In the 3rd episode of our New Zealand mothership adventure, we're kayak fishing 100 km off the coast of Auckland in search of GIANT yellowtail kingfish! The jig bite is on FIRE and we catch countless fish before heading back to the mothership to cook up our catch and play with sharks around the boat.

  • As somebody who has done this trip (with Marty :) ) This is a great video of the bounty hunter at its best. Ticks the fishing trip rule of 3.... as long as 2 of 3 are great the trip is great.. Weather, Fish and People... I was lucky with 3/3 for my trip, which made it a trip of a lifetime... (I got close to the 20lber!) Watching this wanted me to book again to try for the 20kg King and the 20lb Snap... they are there and ready to catch!

  • Those sharks are almost impossible to dehook. That rubbery stuff around their mouths makes it like trying to get a hook out of a truck tire. Cutting it close was certainly the best option

  • norm i do get kicked with a shark if no steel line but also on a spinner reel haha dang use a flippin accurate already 😂 i have 2 and that is after I lost one overboard 😢😢 cause my leash ripped off and flipped me… 😂😢😂😮

    • i was at los pulgas in the reef and something pulled it hard af, it was to the right side when i dropped but was on my left when hit after i floated into the seaweed 😂 so yup you can imagine the yard sale i had and what i lost beyon the rod n reel and shark my guess 😂

  • You think a 12.5’ 32” wide kayak would be fine in the ocean?

    • 32” wide is pretty narrow, so it may not be super stable. Which can be fine, but you’ll need to be careful and practice inshore or on a lake if you’re newer to the sport

  • 70 miles lol did you mean 7? as 70 miles out the hills in the background would need to be over 3000ft tall due to the curvature of the earth to even see them, and they wouldn't be anything but a smidge. other then that nice video

    • Easy to say that from the comfort of your own home… it’s different when you’re 6 hours from the nearest hospital. If I got bit bad and couldn’t stop the bleeding I’d bleed out long before getting to help. That shark will be fine.
