  • I know there's a lot of JB's haters, but you've got to respect his toughness and "never quit" attitude. And to stay at the TOP of the mountain both nationally and internationally for SO many years... that's incredible. I don't see how could be left out of the conversation for greatest U.S wrestler of ALL-time. I don't think there's ever been a field of wrestlers this talented in any other decade. He's an amazing champion and deserves all the praise, awards, accolades and championships. I'd love to see him win another Gold medal, but that would be really, really tough. I've also enjoyed watching the evolution of Kyle Dake... I used to think he was kind of a boring wrestler to watch... Lots of defensive, low scoring matches... It seems like with his increasing confidence mixed with frustration, he's really starting to open it up and take a lot more risks. I don't know how much longer Burroughs is going to be able to beat him. Regardless, great wrestling from both Dake and Burroughs. Congratulations to Jordan Burroughs, well done! ~But thanks be to God which giveth us the victory through our Lord, Jesus Christ.~

  • you guys complaining about this third round and how it shouldn't have even happened, especially with regards to Dakes takedown, it wasn't a takedown. In freestyle, a takedown requires 3 points of contact. JB clearly only had one knee down and one hand posted. The other hand was up, and the leg extended not touching the ground. There was also no control since if they were in the center JB could've gotten up and potentially broken the lock Dake had. clearly was a push out for one point You also cant say that JB wasn't attacking this match, as he clearly was, much more than Dake in the last one, which is the reason dake was put on the clock and JB wasn't. This was a great match between two great wrestlers. Love watching them duke it out every time. Also, while the "punch" did look a little dirty, it came from close quarters and wouldn't have had enough power to actually hurt Dake bad enough for him to fall to the mat like that for real. I think he may have been pining for a tech, or a break cause of fatigue. not saying it wasn't something to be looked at, just saying it really didn't look bad enough to warrant that reaction. its like when basketball players get "charged" on. And even with the caution, Dake would've only had 3, leaving the score 6-3. and if for whatever reason they gave dake the push out, it would've been 4-4 with JB leading with criteria, even though I personally prefer when ties lead to overtime.

    • Definitely as I actually believe Dake should have gotten the win in the round 2 match. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought the back exposure points Burroughs got was the difference in the series win but I thought to get back exposure points your back had to touch the mat. I think Burroughs being fresher not having to wrestle as much really made the difference. First 2 matches really close but thought Dake was too gassed in the 3rd round match. I think it will be a heck of a match between them to get the Olympics.

  • At the US Open Dake was put on a shot clock TWICE in the second period for wrestling exactly the way Boroughs wrestled in this second period. I said it then and I'll say it again, Jordan Boroughs, whom I have great respect for as a champion and an ambassador for the sport, is being officiated based on his reputation. It's not Boroughs' fault, he's doing what every athlete does and needs to do, wrestle the way the refs call the match. But I'm having more than a little problem with USA wrestling and the refs that they seem to be willing to perpetuate this bias. I'm not a Kyle Dake fan either. I'm a fan of wrestling in general and want to see the sport prosper, and this kind of one sided officiating is becoming pretty obvious and hurts the sport.

  • I’m curious on how they will do against a level playing field. Dake makes excuses on how he never wrestled JB fresh, but Zain and Gilman went through a whole challenge tournament that same year. If you ever watch a Flo wrestling interview with Gilman, he even thinks that wrestling in the challenge tournament gives you momentum.

    @kevinjang8209@kevinjang82093 жыл бұрын
  • Dake was just to tired, say what you want the challenge tournament is bs. After wrestling IMAR, Alex dierenger and a FRESH Jordan Burroughs 2 times in a row he didn't have anything left compared to Jordan who had been just watching all day. Just think to yourself and even against Jordan when ever do you see someone break dakes lock like that on a cradle, when does someone just straighten their leg to break his lock on a single leg multiple times like it's nothing. Whenever does Dake just stand straight up for 50% of the match. If this version of Burroughs wasnt just a shadow of his former self in term of aggression Dake would of gotten hurt. Because he would of got blast doubled out of this world. I was very shocked to see Burroughs trying to hang on to a 4 point lead over a broken opponent and that he didn't look for the tech. Hope he wins gold and didn't crush dakes dream for nothing lol

Dake peaked in 2013. He will never win an Olympic gold medal! He was a beast in college but that's where he peaked. If he had to wrestle anyone of the 2012 version of Burroughs' caliber while at Cornell he would not be a 4X NCAA champion.

