  • Thank you Bishop Baron for your talk on the Holy Spirit. I talk to God, I talk to Jesus and pray to the Holy Spirit, but for the first time in my life I realized just now that God the Holy Spirit was always with me too. I love you. I pray for all our priest and religious.

  • Wow, Fr Barron is explaining everything I wish Id learnt growing up as a catholic. Coming back to faith after 20 years as an atheist feels like a homecoming. 🏠

    • @S L yes, now you mention it growing up, the faith was used as a rod of discipline in my home without explanation or emphasis on anything else. My journey was similar to yours (especially related to the mountain of philosophical reading and looking into the eastern traditions), the Catholic Church just seems like home.

  • I think I feel the presence of the Holy Spirit most apparent when I get the swell of emotion when I think of Jesus and God when I pray the Rosary. It is most powerful then, because I am actually weeping quite profusely. I've had people ask, what is going on, and I tell them it's quite simply the overwhelming feeling of love. When I pray the Rosary I am usually offering my sorrow to Jesus for all those people that do not believe or are committing horrible crimes against humans. I beg him to forgive them. Other times I may be walking along the streets, enjoying the sunshine and hearing the birds chirping, feeling a cool breeze, and I thank God what he made for my enjyment in that moment. I am grateful I was born a Catholic and my mother teaching me to have an intimate prayer relationship with Jesus, but for as long as I've known, even from childhood, I have always known that the Holy Spirit is always a breath away when I appreciate the nearness of God in his works.

    • The HOLY SPIRIT is not taught correctly by churches which convey a human -wrought made up belief. The HOLY SPIRIT (as taught by actual Jesus) is the conduit or pipe that connects to your soul and delivers sought DIVINE LOVE from your soul parent God into your soul. This Divine Love, the actual divine essence of God will(if sought enuf) will start incrementally transforming your soul to an IMMORTAL DIVINE type with a divine spark and awareness which it did not have originally. This is the actual truth and there are written documents and celestial -guided persons superior to the Bible to prove it. 😇🙏

  • Mu humble testimony: When I got my Confirmation, I was 24 or 26 ( I can’t remember exactly, sorry). I walked down the aisle fully connected that it would be the highlight of my whole life. And it was! 😍 Those 2 seconds when the bishop made the sign of cross on my forehead, I EXPERIENCED the most intense love and fire ( a fire hard to describe, a fire that didn’t hurt) I have ever had. Praise to God!

    • @@michaelanderson4849 you need to take a more patient and humble stand in this life. Look, put it simply, only after you breath you last you will then know who is right and who is wrong about God. Before that happens, you should try to restraint yourself from so aggressively criticising others just because they think different to you.

  • I remember a brilliant local priest at my city, here in the Philippines, explaining that the Trinity is not like pantheism where each god can do what the others can't. The Trinity does not work like that; they are each a complete substance as there is, after all, one God. In Catholic school, I was taught that the Holy Spirit is God operating within us through our conscience and through the gifts that we have received in baptism.

  • The Holy Spirit heals, sanctifies, gives comfort, brings tears of joy, and help us know the depth of the love of the Father, in order to give that love to others. The presence of the Holy Spirit transforms our life. Fills our void. Carries away our sorrow and afflictions. Helps us in hardships. I pray that everybody that reads this can receive the Holy Spirit, I pray you give your life to Jesus and surrender to Him, I pray God draws you into His loving embrace, it’s the best decision anyone can make ever.

  • One Eastern Orthodox priest told it very bluntly and simply to me: The Holy Spirit is your life. What he of course meant is that it’s the divine life given to us through Christ, but still. Very elegant, very simple, very deep. That’s it and that’s sufficient for understanding this hypostasis of the Trinity I think

  • When I read about St. Maximilian Kolbe, I learned that he had prayed and studied many hours during his lifetime, asking to understand the Person of the Holy Spirit, and to understand the Holy Trinity. This lead him to contemplate and pray more deeply about the relationship, and meaning between the Spouse of the Holy Spirit, our Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God to the Holy Spirit. St. Maximilian asked our Blessed Mother, "Who are you, Mary?" In an Icon of the Holy Family, we see Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Joseph being the Icon of God the Father. In this image of family, we see the Son, the Father, and the Mother between them. We see God the Father, God the Son, and Mary, who is, in essence, the Love between the Father and the Son in flesh and blood. Mary held the newborn Jesus, Son of God in her arms in adoration, looking lovingly down into the face of God her Creator, with Jesus looking up into the beautiful face of Love created between the Father and Son, that is, the "sigh" between them, in persona Mary. In my struggle to grasp and to understand the Holy Trinity, I am drawn more and more into the image of the Holy Family, and as I have learned from St. Maximilian Kolbe; I am asking, "Who are you Mary?" And, "Who are you Holy Spirit?" When I ask these questions, something rests on my heart, it draws me to the person and oneness of the Holy Family. Yet I can not find words to actually explain this to others. It is truly a mystery. I believe that when it is fully revealed to us, and we grasp it better, we will be overcome with an unspeakable awe. I believe that the Archangel Gabriel was given extraordinary grace to even pronounce "Full of Grace". The awe he experienced upon greeting Mary, was unspeakably profound.

