    • @@neal520 Mariusz won about 70% of all international competitions he took part in. He was on the podium 83.333% of the time whenever he took part in any international strongman contest. Mariusz has beaten all the WSM winners of his era in various competitions. Even in national shows he also had to compete against Jarek Dymek, who was Europe's Strongest Man in 2005, but Mariusz still won 7 times in Poland's Strongest Man as well. His only loss in this competition was in 2002 to Jarek Dymek, by 0.5 points, but few people know this competition took place only 6 days after the grueling 2002 WSM Final, which Mariusz did win. Mariusz competed against Big Z 24 times from 2000 to 2009. 16 out of 24 times Mariusz was the winner. Mariusz competed against Svend Karlsen 25 times from 2000 to 2006. 19 out of 25 times Mariusz was the winner. Mariusz competed against Magnus Samuelsson 18 times from 2000 to 2007. 14 out of 18 times Mariusz was the winner. Mariusz competed against Vasyl Virastyuk 10 times from 2003 to 2006. 6 out of 10 times Mariusz was the winner. Mariusz competed against Brian Shaw 4 times from 2007 to 2009. 4 out of 4 times Mariusz was the winner. Mariusz competed against Janne Virtanen 20 times from 2000 to 2009. 17 out of 20 times Mariusz was the winner. Mariusz competed against Phil Pfister 10 times from 2000 to 2009. 6 out of 10 times Mariusz was the winner. Mariusz competed against Derek Poundstone 3 times from 2008 to 2009. 2 out of 3 times Mariusz was the winner. I don't know how fair it is to say "Mariusz didn't compete against the best!!!" with this track record.

  • He was a well rounded athlete, there is no doubt that Mariusz was not the strongest competitor but that's not all that Strongman is about. His fitness, endurance and speed put him ahead of others when his strength was a disadvantage. Even by todays standards some competitors would struggle to keep up with him. Probably Kieliszkowski and Novikow come close. Don't judge him or discredit him because you think Strongman is a Powerlifting competition. He competed against Zavickas, Poundstone, Magnus, Shaw, Pfister and won. And there is people saying he did not compete against any top tier competitors.

So for 4 years and 3 of his titles he was against easier competition. Saying that I still think he is the 3rd greatest of all time after Z and Shaw.

Z is my pick for greatest of all time, but he can't discount Pudz in the top 5 discussion. We wasn't statically the strongest, but this isn't powerlifting. He was doing shit nobody back then could do. When 310lb Mariusz faced 350lb Big Z in the early 2000s, he usually beat him.

  • The Michael Jordan of strongman. Both had relatively short careers. Both dominated like no one before or since them. Both were competitive to the point of being psychotic. Both were among the "bad boys" of their sport. Both may or may not had an affinity for cocaine. Both born in February. G.O.A.T. simple as that. And no amount of crying will ever change that.

    • @@Anthonyosull07 lol yea... no chance. There is a reason Mariusz has the most wins ever with 5(should of been 6) There has never been an athlete like him, That strong, built like a MrOlympia/bodybuilder, the biggest, and most defined abs, and he could do the splits. There is a reason he not only won that many titles, and not only won most the events, but he absolutely dominated all the events, he won some of his titles in the 2nd to last event, he would be in such a lead where he didnt even have to do the last event, and won. He is one of the only strong men to take these crazy weight a RUN with them, weights 99% could barely lift, let alone run with them. He was on a different level

  • Big Mariuz showed up and competed perfectly to match and dominate his competition. Arriving at the tail end of the Norse Dynasty where they had no answer for him. And frankly he quit because we were now seeing the advent of the truly big boys. At maybe 300lbs he was clearly over matched like he had overwhelmed the Norse contingent. Timing is everything.