    • fyi wrestling is incredibly useful for BJJ, and if you do no gi BJJ like ADCC, you will never make it to ADCC if you have not practiced wrestling along wiht your BJJ. The only BJJ players who dont like wrestling are the bjj white and blue belts that get dominated by the wrestler. respect the art. you need it. a pure wrestler will never make it to ADCC obviously, not even close, and a pure BJJ guy wont make it either, although he would have been a lot closer. Put in the grind and learn some wrestling

  • Look I don't care what anyone says ever since I've been wrestling If ur a number one seed in an odd number bracket guess what u get a bye a break rest to watch ur next opponent. Even though dake is obviously fatigued that's his fault understand dake just had to win One match wrestling is a sport of pushing through so dake needs to stop talking to referees and work on his endurance and Jordan Burroughs needs to not wrestle like a pussy all he wants is a lead n yes that's smart and safe it's not the Jordan I remember who won the Olympic gold medal the one who was not even known going into his senior year of high school and then came and took the wrestling world by storm. All I have to say is scared money don't make no money.

    @The_IQONIC_1@The_IQONIC_17 жыл бұрын
    • The point of wrestling is working smarter, not harder. When you have a lead on someone, your coach always tells you "Don't do anything stupid" especially against an opponent that has you evenly matched. The Jordan you knew was 4 or 6 years younger. He's almost 30, and will be 30 in the Olympics. Jordan Burroughs is ancient by wrestling standards so he has to wrestle differently than he did 4, 6, or even just 2 years ago because he knows that those leads are going to be harder for him to get. And that holds especially true for Dake, who is his main contender. Note what you said. "senior year of high school". His body isn't the same as it was then. It doesn't make him any better or any worse, just different.

      @wyattp8479@wyattp84796 жыл бұрын
    • yeah so what if the most important match of the tourney isn't fairly matched at all. honestly its stupid that you favor burroughs. the olympic wrestler should be the best of the nation, not someone who won because of an unfair advantage.

      @JamesWilliams1960@JamesWilliams19607 жыл бұрын
    • Dake was on his butt leaning back on both hands. I immediately thought exposure before it was even awarded and the takedown was out by the time he secured it. Look, I understand that there are a lot of Dake fans that really want this for him, but as Dake said himself, he's just going to have to "step up" a little more. The gap has closed considerably. He'll get there.

  • It wasnt a punch or slap. Their heads bumped, slightly. But really, it was fatigue -- quit playing Kyle [in my best Cartman voice]! In general, regarding the match, Jordan is simply the freasure wrestler. Ive been saying this for decades, you cannot judge who is better when one of the opponents has more ware on them from additional matches. Thats basic reasoning! One-on-one duels provide the best formate in determining legit winners (both wrestlers are freash) And keep in mind, i love tourneys, because they test you differently that a duel, but NO ONE should get free pass. Suspend your disbelief for a moment and think.: It is a flawed system/process -- which does not accuratly tell us who is better, because the variables are different.

  • Meh. Dake's fifth match of the day to Burrough's third. Takes the snap out of things. In the US wrestling is the only Olympic sport that imposes a direct physical penalty on the challenger. Physical disadvantage plus the champion getting the champion's privilege makes it anti-climactic. Should not have been a bye this time out, especially not based on the travesty at the Open. Hopefully Burrough's medals and Dake just keeps competing.

    @icarus8471@icarus84717 жыл бұрын
    • Jesus Christ, dude. You're on every Burroughs video, but I don't see you saying shit about DT having to do the same versus Cox. Yeah, I don't agree with the system, but it's obvious you have it out for Burroughs and not really for anyone else that was protected.

      @KnockEmmm@KnockEmmm7 жыл бұрын
    • KnockEmmm to be fair, Cox did great at the Olympics, and Burroughs didn't. So with two talented guys at 74kg I think we should see them wrestle fresh. But I don't see any favoritism from the officials to either wrestler in the series.

      @RogueTravel@RogueTravel7 жыл бұрын
    • KnockEmmm: There are three videos. Sorry I am interested, and the Burroughs/Dake matches are the most interesting by far. These two are separated by a razor's edge, and Burroughs is not just some guy in this sport. Oh and actually I did comment on the situation with DT. I think the entire format is absurd. If saying I hope Burroughs medals is having it out for him, OK. But I'm not going to pretend this was a level playing field. That said, I think the officiating was fine in these matches. Not at the Open, but go read the comments there, none of which are mine.
