Scuba Diving with Grey Seals at Lundy Island, Devon (4K)
Scuba Diving with Grey Seals at Lundy Island in Devon UK. An amazing experience to dive with some of the 180+ resident grey seals (atlantic seals) at Lundy Island, North Devon, UK.
Departing from ilfracombe on the Obession II boat, our journey to Lundy was around an hour and a half. The diving trip was booked with easydiversnorthdevon who were great fun and a well organised, along with following covid-19 precautions too.
This video was taken over two days and four dives. Using ambient light only, in depths of around 4-5 metres. As this was my first underwater footage using my new kit, I was happy with the results.
I hope you enjoy this peaceful video, and please like / share and subscribe for more underwater content. Any comments welcome too 👌🏼

Sea doggos
Gorgeous underwater environment!
Yes, absolutely - I’d highly recommended seeing it for yourself. What I’ve shown in the video really is a snapshot of what it looks like, but to experience it yourself is honestly amazing 😻
It's amazing how green it is under there.
So effortless in the water
Such beautiful creatures - if it’s on your bucket list, go for it. Incredible encounters with such playful seals 🦭
What a lovely video. Really enjoyed watching this. One day I hope to go diving with seals.
Thank you 🙏🏼 I’d highly recommend it - one of the best dive experiences going.
Lovely video. Met the seals the other day. You are helping me to relive the experience. Thanks!!!
Excellent, thanks Thomas - I’m so pleased! They provide such great interaction 🦭🥰. Hopefully you’ll be with them again soon 👌🏼
@@DanielFrench The best thing is that actually want to hang out with people. They were so curious and adorable. Glad I am not a fish tho.
Yes agreed! Some of my favourite dives ever have been with those beauties 👌🏼
Absolutely cracking Daniel - the new kit worked a treat. I’ve always wanted to dive with seals but haven’t had the chance yet : they are so curious and playful. Thanks for the upload.
Thanks so much 🙏🏼 diving with the seals was a fabulous experience. If you get the chance go for it 👍🏼
What an experience that must have been!
Yes, absolutely incredible…. Been back many times since then too - it’s always a joy to see them and interact with them so closely. If it’s on your list to do, go for it.
Just have to love the sea
Absolutely! Nothing better than being up close with nature in its own back yard!
So true. Started diving earlier this year - best decision ever
@@barneybouy8879 well done 👏🏼 you’ll have many great experiences I’m sure! 👌🏼
I must go there, looks great. Beautiful animals
Yes everyone should - it’s a very special and interactive dive that’s for sure
Awesome footage man. Need to dive Devon one day. Always love diving with seals at the Farnes.
Thank you 😊 I’d love to do the Farne islands sometime soon - Lundy was such an incredible experience. Hope you manage to get there sometime 👌🏼
@@DanielFrench Cheers mate. Yeah you will need to check out the Farnes at some point.
And Bermuda 🇧🇲 too! 🤘🏼
@@DanielFrench 100% and technically still UK diving
Would love to join you when I'm next back in the UK
What kind of lens did you use? I'm curious what to bring when i go to this place. Really great that ambient light was enough for those shots.
Hi there - the equipment I used is in the description above, but here too:- Panasonic GH5s camera Nauticam NA-GH5V Underwater Housing Nauticam WWL-1 wide wet lens Nauticam CMC-2 macro lens The seals were mostly at depths of around 2m-10m and the shots were taken over two sunny days, so the ambient lighting was perfect 👌🏼
@@DanielFrench i just can't figure Out if its a wideangle lens on the Body like millimeters and If its got Zoom
@@flashbacktv2010 The Nauticam WWL-1 is a wide angle wet lens that you can add / remove underwater. It also has zoom through capabilities and is optically corrected for underwater. It's probably best if you speak with your local Nauticam dealer to get more definitive answers to your questions. Good luck 👍🏼
Уже не пераое видео, где тюленей, кроме камеры🙂 очень интересуют ласты дайверов. Собственно, из всех дайверов только ласты и интересуют😂 что это значит для них?
Hello , what equipment did you use to take this video ? Thank you !
Hello! I used a Panasonic GH5s camera in Nauticam NA-GH5V Underwater Housing with Nauticam WWL-1 wide wet lens some shots were taken using the Nauticam CMC-2 macro lens and the aerial shots were taken on a DJi Mavic Air 2 Drone
@@DanielFrench thank you!!
Is there sharks hunting them?
What’s the best month of the year to see them in Lundy?
June to End of September, for best sea conditions and sightings, however there are approx 180 resident grey seals at Lundy island, so sightings are almost always possible.
between a fish n a dog
The name for a seal in German is “Seehund” which translates in a roundabout way as “sea dog”
I must live on this island. My last name is Lundy. So I can reign as Queen of Karens and Queen of Lundy. And become a true selkie, swimming with seals everyday. If you live on this island, marry me. I'm Irish. I'm not joking about this either lol. I currently live on Vancouver Island, Canada but the Island of Lundy is where I obviously am supposed to be.