  • I've always thought about the Holy Spirit as the Person who's the dynamics of God calling himself within us. His own essence actively interacting inside of us, constructing us, guiding us, sharing himself on us, making us know of his presence. When I was a child I had an easy tendency to have a relationship with God, or at least being conscious of his presence, however when I grew up and went to college, obviously I started doubting the Church and just got away. But when I missed God and started feeling a void inside of me I returned to the Church and instinctively I somehow knew that I needed to call the Holy Spirit to reach Jesus and reach Jesus to return to the Father.

  • The depth of pure theology is amazing and Bishop Barron is so clear in his explanations. I fail so often to understand it right. We always seem to rank these "persons"..as first second and third...as though that's an order of importance or power.. We seem to lose the first part of the statement as "God in three persons". Maybe the order only comes because this is the order that they have come to us? I firstly see Jesus as "God with us"....the carnal presence on earth who came to speak to us directly in human form. I see the Spirit as the presence of God within us....who was introduced to us by Jesus the Christ to help us remain in unity with each other and with God in the same way he had on earth. All represent God reaching out to us to bring us in unity to him and with each other. The theology of this in a form that's without fault escapes me.

  • Re: Devotional area. I have a friend who I share much of my spiritual activities, mostly by phone, because I think of her as a person of deep faith. One day, I went to her house for my first visit. she invited me to her room and there she opened her closet, which to my expectation is where clothes are kept. But to my surprise, the closet did not have hanging clothes nor folded ones. instead I saw an altar, a chair facing the altar and some icons and a crucifix. There are candles but not the real ones. She said that is where she commune with God everyday, and that includes her husband as well. What a private place it is.

The feeling was overwhelming...Everything was OK! God became real in the sense that my life was in his hands. I felt love for those around me. I have become joyous...I have forgiveness in my heart. I went through the "formality" of being baptized 21 years ago...after I lost my son David Jr to cancer...But finally...finally, because of the Holy Spirit I have found God! • Fr. Henri Nouwen in his book Clowning In Rome, gave the etymology of the word person. Personare from the Latin - To sound through. When I learned this it changed my perception of how I act or interact with others. As you are discussing the person of the Holy Spirit, it helps me to think of the Triune God as a sounding through of one to the other. For me it gives a more intimate understanding of the Godhead.

  • You cannot make do without the Holy Spirit. If we are made in God’s image, then we love God by loving our neighbour, and we must also, like God, be the lover, the beloved, as well as the love and loving that connects one to the other. And God is no more split into three separate parts than a person is when being the lover, the beloved, and being loving. It is merely love experienced as I, You, and We.

However, we do know the Son of God, Jesus Christ, and because Jesus is fully God and fully Man, we are able to understand to a certain extent, how much God loves us and how God sees us; and so we can have a complete faith in God even though we cannot understand Him fully.

  • The Holy Spirit is not just a person but also a divine because God is there even though God is the Father, and He is the Son and He is the Holy Spirit. Like in The Gospel we are told that God's son(Jesus Christ) Promised the Disciples that the Holy Spirit will come to them The Divine person who we are told about is (God), May God Bless you Bishop Robert Barron🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤✝✝✝👍👍👍

  • Bishop Barron, Thank you very much for all the Spirit-filled teachings you do. I have a question. We say, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. If so, why do we pray, :Come Holy Spirit, when He is already dwelling in us. Is it because, human as we are, we are still sinners and are not consciously aware and recognize His Presence in us? And when we mindfully recognize that God is dwelling in us, His grace flows freely in us. Whatever angst, conflict, frustration, illness, problem, issues and concerns, both personal or otherwise we are facing now is GOD'S permissive will to WATER and PRUNE our TREE of LIFE that we may bear the FRUITS of the HOLY SPIRIT. As you said, do we become more loving, more joyful, more peaceful, gentle, kind, faithful, generous, self-controlled, patient when we are test by trials and tribulations of life? • You should do an interview between Barron, Hahn, and Chan. Chan wrote a book called Unity. And Hahn wrote a book called Rome Sweet Home. I would love to hear more about unity amongst Christians and what that would look like.

  • Bishop Barron, First off I love all of the great work you do. You have given me a lot of insight about God and the dignity of the human person. I have a question. I know that Thomas aquinas said that God loves everyone unequally, like he doesn’t love a dog like he does a human, and he doesn’t love a priest as much as our blessed mother. That is because he gave them each certain goods and to some he gave them more good. So my question is does God hate the disabled? Based off of aquinas’ argument, God didn’t give the disabled as much as good as regular people. If a disabled person feels worthless, how can you say that God loves them as much as anybody else?
