighted/trademarked goods/product. i think where the misconception with theft comes from is the old definition of piracy where robbery/other illegal actions happen at sea.

Now THIS could be fascinating. You have two companies with *a lot* in common when it comes to corporate tone: - Both exist in their own respective bubbles, pretty much ignoring the vast majority of standards set in their respective industries. - Both are super over-controlling of their platforms and software ecosystems - Both have a history of engaging in lawsuits over use of patents and intellectual properties. And now the potential exists for both companies to clash together. I love this.

I used to like Nintendo, and frankly, I still enjoy their games. But they have horrible business ethics that I just can't bring myself to support. If I get a Switch 2, it's going to be via eBay used (and that's a big "if" too, because I really don't like the Switch as a console/piece of hardware :/ ).

Apparently copyright laws dictate that anything companies make is protected between 90-120 years before it becomes public domain. This either needs to be revised, or a clause needs to be added for video games from obsolete platforms.

Like, you wouldn’t need a paid 60 fps upgrade patch for Ghost of Tsushima on PS5 if you could simply increase the fps limit in the settings. If consoles prioritized backwards compatibility, and let you change the settings like on PC, remasters wouldn’t even exist.

If Nintendo had just been pro consumer and given us a better version of the eShop(with music), where we can buy various old nes, snes, sega Genesis, Sega CD, sega Master system, Gameboy, Gameboy color, GBA and more consoles instead of the scummy nso(And to keep our digital purchases), then none of this wouldn't have happened. There would be no need to Pirate if they just give us what we want, but they constantly fumble the bag because of greed, and then get mad when we emulate their legacy games and mod their consoles. @@Adamtendo_player_1Idk, while they’re all pretty terrible at least Microsoft, and to a lesser extent Sony, make their games accessible to tons of people, even outside of their console base. Both have also been pretty good about backwards compatibility, and reasonable prices for older titles, whereas Nintendo decided to charge full price for old WiiU ports. Microsoft and Sony also aren’t nearly as trigger happy when it comes to taking legal action. Nintendo straight up destroyed a mans life for making modding tools for the switch, and the number of fan games that Nintendo has stomped out has to be in the dozens by now.

The reason the performance is good is because Delta by itself is only able to emulate GBA, everything else you see there is actually other popular open source emulators running under a fancy UI.

People keep talking about NSO and emulators as if they’re separate things… Nintendo Switch Online IS an Emulator. Nintendo probably doesn’t want to call it that so it’s easier to demonize unofficial ones, but that’s exactly what Nintendo Switch Online is. It’s a collection of “official” emulators made by Nintendo. And unofficial emulators are not illegal, despite Nintendo’s attempts to paint it that way. Game piracy is illegal, not emulation.

I tried iGBA on ipad, it works well. However the app doesn't have a option menu. So no save state. Not sure if the app got pulled. This is why I stay with android. I am currently playing Twilight Princess in HD. Just made it to Death Mountain.

If Nintendo had just been pro consumer and given us a better version of the eShop(with music), where we can buy various old nes, snes, sega Genesis, Sega CD, sega Master system, Gameboy, Gameboy color, GBA and more consoles instead of the scummy nso(And to keep our digital purchases), then none of this wouldn't have happened. Both have also been pretty good about backwards compatibility, and reasonable prices for older titles, whereas Nintendo decided to charge full price for old WiiU ports. Microsoft and Sony also aren’t nearly as trigger happy when it comes to taking legal action. Nintendo straight up destroyed a mans life for making modding tools for the switch, and the number of fan games that Nintendo has stomped out has to be in the dozens by now.

The reason the performance is good is because Delta by itself is only able to emulate GBA, everything else you see there is actually other popular open source emulators running under a fancy UI.

People keep talking about NSO and emulators as if they’re separate things… Nintendo Switch Online IS an Emulator. Nintendo probably doesn’t want to call it that so it’s easier to demonize unofficial ones, but that’s exactly what Nintendo Switch Online is. It’s a collection of “official” emulators made by Nintendo. And unofficial emulators are not illegal, despite Nintendo’s attempts to paint it that way. Game piracy is illegal, not emulation.

I tried iGBA on ipad, it works well. However the app doesn't have a option menu. So no save state. Not sure if the app got pulled. This is why I stay with android. I am currently playing Twilight Princess in HD. Just made it to Death Mountain.

Apple and Nintendo both have a history of bad decisions but Apple has infinitely more money and power than Nintendo so i'm very curious to see this escalate.

They have been releasing Arcade archives (Nintendo games), Advance wars 1 + 2, Paper Mario thousand Year door, Mario vs Donkey Kong (Remake), Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, Miitopia (The 3DS remaster) Skyward sword HD, Pikmin 1 + 2, Super Mario RPG (Remake) Kirby return to Dreamland deluxe, Links Awakening, Metroid Prime remastered, Super Mario 3d all stars (physical version) and A bunch of other third-party retro video game collections. Which is pretty much the closest we can get to virtual Console on switch
@@M64brosstill not virtual console. Selling remakes for full price of of new game and a very small collection of retro games isn’t gonna prevent us from pirating old games.
Last year my SNES died. Now my N64. How I can nostalgia with the real machines, they can't last forever? Ther's no slots to SNES or N64 cartridge on my Switch. And if I wanna play my SNES/64 games legaly on Switch, I need to subscribe the monthly service. So we need to pay again, like me that something I already have.
I'm a week into using delta and it's the best ! The speed up button is a lifesaver. The action replay cheat seem to be working also for most titles makes the experience better for some games

i havent gotten the expansion because 1] i forget to renew manually and 2] they want $50 on top of the $20, theyre not prorating or discounting for an upgrade vs from scratch subscription.
Been playing DK64 on it, the ability to stop that game and pick it up where you left off makes the collectable aspect of it so good, definitely good time killer when I’m not home

It was them helping people on Discord distribute and get Zelda: TotK running on their emulator BEFORE the game was even released. So far for the “we’re against piracy” image they tried to pass around.

Perfect, thanks for bringing awareness, I've downloaded it immediately. I've had a bone to pick with both companies, Apple for nullifying all my 32-bit games which I made a vow to never purchase another app again, and Nintendo for their anti-emulation stance. This is my way to give them both the middle finger to support neither, while still having access to a number of games.
